Moving to 1.05v will let you increase your frequencies even more.

Successfully flashed my 0608 to 0617 running stable @ 665/1650/975 @ 1.05v. Will do some testing in a bit.
-
told you it was 1.05 volt and the same with the 9800m gt's it's also 1.05 volts. at lest the new ones are...not sure about the old ones...
now lets see that new high score or are we waiting for it to get a bit dark and a little cooler.... -
haha yes... waiting for things to cool down a bit
I wasn't aware a new card revision to the 9800M GTX was released. Anything different aside from a bios update?
-
yep, waiting on them new marks with the added voltage!
i couldn't really be sure mike.... i mean i could hit 15k with dual cards and 11k stock with one card, but i wasn't sure if it was really me and the cards or a flubbed score....so i'll have to pass judgment when my baby comes home.... -
I can't hit the clocks I was able to before. Also not near as cold outside as it was then either, but I ought to at least be able to get them close. Scores are higher than normal, so I'm optimistic that the vBIOS flash did some good. But my temps are hot, they were before the vBIOS flash... I'm going to clean the system out today when I pick up my X9100 from the Post Office, and put some good grease on.
Either my cooling is not as good as before, of my card is starting to wear out prematurely due to running it so hard. -
that 700 high clock set you had?
your just going to have to experiment till you find that unlocking point. if your perofmrance is better at lower clock rates...then that is always a serious plus!
but...what we're your scores? -
Vantage score at 630/1635/975 @ 1.05v was P6779. You'll see my clock speeds in my previous record was much much higher, yet I gained a good 50 points right off the bat.
I need to reinstall Vista too. Having some weird issues. My benchies from before were from a pretty clean install. Vantage will lock up on the second test at the same exact place, every time, if I take the clocks any higher. I am thinking a clean install would help with that, along with some new thermal grease and vent cleanings. -
did you start with the standard clock set first?
600/1600/900 to see what it came back as? and compair it to your original first? -
Well drivers... there will be a difference still. I'd have to revert back to whatever I was using then. I might give that a test when I redo the system again.
And I believe that would be 600/1375/799 as the standard clock on that.
Well I must needs be rest now. -
none of my cards we're ever set to that when i got them. shaders were always 1250 and not 1375 nor 600. i think those are desktop card clocks.... rather ..prior released cards

I try to run my card at this clocks, windows vista works, but 3D Mark 06, Crysis, COD4, nothing works correctly...I should set my old clocks back...then i have a working grafic card... -
Had anybody an bios update for the car? Is this new bios better?
Why couldnt i overclock my card so much as itsfun ode emike?
THx -
have you been paying attention my friend? also there are a few things as well...
for starters...your card is newer than theirs or at least it was newer than emike's. you scores should go up when using the right driver for your system. im using 177.35/176.09 and they run better than pretty much all the other drivers when benching. my games seem to run well under them both, but then i don't have an aresnal of games either. LOL
and it's not always the outer limit clocks are going to work with every single card/setup/config because none of them are identical. you have to play with it and in time, you'll figure out how to get it to work for you..... some people it happens right away...others...it takes a while....
edit: that's if your card was a true 0617 card to start with. -
-
Well I don't believe the new vBIOS is much better. I can't reach the clocks I was able to before, and my new Vantage record is only P6740, only 15 up from before. Seems a bit more unstable to me, likely because it does not belong on my device.
-
-
one thing mike...im curious...can you load up the 176.09 driver and in the control panel, do a restore defaults. then add the emike touch and let me know what you come up with...if that's not a problem. -
Hello again, can you Upload the new Bios for the 9800 MGTX card?
Thank you very much... -
-
-
and i know we can get a messily old 99 points to make the 7k mark! woooohooo!! go mike!!
*LOL* -
How about I just turn off PhysX and test? Would save me the time it would take to completely remove my drivers, install new ones, test, uninstall, then install again... I'm just being lazy here...
-
sure thing mike, but you dont really need to uninstall your old drivers. the driver change was to see how much of a difference and whether or not it would revert everything back to factory (registry settings- control panel settings & so on)..because what it does need from time to time is to be reset back to factory defaults then readjusted. at least from most of my testing on it seems to point to that.( i could be seeing things too..*L*)
i have about 6 drivers que'd up for jumping to at any given time for testing. but if my quality/performance settings get messed up..it usually degrades my performance when switching drivers. (was why i suggested trying stock)
and the physx engine is still connected to the current driver. and would just drop the current score lower.... -
When I set your clocks, my system work unstabile.
Why? I dont know!
You have an 9800 M GTX and I also. Whats the difference?
The Bios?Maby, but with the 0608 the screen will be black...
And with my bios i will never have this clocks...
Why? Is my card so different?
THx -
Your card is not that much different. Open your vBIOS in NiBiToR, set the dev ID to 0608, set the clocks, reset the dev ID to 0617, save the vBIOS, then flash it. Should work fine that way. -
im begining to think there are like 2 to 3 versions of the 9800m gtx...personally...
matter of fact..as mike said...they're are...one for sli and one for single card machines. -
this is a question for itsfun, but if also someone can help me, you will be wellcome
itsfun.....
please, could you explain me how did you remove the coolers from GPU and CPU???
I would like to do the same. i mean, to apply the coollaboratory liquid pro, becouse I get 80ºC in my M570TU GPU playing games
(I have the same specs: M570TU Extreme X9100, 9800MGTX, 4mb ram 1066mhz and my 3dmark06 is 10100)
my email: [email protected]
thank you!
greetings -
I think not only itsfun can help you,....also johnksss and emike...
-
or me...email sent.
-
then... I wait for your help -
itsfun gets a lot of attention here for some reason.
-
Mayby, because Jarinawer also came from germany,...
-
Haha itsfun is popular in Germany. Now theres a feat.
-
I try to flash my Card at your Setting 620......and my card will not work @ these settings...
I think I have a shiit 9800M GTX...OMG
This is also an 98GTX, but no Mobile Card....why it is not possible these clocks at an mobile card... -
so... do you know how I can remove the coolers from GPU and CPU??. i would like to verify and check it, and apply new thermal paste... -
I dont know how do you can remove the cooler from GPU and CPU...
I could open my D901C and lokk for it, but no I´m to lazy.... -
Did you not get the email from Theriko? For the CPU, just unscrew the four large springloaded screws and lift the heatsink off. For the GPU, unscrew the five small silver screws, then lift the heatsink up.
At least thats how it works on the M570TU... -
before you going taking that stuff apart...you had better make sure you have the right screw drivers for the job...or you'll be sorry later.
-
-
little ones. Just open it and look at it. You'll see its not too bad.
-
I just remove the rear cover...
so... do I have to unscrew the 4 silver little screws and then the heatsink from GPU leaves off???
I also see 4 black screws
(I would like put a pic but still I can't. I have made 15 posts or more)
-
You got it right. Remove those screws. There might be 5, so check for them. Once they are off, you might have to pry a LITTLE bit to get it to come off. You can leave the black screws if i remember correctly.
-
you can make a picture
h ttp://www.
tt = **
and it will work -
I just get an email from theriko.
-
h**tp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a116/Jarinawer/Portatil/GPUscrewsheatsink.jpg
are these screws?? -
yes those are them
-
thank you to all!
when i get the thermal paste, i will try it
this forum is great!
greetings! -
but im with you...if you have the right sized screw drivers...the job should be a snap. -
hello to all...
I just remove the heat sink from GPU.
I see that it has normal paste (it's grey. no silver). also and I think that there is too much.
so I removed the paste and I appled 'Artic Silver 5' thermal compound.
still I have not the 'Coollaboratory liquid pro'. but I have read about this compound and it seems that its difficult to apply and remove it. now I have afraid to apply it.
you can check and read this review:
***.burnoutpc.com/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=263
(*** = www)
as you can see in page 2, the 'Artic Siver 5' works better than the 'Liquid Pro'...
what do you think?
and now with the new thermal paste..... how long I must wait until I can turn the notebook on and make tests?
greetings
