i did that, but emike said it doesn't work.

all though when i tried to run 1.07 it would not boot correctly. then i got stuck on some other projects and haven't really investigated further

Is the dual 9800gtx sli 512
faster than the dual ati 3870 ?

i think the dual 9800gtx sli 1024 is faster

nope, its 1 gig per card. 2 gigs total video memory.
and it is faster at just about everything, except for 3dmark06. where the 3870's are blowing them away.

Overvolting in NiBiToR can only be done via the voltage tables already set up, according to mvktech.net, and confirmed by my research. With the 9800M GTX, the max high voltage on the 0608 is 1.03v and 1.05v on the 0617 vBIOS. Even though you can specify higher in nibitor, it will still only max at whatever is default for your particular vBIOS.

****, those GPU scores beat even my SLI ones by A LOT.
    Stinking 2.4 T8300 Bottleneck pos :D
Tell me about it, he has my SLI system by 2000 points!

    2k? Even I score 10k with a 2.4Ghz processor and a mild overclock on my 9800.

Something must be off with your system. Can you run the test then post a screenshot?

Only trouble is, when in SLi, you only get to take advantage of 1 GPU's worth of graphics memory, not both. :(

There`s nothing off, 3dmark06 does not really take advantage of SLI with a lower CPU.
    At 1920x1200 I get 10k , just as I get at at 1280x1200.
Even when OCing, it still does not increase, so the CPU is really holding me back.
However, gaming-wise, all runs beautifully :)

Possibly. Being able to address the full 2GB of video RAM (1GB per card) would take a serious bite out of the available logical address space, though, since 2GB worth of logical addresses would have to be allocated to the video RAM. Of course, this would only present a "problem" in an NP9262 that had 8GB of system RAM since the NP9262's chipset has a maximum logical address space of 8GB.

I wonder if the NVidia folks tried to make it work, and just gave up, or if there was some other reason why they chose not to attempt to make the full video RAM on both cards available under SLi?

you would think they could get it to work something like how turbo or ready boost memory works... don't they operate in their own memory space?

If the memory on the 2 cards worked independantly, then whenever card 1 wanded to access data on the memory for card2, then they would have to talk over either the bridge cable or the pcie bus, thus slowing down their operation. If each card had everything it needed in its own ram then they would have so much duplicate stuff it would make no difference to just duplicating the whole lot anyway.

i was thinking more along the line of consecutive, when certain textures call for more video ram. usually above 1 gig and at resolutions starting at 1920x1200 and going up.

Good point; thanks for posting it. I would also imagine that, in the case of using the pcie bus, that might also slow down the entire system, not just the GPUs, and in the case of duplication, that would lead to a lot of coherency transactions (where a data item residing on both cards has to be updated if it's changed on one card), which would most certainly slow the entire operation down.

    www.mojaveunderground.com/0617.rom

Includes my customized memory timings. Clocks already set to 600/1600/975 @ 1.05v. Also includes my low frequency and low voltage power saving modes, taking the .85v on 2D and Thrtl down to .7v; 2D clocks at 150/300/100 and Thrtl to 383/767/301, allowing for half decent gaming on battery power. Works best with Dox's 180.44 drivers, power mizer off. Hope that helps, guys.

0617 vBIOS is much better than the 0608 vBIOS. Happy benching! :)

    This is not your reworked one! Clockrates are at 600 / 1600 / 975, but the 2D clock is 200 / 400 / 100 (not 150 / 300 / 100). I must change the Device ID to 0608 to see the correct clockrates?!

no one can see it as 0617. you have to change it that to flash, but 0608 to see it.

    it's a few steps...

but all you need to do is flash it. not investigate it...*LOL*

investigate it after you flash. else you may inadvertently change it.

Download it again... I didn't have the low freqs in the one you downloaded.

Open it up as a Geforce 8, change the ID to 0608 to see any changes, and if you want to save any changes you've made, set it as 0617 before saving again. Then reflash it.

I didn't even know that you could run an Extreme model...

Vantage seems to be a bit unstable compared to 3DMark 06. I can do a successful run at high frequencies in 06, but Vantage will crash under the same settings.

in your case...it's that 1720 shaders. but there are a few work arounds. and it's not always how high the clocks are. it's a combination of things... i know people live by ati artifact tool, but it's nothing like opening something like crysis at your highest res and take your run from there.

edit: for the record...those clocks won't fly in sli mode for 3dmark06 or vantage. just tried and they got about 8 seconds 3dmark & 20 seconds vantage.
