My 7970 has enduro enabled, I cannot disable it like on the Alienware computers. So should I be using the performance enduro drivers, or the latest beta driver. Still confused, sorry.

I remember the page releasing on the 14th, and I don't recall the date being labeled November 6th at any time. Has the driver version changed?

Something I never really considered is whether AMD will also make targeted drivers for owners of the 7950M, 7850M, 7690M, etc, video cards. It is awesome that AMD put in the time to make sure the top dog was running on decent drivers, but I feel bad that other 7000M owners are not getting similar attention. This one does support pretty much every video card from the 5000 series and up, however.

    Switchable graphics global settings-maximize performance
It doesn't completely use 7970M but it'll use it at almost every situation. Just don't forget that this means your GPU fan will always work. It's very annoying when not using headphones.

It's still the same enduro setup with the integrated GPU outputting the frames and the 7970M doing the rendering to its frame buffer so it has no impact on performance compared to not maximised for every app unless its not in the list.

Afaik the enduro performance issues are more to do with the intel/amd behavior which does not apply to lower cards as much.

Yup. Everything works for me, too. I'm beginning to get the feeling that some of these problems are due to user error. XD

    /sarcasm

But in the spirit of being helpful, all I can say is to read up on how others install/update drivers and see that person's track record. If that person has never had serious issues before, then you can try following that person's steps or PM that person to help you out. I find it hard to believe that there are any issues with these new drivers in terms of random BSODs and black screens when done right.

I had the same issue. AMD's uninstall sucks. After reboot right click to desktop. CCC is still there. Or maybe your files are okay. Activate your GPU with opening something BEFORE opening Afterburner or anything else.

After uninstall, reboot as safe mode, clean every ati or amd files from system32/drivers; programdata, program files, program files x86, uninstall both devices from device manager, open regedit, delete "system/controlset001/control/class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" and reboot normally. This will remove everything.

If you happen to confront blank screen after welcome text don't panic, everything is okay. This means HD4000 is still there. Reboot to safemode and "uninstall" it.

I am getting BSOD's with AMD 12.8 (nov16) when I try to OC with Afterburner 2.2.0.
Also Furmark doesn't seem to detect the GPU load or temperature, just like Afterburner, but the performance is 7970 grade and not HD4000 so it's switching.

I was running stock AMD 12.6 on my BTO P170EM and uninstalled them the normal way.
I didn't run in safe mode, I didn't check for remnants of CCC either.
I first installed the latest Intel drivers for the HD4000, rebooted, then the AMD 12.8 drivers from November 16. (so NOT the Enduro performance driver).

Before (on 12.6), I could simply OC with Afterburner 2.2.0, but now (on 12.8) when I select an OC profile it goes to BSOD as soon as I click 'Apply'. And as I said, no temp or load detection anymore.

I am clueless. Games work. It's all stable. But when I try to OC... BSOD...
I did use the 12.8 drivers with .NET4, but that shouldn't make a difference I think.

Anny help would be greatly appreciated.

" Can anyone confirm the fix with DX9/DX10 games? I'm getting like 60% utilization still in guild wars 2... around 40 fps with medium/high settings >.<. Both Borderlands 2 and GW2 stopped having hiccups / frame spikes though so I'd say this one driver's pretty good."

Nope, same crappy underutilization in DCS World with their performance drivers. Something around 50-60% utilization and 20 FPS min
This doesnt seem to give even 1% of benefit over 12.7

This driver is no good for me. I have chrome set to Power Saving and is the only thing i have open and all i hear is the fans going nuts. Also I can't start League of Legends any more, the launcher just crashes.
    I'm reverting back to 12.11 beta 8.

I'll try these drivers under Win8 to see if they are better there.

With 12.11P, there is a process called MMLoadDrvPXDiscrete.exe that at first loads up and does it's work for a bit then goes back to 0% usage, but with any further restarts, MMLoadDrvPXDiscrete.exe will load up and continuously use 13% CPU. Ending that process made my fans go back to normal speed, but games still loaded up with black screens.

I also upgraded to 12.11 beta8. 12.11P may be stable for gaming when it works, but in terms of it being reliable, it is a joke.

    Wow...)

I'm surprised. This driver is working phenomenally for me. Holding a steady 47 fps (ultra) on BF3. Getting 80% utilization, which is way better than what I used to get (50%.) AWESOME!

Well we did see a similar evolving of optimus, hopefully next generation they will improve the software and hardware side of things to make sure you get an even better experience. But there is still much they can do for the 7970M now I feel.

    Guys,

    Interesting test..

I compared AMD 12.8 v 12.11 beta 8 and the beta 8 although it gives better fps in certain games (mind you 3dmark11 I got better score with 12.8) the image quality is much worst with 12.11beta8.
I tested IQ on Max Payne 3, Hitman:Absolution and Assasin Creed 3 and the IQ on 12.8 is absolutely stunning. 12.11 beta8 for some reason or another has a jaggedness to edges that is more pronounced and tends to be of a lesser quality in contrast/colors.

Curious what others find. I have yet to test 12.10.

stop comparing, if you got lower 3dmark11 scores on beta8 you just installed the driver wrong, 12.8 to 12.11 beta 3dmark11 scores are 5900 (12.8) to 6620 (12.11 beta7 and 12.11p) (in my notebook at least, and several others i have read)

    Yes.. Definitely
and always used driver cleaner to clean old registries of AMD drivers. I did this driver comparison swap 4 times and each time same results.
Maybe the 6990m isn't getting the same benefit as the 7970m???
But one thing is for certain image quality is worst on 12.11beta8....
I may grab some screen shots and post them.. stay tuned..

Well. has anyone tested the IQ of 12.11beta8 to the prior drivers from AMD?
Sometimes to get such a large 3dmark11 score they cut corners...
Can anyone post a link comparing IQ of the latest AMD drivers to old? I have checked guru3d but not much mentioned there in comparison of IQ.

Don't need to use driver sweeper. Just install the beta over the stock with a custom install and uncheck everything but display driver. You will be fine and don't get any bsod since you will use the stock CCC.

I wanted to my thread out there for 7970M users still getting BSODs: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/701124-prevent-bsods-startup.html

It seems I posted it at a bad time, as it has not gathered any replies on failures/successes. What I did was disable Catalyst Control Center for startup, and now I never get BSODs after entering the desktop. I simply wait for everything to load and then manually start CCC. I really think this is the easiest and safest fix I have tried.

I'm having the same problem. After searching for a huge while I actually came across this thread with the Enduro_9.01 driver exe. I made sure to deactivate CCC since that seems to cause problems...

It's just hard digesting all this conflicting information. There should be a thread on sticky saying: ENDURO - ? - Best drivers, best CCC, wat to do. Even if it's giving 4 different solutions with the hint that one of them might work best for you, at least they should be clear... And written by someone actually understanding this mess :D (which I... frankly, don't... sorry.)

    Hi everybody!
I've a stupid question to ask, because i've read a thousand thread regarding the enduro problem but i don't find the answer to my question.
I've buyed a clevo NB with 7970M and intel i7 which will arrive in a couple of day.
Im going to install Win8pro on this notebook, also i need to know what driver for the 7970m i need to install. The older Enduro driver AMD CATALYST (dated 14/11/2012) or the newer 12.11 Beta11 driver AMD Catalyst (dated 3/12/2012)?
Also the driver that i will install can be installed "as is" or i need to install an older driver and then overwrite with the newer?
The intel HD4000 must be installed before or after the ATI driver?
Please forgive me if there was already stated, but i need a little summary.
    Thanks!

That's exactly the problem though I guess. All the different methods seem to have different results for different people... it almost seems like luck lol.

Does anyone know how to prevent BF3 from crashing every time it opens on this driver? I can't even get it to start ever since I installed this one. Come on AMD get your f*cking act together.

The windows 8 version likely uses a slightly different CCC so this may indicate why the difference between the two OSs. Interesting.

I'm using the Performance 12.11 driver. Maybe just my machine, but the other drivers haven broken Enduro. The zero-core function doesn't work, which severely reduces my battery life and constantly has the 7970M fan running intermittently. Performnace driver for me, zero core works, battery life as it should be and 7970M fan off when idle.
