I don't think anyone has the card yet, besides Alienware owners.

Where have you been hiding, Mr. Mysterious?
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Lol hiding? No, I've just been busy with real life. Spending less time on the computer and more time exercising, hanging out and spending time with friends.
Back on topic...I'll post my question on the AW forums in that case
Mr. Mysterious -
Just purchased a P151HM with 6990m from MALIBAL. Great service.
Once I've received it and stopped drooling, I'll try to remember to do benchmarks. -
Hey Mysterious, ALienware here, but I think the experience is transferable. These cards OWN, hands down. Rock solid, great performance and if yur into overclocking these things clock like nobody's business at standard voltage in a warm room, with no fan control and with heat room to move upward if we decide to overvolt.
I am SO fricken impressed. -

By the way, I hate you Shaden
Sooooo jealous.
Mr. Mysterious -
No way 8870 3dmark 11 Xfire?!?!
that's... unreal, the GTX 580 if it's lucky grabs 6k, my water just broke..wait...or was that
What about vantage gpu score? Could you post that result when you have time if it's no trouble good sir?
865 core clock, that puts it close to reaching desktop 6870 scores, as it's clocked at 900mhz I believe...impressive for an AMD mobile card to clock like that. I think we have a winner, what has the 580m been able to get clock wise?
BTW desktop OVERCLOCKED 6870 crossfire score is 8799 check it out, obviously skip to the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwcsaUJ2eN0 -
isn't the 485m based on the gtx 560 ti? they both have 384 cuda cores. so basically the 580m is just a more refined version of the 485m, although the 580m runs at a lower voltage so if you could up the voltage to the same as the 485m then you would have a real beast probably capable of using similar if not higher clocks than the gtx 560 ti.
-
nope, 485m based on gf104, but a well selected rare gf104
580m based on a respined gf114, average performance is as good as the rare gf104
see this
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/595787-extreme-gtx580m-overclocking.html#post7718089
oc 6990m beat oc 580m over 800 points at 11 , but vantage, have to oc to 1ghz to catch up oc 580m -
im not sure which gf104 has 384 cuda cores though so i still think its the 114, but im not sure how the voltage plays into this. also on my 485m i can clock it to 730/1827 if the room is cool, and its completely stable at 715/1814. you can unlock the memory clocks in nv inspector. perhaps you should try doing that.
-
So much potential in these GPUs! I'm probably too afraid to hit anything over 800MHz, though I'll keep it always at 740MHz (AMD Overdrive default).

Here is a update and some pics
Don't know what card/heatsink is being used as reported earlier but the Clevo 6990M Heatsink is
different then the 6970M heatsink as reported earlier.
Status update on the AMD 6990M, Sager is still on schedule for their announced Friday August 12th, 2011 launch of the new AMD Radeon 6990M Cards.
Sager has been informed that there are AMD engineering sample cards being circulated in the market.
Attached are pictures to help identify Genuine Clevo production cards.
Picture 1 and 2 are the front and back side of the graphics card, the GPU die does not have ENG marking on it. Clevo is building them using only green colored cards.
Picture 3 show the modifications of the GPU heat sink that is to be paired with the new card.
Picture 4 is the original 6970M GPU heat sink. -
So once Friday hits, how long till they ship to customers? Do they ship to customers directly from Sager?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
For Sager Dealers, yes shipments start Friday. They were supposed to start today/tomorrow but due to a storm in Shanghai, shipment was delayed a bit. Any Sager Reseller's units ship directly from Sager.
As for shipping time it depends on when customers ordered on when they will get machines. This GPU is VERY popular and thousands have been sold since it's release just last week. Orders are shipped on a first in - first out basis as usual. -
Thank you Justin
So the 6990M vRAM heatsink is the same as that of 6970M (6-31-X510N-600)
But for the die heatsink, are you sure that the one in the photo (6-31-X510N-203) is not that of the GTX 560M? Can the 560M owners check this please? Tirenz? -
yep, I'm interning in Shanghai atm and there was a supposed to be a huge typhoon last weekend...though it got rather overhyped.
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Mem is same yes, GPU is new. -
Nice thanks Justin for the official word finally, but green PCB?? that's odd, what is that all about.
-
hey, does the latest Catalyst mobile driver recognize the AMD 6990m or is still considered 6900m series or 6970m in the driver?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
All Clevo AMD/ATi cards of late are green unlike the Dell version or others.

Just to let everyone know the first batch of 6990m's that we shipped out today to customers are the real thing. My mistake on the earlier that it was the same GPU heatsink, just glanced at it and it looked the same but after double checking it is indeed a different mount pattern. And all of our cards are Mass Production Cards, not ES's. We've already sent our samples back as requested by AMD =)
And they do show up in the drivers as a 6900m series. -
Thanks for the high quality pictures!
EDIT:
I see Justin@ExoticPC posted them on the previous page, too. Props to both. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
No problem glad to post pictures of it. Somebody had to
-
So the process for upgrading the thermal compound would be to remove the heatsink, clean off the old compound, apply the new compound, reattach the heatsink?
Do I have to worry about thermal pads on the rest of the card? -
Now, if someone would just test the max power consumption with the 6970m and the 6990m with a killawatt
-
Will sager/xotic/malibal offer to buy the gpu separately? Nothing wrong with the gtx560 in the np8130, but I am thinking a bit more down the line.
-
I don't know about sager/xotic/malibal. but you have the separate video card here :

god this intenet sucks in iraq- its worse than looking at pics on 56k circa 1996!! those of you who are old enough remember what we are talking about.....
-
/me rocked his 14.4K modem (When I could get a "highspeed line" otherwise 2800bps) playing some quakeworld and Q.. now get off my lawn!
-
I remember upgrading from a 2400 baud to a 28.8 US Robotics. Ah the days of keying in the codes to disable call waiting do your DL wouldn't get bumped offline. Trying for days to download the 1.44 MB Doom demo.

Good News from Sager!
"Good news to all, sager has put in extra overtime running double shifts since we received our 6990M cards.
Orders will begin shipping today, batches are being packed and send to our shipping docks for pickup as I write this email."

great news
-
Hopefully mine will ship out soon
-
talked to Malibal today, they say shipping later next week.:confused2:
Malibal, please correct me if I am wrong (hopefull I am) -
When did you order it?
-
Mine arrives tomorrow from Mythlogic
-
jealous! luckily for me though I'm going to be in college on the 20th so everything works out
btw just wondering why do you have some much RAM? -
Hey guys ... I haven't checked this thread in a couple days BUT ... I have done further pushing with the 6990s using custom fan control via HWinfo64 ... VERY impressive.
3dmark11 GPU Score of 8998 !!!!
Over all score of 7815 (but I am only on a 2630)
Clocks of 870 / 1200 and I think tomorrow I might push that mem clock a little farther.
Here is the perma link to my screen caps, fricken 3dMark11 website is all screwed up again.
And Mysterious, don't be jealous, just be happy when you get yours

This is a thread about "ATI HD 6990m", I don't know what relation it has with your post. You have another section for off-topic
Second, if you are not happy in Iraq, go home. I think that the Iraqis also are not happy that you are there ! -
I need the extra RAM to give to some VMs
-
I took his post within content, as there were images posted at the top of the page where his post resides ( top of page 58); he might've even been referring to using the link you posted up yourself. I can relate his comment about 56k circa without any issues.
The rest sounds personal and you should take your own advice:
off-topic
Unless he's a private contractor or a front line MOS, chances are he would rather be stateside. If you read his post carefully, all he stated was that he was not content with the internet service found at his current location; no more no less. -
Order placed 8/4
-
You have no business criticizing our military. These guys are the best in the world. he can say whatever he wants wherever he wants to say it. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE, DONT GO THERE pkhetan.
-
Guys tone it down. This is not the time or place. Go argue in Off-Topic or preferably in PMs.
-
And like someone from Greece has any room to talk about us, you have your own issues to worry about.
Where is the Admin? This is stupid. -
Stop feeding the trolls Drummerboy!
-
So I give this information because there still some people here in the forum (actually a lot) who deserve the help that I offer :
For the photos that were published previously by some Sager resellers, it seems that the heatsink P/N: 6-31-X510N-203 (the die GPU one) is INDEED A GTX 560M HEATSINK AND NOT FOR THE 6990M
This could explain the high temperature that some met while testing the 6990M !
I strongly advice Sager resellers here to contact Sager before they start shipping their notebooks built with the wrong heatsink. -
well that's not good...
