If Physx was on, the CPU score would be over 30k.

So, my scores are correct right.

Affirmative!

Along with the AMD 6990M great news there is this....
-
You just quote your own post?
Thank you glad the 2630 is still intact
-
Just some more temperatures I'd thought I'd post.
Battlefield BC 2: 85C, this is the highest I've seen my 6990M hit.
Oblivion (all time favorite game): 76C-78C, my laptop destroyed Oblivion like it was a joke lol. I'm so pumped for Skyrim to come out! -
Wow that is really high swimmer. I mean it not 90C but 85C would scare me. I have BC 2, I will try to update it all in one day and post the result as well.
My question to you is the 85C is that the GPU or CPU or other temperatures on ICUID (HWmonitor)? -
I cant wait to play oblivion on max settings with the new laptop i am ordering. its a fun game and im only 1/3 of the way through it on low settings with my old laptop im using right now.
-
Actually 85C isn't bad at all, and that's the GPU with HW Monitor.
EDIT: My CPU never goes higher then 70C in BC 2 and 60C in Oblivion. -
That's normal... if your room's temp is around 29oC. If it's 23oC, then it's not.
-
My room temperature is like 23C and I'm pretty sure my temps are fine, I've seen 92-97C on the 6990M quite often.
-
Is it worth upgrading directly to the 6990m, or getting the 560m and upgrading yourself later (with the possibility of selling the 560m)?
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
If you have the money, it's always best to buy the highest end card you can afford now. While upgrading is possible, the cards separately go for > $500, depending on the exact model. You might have a hard time selling the low end MXM card like the 560m because there was no lower model other than the 460m, so the only people looking to buy will be those that need a replacement for a failed card. (Basically, it's not an "upgrade" for anyone other than 460m owners, as it's a baseline card. And an upgrade for 460m > 560m is minimal).
It's also hard to say if the cards will even be available new in a few years. The higher cost is the bigger barrier though for separate cards. -
Bluntly, no one wants to buy a 560M today, so hoping to sell one tomorrow is laughable.
It's better to assume that the best currently available GPU is the highest tier card you'll ever be able to put into the machine. It will always cost you a lot more to upgrade at a later date.
The 6990M is +245 on purchase, but the instant the machine shows up at your door, it's now +500 something. Why spend 2x as much later?
There's a very slim chance that 2012's mobile graphics will be usable in today's Clevo machines, so there's really nothing to hold out for later. -

Hi,
I am planning to buy a 150HM model with this card,I am a bit worried about the graphic card heating though. Can some one who owns this model confirm if they are having any issue with this model?and if they have a notebook cooler/extra cooling paste applied. -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
^^^^The cooling in this 15' laptop is really better than average. The 6990M is designed to go into the high 80's and even 90C while gaming and benchmarking. Sager has verified these temps as acceptable...

oh,thanks.
-
I posted some temperatures on the page before.
-
I did check that,85c is ok for me but 1/2 people have posted a 90 which makes me go
,still leaning towards 6990
..could anyone suggest a nice cooler
for NP150HM with 6990?

Mr. Mysterious -
I ordered myself a cooler yesterday, it should be coming sometime this week. I'll post up some more temperatures when I get it.
-
Also raise the back of your lappy if your having heat issues and you might get up to about 5 degree decrease in temps.
-
Thanks
man.
-
I was a bit horrified with my temps at first but after re pasting with ICD7 my temps are all very acceptable now.

So, if your room's temp gets 30oC, your card will reach 90oC and more, which means that crysis will push temperature even higher (94-95), not to mention furmark (98+). Do you have your laptop's back raised?
-
Wouldn't that high of temps burn you? Anything above 50c seems so incredibly high. I just ordered a P170 with a 6990m and I want to know if this thing will burn my skin off.

Evil, Lost.
Under 45C at idle is fine. Trust me.
In either case, you should not, under any circumstance, keep your Sager on your laps.
This is a notebook. Not a laptop.
If you want a laptop, look at some ultralights.
Mr. Mysterious -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
You really shouldn't be using it directly in your lap. The intake vents for the fans are on the bottom of the machine and can be easily covered up that way (which will make it quite toasty). I'd highly recommend using it on a hard and flat surface (even a board on your lap with the laptop on it).
It doesn't normally get hot to the touch on the exterior, but blocking the intakes will cause problems. The GPU/CPU temps do not directly translate to case temperature. (It does exhaust toasty air from the vents on the rear though) -
So how am I supposed to play this in bed?
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
See above. If you plan to use it in your lap, you may want to look into getting a notebook cooler, lap desk, etc. You can try it without, but you may run into heat problems if you cover the intake and/or exhaust vents. -
I have a wooden tv food tray thingy thats as tall as my bed, i sit my laptop on it with my laptop cooler, and i lay in bed or sit on bed and play ect. works great
-
Depends really, I've seen so many different temperatures on these 6990M's it's hard to pinpoint an exact temperature you will actually get. I've seen people with room temperatures higher then mine with lower temperatures on their card. Unsure about furmark because I'm never going to run in on my laptop because I don't see the point.
-
lol
Grow a dome and come up with something!
*hands the empty spoon to mrfranevil* -
Hmm sounds interesting, but do we need to repaste it again if we already have ICD7 from start? Also is it easy to do this?
-
You could also try this
:
Belkin CushDesk F8N143
My friend has it, and it is particularly useful for using your laptop in bed. -
No not unless you are getting unusually high temps and/or suspect there was a bad paste job done. I only re pasted as my notebook came with stock paste then again after the AS5 wasn't doing a good enough job. The AS5 was a bit of a stop gap until I could get my hands on some ICD7 anyway.
It is dead simple to re paste yourself. Once you unscrew the back panel everything is sitting there nicely for you to play with.
As for playing in bed, I use this Portable Lapdesk N315
Its fantastic as is the size of my 15.6" notebook and the mouse tray is a strong enough that playing BFBC2 on it with my Razer Orochi works great. It doesn't have any extra cooling functionality but will keep the vents in the bottom open to the air. -

This may be something to consider while in bed...
laptop desks with speakers at Brookstone.

or you can consider something like this in bed

So, I just got my laptop in today, and while trying to install the VGA driver from the driver disk, I get the message "Device was not found or please enable it before installing its driver!!" Can anyone help with this?

Check your PM's, Rah... already replied.

We would like to get the latest on how the temps are doing with this card in your machine. Can some chime in on this?

Without cooler
-BF:BC2 84-85C
-3D Mark Vantage 82C
-Oblivion 78C
With Cooler My Notebook Cooler is the NZXT CRYO
-BF:BC 2 80-81C
-3D Mark Vantage 78-79C
-Oblivion 75-76C -
Nice. Hopefully I will have similar temps when i get my rig
-
I've got the NZXT CRYO as well, with stable OC'ing to 845/990 I never pass 79C vantage/unigine/crysis Are there any bios voltage mods to increase the 6990m's voltage to something like 1.15 or 1.2?
I should also add that Pressing "FN + 1" doesn't change my fan speeds. I see a little icon that pops up up that looks like a thumbs up, but nothing happens. Anyone experience this or have a solution? -
Hmm, I have not overclocked my 6990M yet because I don't really know how lol. Also Fn+1 Should work, when I press it on my the fans really ramp up and it's very noticeable. I wonder why yours isn't working?
-
I am planning to but this cooler for my MALIBAL Lotus P150HM with 6990m,can some tell how this would be?or suggest a better choice...
