I'm getting really frustrated with having to read your repetitive posts.

Clevo has just addesd the 6990M in their product specifications for P150HM & P170HM at the website. And by the way they also added the 580M to the P170HM3, so the 580M now officially support 3D

It looks like Clevo is still posting the same old 26849 drivers for the 580M. These drivers are very limiting we are finding.
- -
I haven't had any problem installing non-dell drivers at all.
-
That only apply to the P170 though.
-
I don't see it, where is it?
-
So you didn't find that announce in Clevo website but though you give information on that
You have to do your homework better. -
I saw it on google but not from Clevo directly. I check out their website, and no mention of the 6990m in any of their configuration.

And for the P170HM3 supporting the 580M :

Unbelievable I was looking at the same page and didn't notice it. I saw two 580m but must have miss the small 6990m in the middle.
-
true, clevo 268.49 no good@3dmark 11, 580M sli got same score as gtx485m [email protected]
but vantage as good as 280.07 we saw
ocing them now
-
c'mon man! give us some results
-
Seriously you have 580s !? Benches !!!
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes I have reported that the 26849 drivers are not good for benching. Just like when the 485M's were released back in January this year we had to wait several weeks for good drivers to surface. Sorry...

Hmm wonder when malibal will have 6990m option
-
Hi, we don't have an ETA right now, but if you follow us on Twitter or Facebook - it will be posted there as soon as we have it available for order.
-
Hopefully its not to long. That the one things thats preventing me from ordering a new laptop.
-
Same just waiting for Malibal to give the green light! and my notebook will be on order!
-
I guess we're all in the same boat
-
Hi, it looks like we will have the 6990M around Mid August.
-
And we'll probably start shipping late next week..
Also check the pricing, the new updated pricing is insane, it really is
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
Jeebus.
What PSU does the 6990 require? -
The big one (180W) for the 15"'s
-
Wow I didn't realize the gap between Mythlogic and Malibal for shippment of the 6990m was weeks apart.
Oh Malibal how I wish you could only get them sooner.
Yup that pricepoint is insane, and I am almost certain Nvidia 580m will go down in price as they realize how dumb their pricing really are.
It so insane I think I'm going to not game all summer long because it performance and pricepoint is INSANE, of course that what you just said.
Why do all good things take so long to receive?
-
So if there isn't another mxm 3.0b card thats more powerful(28nm kepler) will i be able to upgrade my p150hm that has a 485m to the 6990m or is that not possible?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
I am sure in the end, Sager will get them first as with other new technology releases. Sager is just more conservative/realistic when it comes to ETA's. -
I don't see why not, but by the time you upgrade, we will have cards that run Metro 2033 on ultra maybe at 60fps
What do you mean by this? Are you saying it will arrive sooner than mid-august? -
amd's leaked stuff says their 7k series will be mxm 3.0
-
lol well that pretty much guarantees that nvidia will be the same as well, otherwise they would have to make a new format of connector and it would only work with certain laptops. so it looks like i will be able to upgrade in the future.
-
DANG - man I feel stupid - 3 weeks after I get my lappy my GPU is 1/4 the price I paid and the new version is $100 less.
-
1/4 the price you pay?
-
for the upgrade he means...
-
There's a couple of problems with believing that.
1. Specs for something a year away are never final. The plans may say it's using 3.0, only because that's all which is available at this moment.
2. Nvidia has complete control over MXM:
If they decide to go to some kind of next-gen 4.0, AMD is forced to do the same. -
imo it would be stupid to do another mxm as it isn't even't using close to its full capacity, except wattage, which shouldn't increase anymore anyways. also the 485m should really be the 580m, and the 580m should be the 585m, because the step from from 480m to 485m was so large.
-
If they do another MXM, I doubt it'll be for more power. The trend in computing is battery life and portability. The days for monster laptops (and desktops) are quickly coming to an end. If both companies want to continue making GPUs for laptops, they'd better get with the program and FAST. The train is leaving.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its the same on the desktop world, the cards have reached the amount of wattage provided by the pcie slot, not the bandwidth. pcie x8 works pretty well.
However its hard to believe that the people are going to go for a higher than 100w TDP (for nvidia tdp= power consumption), although the die shrink would help to keep the TDP down, chips works as resistors, thus the higher the power consumption the higher the TDP, so its really hard to believe that -

What I am referring to is that any release info out right now take with a grain of salt. As you can see with history here on the forums any new tech release Sager Branded machines have always been the first to ship in the past. Many companies out there tout ETA's that are no more then a guess. Sager will release it once there is a solid ETA. All we know now is sometime in August, once Sager is provided in a solid ETA, you will see the GPU available for order. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
a guy from the aw forums received his m18x with a 6990 in cf, he is posting benchies right now
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m18x/596922-i-have-6990m-cfx-already-but.html -
Sooner or later, does this mean it might not come in August, oh man I don't think I can wait that long.
-
ya i couldnt wait, so i got mine with the 580m, i killing crysis 2 with everything on ultra and there hasnt been a slow monent, even with heavy action. trust me u cant go wrong with the 580 or 6990.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
August has 31 days, a lot of good things can happen in that time span...
_ -
hmm....you give me an interesting proposal. I must say August 1st would be what I consider a good thing
-
Read on the 580M thread that supposedly the 6990M is going to be cheaper? Is there a reason for that (relative to the 580M anyway)?
Also, is this MXM III type B just like the 580M? -
It only about $400 dollar cheaper
-
The 580m should go down in price once the 6990m comes out.
-
Yessir it most diddly-iddidly is
-
Will, the 485M didn't go cheaper when the 6970M came out !
-
I don't really want to start a whole new thread over this so I guess I'll ask here. I just placed my order with XoticPC for a P150HM with the 485M and the ongoing promotion they're having (which saves me about $100), only to hear news of the 6990M. I need my laptop by August 30 so I can bring it along to school (the laptop is going to be my only computer for my years of college).
Do you guys think I should cancel the order and wait for the 6990M to come out? Or just take what I'm already getting?
Thanks for the help. :0 -
Well, you don't need it before the 31ist August. So, yes it's better to wait. You will get better and cheaper
-
Your situation is easy, just wait.
