I guess it's never really well advertised but does anyone know how the 3D works for ATI? I'm planning on pulling the trigger on the 8150 once the 6990 becomes available to pair it with an Asus 3d monitor but I don't know much about eye infinity. Btw, I'm mainly watching movies in 3D.

A guy at Mythologic told me that they aren't shipping them until next week, so maybe that's when everyone else is showing theirs?

    One way, as I did,

is to get the upgrade pack from the resellers which includes the full cost of the card,

    and sell your 460m.

That way, I got even on whatever upgrade price I would have paid, and I think I got some left over as well.

As soon as Clevo start selling this Very Waited For card, I'll PM you :)
They have upgrade pack (card + heatsink) for every card officially supported for a specific model.

The problem will be is that Sager will ship their branded models first and for a while before shipping any other brand. Any Sager dealer can launch a Pre Order for it but will jeopardize their shipments of it. Those that launch the Pre Order will not ship for possibly several weeks while Sager Branded units are shipping regularly.

Keep this in mind for those that are interested in this Card. :)

Any Clevo machine, whether Sager Branded or Re branded, and purchased from Sager would be affected by this. Unfortunately this isn't the first time it has happened. Patience is a virtue. :)

Argh very frustrating. Malibal has the 6990M available for preorder but no improved screen for the Satori P170HM. XoticPc doesn't have the 6990M available for order but has upgraded screens.

I'm ready to push an order button! Someone take my money!

Mythologic is also about 200 plus more :( and take 2 to 3 weeks in production before the 4-5 days shipping but they do custom notebook so if you can wait and have money to spend, they are the man!

4-5 day shipping? I disagree as I had mine in two. And also, when I built my laptop, they were right about the same. They also have the benefit of not being a Sager reseller

What I am saying is that if any seller (that purchase from Sager) & advertise the 6990M pre-maturely, their orders will be held behind (could be several weeks) while Sager Branded orders will be shipping regularly.

If a customer orders with one of these sellers and they place the order with Sager, Sager will put it on hold on their order and continually process Sager Branded Orders. This would obviously cause frustration to customers that are seeing Sager Branded customers shipping regularly while their orders are pending.

Sager has always taken a conservative stance to not advertise a item until they have a firm ETA and normally it is a short period from when it is launched until shipments start. As history has shown us here over the years Sager has always had the latest technology first in and out.

I understand the frustration but placing the order now will not get you the GPU any sooner unfortunately. We are getting very close to release :)

Not being a Sager reseller is not a good thing when it comes to delivery times of new technology :(

I'm in the same predicament. I want the better screen but I also want the 6990. I don't want to settle for the 8150 because I want the 17 inch.

While I agree with you about the first point (the sellers that have already a 6990M preorder will not be the first to ship these cards), but I disagree with you about the second point, Sager will release their branded notebooks and the Clevo barebones at the same time. There is something in the business called CONTRACT.

I have no problem waiting a month or so for the laptop. I'd just like to get an order in now so I can check the laptop search off in my mind. :) Unfortunately I have to wait until Xotic or Malibal lists both together.

Thanks for the link to Mythlogic, unfortunately their prices are hundreds more than Xotic or Malibal.

    Which one are you? :D

I don't understand if you guys have them, why can't you ship them out unless it has something to do with dell deal with the 6990m? The 6990m was release on July 12, so by my estimate, you guys should be able to ship it out as soon as that deal is up which would be the the 2nd of August right?

All Sager/Clevo dealers reseller builder, their machine is originally shipped form Clevo Co factory in China or Taiwan. If Clevo Co doesnt ship yet the 6990M notebooks, then no one will have it. the only exception that could be done is if a builder can get a barebone without GPU and buy individually the GPU from somewhere else (DELL for example) and this supposing that the vBIOS in the DELL cards are compatible withthe Clevo Mainboard.

Clevo Co is the ODM of Sager, so it's them who sell to Sager (I'm not talking here about Clevo as a brand)

As history has shown in every other release, this is normally how it works. As I posted above Sager has always been conservative and waits until they have a solid ETA or there is a limited window from release to shipment. :)

ATI seems to like screwing with NVdia as they always decide to offer something cheaper. Just like the case with 485 and 6970. They didnt really have that big of a difference. But the prices where around half... ATI wins the world.

Other than screwing with Nvidia, isn't it also a bit of an olive branch to the consumers as well? They had some terrible drivers and what not and quite likely lost a bit of business and are now at the point of wooing customers back. Either way, I know I'm going to enjoy mine when it arrives. ; )
