Scan UK also have pick and return 2 yr warranty. I brought two computers from them and customer service is fine.

weeell, lets say im comparing the prices of the SG in identical configurations from mySn/Schenker and Bluemobility, then in the end mySn will cost me 13.57% more. Sooo, i configured the P751ZM in the pre-order configuration page with bluemobility, took the base cpu model (that i would sell on ebay right after getting the machine) and would get the 4790K as an aftermarket upgrade for 300€ in the boxed version. all in all, i would only have to pay about 50€ more for the P751ZM than for my current SG order (which i JUST canceled, btw
), factoring in the 13.57% premium Id have to pay with schenker including the 4yr extended warranty
totally fine by me! also, loving the looks of the super massive CPU/GPU heatsink so im very optimistic concerning tempsonly thing missing would probably be a 330W PSU for proper overclocking, but ive modded PSUs before, so that shouldnt be an issue...

I love the fact that Clevo is actually giving us something we want, desktop cpu's in a normale sized gaming laptop, even more so when most other brands are taking the soldered route, lets just hope the cooling and rest of the package is good, quality chassis, with better keyboard and audio, IPS screen etc
-
The only thing missing now is a GTX 980!
-
On the bright side it does appear the heatsink comes with a huge CPU plate, so lapping should be feasible despite how clunky the heatsink is.
-
I have been pretty busy lately and haven't had the chance to be on the CLEVO forums much but wow these new models are simply awesome.CLEVO has really stepped up there game with the newer thinner models and then I see this model
My first CLEVO was a D900F....good times.
This seems like a worthy successor but now I'm totally thrown for a loop since I was almost ready to order a MSI GT72 (great laptop on its own) but this just changes things. -
LGA 1150 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
quote:
"On May 12, 2014, Intel announced the release of two 9-series chipsets, H97 and Z97.[18] Differences and new features of these two chipsets, when compared to their H87 and Z87 counterparts, are the following:[19][20][21][22]
Support for Haswell Refresh CPUs out of the box
Support for SATA Express, M.2[23] and Thunderbolt, though only if implemented by the motherboard's manufacturer
Preliminary support for the future fifth generation of Intel Core CPUs, built around the Broadwell microarchitecture"
oh yeah baby yeah, oh behaaaave!
-
I thought Broadwell was going to use an LGA1151 socket?
-
That's Skylake, Broadwell is still LGA 1150.
And I don't know what you guys are so excited about, there's nothing (not even a rumor) that says Broadwell is going to be any improvement over Haswell. If anything, I predict the heat is going to get worse as process shrinks inevitably leads to higher thermal density. -
um, hello? were getting excited cuz how many laptops do u actually get that support more than one cpu generation?
always great to have options, so lets wait and see first what broadwell will bring to the table.

If your predictions do turn out to be true then you can crow all you want. -
Just sold my Clovo P150SM, now I only have my tablet. Really need to know the ETA of this model.
-
we can do it bigspin! hold on to your tablet while i hold on to my HD 3000 IGP, the ZM series will come soon enough!
-
Hopefully we'll get to know something this week.
-
thats what im hoping for as well. would be the same time frame as for the P6x0Sx series: leaked specs sheet came out in september, preordering started mid october.
ZM specs sheet is dated october, so preordering starting mid-november...? heres to hoping! -
First Intel kills socketed mobile chips starting with Broadwell, then Intel in their infinite wisdom decided it would be a good idea to bring BGA to desktop Skylake CPUs as well, and only changed course at the last minute. Then you look at just how much we've really improved from Sandy Bridge to Haswell ( 17% on average, and that's over an arch change AND process shrink), and you realize Broadwell, being a simple process shrink, is absolutely nothing to get excited about. And then there's this. (granted it's probably a multitude of issues, but as the title says gives a depressing first impresssion)
The impression I get is that Intel is no longer focused on pushing the performance envelope, and is instead going the "power efficient" route and trying to beef up their IGPs to compete with AMD's APUs. Which would be fine except Haswell is anything but efficient unless at stock, and their IGPs are still total turds.
Ok I'm done. Carry on -
Well we really have no choice in the matter if we want desktop CPU's in a laptop anyway.
What are you going to do wait for Skylake? What if that is setback like Broadwell ?
Anyway I wont be sold unless I see thermals and more info on the laptop itself besides what little we already do know, I'm always hoping for the best unless proven otherwise.
I like the whole idea of a desktop CPU in a laptop for what I do and be a one of the best gaming laptops when I get the urge. -

It's an interesting machine, looking at the weight and performance it's basically a half P570WM ^-^
It could get a real niche if all mobile CPUs go soldered.Prema likes this. -
I pray to the laptop deity it will accept a 330W PSU, and won't be thermally limited. I could live with the components running hot (but not throttling) when overclocked, but if I don't even have the means of supplying sufficient power then that is kind of moot.
Of course you could always mod in your own 330W PSU I guess. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's easy enough to mod so long as the motherboard has no power management stuff going on.
-
I guess you're referring to whatever funny business is going on with the AW18's motherboard?
Any chance you'll benefit us all with your expertise and release a guide? -
meaker always to the rescue
u could potentially amp up ur business by offering modded PSUs on a per order basis
-
its stupid of them to skimp on power supply for $2000+ laptop. how much are they saving with 230w brick $10?
-
No one knows the size of the PSU or how high it's rated yet so people should relax until we find out more info.
-
They probably don't want us to OC (highly unlikely). i7 4790K base clock is 4ghz and it can turbo up to 4.4ghz. That's more than enough for majority of users.
-
the leaked specs sheet by clevo states 230W. thats also definitely sufficient for stock speeds: 88W cpu + 100W gpu leaves 40W for the rest of the system (display 5W, SSD 5W, PCH 5W?), but surely doesnt really leave much headroom for overclocking... should only be around 20W
-
4790 clocks to 4.7 on air on average. At 4.5/ 5.6 ghz we are looking at 210Watts
-
210W only for the cpu? that would be insane, +140% power consumption for just a 12.5% overclock
edit: ok, i guess ure talking consumption for the whole systemheres a very nice Tom´s Hardware article covering the 4790K. they overclocked the cpu to 4.4 ghz on all cores and measured a 20W rise in power consumption, thats not all that bad! but yeah, if one wants to additionally oc the 980M, especially above the stock +135 mhz on the core, than itll get pretty tight with a 230W psu...
-
hm, ok, so it looks like +20-40W for an oc of 400-500 Mhz...
correction: thats actually only 200-300 Mhz at +20-40W, since the stock turbo boost on all cores lies at 4.2 Ghz! so that converts to like 10W/100Mhz OC, oh boy...
so, can anyone discern, whether the ZM series sports a male or female 4-pin DC port? cuz if its male then we can use the 330W AC adapter without any issuesif its female, wed have to look for a male/female adapter cable...
-
That speck sheet wasn't finalized...it was meant for internal use...

Indeed.
And what did I say about 4790K being a power hog when OC'd to 4.5GHz on all 4 cores? -
dunno, what DID u say again?
anyways, just got confirmation from schenker that they cancelled my order for the P651SG and that was actually a good timing apparently: their website doesnt show an ETA for the 4870HQ anymore, just says "not available at this time" :-I
an additional tidbit of info: the p751zm will be the xmg u505 and is expected to be available from mid-decemberso get ready guys, cant be long until preorders anymore!

I'm happy iI went with upgrading my p570wm in the end. Sadly the soldered cpus have thrown a reach into people getting exactly what they want. For that I blame intel.
-
Yeah Clevo's doing their part and are still offering MQ chips, so they really ought to be commended for that.
And sadly, it seems like I'll only be buying Clevo laptops with desktop CPUs from now on, if just to have a socket and be able to tell Intel to p!ss off. -
^ and this is why I want a 4930MX and 980Ms, so that I can keep this machine as long as possible XD. I hope to not buy a new system all the way until Volta and Cannonlake.
-
-
I know right.
-
It's called Volta because instead of sipping volts and outputting heat, it uses heat as its power source and outputs useful electricity instead. Forget about cooling that thing, you want that thing to run HOT HOT HOT because more heat = more volts! Awesome!
...and with that I shall retire to my bedroomPrema, jaybee83, D2 Ultima and 1 other person like this. -

Looks like pretty good news for Clevo P751ZM.
I can not wait to test.. -
Can anyone tell me why the existing firestrike scores for the P750ZM are so low, particularly the physics score?

could still be pre-production samples or something...
Any information on the new Clevo P7x0ZM?
