Or they could be experimenting with low power profiles.

or to save money on future in the future should i wait and buy a p7x0ZM? part of me want to wait, the other part wants to jump right in. -
^ The NP9377 is 980M SLI (the latest configs).

As with ALL of these NEW machines, not much is released until we have confirmed dates on getting them here into the US...per Sager.
The final details of this new one will not be given until then. I can't wait!

lol that just totally cracked me up
-
I just went to blue mobility P75xZM configuration page and they allow you to select 330W PSU . So I guess we don't have to worry about PSU issue anymore .

For example the screen situation. Clevo only buys in 1,000 unit lots. If a vendor cannot give a stable supply for a decent price the screens are not used.
This why sometimes there are more screen choices and other times like now there is not. -
Wow a near fully config'd costs only 3.6k, if its anywhere near that in the US then we're pretty close to the p35x and other prices.
Configured w/ a 980M , 32gb ram, 1tb evo 550, 7 ultimate, 7265 A/C, 1TB storage, no M2's, 15" 1080p,
+ HUGE REP to Bigspin for pointing out the PSU! People are gonna go crazy for this! -
Same here I'm going to buy this as well. Price is very close to p6xx series.

Hopefully this means that US resellers will have it prior to xmas as well. -
same ETA with Schenker here in Germany
im loving the compatibility to 300/330W PSUS! this is AWESOME! 100% my next laptop, ladies! im checking schenker´s website every friggin day for their preorder configurator
even if they dont offer the option of a stronger PSU in the configurator, i can still get it from them on amazon for 89€ shipped
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY! -
Does schenker have it listed already?
-
Depending on what the ETA is for the US w/ Xotic and other places (if they're Jan or later) then this may be my first overseas order lol
-
nope, they dont, thats exactly why im checking in every day to see if they got their preorders up yet
just got the info for dec 15th ETA when i cancelled my P651SG order, thought i might as well wring some info outta them, and it worked

Seeing as the P651 had info out and preorders nearly a month prior, I can see us getting info/preorders ready any day now. Here's hoping Sager has a response by next week.

Looks portable. But still no 4k/3K display. They are getting close to my dream laptop
.
-
-
You mean no 3k display? Its offered with a 4k and 1080p currently as shown on the page if you look, i simply opted for the 1080p
That + each vendor will offer their own selection of displays. -
And now I kinda wish I never sold my 4790K chip.Kaozm likes this. -
ohno, why did you? shouldve sold it to me for half-price
@blacky: 4K display option will be offered for the 15" model, 3K and 2K may potentially be options as well, depending on the shop -
Was gonna do a Z97 build, then scraped that and went for the X79 build in my sig instead. All good though since the chip went to Ethrem and he's making good use of it.
-
at least it stayed in the NBR family
-
-
@Blacky: ah ok then, bummer. the 17" will only have the FHD option afaik -
Guys, so if I want some portability in terms of battery life, would going for a 4790S (65W) make a difference?
-

TDP levels are for load, not idle. So not really on web browsing etc.
flamy likes this. -
im actually happy about the lack of optimus on this machine, this way ill be able to oc the display refresh rate
-
In that case, I would just go with a 4790K.
Edit: Do you mean idle, not load? -
why 40? the specs sheet mentions something around 130 minutes
-
Because, sometimes you have to orchestrate pleasant surprises
No, I must've read 140 minutes wrong or something, somewhere.
Oh, btw, I think it'll be longer than DEC 15th before it comes to Xotic for sure (what Sager having to do their stuff in the middle).
So, hopefully Mythlogic or Eurocom get going and fast. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
TDP levels are (in general, exactly how they are measured is up for debate) the maximum expended energy during load. All CPUs will slow down and reduce their consumption during light load and idle.
My beastie can get 2 hours if treated right so this machine certainly should. -
OK, sorry for being slow here, but in that case 65W should consume less than 88W? What am I missing here? :/
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes at full load it will (it will also run slower so you could just reduce the TDP on the 88W chip for the same impact). You would not be running full load on battery power though.
EDIT: I think it's time for a meaker paint diagram special:
(Note not to scale)
Every individual chip will be different (not just model, one 4930k will be different to another 4930k) and shift the curve differently (and have different gradients) but if you averaged them all it would look like this. -
Thanks, I was thinking about it on the can, and surmised that's what you meant with "light loads"
Only thing I wasn't sure of was that valley between 88W and 66W, but I guess youtubing wouldn't go so far.
Thanks a lot, Meaker! And thanks for the graph
EDIT: ROFL, pun not intended in my first linejaybee83 and alaskajoel like this. -

There's a meaker diagram for that too from way back, this is how it's physically wired:
-
Meaker, I might be reaching dangerously noobish levels here, but how do I reduce the TDP? Is that what undervolting/underclocking is about? Is it as simple as some Windows Power Settings (on battery vs plugged-in clocks?)
-

Assuming you have intel XTU support or an unlocked bios then through there.
