I have a MSI GS60 4K I'm working on a video review and it does look so good. I've found myself taking all my fav pics and putting it on there to see them, the video review is taking much longer now![]()
It is getting some flack for the 48hz refresh rate, but the picture quality is impressive.

The Sharp 4K would be much better, I'm guessing.
Now, can we somehow manage 120Hz also? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It would need to be a TN panel to do that refresh rate properly.
-
For 15" screen 4k is too much. Objects are too small and windows scaling is pretty poor in my view. Anyway yesterday night I brought Samsung U28D590D 4K monitor.
-
However that's just looking @ the desktop, I think my annoyance would be running games in windowed mode, as on the 4k display downscaling the desktop looked really odd, granted DPI/etc was probably turned way up and needed to be adjusted lol.
This is why I think 2880x1620 would be perfect for something like this since 1440p seems to be impossible over 13" However I'm still fine w/ 1080p if I have to get it, its just a quirk we develop after experiencing it I think lol.
However I still agree with you lol -
Before I brought my 4k 28" monitor I went to PC world( something like Fry's) and 4k on 28" inch more like 1080p on 15" inch screen. I didn't notice big difference compared to my Clevo p150 display.
I checked couple of 4k 15" notebooks and have to say image look very sharp, but when you go to native scaling you cannot read the text. Some applications not scaling well after changing setting. -
Sharp 4K screen all the way baby, nothings gonna stop me
-
Notebook check published the English version P35X review and according to them 3k Panasonic panel is better than 4k sharp. They also said Panasonic's upscaling( interpolation) is very good
-
Read again, the only thing they mentioned to be better is the brightness, and that even only slightly, all other parameters totally favor the Sharp display
-
-
@ jaybee. I actually tried to say brightness is better than sharp. Forgot to write that. -
For now I'll probably go w/ the 1080p as long as the 4k/3k variants don't require a diff type of connector, else I"ll be screwed if I wanna swap up. Probably gonna put my order in either end of this week or beginning of next if nothing else pops up.
I'll just do the 850 1tb pro for primary and 1tb HDD for storage for now, 0 ram as I'll buy the GSkill. -
good choices
concerning the screen though, with 4K theres always the option to downscale to 1080p when the situation requires it (e.g. highend gaming on ultra settings), on desktop u can just switch to 4K again. with the 1080p screen u wont have that option and will have to upgrade urself later on... just saying
-
-
id say the interpolation to 1080p would be far better on a 4k screen than with a 2k or 3k screen, since ull have exactly 4 pixels in each interpolated pixel, as opposed to like 3.x or 2.x...
u also mentioned that u didnt adjust the dpi settings in windows. so was the "bad scaling" based on the actual scaling of icons and text or on bad interpolation and thus non-sharp image? -
I just hope there is a 17" version... This would be the perfect laptop for me and hell don't mind wasting my whole 1st salary on this
-
there will definitely be a 17" version, just unknown what the ETA is gonna be.
-
Yeah that's my worry.. I just hope there are no issues with cooling.. if cooling is fine, this will be an epic laptop.. Alienware can go to hell for me if it comes out..
ooh: Updated my signature in anticipation of the 17" model... Now to get the money -
Also additional feedback from BlueMobility

so no need to set dpi / font size every time u wanna game
MySn indeed has premium prices, but theyre also the only vendor that offers 4 full years of full warranty (parts, labour, shipping), thats why ill definitely go with them. doesnt really matter though, since im just gonna order the basic stuff with them and get the rest myself as aftermarket upgrades. just important to me that things like the chassis, the mainboard(!!!!) and the gpu are covered by such a longlasting warranty -
I shot blue back an email seeing as since they didn't have information with screens yet that there was the possibility of others being available as well, and wanted to confirm on that. It's the end of the week here in the US, though I'm aware in some/many countries businesses work 6-7 days a week, so here's to hoping new information this weekend and or Sunday/Monday. I'm ready to pull the trigger anytime now. -
-
yea i know, i was just saying thats the main reason i go with them. plus, their service is very good, as opposed to other cheaper vendors. i mean, of course they have to somehow manage to lower their prices right?
my former rig was from deviltech and their reply time to emails was abysmal at best...

just recently had a traumatic experience with a faulty mobo, broken gpu and crapped out display controller. on top of that, the repair shop i sent my machine to f*cked me over and charged me for fake repairs (before and after identical mobo with same serial number in the machine) this was with a 3.5 yr old rig that was outside of warranty, since i went with the standard 2 years. never again!

Hmm should I go w/ the 850 pro 1tb or would I be fine w/ the 840 for my OS/primary?
Gonna hold off until things get better w/ the current M2's then I'll grab on maybe down the road and reinstall. ( possibly in a years time ) -

Wasn't there an issue with the EVOs wherein the performance degraded on data that wasn't accessed in a while? Was that ever fixed? Also, the EVOs use TLC NAND, whereas the PROs use MLC, which would be more durable.

Edit
Looked up a review, and showing the 850 beating the san disk, only diff is the price which the sandisk is cheaper. I'll look up other reviews as well in case I"m missing something since its an expensive purchase. -
I'm using Sandisk extreme pro since last august and never found any slow down during heavy writing sessions. I'd say go for the cheaper option and use saved money to upgrade notebook later day.flamy likes this. -
I'm also trying to decide with my SSD. I heard about those issues with EVO, so not sure about them still. Sandisk extreme pro, I was holding off because it was 960GB and not 1TB. Wonder why they went that route.

Over provisioning extends drive life and helps performance consistency. For the sake of that more of the nand is made unavailable to the user.

SanDisk has great consistency, but in my own experience Samsung drives tend to be snappier.

Thanks.
Also for the RAM, I'm trying to decide between the CAS11 GSKILL and the CAS9 GSKILL 2133 MHz. I was debating because the CAS9, though faster is 1.65 V and I don't want to overvolt my CPU (I'm going for optimizing my battery life as much as possible with the 4790K beast in there)
Can someone explain this to me, please? -
BTW here's good article about SSD Over provision,

guys, if u only go with what u really SEE or FEEL in everyday life then it doesnt make sense to care at all what kinda ssd ure going for, since subjectively theyre all the same speed. the only thing u WILL notice is going from an hdd to an ssd, thats worlds apart. but look at ssd reviews, 90% of the time the slowest ssd is like 10% away from the fastest ssd and in real life that translates into seconds, if at all!
so, lets agree that this argumentation is superfluous anyways, when were talking ssdsthus, a real argumentative point: 850 pro offers 10 friggin years of warranty. of course ure not gonna keep that drive for so long but u can bet the reselling value is gonna be rock stable due to this warranty. aside from that, its just wonderful to know u have the fastest possible ssd in ur machine
why else are we configuring a ZM with a DESKTOP cpu if were not going for broke in terms of performance, right?
and also, its the largest capacity drive out there, with real, actual, 1024 GB of storage. OP is unecessary, i mean, whos gonna fill up their drive to the absolute brink?! exactly, nobody! so as long as u have enough empty space left on ur drive the controller is gonna use that space anyways, no extra OP necessary

Not sure if this is the correct thread to post this, but I was sure I wanted to order the NP8268-S with and upgrade to the 980M. Now i'm wondering whether I should wait or not for the P751ZM.
I'm not sure what the temps and fan noise are going to be like in the new model, and these matter to me since i'm looking to make an investment for the next 5 year.
any suggestions? -
I'm ordering mine this upcoming week.jaybee83, Kaozm, flamy and 1 other person like this. -
Any information on the new Clevo P7x0ZM?
