After many days of gruelling researches, i've finally found the machine that i wanted: the Eurocom shark 4.
But i have one question: if i choose the SSD alongside with the HDD then where will the OEM Operating System installed? It will be VERY problematic for me if the OS is being installed on the HDD instead of the SDD, since the activation is one time only, and my laptop will be ruin if the OS is being installed on a wrong drive. I'm not living in the US so I can't get the support from EUROCOM easily.
Can anyone help me?

 

Most companies will know to install the OS on the SSD, you can email them directly to find out.

 

I recommend getting 3yr warranty if you are going to spend that much money on a laptop why not have it covered by warranty for 3 years...just my opinion tho

 

I may not be keeping this system for more than a year because of Pascal. It will depend if it supports MXM or not.

I'm planning to buy laptop for college and is looking at the Sager NP8652/ Clevo P650SG for a price of about $1600. I originally planed to buy it on Xotic PC, but in the payment option it states that they only accept credit cards from U.S and Canada banks. Now, I'm an international student and is currently studying high school in the U.S . I do have a U.S bank account, but my parents can not transfer $1600 into it (the U.S Custom only allows international student to received a limit amount of money in their U.S bank account, and we have already reached that limit). So my only option is to buy the laptop using a Visa credit card that is from a non-U.S/Canada bank.

My alternative option is to buy it on Amazon. However, the only reseller that has the Clevo P650SG for about $1600 on Amazon is Prostar. I've saw a lot of controversial things about Prostar. Furthermore, I plan to use this laptop throughout college, so I really want a reseller that is supportive and that I can have easy access to. So my question is, should I buy the Clevo P650SG from Prostar through Amazon? Or should just look at another laptop that I can easily buy? Also, my budget is $1600 max.

TL,DR: buy a $1600 Clevo laptop from a relatively small reseller through Amazon. Or buy a another laptop through a big reseller who accepts non-US/Canada Visa card ?

Hey @Hutsady@XoticPC , I ordered a Sager NP8651-S from XoticPC and asked for a Witcher 3 code. A representative sent me a code, but it said that the code was already used when I put it into Nvidia's site. I emailed the rep and let him know what happened, but do you think I can get another code?

how long would it take for the laptop to arrive with standard shipping from XoticPC? Does it completely depend on whether there are other laptops in queue? Can I have some specific range?

 

Build times can vary depending on the queue. Sager typically quotes 7-12 business days then it will ship out, then of course shipping time on top of that. We can try to accommodate a specific delivery time frame. You can PM me with the dates you have in mind.

Can any of the resellers price-match a replacement notebook battery? Battery model number is: P150HMBAT-8. It's a 14.8v 5200mAh Li-Ion battery for a Clevo P151HM1/Sager NP8130 chassis.

We can try to get one from Sager but they will only sell it if it was originally bought from them or one of their resellers. I would suggest contacting your original reseller to see if they can help out.

 

Can I choose what type of plug do I want, or buy an extra plug for EU-type electrical plugs with any of the resellers in the US?

 

For Sager branded computers they will just include the US style. You would have to get an adapter for EU style plugs.

The W230SS (Sager NP7338) was replaced by the W230SD (NP7339). Sager is currently out of stock on those but do expect more around Aug 10th. However they dont really offer a barebones options. We can remove the RAM and HDD but thats about it.

I have had a look round the bigger companies in the UK which sell laptops based on Clevo chassis and none of them have the W230SS in stock any more. We don't have any new chassis left either, the last were sold a month ago as the W230SS is now end of life and replaced by the W230SD - basically same chassis but with 960M. If you like, I can ask our production facility to see if they have any ex-demo W230SS left in stock - please feel free to email our sales department (I can't link to our website on here but if you put XMG and CO and UK together you'll find us!!!).

I would recommend looking at the A305 (W230SD) however, not because the 960M is massively better performance than the 860M because it isn't, but because it will be hard to find a new SS chassis and the resale value will be lower in the future.

Could anyone answer what is the difference between the Sager NP9773 and the 9773-S?
I was about to order a NP9773 and just realized there is an S version of it, there is no difference between them as far as I could tell?

 

Any of the -S versions are basically the same computer as the non-S model, but they have some commonly picked upgrades added in at a discount rate. If you make the non -S model match the same specs, then it would cost more than the -S does. Kind of a bundle deal I guess.

As for the 9773-S, it has a 250gb m.2 SSD, 16gb of ram (instead of 8gb), IC Diamond thermal compound, 30 day dead pixel guarantee, and the bigfoot wireless card, where the 9773 those would be paid upgrades. The rest of the customization options are going to be the same otherwise.

Will I be able to install Samsung SM951 into a p651se and boot my OS from it if I don't buy the drive with the laptop, since i'm planning to install the drive by myself?

Thank you Hutsady@XoticPC I ordered my laptop two weeks ago. My other question is if I order the GPU overclock, and I upgrade to Windows 10 will I still retain it? Also where do I find the professional monitor calibration profile?

 

You're welcome!
If you do an upgrade to 10 then it should stick. If you do a clean install it won't be there anymore. But there should be a pic on your desktop or my pictures folder which has the overclock settings. You can manually reset to that should you need to.

The calibration .icc file will be in your color profile folder C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color

Drop the ICC file back in to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color.

After that, go to the screen resolution options, then advance settings, then to the color management settings, and it should have the ICC files in there for the different monitor calibrations available. Pick it and set it as the default profile.

 

I've been wondering? How does sager stress test the machine without windows /os installed?

 

With a hard drive with the OS, put it in, test it, and pull it out.

 

As Pat mentioned, and they sometimes will boot from network.

 

I want to ask xoticpc according to sager NP8651. What is the original 8gb of RAM's brand/type installed? It only shows the freq speed which is 1600Mhz. And also what size of the original 1TB HDD installed? Is it 9mm or 7mm?

 

The brand of RAM can vary depending on what is on hand so we are not able to say for sure what will be installed. The HDD will be the standard size of 9.5mm.

 

Would anybody at XoticPC be able to tell when the "Back to school" deals on Sager laptops end? I plan to order one from you, but I may have to wait 1-2 weeks.
Also when selecting m.2 SSDs for the NP8672-S, the option "250GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD" seems to be missing in SLOT 1, is this by accident or is it not available for that slot? Some others are not matched in both slots as well.

 

We don't have a set end date for the back to school specials right now. As long as you can get the order in while they are active then you will qualify for them. But once they are taken down they'll be gone.

I have pointed out to our web team about the missing 250GB Evo m.2 for Slot 1 and they should get it back up there soon, it should be an option.
