Refreshes are usually seen after a new CPU or GPU microarchitecture is released. The P65/67 series has been around for a little over a year and a half.

The cooling system on the current lineup does surprisingly well, considering the small space available for cooling - but I understand you had a bad experience with yours. Chances are we won't see a refresh until the end of 2017 or early 2018, when Cannonlake is released.

@Tanner@XoticPC Your site has the NP7850 labeled as a P650HP3.

May wanna change that to N850HP6.

    Questions for @XMG Mysn/Shenker.

I hope to buy the XMG P707 with the 1060 around Sept/October and just have a few questions about the config. I will be getting an M.2 SSD for the the boot drive and wondered if it is worth getting the more expensive 512gb 960 pro pcie over the 500gb M.2 850 evo SATA as I will be using it mainly for gaming and web design but also Microsoft Office and in the future maybe Adobe Photoshop. I would also like to purchase it without the logo on the bezel but still on the lcd cover if that is at all possible? I see on the config that there is no cpu/gpu thermal paste option. Can this be requested?

I also read that the XMG P707 has resolved a previous issue with frequent noisy fans on the Clevo P67xxx series with an updated bios and ec. Would this be the same for other resellers or just mysn?

    Thanks for your time.

@Geforce2go Its really up to you regarding the M.2 option. The 960 will get you around 3x the sequential read and write speed but this will be more noticeable on larger file transfers. Their advantage over the 850 isn't as noticeable on an OS drive with lots of smaller read and write actions, but still quicker.

Fan profiles - the ones we create are only available in our EC versions, they are therefore different to the ECs that Clevo make available to all other companies. In the P707 it will help with idle and medium load fan ramping you may have read about.

We offer different paste options on our larger chassis via the configuration pages, on the XMG P series we use our own paste but you can ask our sales team if they can get production to use Grizzly for you as well.

We almost always have branded and non-branded chassis in stock but you need to ask sales to confirm this if it's possible when you order. You can put a request in the comments section at checkout or contact info @ mysn.de before ordering and they'll be able to advise you on stock of non-branded. Unfortunately it's not possible to have a part XMG branded chassis because the logos are added before the chassis get to our production facility. But this might be different in a few months when you're ready to order. The logo on the screen surround isn't intrusive in the flesh!

I beg to differ, the 4K on a OS drive thats an M.2 is still faster. an SM961 series can still be giving you 50-60Mbs (or like 70Mbs when not your boot disk) whereas the 850 lineup could give you half that. or like 35-40Mbs as a boot drive at best.

So while yes sequential is like 5-6-7 times faster for larger file transfers, even boot is still almost double the speed.

We have a discord server with a channel where we post speeds for drives and memory all day long, I was just recently in there discussing this very topic, and thought to share it with you.

    @Geforce2go hope my info helps.

I did want to stress that NVMe M.2 drives are still faster then Sata M.2's or 2.5" Sata 3 6G SSD's are. The SM961 is the OEM version (kinda) of the 960. The SM961 series doesn't have the high sequential but has faster 4K for boots, and has an evenly distributed speed for read and write, whereas the consumer drives are all Read speed and less write speed. Kind of like a throttle in one direction more than another, something we didn't see as profoundly in older/earlier drives such as 850 Sata.

Thank you for the prompt reply. That is really helpful! I'll definitely be getting the XMG P707 now. I may go with a branded chassis as well as I quite like the look of it on the lid and if it's not too intrusive on the bezel that's fine. I'm really looking forward to it, it's a great looking machine and a major upgrade from my previous Clevo which died about 2 years ago now (in sig). I bought it in 2008 so it lasted a good while. Hopefully the new machine will give me the same usage. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info, that helps in making an informed decision. I think I'll go with the 960 pro, if anything it will be a little more future proof considering my future usage. I don't think the SM961 is an option on the XMG config page unfortunately.

Great, happy to help. If you need any more advice just ask or send me a pm closer to the time you're ready to order. There could well be different options to choose from then anyway ;-)

It's at the bottom of the configuration list, the 128GB and 1TB 961 Pro, the others are in short supply from the source at the moment hence their abscence.

    Thanks for your input, however:

1/ I did say that the read was significantly faster, also that the smaller file size speeds were still faster than the 850 but not as noticably faster than the sequential read/write speeds when compare to the 850 ( GeForce2go was asking for a comparison between the M.2 850 EVO and M.2 NVMe 960 Pro, not the standard SATA 850 EVO ;-) )

If you compare benchmarks (which wasn't what I was doing, I was just saying that the random performance advantage was "less noticable" than the sequential (perhaps I could have clarified that better) then you'll see that the 960 Pro has around 30% performance advantage over the 850 EVO in random 4K read and write speeds (MB/s) and IOPS are around the same difference. Yes the 960 Pro is faster in random (as I said), but the difference is "not as noticable" compared to the sequantial. For what you're using the drive for, there will be a difference but not a huge difference so it depends if you want to spend the extra $100 or so - either drive will burn through what you want to use your laptop for ;-)

Comparing the SM961 to the 960 Pro, you would see

    - 960 Pro 10% faster sequenaitl read and write
    - SM961 10% faster random write @ 4k
    - SM961 same or slightly faster random read 4k

P.S. @woodzstack resellers are allowed a maximum signature image size of 25k and 500 pixels wide, might be an idea to adjust yours before the mods decend!!!

Long time lurker of notebookcheck, first time poster. I've been looking at various 15.6" configurations from a few of the European resellers. I was wondering if @XMG , @clevo-extreme , and @John@OBSIDIAN-PC could give some information on the standard FullHD screens they use in the N850HK1 (1050ti) and P650HP6 (1060) models? Also, for ceg, what about in the P650KK1

I'm mostly wanting to compare response rate (B-W or G-G), sRGB, and brightness.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. Other EU resellers who offer shipping to Germany, and the option of a US/International keyboard are also welcome to reply

*EDIT* Fixed typo - meant response rate, not refresh rate

Theres 1080P and 120hz and 4K options. all with G-Sync and there is a 4K option with an IPS panel, no g-sync as of yet but the image quality is amazing.

welcome to the forums BTW @OtterNZ

    Hi and welcome!

Actually we list the panels that we use in all our product pages ont he website:

N850 is the XMG A507, panel is G LP156WF6-SPB1 (it's in the Specification part of the product pagem under "DISPLAY")

P650HP6 is the XMG P507 (2017 Kaby Lake version) AUO B156HTN05.2 is the 120Hz TN panel, unfortunately I don't have access to the IPS model number at the moment.

P650KK1 doesn't exist at the moment, do you mean a slightly different model number?

I can get you all the colour gamut and brightness data from our own testing on Monday when I have access to the server-of-knowledge! But the main difference between the response times is that the 120Hz TN panels are rated at 5ms whereas the IPS panels are around 25ms.

I will update this on Monday for you with more information!

Thank you both - very useful.

XMG - If you could get the model number for the IPS on the P507 during the week, then that would be great.

Clevo-extreme - Since I can't see the N850 on your website at the moment, which screen from that list do you sell with it by default? For the P650 I assume the LG LP156WF6-SPB1 is the default FullHD IPS panel shown on the website, since I an see the 120Hz TN panel is an upgrade option, and I think the Samsung is a 4K panel?

*EDIT* Added a model number for my P650 question and adjusted wording to make the question easier to understand

P507 IPS is this model LG LP156WF6-SPB1 - busy day, sorry for the delay!

The 4K panel is the Sharp model (Samsung is RGBW or Pentile) SHARP LQ156D1JW04 which is a proper RGB model. Just check the specifications on each of our configuration pages and you should find what you need - we can always give more detailed information by email if you need it :)

Btw Clevo only supply chassis with specific panels, so if you order directly from Clevo or if a company purchases barebones through a direct Clevo customer like us, we all have access to the same panels.

Some companies mix and match panels, but in general every P65* IPS is that LG model (which you also mentioned in your email). Sometimes Clevo change the panels that they ship from pre-production samples to mass production samlpes which are sold to the public (not in a nasty way, just sometimes there are panel changes from early samples before launch). Also occasionally there is a panel model change after launch, so you could see the first available chassis ship with one panel and then at some point in the future it could change. This can lead to situations where some companies have the older panel and some companies have the newer panel, but it's not very often.

Ah thanks for the info, I thought that it was common for resellers to buy without a panel and to install one of their choosing. Makes my original question seem a bit silly now!

Is there any heatsink lapping or thermal paste upgrade done with XMG notebooks? Asking because I can't see them as options on the customise order page.

We used to offer this last year, but due to several reasons (one being that it was expensive to offer finance in the first place and the acceptance rate for customers who applied was actually pretty low) we don't offer this any more. Now that the UK site is running on the main mysn.de website for the time being, we do offer monthly payment options in Germany - but due to EU data protection regulations it's not possible for finance companies to offer credit to customers in other countries!

It's something that comes up quite a lot, because of the different panels that some people quote in their systems. As mentioned, several reasons for this but every Clevo chassis comes with a panel, no way round that!!!

Every laptop we sell is thoroughly tested and we inspect the heatsink and cooling performance. We also offer thermal paste upgrades on the configuration page to Grizzly, we offer delidded CPUs and also have our own fan profiles on many models. As a result of all the above, we don't offer lapping in addition as it's not in our opinion a cost effective or necessary option for our customers.

Good to hear, thanks. In terms of 15.6" laptops I can only see the thermal paste upgrade option on the U507 series, would you perform a repaste on the A507 or P507 by request?

We can do it for the A and P series on request, could you send me a pm so that I can get you in touch with one of our sales team and they can then confirm and make sure it's added to an order if you decide to go ahead?

As it's not a configuration option on the A and P series it doesn't automatically get sent down to production with the build schedule and component list, so we need to add a manual request to make sure it's all sorted out correctly :)

@Leon321 I was asked the same question in another thread so have linked to this so there's not lots of duplication of info:

The mysn.de site let you order exactly the same products (and lots more) than the UK site did, if you have any issues with the .de site or questions then please send me a pm so I can help you out.

P.S. if you're browsing through a proxy, the geolocation language selection won't work automatically - so just click on the EU flag for English at the top right of every page :)

It seems Virtium has 32GB DDR4 SODIMM modules. Any idea if they can be used in Clevo notebooks? With those you can have 128GB in a 4-slot or 64GB in a 2-slot notebook.

@grunnsat Virtium don't have datasheets for 32GB SODIMM DDR4 modules, could you pm me a link please? I can confirm that if they do exist then they have not been validated by Clevo.

I have no datasheets either, I just googled for 32GB DDR4 SODIMM module, and a press release of Virtium popped up. I'm sure they haven't been certified by Clevo, but it seems Virtium is a solid company producing products for the industry. Should by OK in that respect. Perhaps you can call their sales department for datasheets or even a couple of modules for evaluation.

I once bought a high-end Fujitsu notebook, it had 2 x 1GB, and according to the specs that was the maximum (2 DDR2 slots). So I immediately put 2 x 2GB in the slots. At the time it had 32 bit Vista. Eventually I was able to put 2 x 4 GB in the slots and run 64 bit Windows 7.

I would not be surprised if these 32GB modules can be used with almost any notebook..

It would be hit and miss at best. There were many systems where if you did that it would be unstable.

Indeed, if these modules do exist I think it's very unlikely that they will work in any system that they aren't validated in. Even the memory options that most Clevo system integrators use are chosen because of compatability. Just as one example, we used Samsung 8GB SODIMMs in one system (a few years ago) because Corsair and Hyper-X modules didn't run in a 4x 8GB config though they were fine in 2x 8GB config. I won't turn this into a technical discussion and explain exactly why, but in laptops memory - especially larger SODIMM modules, faster speeds and different SODIM slot populations - isn't always plug and play.

Unfortunately, compatibility issues are not limited to SODIMM, normal DIMMs can give you an headache as well.

It seems the (very) theoretical maximum capacity of a SODIMM module is 256GB.

You are resellers gentlemen, why don't you ask Virtium for four modules for evaluation, and see what happens.

By the way, a MAC with DDR2 can use one 4GB module, giving a total of 6GB. 8GB doesn't work.

Question regarding XMG U717 - how easy is it to get access to the 4 memory slot, the two M.2 and the two SSD slot?

    Thanks

While I'm not a reseller I thought I'd respond since I've done some research about this not too long ago myself when I was shopping for a new laptop. Check out @XMG 's official U717 component change videos, they will illustrate how to access and swap out the things you asked for nicely. :)

If you want a textual description, the components of the U717 appear to be pretty easy to access. Two memory slots are simply accessible via the bottom cover, for two more (which @XMG populates by default if you choose two memory modules so you can add two more a bit more easily) you have to unscrew a screw and pop off the keyboard (not particularly hard to do either). The M.2 slots for SSDs and SATA ports are all accessible via the bottom cover while the WLAN card is located on top underneath the keyboard.

Yes. Here is a link to a post where @XMG answered some of my questions I had before my purchase regarding the U717 and U727, perhaps that'll help you as well.

Hey guys! Besides eurocom, is there any other reseller which provides discount for students? So far I've only found eurocom's offer ( http://www.eurocom-europe.com/eurocom-students/). I was planning to buy laptop closer to the Fall.
Oh and I'm living in Germany, so I would prefer shipment within Europe.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks @Glzmo :) @Leon321 if you need any more inforamtion just ask, it'll be a race between @Glzmo and me to reply first ;-)

If you're in Germany then perhaps you could check our website out. I did a quick comparison and even with a 10% student discount they are around 5% more expensive than our identical spec systems with CPU/GPU only configuration (no HDDs, no RAM upgrade etc). If you can get a 10% student discount then it would still make us more competative. PLUS if you're looking to purchase September/October we always have back to school/student sales at that time :)

Have a general question about Sagers vs the other brands. Sagers seem to be about $200-300 less expensive than MSI and ASUS equivalents, even if you factor in having to pay for the OS separately. And Sagers often have more 2.5" or M.2 slots than other brands, and the chassis are known to be pretty solid.

Is there something that I'm missing, that makes other brands more competitive, even though Sagers have better specs on paper?

    Thanks!

International warrant support. I think MSI & ASUS offers 1 years global warranty.

Warranty differs depending on the country you purchase from and also from which reseller you purchase from. International warranty is generally understood to mean that the shipping costs are all included for free in the warranty - some Clevo resellers offer this as an option for an additional price, but MIS nor ASUS offer this as standard.

Note, international doesn't necessarily mean in every single country. They have to have an authorized repair center or contractor in-country, and no trade protection tomfoolery from the country's government. Example, with MSI, check their global service location page for the country and even if it's listed make sure it doesn't say something like "This region is not covered under MSI authorized Global Travel Performance Assurance.".

Hello, I'm pretty new right here i'm a student from Spain. I plan to buy a clevo laptop in the very next month (maybe weeks) and i got many questions for retailers (please only retailers that ships to Spain - EU):
1.- What's the difference between Clevo P751DM2-G and P750DM2-G i can see no difference and some retailers sell one or another.
2.- I wish to buy a laptop in order to last years so i want to get the best non upgradeable hardware I can afford right now like ports or screen. This is the reason why i want it with thunderbolt port, is there any other 15" (or less) Clevo laptop with Thunderbolt 3 (other than P751DM2-G and P750DM2-G i mean)?
3.- How long should i expect battery last for those models (P751DM2-G and P750DM2-G)?
4.- I have seen some of you (i mean retailers) offer the 4G card option, for those who doesn't offer it, can i add it later without voiding my warranty? it's easy to do? does it use a m2 hdd place or one specific one?
5.- I have seen some retailers like EUROCOM offer 4K screen option for those models (i'm sorry for you EUROCOM but i have read very bad reviews about light bleed and poor response to solve it) but others like PCSPECIALIST show the possibility at description but there is no way to select it at configuration. This question is for those who doesn't advertise this screen: It's possible to order the laptop with this 4K screen? (I would accept any suggestions)
6.- Many of you offer extended warranty plans but does it include pick and return shipping? this is pretty important because if i buy a laptop at Canada (EUROCOM for example), UK, Germany... and i may pay to send it to RMA this will me get broke.
7.- Is there any possibility to get any new models with Thunderbolt in the next few months? I have read Clevo was going to show a models at Computex but i can't show any information about them. Should i wait a bit?

Thanks in advance, those answers would help me to select a dealer for my new laptop.

Hello we ship to Spain, with 2 year warranty and full free pick up and return.
1- Not sure but probably chassis finish
2-Thunderbolt 3 is available only on the P751DM2-G / P775DM3-G / P870KM1 and in some N130BU (13" small laptop not what you are looking for)
3-Depends a LOT on usage, CPU model and GPU model, usually on light usage i can get around 1:30h, might be able to push it to 2h.
4-Yeap you can on most re-seller, at least we allow you too.
5-Well depends on re-sellers, we have no intention to offer that one, all 4K screens we tested were a bit disappointing.
6-Already answer that, full pick and return, 2 years warranty, next day shipping for Spain
7-Nothing new coming out, not in that model range
