    Hi Everyone,
First time Sager buyer here, well a soon-to-be Sager buyer. I'm currently in the process of pulling everything together and purchasing a Sager, but I've hit a bit of a snag.

I have a friend who highly suggested I check out Malibal and we've been chatting back and forth about the P150EM SE. (He has an older model with Sandy Bridge) He noted that around Labor day of last year Malibal (and other retailers) did a huge sale where you could save upwards of $400 on a build. (Depending on the loadout) I personally am in need of a new computer and I'd like to be able to have everything up and running before late August when I start my Fall College semester. So waiting until Labor day isn't exactly an ideal situation.

Now, a lot of retail stores will pay you back or credit you the difference if the price of a product changes within the stores specified return window. So I went online to ask Malibal if their 100% low price guarantee and 30-Day Money Back Guarantee also included price matching during their refund period after the initial purchase of their product. The first thing I tried to do is to send them an email, which I couldn't find listed on their website, anywhere. No email contact information what so ever. Next, I went to go file a ticket, but in order to file a ticket you must provide a serial number for your product, which as a future customer, I don't have one. Next was the Malibal forums, which I noticed also offers a $50 off your purchase if you register for the forums and make 5 posts. I followed the link and tried to register, but their registration page is broken. I turned off all my script/pop up blockers and used multiple browsers, didn't work.

So finally I decided to try a live chat, out of Billing, Sales and Support, only the Sales chat had a representative. So I went to Sales chat and had a conversation with an Agent. I asked about the Low Price Guarantee and was told that they no longer offer it... Even though it's still offered on their websites main page.

    So what's going on here?

I also noticed the contact phone number at the bottom of the chat Window, so that's my next step, which is to call them and ask why it's still on the front page. But other than that, which retailers do offer a low price guarantee, I know most say they do, but which actually do.

And if they do, will any of them price match a month after sale? <- most important.

I'm going to call Malibal tomorrow in hopes of sorting out this "100% low price guarantee" deal. I'm hoping it's just a CSR mix up. But again, will any Retailer offer me a price match after the original sale of the notebook? (And I don't mean deducting it from the original sale, but receiving credit back to my account)

I cant speak for others but our price match policy is up to the day your computer ships out. Prices fluctuate often in the computer industry its hard to offer price matching after the computer has shipped out. If you're not in a hurry for the computer and can wait til around Labor day it wont hurt to do so.

    Hi ALL,

I just received an Alienware m17x r4 680m video card (See sig). I was so excited after waiting 3 weeks to finally receive the notebook yesterday. When I plugged it in I was "MORTIFIED" by how reflective the screen was, along with other issues. I have been lucky that dell is taking the computer back for a full refund.

    Now the hunt begins.. again.

    #1 Screen
The problem is that I have is that currently I own a XPS 15 (L501X) with the "15.6FHD TLF B+RGLED LCD" which has an AWESOME anti-glare, the BEST screen i've ever seen on a notebook. This screen is awesome, dell doesn't even offer it anymore for the XPS line or the alienware. I don't think I'll be pleased with anything less.

Question : Is it possible to get B+RGLED with any new machine in your offerings?

    #2 Sound
After being disappointed with the screen, I moved on to the sound to hear how "awesome" it was going to be. I placed my XPS 15 (with JBL + sub) and Alienware next to each other, played the same songs back and forth. AGAIN!! My almost 2 year old XPS kicked the Alienware's in the sound department. The base and depth of my XPS 15 was far superior to the Alienware.

So, again if I am to purchase a "better" computer, I would need at least comparable sound. How is the base on the Sagar or Asus? Does anyone know how it compares to the XPS 15?

    #3 Keyboard
This is not Alienwares fault, however the keyboard goes up to the left edge of the notebook. Therefore when I am typing my left palm is resting on the edge of the laptop. Again on my XPS 15, there is no 10 key so I have about 1 1/2 inch on the left side for resting my palm comfortably. I tried the ASUS G75VW-RS72 today and what ever the distance that has is good.

That was the 3rd and final strike for the Alienware. I don't know how they can get away with that Screen.. So annoying.

OKAY all that said. Can you guys make a suggestion. I know that some of you can mod other Standard makes such as the ASUS, MSI so can you consider that in your response as well.

BTW, I decided that I don't want need the 680m video card, but the 675 or comparable would be good, I just want to play BF3 @ full res and high settings @ 30fps or higher. I would like to keep the build around the $1,500 mark.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Ok I´ve decided. But xotic can´t make guarantee to deliver before August 9 that I´m going back to Argentina (I´m in Oakland now on vacation)

So, any other resellers can make this in time matching this price (plus the $50 off $1500, cash/NBR/student discounts and free or not expensive expedite shipping to Oakland, CA)

thanks and let me know if I can call you before noon PST as I have to leave after that and would like to have this ordered today

Generally, bulk discounts include a purchase a little greater then two laptops - so you might want to clarify for these guys competing for your business. From your sentence it sounds like your looking for two, while your bulk request indicates your looking for many of them.

Yeah Its two.. a 9170 and 9150.. I am worried about the 7970 and have been looking into all the issues with that card especially with the Clevo/Sagers. Started to look at Alienware and other options but probably would have to do a 680 in the 9170 and 675 in the 9150.

    Hey, everyone.

I'm going to be ordering a new gaming laptop in about two weeks. Naturally, I'm considering notebooks based on the Clevo P170EM.

Since I have a spare Windows Vista license and the Windows 8 digital upgrade will only cost $39.99, my cheapest option would be to buy my notebook without an operating system and slog through with Vista until Windows 8 goes gold. However, I'm concerned that a laptop ordered without an OS won't receive the proper testing prior to being shipped to me.

Can any resellers - or their customers - comment on testing practices in these situations? Do you apply a drive image and then wipe it prior to shipping? Is it tested by the manufacturer and not be the reseller? Do they simply offer an awesome return policy if something goes wrong?

    Thanks.

Most of the resellers here should be able to install the OS and test the system then wipe the system before it is shipped out to you. Most of us will be using Windows 7, some might install a Linux OS for testing if it is requested.

As far as testing, a lot of us have our own software for stress testing and benchmarking a system as well.

Also, as far as waiting until Windows 8 goes Gold, well I think your wait is over Windows 8 goes gold, will hit MSDN and TechNet on August 15 - TechSpot News

Purchasing Windows 7 now is actually a good idea since Microsoft is offering the upgrade program to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99. If you wait until Windows 8 is released, it will cost you much more to just get Pro.

If you do decide to order it without Windows it will still be fully tested with Windows before its sent out. If you order from a Sager reseller Sager does the install and testing.

So Slightly related to the bulk order question. I am not looking for myself (patiently awaiting my Mythlogic Pollux). A friend of mine is an organizer of a security conference as well as a competition that travels to other conferences involving a TF2 tournament. Currently he uses Desktops and as one would imagine, shipping them all over is a pain in the butt and wallet. I believe the setup is 20 systems. I suggested the thought of upgrading to laptops to make the whole process much easier but he was unaware of sufficient hardware until I educated about the clevo based gear. So here is the thought. Is anyone interested in a bulk purchase, with the thought of getting your logo in front of a large number of gamers enough to give a very good price for the order? His conference is 1200 people. This year his competition was at defcon which had roughly 13000 people at it. It travels to other conferences as well. I just view it as a fantastic advertising opportunity to get a system that the mainstream arent aware exists infront of some hardcore folks with some spending money. PM me if anyone is interested in discussion and I can get you in touch with him if it makes sense to do so. Hes a busy fella so I figured I would start the movement for him. Think of it as a sponsorship more so than a discount.

Obviously this is more appealing to those who brand their systems, though I Would think any of you would be able to throw your logos on a sager.

Thats a bummer, getting a 120hz panel was only thing holding me back. Is there a publicly available roadmap? Sli would be great as well if they can keep the same great chassis. Is sli 680 possible size wise? Possibly relatedly, any high end 18 inch display books on the map?

I am interested in the Sager NP9130.

However, I am also considering the Lenovo Y580 found here ( IdeaPad Y580 15.6" Laptop | Shop | Lenovo | (US)).
The Lenovo is currently priced at $999 and I was hoping that I could get the Sager NP9130 at a competitive price.

Do any of the resellers have the ability to be competitive with Lenovo's current pricing? Currently I'm matching the specs and finding the Sager to be approximately $200 more.

I should also mention that I'm a student. While I'm not looking for a direct price match, I would like to get the best price possible for the Sager NP6130.

Feel free to contact me via PM.

    Thank you.

    Question:

Since there will be no 3D version of the P170EM. Is it still possible to use a 120Hz LCD in this laptop ? I am not interested in the 3D gimmick, just in having 120 Hz on my LCD screen. Thank you!

We keep working on it, but due to how things are designed its not quite easy. The biggest difference between the 3 and the not 3 model of things is there is basically a switch (and by switch I mean a small surface mounted component) that makes the motherboard output into the eDP port, and without that little surface mount strap its not that easy, but we are working on it. Don't know if we'll have success or not =)

    That's great news Mythlogic.

Not sure how long I can hold my buy. I was pretty much set on buying a new laptop this month.
Will it be possible to upgrade later? I reckon it will require a new motherboard and screen right ? That kinda makes the upgrade impossible.

It won't require a new board if its going to work at all, the connector is there. 120Hz screen + Cable? Yes it will require a new one of those, but besides that no. Its all the same motherboard this time. As optimus + 120hz works fine, its the 3D part that doesn't.

I was wondering if any of the resellers knew if a P151em could run a 3920xm in it and what you'd have to do to make it run. Also assuming it does work could a p151em use a P150hm 180W ac adapter or atleast something that'd give it more headroom for overclocking.

    Hello Resellers,

I was hoping one of you guys could help me in my situation as it has been very difficult to figure out what to do. I recently purchased a clevo p170em from computerupgradeking and it came with the amd radeon hd 7970m. I dislike the enduro/firmware issues and because this will be a long term desktop replacement investment (3-5 years), id rather make the upgrade to 680m and have less problems in the future. My issue is that computerupgradeking is being hard to deal with and they say they dont offer swapping of gpus. I was wondering if any of you resellers would be willing to swap out my gpu for a gtx 680m and i would pay the shipping and upgrade costs obviously. I obviously chose the wrong reseller to purchase my laptop from but I just hope to be able to have a reliable system for years to come and I dont feel that I do right now. I already tried contacting sager but apparently my system is a clevo (even tho it is listed as a sager on computerupgradeking when i purchased it there). If anyone can help me in my situation that would be great, thank you guys.

Is asking about lead time on specific upgrades out of the scope of this thread? I'm just trying to get an idea of how long it might take to get a laptop if I order it today. If this is out of scope, I can PM.. just let me know.

    Here are the upgrades:

    Matte Color Gamut screen
    i7-3820QM
    IC Diamond thermal paste
    16GB mem
    Crucial M4 512gb SSD
    6x Blu-Ray Burner/Reader / 8X DVDRW

    Thanks!

Build times for Sager has been around 6-10 business days. I dont see any of those parts causing a delay past that.

I have a question to resellers, according to the technical manual of the NP9170, there is a eDP port directly through de MXM slot, I have a HD7970m.
If a connect a better display on this eDP port, will it works? because i think it will boot only on the iGPU.
If its true, maybe that will be usefull to try this.

Would any reseller be able to help someone in my situation out. The reseller I purchased from doesn't buy individual parts they said they buy their laptops as the customer specified from someone (don't know who) then send them to customer. So I can't buy an individual gtx680m from them i'd have to return laptop and buy a new one with it which is to much of a pain since I have purchased some oem software for this laptop already, plus I can't see a reason to since although enduro issues are annoying, this laptop is in perfect condition and the 7970m still works extremely well. I was wondering if any of you guys would be willing to sell me a gtx680m sepeerately, but credit me the difference when i send in my 7970m (which is 100% functioning and only been in use for a week in my laptop). Would appreciate a response, thanks.

Email or call Malibal or Mythlogic. I bought a 680m direct from mythlogic without any major headache. They may be able to offer you compensation for the 7970.

Yeah that would be great if I could get the compensation. I can't really afford to dish out $800 straight up without compensation for the 7970m. In that case I would just deal with the headache of returning my current laptop to my reseller and buying a new one albeit taking a loss of $200 in oem software and a week without a laptop.
