Hi, this might be the right place to ask since has resellers chances are you had to take apart and fix these notebooks.

Does anyone of you know the model number of the ips screen on the Clevo w550EU? apparently the 15.6" FHD 1920x1080 matte is IPS but there are no info (that I could find) of which panel actually is.

I tried through pcspecialist live assistance and they could only say it may be either an LG or an AUO.

Do you know the part number, real model name?
I ask because there are no reviews on the Clevo W550EU at the moment and the display is what I really care about.

Hi, I was thinking about purchasing a Sager 9370 or Clevo equivalent and I wanted to know if the following parts would work in the laptop:

    1. Mushkin MKNSSDAT480GB mSata SATA III - configured as the primary or C: drive?
    2. Western Digital WD20NPVT 2TB HDD or is the height to thick?
    3. 32 GB (4 x 8GB) of Kingston HyperX Memory KHX16S9P1K2/16 204-pin, DDR3 1600?

What kind of hardware is normally used in regard to the Memory and HDD's?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

You shouldn't have any problem with those parts except for that 2tb HDD. It is too thick. I've heard of someone finding a 1tb 7200rpm drive to fit but it was a very obscure name that I cannot remember at all.

FWIW, one of the customer reviews on Newegg for Western Digital's WD20NPVT (2TB HDD, 2.5" x 15mm high) states the following:

"In case you all are wondering, i know i was, this drive fits inside a Clevo P370em in the ODD Bay using a HDD Caddy, barely fits but it goes in."

Interesting, hadn't heard of anybody on here trying that out. I'd be skeptical but if it works that's awesome.

It should work fine in the 12.7mm HDD caddy for the ODD Bay.

Thanks everyone for their feedback. The WD 2TB HDD is 15mm height and the optical bay in the 9370 specifics says it is only 12.7mm height.

Now the only thing holding me up from buying a 9370 are the new models that are coming out soon!

There are no exact dates at this time. Sager does refresh their models as Intel comes out with new CPU's which as this time are rumored for June/July.

    Hello...

I´m from Brazil and I´m going to US in next month... I´d like to know what clevo/sager resellers fulfill that sell requirements:

    - Accept International Credit Card
    OR
    - Accept Brazilian Paypal Verified Account

    AND

    - Deliver to a hotel

    Thanks!

For International transactions we have found Bank Wire Transfer (T.T.) or Western Union Funds Transfer to be the only acceptable forms of payment. There is a $25 charge for the incoming Bank Wire Transfer (T.T.) or Western Union Money Transfer but this will earn you the 3% cash discount and we can then ship to your US address via Ground for free.

Once you submit your specifications through our website we will email your Specifications Confirmation along with Bank Wire Transfer (T.T.) and Western Union Money Transfer instructions.

Exactly the same as Paladin said as it goes for us too. There is just too many legality and policies to deal with on international Credit Card and PayPal payments, Bank wire transfer is by far the least hassle and headache and what we recommend.

    No problem at all!
I dont know what would cause the sound to change when you turn on SLI, thats a new issue I havent heard before. It could need need drivers installed or a BIOS update.

There is no date on when the new models will be available. They will most likely come out when the new CPU's do which are rumored for June/July. We wont know for sure until they are pretty much available.

Derek, and the other resellers, will you be offering Windows 7 as an OS for the next gen models? I noticed the manual exclusively mentions/uses Windows 8 for illustration purposes and it is the only OS listed in the specs. I know (until now) we have always had the option to buy it without an OS, and install whatever we chose. I am definitely buying the W230ST when it is released and I would prefer to not have to buy and install Windows 7 myself. I was just curious which resellers will be offering Windows 7, and which won't.

Mythologic already confirmed that they will be offering it in another thread.

As long as Win 7 is available to us and Sager it's very likely it'll still be offered. I know we plan on carrying it in house as long as we are able to do so, so there will always be that option available if it's absolutely needed and Sager ends up not offering it, but we've confirmed with them in the past they also have the intention of carrying it as long as Microsoft is offering it.

We have a new model slated for availability very soon, but it's not a Haswell unit. Those - as Hutsady mentioned - aren't official just yet. :)

You're fine! Your problem sounds software related - possibly a driver conflict. I'm not sure what you mean by "disturbed", but you may be able to resolve it by reloading your video and audio drivers. Hutsady also alluded to needing a BIOS update; I would try that as a secondary solution.

I was not able to get confirmation, but I imagine it's very likely. If I find out before the new units arrive, I'll update. :)

    Hi Funkybuddha9,
For the stress testing we'll run a few programs. 3D mark to check that the scores are where they should be, Furmark and Prime95 to stress the GPU/CPU for stability and temps. If you dont get an OS we will still boot from network so we can test those on your computer.

For info on the discounts we're not allowed to post that but you can PM me or email me directly by clicking on my name in my signature and i'll be happy to let you know what you're eligible for.

Bought a Clevo 150HM with nVidia 580M almost a couple of years ago, everything works fantastic but I'm starting to feel the need to upgrade my GPU, what are my options?
    Can I upgrade to a 680M?

The AMD 7970M is going to get you the best bang for your buck. If I remember right any Nvidia 6XXMX and the 680M dont work. The Nvidia 6XXM do.

So I recently discovered an issue with the system restore utility on my Windows 7 64 bit OS that came installed on my NP6350. So, although I don't need system restore at the moment I am a bit uneasy knowing that it doesn't work. I have needed it in the past to resolve issues, and would prefer to have the option in the future. Whenever I try to do a restore it says it wasn't completed and ""System restore failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore". Researching the issue in Microsoft forums I found an individual that solved it by paying Microsoft Support to fix what he called "a minor glitch" by remote access.

So is this type of issue something that I should contact Sager directly with? Or will I have to pay Microsoft to resolve it remotely? I haven't contacted my reseller yet because it isn't a pressing issue, and my computer runs great. It is something that I would like to resolve in the near future, I am just not sure who to contact and whether it is covered by any warranty. In the mean time I have backed up all my User files and have created a system image of both my HDs. What do you guys think, how should I proceed?

An issue like this is typically covered by your reseller. Since the version of Windows is either an OEM or Reseller license Microsoft will not cover it free, they only cover "Retail" versions which typically cost over twice as much. A part of that cost is for this type of tech support.

When you say "do" a restore, do you mean you tried to create one? Or you tried falling back on one already created?

A few weeks ago I noticed some issues appear in the error log in the event viewer. I had one recurring error with Windows Search and another that involved VSS (Volume Shadow Service) that were concerning. In searching for the solutions someone suggested I run SFC scan utility. Well it would only get to 16% and it would rail saying that "windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation". I then tried to do a system restore to see if it was a recent change in the system. Well it failed and I got that message that it was unable to rebuild the registry etc. I managed to trace some of the errors back to a failed Windows Update for Microsoft Visual C++ service pack and reinstalled it successfully. That solved the issues with Windows Search and I also managed to fix the VSS errors, but system restore still doesn't work. All of my original restore points were deleted while trying to solve the problem, and the new restore points that I have created since then don't seem to work either.

Hmm, well there are utilities out there for repairing/rebuilding specific functionality (VSS, for example). Have you tried running system restore in Safe Mode or in a clean boot? Sometimes that works - especially if malware is the culprit (by the way, do you have any malware? ;) ).

Prostar, II have the full version of Malwarebytes installed and protecting the system. I ran a "full scan" a few days ago with it and Microsoft Security Essentials and it came back clean. BTW after installing the failed update SFC scan now completes and says there are no integrity violations and nothing to repair. It really is a shame that the user who solved this issue on the Microsoft forum wasn't able to explain the fix, but that is a common occurrence.

I have tried to run system restore in safe mode and the same thing happens when it restarts. I still haven't contacted my reseller, and I am hoping that this can be resolved remotely.

Ah, well best of luck to you with it! It sounds like something - perhaps the registry - is still damaged. Not sure how you ran your AV software, but if you didn't run full scans in Safe Mode with all non-microsoft services disabled and all start up items disabled, you may want to consider trying that; it's more effective (and runs the scan quicker most of the time). I also like to use a malware process killer known as RKill right before I begin the scans. You may consider giving that a shot if you attempt another scan. :)

    Again, good luck!

I'm looking to make a warranty claim with PWNPC's as I believe one of my CPU heat sinks is broken and my CPU is overclocked but I've had overclocked for a while now and had no problems, should I take my CPU back down to standard clocks before sending the machine back or do PWNPC's allow the CPU to overclocked? like I said I overclocked the CPU nearly year ago and I've kept an eye on temps so I don't believe this is what caused the heat sink to break but I don't want them to refuse to repair it because of my CPU

each reseller has its own warranty procedures. they will still be able to see its been overclocked even if you turn the clocks back to default.
check the terms and conditions on their website and contact support for rma.

MrDJ hit it on the head: each reseller has their own warranty stipulations. Some allow OCing to an extent, so long as you don't mod or over volt anything. Some may not want you doing it at all, and they may able to tell regardless as to whether you set the clocks back to defaults or not. Be sure to skim over their warranty page and/or ask a representative about it to avoid paying the postage on something they won't cover.

Xotic, I am looking at ordering a P375SM chassis with a single 780m, and I am wondering where I would go if I wanted to buy a second card in the future . The laptop I configured comes with 16 gigs of ram running at 1600 mhz, what make/model would that be? Or does it all depend on what you have in stock the day of the build? Also, what would it cost to have it ship with a Samsung 840 pro 128 gig drive in addition to the 750 gig drive?
    Thanks for the help!

    hi Equitis,
If you would like to add a second card while they are still current an not replaced by a newer generation we can usually order you one from Sager. If you're comfortable installing it yourself you can do that or send it in to get done.
RAM module brands do vary so we cant never guarantee what will be installed, it will always be a high quality one though.
Sager doenst offer Samsung SSD so we cant get one preinstalled in there. They just offer the Crucial and Intel drives. You're welcome to install your own SSD if you prefer Samsung and it wont void any warranty. Or do consider Intel as they are also really nice SSD.

    @Xotic

I'm looking to buy an ultrabook, or light laptop 5lb or under. On your site, none of the Asus models are refreshed yet with Haswell, and none of the new Clevo books come under 5 lbs. I have customized a Sager NP2650 with the HDD replaced with a SSD and a secondary SSD in the mSATA slot as well. Will this put it under 5lb? (listed at 5.5lb). I'd prefer a new Haswell chip to take advantage of the battery life improvement. So I guess the question is, when do you suspect the Asus ultrabooks will be refreshed with 4th gen processors, and any news of Sager ultrathin/light (<4 lb) cases soon? Thanks.

You wont get much of a weight decrese when switching to a SSD. A regular hard drive is around 3.4-3.8 ounces and a SSD around 2 ounces so you'll lose some weight but nothing too drastic.
No ETA on when Asus ultrabooks will come out with the new Haswell CPU. Intel just released the i7 and the i5 are due to follow 1-2 months later. We'll probably see the CPU's for the ultra books as those come out.

No ETA at the moment, however, should be within 2 - 3 weeks... :)

    hi rommell1942,
The second hard drive bay is a 7mm so most HDD wont fit in there but thinner SSD's will thats why only SSD's are options.
If you dont need 1.5TB size I would get a SSD in the second drive, have Windows and your programs installed on there, then use the HDD for your storage. Your computer will be much quicker if you get a SSD.

No problem, and external is a good option too. You can wait until you fill up the 750GB which is really hard to do anyway unless you have lots of video saved on there.
