I rolled back the Realtek drivers to the previous version (was not straightforward, but I managed it). But SBX is still broken. Any idea how I can get SBX working again ?

 

You just need to install the Audio driver with the option i mentioned unticked, that will install the latest audio driver from CLEVO with SBX support.
Please try to update the Killer drivers again, it should be fixed now.

 

I tried that - installing the audio drivers with the option unticked. It still didn't work. Then I installed the Audio drivers downloaded directly from Clevo, without using the App. Now SBX is working again.
Will try the LAN driver update and let you know.

 

I tried the LAN driver update again. Now it says "Operation completed successfully". However the drivers were not updated, it's still the older version and the app shows "Update" again.

Thanks. I've also tried to restart the PC after updating just to be sure, but it still gives me the UPDATE button available after restart.

 

updating the killers things directly from their website.. the suite.. i'll let you know if i have issues.. so far i had no issues with my suite up to date

So i can make some tests, i think the problem is my method will install drivers on a fresh install, but for some reason it wont update if you already a driver installed.
If you are willing to allow me to do some testing it would be great.

 

If you install the killer drivers via the inf method on the p870 (or any clevo with dual ethernet ports, not sure if that's the only one) you have to install them twice, once for each of the each of the Ethernet ports.

If you don't only one will will get the updated drivers and then windows will throw up a driver mismatch error (two different driver versions for the same hardware loaded into memory) and then load the old driver version since it's the only one that's common for both pieces of hardware. The obsidian tools app will also show an update button.

Not sure ifs that what's causing the issue but that's what I noticed when I tried manually updating my own drivers via inf.

 

guys i just updated to latest killers wifi drivers for my 1535 ( the ones from may 5th) but once installed, my network suite won't even detect my wifi card anymore! i had to unistall it and re install the verison from april 5.. and all back to normal, thanks god they had a previous version on the killers website or i would have been screwed..

 

Can you update the driver standalone via the inf?

 

No I have not tried that because I like the suite ..

I don't know if you downloaded the latest suite last time, but what I'm wondering is if you can update the driver through the inf, yet keep the current version of the software suite and have it still work. We haven't tested it yet, but if I have a chance later today, I'll give it a go.

 

I am thankful I did not pay extra for Killer now, Intel 8265 suits me well, and I plan to sell my m.2 8265 wifi when Intel 9260 hits Ebay ^^ should be an easy swap and just download drivers for it direct from Intel.

 

yes i always downloaded the latest suite.. and i never had a single problem.. i'm very pleased with my card. today it's the first time i get a problem just because i saw there was an update i went ahead and downloaded the suite... and i got this problem super easily reverted back.. this version is just 3 days old so maybe they are gonna fix it right way..
yes i might try that but i don't want the killer suite to enter in some kind of conflict...

All killer setups are now fixed and should work.
A restart might be needed after installing tough, not sure, i will add a warning on the app!

EDIT: For those of you who use the suite and want to keep it, updating just the driver seems to be working just fine, you keep the suite and it will use the latest driver.

 

I had bought an 8260 to replace my 1535. Its WiFi performance was better, but the Bluetooth aspect was quite a bit worse. I use a BT Xbox One controller, and with the Intel, there was noticeable performance degradation that wasn't present with the Killer. Since my P670 is connected via Ethernet most of the time, I went back to the 1535. The April driver update with new suite offered a dramatic improvement in WiFi connection speed and stability, so I have no qualms about using it.

 

Hardware and driver is good i give you that.
The suite is my problem. Sometimes it works, sometimes it totally messes the system.
I have lost count the number of times ive seen crippled systems, a common issue is out of the blue the suite is taking 10+% of system resources...
Other times the install/uninstall process just goes crazy and it´s a mess to clean it up.
I wont supply the suite ever again in my app, and on this one ill be stubborn until the end.

 

That was true of the old suite for sure, but the redesigned one is much better. I'm not saying you should support it, but now it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

 

i love the suite, right now i'm using the april's one ( i already sent bug report to killer for may's one not working) plus the updated inf that johh updated with his app.. and so far so good.. everything perfect.. i'll let you know if anything wrong happens!

 

Hey @John@OBSIDIAN-PC I am having issues with LAN update at my end. App cannot seem to be able to update to the latest version, 9.0.0.44. My current verssion is 9.0.0.22. Every time I get the notification to update the lan driver, I click on update, it updates it, and then half an hour later, it goes back to 9.0.0.22.

 

Killer's networking drivers have been, historically, a bit fickle, even to date; I had the installer (for the 1535) - without the suite - cause a BSOD on an MSI GE62 recently. The INF worked just fine.

 

Well when m.2 Intel 9260 hit ebay I doubt they cost that much, they come with bluetooth 5.0 btw

I loved the old Obsidian app personally, I had 0 issues installing all my new drivers, I did not use widget or any of that other stuff though. I liked your old app better for installing drivers though, it did everything in the background and was super fast, this one shows me its downloading the file... and the progress of it, etc. Wasn't needed imo, I loved the sleek install method you had

 

Hey, can someone please confirm my Throttlestop settings are ok? Or post pictures of yours to help me I also have not touched the BIOS as John instructed, just TS the heck out of it. Temps are great btw, John 1.05.05 BIOS lowered temps for me, Clevo man... they really need some help lol

 

The install method is just executing the setup .exe
Always been and always will.
The inf install method is something people will thank me in the long run... Trust me, that's just for very specific drivers all the rest is the same as always been.

As for the UI there are good reasons and plans behind everything I do, I don't just redo hundreds of lines of code for nothing.

The ability to have processes and queues is really something I need to keep improving the app.

But the way it works is always the same, check installed, compare with latest on server, download update and trigger setups. Kinda basic stuff.

But I need to make it easy, informative and intuitive.
And there was just too many bad code behind it.

Also remember I mostly add requests, you ask I make.
Stuff like widgets are just my playground to do experiments about stuff that I'm learning.

Tabs like BIOS and CPU will all get the same amount of re-work like what I just did with the drivers stuff. Will clean and finish it in the way I always wanted, remove dirty code and make it more functional and useful.

 

I have always made sure that the CPU core and CPU cache were the same offset. I see you haven't touched yours.

APP Updated to 1.03.05

-New add to startup method for both app and throttlestop - It now creates Schedule Tasks
-By starting with Windows app get ADMIN Rights so less nag
-Added Recommended Software / Recommended Install in tab "Others"
-Shutup10 (Recommended install) will be available in APP tray icon menu if present
-Moved the "Refresh" button to the bottom of the app plus description about when was the last time app connected to server
-On app opening if you use the option "Start With Windows" for both APP and TS, the app checks if there was a directory change (if you moved the app to another dir), if you did it will trigger a "Update Tasks" to reflect the new paths.
-Started re-doing the CPU tab section.
-CPU TAB: Removed the functions that used to allow you to download a profile and apply it, it was causing a lot of trouble to many user, it´s very hard to make a profile to fit all, im redoing this section so i will think about a better solution
-CPU TAB: Browser for profile file, this is intended for our clients since we provide a USB pen with the app + CPU profile done and tested in the client unit
-On app start if there is a app update you get a message and the active tab will be the "ABOUT"
-Some UI changes (more flat, less round)

 

Realtek removed the MBAPO232.DLL and MBAPO264.DLL files (as well as the gwfilt64.sys & mbfilt64.sys files) from their audio driver packages, starting with v6.0.1.8037. R2.81 (8036) is the last official one with those files.

Though ASRock has v6.0.1.8051 drivers & Gigabyte has v6.0.1.8053 drivers WITH Creative SBC/SBX integration on them.

If you want Realtek audio with SBX/SBC (sound blaster cinema), you will need to use PC manufacturer drivers as Realtek will no longer publish many new audio drivers with Creative SBC/X-FI MB integration [unless of course PC/OEM manufacturers make requests to Realtek to include Creative audio integration in new drivers]. Many of the realtek audio drivers from Microsoft Windows Update (from 8037 and greater) no longer have Creative audio integration (perhaps to reduce the "bloat" in their audio driver packages).

 

Recently after installed Creator Update, my Clevo P650RS-G keep BSOD when running game. Now I reformat back to Anniversary Update but I cannot run the game anymore. The game will just turn into black and freeze. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Is this issue related to old bios version or nvram issue?

i would clean install Windows 10 from scratch, install all drivers with the Obsidian Tool, install the refering game do not do any undervolting and test it again. If the fault stays exactly the same -> check RAM with memtes86+ check HDD/SSD for errors -> problem still there -> RMA :-(

 

Are you running ThrottleStop with the Obsidian CPU profile ? The profile may not be suitable for you.
As the above poster suggested, try running the game without any modifications to the CPU/GPU voltage, frequency etc.

 

Yeap that´s why the latest version does not include the profile thing.

Hi everyone, my laptop will be coming tomorrow or Thursday!!

Just a question for those undervolting. The laptop was tested and undervolted with Intel XTU. Is it still recommended that I do an NVRAM reset and undervolt with obsidian tool CCC and throttlestop? Thanks! Or is using XTU still fine for now? I'd just like to avoid the fan tables problem if possible!

 

Just untick the "Use latest Audio drivers" in the settings tab, then go back to the drivers tab and install the audio driver again.

Basically if you tick "Use latest Audio drivers" - As the name says it will install latest Realtek
If it´s not ticked it will install latest CLEVO

Hey John, thanks for the amazing app! Just one quick question, so I have Throttlestop attached and it's working as intended, however one little problem that I'm running into!

Right now I have it as minimize on close, however what I want to do is it to minimize it into the system tray. Apparently, in settings, all I have to do is tick off task bar however it still will only minimize normally, and not into the system tray as I believe it should with those settings ticked.

If there is a solution, I would definitely like to know! Thank you.

 

Scratch that, found a solution!

Turns out I need to clean my notification area icon cache, there was a batch file that could be run through a youtube link I found:



and that fixed everything! Obviously use at your own risk, but it fixed my problem.

 

Inside our app folder, open Throttlestop folder and you will find "cleannotificationare.bat" or something like that... run that and voilá (sometimes you will need to restart).
