CLEVO Drivers Update Utility by OBSIDIAN-PC

Same problem with Airplane driver update. Also Intel ME keeps asking to update even running latest version. It says it has version 0.0.0.1 installed and prompts to install 11.7.0.1014. After i "update", it just offers the options to repair the installation or remove the software.

 

I got this issue as well yesteday after updating Intel Chipset driver: I resolved it forcing update of Intel ME and then restarting the machine. After that, no more error.

Meanwhile yesterday I needed also to force update Synaptics driver since the touchpad didn't work anymore. After force update and restarting, all fine.

 

That´s more of a Windows bug then actually the app... the app only triggers the setup file.

Edit: Just uninstalled it and the noise is still there, so guess it's broken now because of it...

I can probably fix that, i can make you a "add lub" button option in my app!
If it´s a motorbike i can also provide apps for OBD diagnostics, fuel map editior and much more, been around stuff like that for the last year

 

Well I tried to uninstall the Airplane driver and after restarting, it was directly the Control Center to prompt the installation of the driver asking me to restart again. So I suppose it's this the clue: you can't update Airplane properly since it's in use and controlled by CC. Is it possible?

 

well that´s possible, and if so, i can try to kill CC before updating it... again, i shouldnt have to do it! but hey! if it solves....
I will try to reproduce and if i can ill try to fix it.

We will soon start to control who can use our app, things are just CRAZY at the moment.
Here´s what made me make this decision:

- We get dozens of emails everyday asking support for Drivers / BIOS from people who bought from re-sellers that i don´t even know, some of this emails are very rude, specially when we redirect these people to their re-sellers.

-Stupid behavior from re-sellers, those who tell their clients to keep "Style Note" BIOS even if it´s the first version, and saying they will not supply updates, and that there´s no need for drivers, actually recommending "Just use Windows Updates" or download from CLEVO, and no more support is being given, that is UNACCEPTABLE.

- We are sick of seeing some re-sellers giving ZERO support to the clients, no updates, no help, NOTHING, even denying to refund units that are clearly not performing right, throttling like crazy, with crippled old bios. Re-sellers who do not even have the drivers on their website. Forcing users to download from the slow ass CLEVO server.

- Now on top of this, there´s BIOS versions going around that can brick your unit, we already had to RMA some... this is due to re-sellers sharing tools that CLEVO does not allow, i have seen them on bios update files from these re-sellers websites, i have seen re-sellers or affiliates sharing them on this forum like it was nothing. @Prema knows about this.

So what are we doing?
We will limit our app to proper re-sellers, this means that if your BIOS is one of those "Style Note" type of thing then there´s a good chance you will be locked out, if you are using modded BIOS from users in any forum (unless it´s a recognized work like from @Prema) then you are out.

Trust me, we will keep investing a lot of time/money on our app, like in everything we do, but do not expect to buy in the cheapest re-sellers and then demanding on this forum that other users help you make your unit throttle free, get you updated or tuned bios and useful apps to keep your system updated. I´m sick of this, because some users either get what they want or they will say "CLEVO laptops suck" and hurt the business of hard working re-sellers.

Sorry about this but we cant keep "supporting" lazzy re-sellers and dangerous baked BIOS...

Its going to be a huge loss to the end user, your app is/was a true god send. However yes I agree with all your reasons. I have my training videos ripped off all the time so know how you feel about the situation.

I'm stuck with one of the less than zero support vendors and having dealt with them for over 2 months I'll never do that again after laying out a few grand I expect some support. Even getting repairs is a up hill struggle.

Without these forum's and support of John Obsidian, Prema, Mr Fox and many others, us with bad vendors would be left machines that can only be classed as pieces of near junk.

So when you come to order your next Clevo please support our good vendors, it will be one of the best decisions you'll make.

 

Nop still not sure, but the installer package is not complete so i´m trying to make one.

Maybe we can try to make some kind of deal to support developers.
We at OBSIDIAN do not want to sell software or BIOS but maybe i can setup a paypal account and route donations to the developers of Throttlestop / PREMA BIOS / and opensource bits used in our app i also need to mention @skandal who contributed A LOT and keeps doing it.
In exchange you can maybe flash a supported BIOS and stay inline not only with the app but with BIOS updates.

As for anyone with units bought from respectable re-sellers you will still be able to use the app. I don´t know, as with everything i need to think.

Next Update:
- The next app update will be directed to Support and bug fixes.
- App will include a remote control system like teamviewer, free, unlimited and no install needed, this will be part of the new "Support" tab.

I'm glad that I bought mine from you, John. Driver and BIOS updates have never been this easy with any laptop/desktop that I owned so far - not even MSI, Dell, HP.

John, Sorry to hear about the problems with people being rude and demanding.

We used to get a similar thing in my old job. You would give people quotes for a system and they would then build their own system based on that quote then phone up for tech support and say 'Well we built the system based on the quote you supplied' and would get nasty when we pointed out that they had built the system themselves and weren't entitled to support.

Some people just expect everything for free and think it's a right rather than a privilege.

 

I have a P670HS I bought it from Xotic but i don't know if updating the drivers on the app caused my touch pad to stop working but its not a huge deal because i use a real mouse all the time that said any word on actual bios updates from clevo im starting to lose my thought of them because

 

Hi John. I have an issue. App pushed a notification for control centre update, and I updated it. And it seems the old version of the control centre was uninstalled but the app did not install the newest version. App just displays "No Update" next to the Control Centre tab.

Should I just download the control centre from Clevo's website? I understand I'd need to manually edit out XTU profiles.

EDIT: Never mind, 'force enable' bit did the magic.

EDIT 2: It did 'install' the control centre and asked me to restart the computer. But I cannot find it after the restart. It is not in its usual location, and search function isn't much help either.

Should be there.
That's a Clevo release, tested it and it's working.
If needed re-install by clicking "Force Update".

 

just go into the device manager and uninstall the touchpad then restart. once windows is back up it will reinstall the driver and your good to go

I think I saw a few posts about your tool not being fully compatible with all laptop sellers, I wanted to ask a bit more about what happened, since I've missed a few good pages of replies..

I hope I'll be able to continue using your tool for as long as I have a Clevo laptop, it really makes things easier and having the drivers hand-picked is a sweet thing in a world where bad drivers can break one's experience with a computer.

 

I mean I know you got help from master @Prema with your bios. Due this I mean you can continue using OBSIDIAN tool later also.

Really wish the community would help me with a new BIOS, my original BIOS, and the Obsidian BIOS I have tried have this issue here: https://www.msi.com/faq/nb-2431.html and here https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/966304/problem-screen-lgd046e-from-lg-philips-/ - if you do not want to click those links, well basically at 75hz default and 100hz overclock on the screen, I get gradient issues, and only a 6 bpc output color depth for both 75hz and 100hz, when in fact, it should be 8 bpc.

Please advise what I should do. Specs in sig.

 

Yes this is right, for anyone with prema bios, and for most of the "famous" manufacturers we will make the app available, this should cover most of the users in this forum.

 

Its cool just we could make a dontation to perma and he let us know if we could get the bios but im not even sure if he will respond if i make a donation or how much he would like, either way your tool is amazong i open it everyday once or twice to see if there are any new updates and never had an issue with it.

I wish at the very least clevo them selfs would push out a solid bios update but i dont feel there commited to drivers

Teamviewer style remote control app, will be included in the tools app, good for our team to provide support (only works if you launch the remote app and provide id and pass, no security stuff that you need to worry about, it´s clean ).
This remote app is still on it´s initial phase but we already give support to our clients using it.
There´s two versions, one for getting support and one that you can use to your own benefit like you use teamviewer.

I have been using your app quite a lot to install drivers and such, the ones provided by clevo can get a bit confusing and outdated at times...

 

Hi, just wondering, will there be issue if I were to update driver of P650HP3 using P650HP6's driver in Obsidian-PC tool?

 

Not sure if all the drivers are the same, would need to check.
Usually the drivers that might be different are Control Center, Audio and SBX.

 

Hi John, could you tell me why BIOS 1.05.05 that Obsidian gave me does not allow me to OC more than 3.9ghz on all 4 cores in BIOS? I can do so in Intel XTU, but it would be nice to do it all in the BIOS.

 

You mean max turbo boost core ratio?
I have no idea, you mean there´s a max value you can input?
Also, don´t use XTU, really bad idea, just go with Throttlestop and set your settings with it.

 

I have a little feature suggestion. Maybe the tool could keep the history of the drivers installed to make it easier to roll back the driver version a week to the past.

Using our app go to "CPU TAB" and where it says "Load Profile" click "Browser" on the right and select that file
Test it and check the setting "2" - CPU ONLY, that includes OC.

I think there is a bug in your drivers for p650rs-G!

When I was trying to install Intel Drivers, under intel VGA it told me to update.

So, since you're app is so good, I just downloaded no questions asked LOL!

However, under Latest column, the driver is under 21.20.16.4691. But When I installed, the driver was 22.20.16.4691

Then, once I updated, my driver was ahead, and upon a quick google search, I'm not actually sure intel driver 22.20.16.44691 is actually compatible with intel HD 530.

So I went on the website to see if there was a log of latest drivers, and apparently the latest one they have intel hd 530 is driver 21.20.16.4678

Just wondering if there were possibly any issues with that, thanks!

But this seems to be something that will force me to update the app also, since I will now have to use two different Intel packages.
Let me just finish the update in hands and I'll get into that.

 

I can not get this to work for some reason. Windows 10 - I download Obsidian tool, cpu tab, I load that profile, a little command prompt flashes for a split second, and it shows this: but I check cpu speeds and the cpu is not overclocked... what do you mean by check the setting "2"? i do not see this anywhere. and everytime I click launch open throttlestop at the bottom of the picture below, it just says hot key failed, etc

 

Never mind John, I figured it out, Bitdefender was blocking your tool from running command prompt gg life

 

To stop a lot of "problems" we will be adding a manifest to elevate to administrator (sorry but avoiding this became impossible), if you dont want to be bothered just tick the "start with windows option", and we will add a digital certificate.

Next update will be HUGE!

 

John, is this anything we need to worry about? Says it applies to all operating systems. For those of us with your 1.05.05 BIOS? says to disable hyperthreading until you get a new BIOS

As both these chips have been out for a couple of years now without any real reports from users complaining about this issue, also given the fact that this issue only presents itself on select/rare workloads. I would say for 99.9999% of users should not have problems.

Nice John, I may be one of the first to use Remote Control with you, I would love for you to OC this bad boy for me, lol. I'm too scared to do more than 3.9 all 4 cores, i never break 70 celsius, but yeah Intel XTU just never works right for me, so I gave up. Throttlestop is also weird. I will let you have a whack it for me when you release your new tool, I am fine with being a test subject
