BUG REPORT

Today we noticed that some important files have been kept back, these files are QT libraries that the app uses.
Some time ago we updated the code for the latest QT build but we did not update the QT files in the app.
So i would advise everyone to download all app files and replace them.

- Close the app if running
- Just drag and drop all files from the zip to your app folder and replace everything

This will fix everything.

 

I just updated my BIOS through Obsidian Tools, 1.05.05 to .07, Windows 10 RS3, everything works great except that my battery charge icon does not read properly anymore, says 56% and charging sucks... hope it doesn't reach 0% and my laptop goes crapola, but it shows it is plugged in so hopefully I am in the clear, just messed up the reading sensor or something.

Obsidian Tools gave me all 3 green checkmarks and the A-OK to upgrade the BIOS though, so I don't know.

 

There is really no half update so if it finished the update and the app now shows you have the latest version then all is good.
We also test the bios in all our laptops and we build some daily that is flashed and tested with the same bios.
You probably need to make a full battery cycle to correct that info.

 

you were right, I unplugged and let battery drain, and its showing fully charged now after a full cycle lol.

 

Hi John I just used the app to update my drivers but all of a sudden I started the app again and its telling me the licence file is not found even if its in the same directory as the app files.

I also noticed sometimes it says cannot detect model when it first tries to start up and then resorts to the no licence file error after.

How can this be fixed please thank you, BTW specs are in my sig.

Don't worry problem seems to have resolved itself, thanks anyway.

 

In the new BIOS it shows intel trusted execution technology disabled, if i enable this will it damage anything? intel product page for i7-7820hk shos my cpu does not support this... so why does mobo say it does?

 

I dont think this thread is the best to discuss BIOS stuff, since the app does not allow for BIOS update for most of it´s users (non-clients).
If you have questions about it you can always PM me
There should be no problem with enabling it, probably just wont work if CPU is not supported. If i remember correctly it´s one of those security measures done specially for virtualization servers, not sure.
There are a lot of stuff that might not work if the hardware does not support it, i usually try not to enable options that wont do anything, been cleaning it up with each release.

If I'm from the US, how do buy the license? When I download Obsidan Tools, it says "License not found! Purchase license to unlock."

Update: Saw a couple pages back that there was a NBR license to download. I copied that file in the Obsidan Tools folder and it worked.

Ran into another problem while updating drivers, got all them updated except the Clevo Control Center and Fingerprint reader.

For Clevo Control Center, it stays stuck on "Installing Driver". I uninstalled my Clevo control center (5.0001.1.27) and launched Obsidan tools and tried updating and it's still stuck on "installing driver". I can't get it to update to 5.0001.1.33?

Also fingerprint driver install works, but then every time I go to check the version installed in obsidan tools, it says "none" is installed and that I should update? Weird thing though is that my fingerprint reader works when I sign into windows.

Update 2: downlaoded 5.0001.1.33 from clevo site, but it installed it as version 5.0001.1.27?

Still can't seem to update to 5.0001.1.33 through Obsidian Tools, stuck on "Installing Driver"..?

 

The application really does save time, but there are few glitched when updating some drivers like WiFi and LAN, which keeps showing as outdated or not found.

 

Which is your LAN and Wifi?
I test the app code in my two laptops:

One is Realtek Lan and Intel Wifi
The other is Killer Lan and Killer Wifi

Both update just fine.

- P950HP6 - Control Center URL was wrong, should be fixed now.
- P950HP6 - Sorry about the fingerprint, i thought it was the same as P6 series, but in fact it uses the same as P7 series, updated and changed it, should work fine now.

Nahhhh, it´s very simple, the more feedback i get the best the app is going to get!
Bug reports, ideas, suggestions, that´s what will make the app better.

 

Does anyone know if my clevo p670hs-g laptop (see sig for specs) has a hdmi 2.0 or hdmi 1.4 on the back of it? im guessing its not 2.0? or do all 1070/1080 laptops automatically have 2.0 hdmi? i wanted to buy an external monitor for it, but the external requires 2.0

Are there any details from the P950HP6 1.08 BIOS update? My reseller only updated me to 1.07 about 1-2 weeks ago, so is 1.08 a newer one?

Is anyone else unable to run ThrottleStop? It refuses to run, giving me the usual "This version has now expired" message - but this time, it doesn't go away after replacing the files - WTF?!

 

Same here, it expired but they didn't release any new version. A month ago they said it would be out within 2 weeks. This never happened before Throttlestop had the "Obsidian" logo on it. (meaning it never expired before a new version was out, well as long as I've used it). Why in the world is there an expiration date anyway?

I wonder if my PC still uses the settings I configured in Throttlestop before it expired or if it's back to no undervolt.

But don't worry you can just turn back the date on your PC to have it working again (and probably cause other issues with other programs)

 

Temporary fix: Use RunAsDate

IMO, this is a much better option than messing with your system clock.

 

Throttlestop is a free utility developed by a forum user. We just have to be patient and wait for an update.

 

Got same message here also, also I am unable to bring app up to view, it goes strait to task bar. tried updating to new version listed a few pages ago no luck.

 

Avast thinks the 32bit version has a virus, I'm guessing avast is most likely wrong but it makes me a bit hesitant to download it anyway. (64bit version doesn't seem able to run throttlestop)

 

Click the app icon in system tray, double click it.
If it does not working you have bad QT library files, just download the app again and replace the files:

And yes, since ThrottleStop is a 32-bit program, you need the 32-bit version.

 

John I am having trouble with the LAN driver. It says I need to update the driver after every reboot! I am at 9.0.0.44, and the latest driver is 9.0.0.46. I have tried updating but somehow it revert backs to the previous version after teh reboot.

 

LAN Killer E2500 Driver v9.0.0.46 (go to device manager, then right click on the ethernet controller(s), then choose Update Driver Software, then manually browse to the folder which you extracted)

 

That did it!

Sigh..yes it is indeed the blasted windows update . I encountered the issue only after installing the new windows updates.

My laptop is the P670RG and its not listed on the drop down menu. I'm just going to use the P670RS-G

 

App updated to 1.05.02

- App now verifies the Throttlestop version and automatically updates it if needed

- A small correction in the ThrottleStop update routine, it will now relaunch after update if your settings was "Start TS with Windows".
- App now auto-updates itself on startup - A lot of people were reporting problems that were causing by the user not updating the now, now it will ALWAYS update.

is there a way to fix this (minor) bug in some of the next updates?

The latest Intel chipset driver update includes version 11.7.0.1041 of the Intel ME.

However, Obsidian Tool fails to read the correct value and shows this instead:



The same already happened some months ago, again after updating the chipset drivers, so it isn't linked to a particular build.

That is weird, we use the app dailly on all our units and production line, that does not happen in any unit.
The only time when we see that is after using the MESET.exe (to unluck the ME for BIOS update).
I would load BIOS setup defaults if i was you, or do a FN+D+Power ON to reset NVRAM.
Then update the ME again and reboot.

 

I'll give it a try, although I'm 99.9% sure that I didn't run any variant of MESet since installing the latest BIOS some months ago and I definitely did reset the NVRAM afterwards.

The only way to make Obisidian Tool display the correct version is installing the Intel ME standalone package. Which I won't do since it is older (.1041 vs. .1040).

Not a real issue since it is only cosmetic, but still a bit weird.

Having the same problem. This only happened after I installed the latest Intel chipset.

 

I´m still on it, it´s weird because none of my units is doing the same.
If you use powershell to report the running drivers Intel Management Engine should always be reported, if running at least, that´s where the app gets the version number.
So it does not make any sense that it is not working.

Also for the next update i added a SynTP.sys BSOD fix in the app, which led me to my next conclusion, the famous SynTP.sys BSOD is not caused only by the Hotkey keyboard and mouse filters, it seems that too much undervolt can cause the SynTP.sys to crash too.

PS. The SynTP.sys is something i been trying to solve with CLEVO support, so if anyone having this problem can share a memory dump this would help us both get to the root of it.

 

What is the exact command to use in Powershell?
