Hi bro, one of my friends is complaining that when he downloads the CCC for the P870KM1 it's downloading the older .07 version not the .10 version

I know Clevo's site has the versions updates but the actual files are not yet. :(

I asked John about this last week. He said that the version information was not updated by Clevo, hence the setup shows 1.1.7. Look below
    oem.ini shows version 5.1.1.10
setup.ini shows 5.1.1.7 (during setup, you see the same)
    Control Center.exe also has 5.1.1.7

Btw I downloaded the CCC from XMG's website, it's the same. So looks like the one that the Obsidian APP downloads is the latest version available.

    classical Clevo Swiss Cheese:

there are 2 clowns in the drivers team at Clevo
Clown A updates the driver version numbers
Clown B updates the actual files on the FTP server
due to lack of synchronization between clown A and Clown B
    sometimes...
Clown A puts a driver number like .10
but the actual file is still .7
because clown B forgot to upload the new file

Basically you can always trust my app to report the correct "installed" version.
I took really lots of steps to make sure it reports the correct version:
    -From fetching dll versions
-Actually checking all runnning .sys drivers
    -Getting version from Windows registry
-And for the CC it goes inside the oem.ini

Each CC belongs to each selected model, just like the CLEVO website, same goes for Audio and SBX.
Then theres drivers according to model specif hardware, like Fingerprint for P6 / P7 and P8, LAN (Realtek, Killer, new Killer for P870KM1-G).

Then there is rules to uninstall first / restart / resume for CC also.

There are more stuff in there, as you see something as simple as driver install actually is more complex than it looks.

Oh and yes, It is just like @Rynaus said, clevo messed up on the versions number, so what i do is not only mod to remove XTU but also make sure to clean the current version.

    New app update:
    - Fixed App Version check on startup not working if no model was selected.
    - Fixed one step in BIOS security check that sometimes did not allow you to proceed ( too much safety :p )
    - Some other minor fixes that i did not wrote down, hence i forgot what it was, hence no one cares, lets just move on

Some of the latest driver updates:
    -Updated Realtek Card Reader
    -Updated Realtek LAN
    -Updated Intel Rapid Storage

device manager shows "biometric device egistec ES603 swipe fingerprint sensor", but both drivers don't work. I mean, if it did, i'm sure win10 would have allowed me to use "fingerprint" as a mode to log on to my win10?

Hey John. Thanks again for all the hard work, keeping the drivers up-to-date :)

Question: Why is the CCC installed without XTU ? What's wrong with XTU ? I personally prefer the simple and clean interface more than ThrottleStop and I use it to enable/disable/tweak certain features which cannot be done in the BIOS. The only missing feature for me would be profiles.

Not sure if it's true for other systems, but XTU messes with the fan tables on the P6XXRS line, causing them to behave erratically. At the very least, you need to reset the BIOS/NVRAM to get things back to normal. Worst case scenario will require a clean OS reinstall. It's pretty nasty stuff.

Oh I think John has mentioned this to me before, I forgot. Btw, what do you mean by "messing with the fan tables"? How do I know if my fan curves are now messed up ? Do you know if anyone with P870DMx has had this problem ? Mine is a P870KM1. Thanks.

I don't have the P870DM, but am a P775DM3 user. Anecdotal evidence suggests that XTU tends to run fans either somehwere in the vicinity of their highest rpms or towards the lowest rpms, and thus ruining your temperatures; In my own experience, a typical 'messed up' scenario would go something like this, I would start Witcher 3, and fans would pretty much start running at max rpms.. So far so good, but then I would close the game, but fans would not climb down to lower rpms but continue to work at their max. It is, as @saturnotaku said pretty nasty stuff.

Thanks for the details guys :) I think I'll stick to XTU for now and see how it works behind the scenes. So far I've had no such problems on my P870KM1. The auto fan profile works fine according to temperatures, ramping up and down as needed when I'm working/gaming etc. Thanks for the hint though, I'll keep a close eye for weird behaviors !

Btw, I installed XTU myself. Neither XTU nor the Clevo CPU Overclock utility were installed by the Obsidian Driver Tool. I still don't have the CPU Overclock utility, don't need it. May be that could make a difference.

Sorry about that but i have no plans about adding older models, unless i actually finish what i have in hands and really get some free time.

I´m about to finish the first release of the "performance" tab but i took some time off codding to finish another project:

    - BIOS / VBIOS flashing and reading - INLINE, no chip solder required. In most of the units the bios and vbios chip are very easy to find, like under the keyboard and such.
So my tech team now can flash / read any BIOS/VBIOS chip without having to solder anything or even do full disassembles!

Now about to finish the same work for the EC ITE chip and then i can go back to the app!

I think the stupid behavior from XTU is generally when the Clevo Control Center is installed with the Clevo CPU OC Utility enabled. If you have never installed Clevo Control Center or install it with the CPU OC tool disabled it doesn't seem to have issues. At least with my P870DM3 that is the case. There is really no reason to install or use the Clevo CPU or GPU OC tools because the aftermarket utilities work much better. But, it's nice that they are available. For people that rarely ever overclock and don't go wild when they do, the Clevo tools will get the job done.

So, for reference, installing CCC with XTU disabled gives control over fans but not OC? If that's the case then it's perfectly reasonable for me as I already use external software for OCing anyway.

I installed XTU on my MSI laptop and it doesn't mess up the fan tables. I wonder what causes it to mess them up on ALL Clevo laptops

I think it is the overclocking features in Clevo Control Center. XTU never used to do weird stuff before Clevo added CPU and GPU overclocking tools. XTU itself works fine. XTU plus Clevo Control Center seems to cause weird behavior sometimes, but not with the Clevo overclocking features disabled. It is never a good idea to have more than one overclocking tool active at the same time, as it can cause conflicts and instability.

OK, that audio driver I referenced earlier does have a bug that causes the system volume to increase after waking the machine from sleep. What's strange is that the volume number doesn't change, but the audio is much louder. Version 6.0.1.8004 doesn't seem to have this problem while at the same time not causing the slider to jump to 100% like it does on the "official" P670RS driver.

Originally I installed the CCC from Obsidian Driver Tool - no XTU, no CPU Overclock utility.

Then I installed XTU and configured a few things.

Next I got the CPU OC utility to work as well.

Everything is fine, no messed up fan tables or weird fan behavior.

    Requesting community HELP:

I just rolled Audio Driver update for P775DM3-G and P751DM2-G and i need your help to tell me if it works fine!!

I did test it in my system and i think i got it working perfect with XFI! But i need more people testing.

What i need you to do: Update it, make sure you also use XFI MB5 (Creative SBX) which is a driver in the tab "Others" and tell me if the SBX software is working and if the audio is good for you.

If this works it means from now on i can supply everyone with always the latest official REALTEK driver, working with your unit with SOUNDBLASTER driver also working.

I need someone with a P751DM2-G and someone with a P775DM3-G to reply to this thread.

    Thank you all!

It works fine but I had to disable driver signature enforcement for the driver to install.
I tried different settings in XFI and it worked fine.
    Great job on the tool!

One thing I did wonder. I'm on BIOS 1.06.06 which is the latest as far as I was aware, but the utility tells me there's an update available

Yes, that is what I was asking about!

This is because me is an audiophile and I spent quite a bit working on the audio profiles I'm using. Regardless of that, I can save them so it's not a big problem!

Just a tiny advice, but please test before adding them to the update tool.

Some Nvidia drivers can be really hit and miss. Like really break things up sometimes.

I always try them at least in two units.
Tested in my P751 and my P650RP6, been running great since release.
One extra day of testing would probably be better i suppose.

Some of the test that show problems are playing a rather unstable game, using madVR with different settings and using multiple monitors.

Also, you might want to do a photoshop / atom run to see if they have flashing colors problems and some youtube / facebook videos which can gather quite a lot of flashing colors bugs due to the broken drivers. Those problems happen much more for P775 since it doesn't have an intel GPU.

A very clever tool. I've paid good money for similar software in my naïve past. Thanks so much for this!

There's a new Fingerprint driver and Clevo Control Center available.

Haven´t been able to download that Control Center version.
Fingerprint driver already updated in the app, if you reinstall it using the app it will update it but the "installed" version check will break, i will fix this in the next app update. This was caused by a new directory structure used in this latest version.

    The app is already @ 10.0.14393.21296 :p
