    LOL :p

WHAT? What´s the problem in using it with a MSI ?
One of the main features is that the app is fully portable and crap free.
I refuse to accept that you will not use it in your MSI :p

Can you show me a printscreen of the model selection box?
Im sure the P870KM1-G is there, im looking at it, maybe it´s a problem with the layout and your operating system.

ok I redownloaded it and ran it, now it shows the KM1 or maybe I was blind before

one thing I noticed though why doesn't the app show in the taskbar icons when it is in focus? it only appears in the system tray when minmized

Yeah i could make it work like that but i honestly dont like having icons in the taskbar.
I like it to live only in the tray icons like a background thing that will report if there is updates and such.

Now that I am an "official" Obsidian customer, next time there is a new BIOS update, I will try it via the app :D :p

Perhaps you could make it go to the system tray when it is closed as well and add an Exit context menu to close the app from the tray. Since it is intended to run always, it makes sense since after opening it, I think the usual tendency is to click the close and not minimize.

I can confirm today that XTU messes up the fans ! So far I used it only to modify 1 or 2 settings and it worked fine. Today I tried to apply the Default XTU profile to reset everything and after reboot, the fans were acting strange, spinning high without any reason. I even had a BSOD when trying to enable Max Fans. I had to do an NVRAM reset to get it working normally again. Thanks to John for the quick help :) I removed XTU from the system and so far everything looks ok.

So for anyone who is reading this, I would also say - Stay away from XTU !!

not really with the exception that its best to use CCC version that's meant for it (diff. fan table profiles) and different fingerprint scanner driver and best to stick to its own touchpad driver

rest of the drivers are compatible

I had a look, selected the DM3 profile and the only thing that shows as "not installed" is the fingerprint reader driver on the "Main Drivers" tab. The rest of the version numbers show up if that means anything. I'm just not sure which of the drivers are specific for the P870DM (e.g. CCC I believe) and which aren't

    edit: beaten
Thanks for the info - and also thanks for your driver thread

Kudos to both you guys for offering the end user support that Clevo CBF doing :)

I can understand your perspective but I'd like to suggest something that would satisfy everyone, namely both having the option when minimizing ir going on tray and being able to close it from the tray icon through right clicking and selecting exit as well as when hitting the close button on the main window, it would actually close the application. How does it sound? :)

For reference, I'm thinking on similar usability (potentially similar options) to ThrottleStop's.

Ok everyone i just released a update!
    PLEASE READ THIS:
The PERFORMANCE tab is a initial release that relies on throttlestop. This update was not because of this tab but i decided to let it go like this so you can start giving me input. I fixed so many stuff that i had to make a release even before the performance tab is ready!

    What´s new:
-Fixed P870KM1 Fingerprint driver detection for the latest driver version.
    -UI Changes
-First beta version of Performance TAB - No settings bank uploaded yet!! I would stay away from this tab for now.
-Fixed some bugs where the app would not refresh the installed driver version for Chipset and FP
-Not that you care but a lot of sensitive links (cof cof BIOS files) are now encrypted against HEX snoop :p
-More stuff was done but i don´t remember.... yeah live with it, i dont make change logs like i should!

The unfinished tab looks like this when you actually use a "settings bank":

Yeah i know i know... this was a messy process... from the start it was just supposed to be a Autorun exe for our USB Pen with like 3 buttons or something... some how that escalated quickly. LOL
One of these days i will dedicate a full day just for that... i keep saying this... but i already started something new which will be a nice addition :p

No problem then, next app update will include encrypted app to server handshake and i will include dummy code so that you think you got the bios url but in fact it will brick your unit... is that good? hahahaha :p joking

EDIT: Wait... hum... how would wire shark tell you the URL? It would only tell you if you could connect in the first place, so if you can connect that means you are a client, if you are a client you can download the BIOS... i´m i missing something in your logic? :p

@Rynaus Wireshark would only tell you the download URL when it is requested from his web server. While OBSIDIAN Tool may check the BIOS version, it doesn't download the BIOS package until the other validity checks are passed, thus you would not see the http request. Putting the download server behind SSL would help, but someone desperate would just use a SSL MITM proxy (like Fiddler or Charles) to decrypt. What he has now is better than what he had before, but there is always a way to defeat it.

Designed to work with OVERCLOCK fan profile. Really limited on clocks so it´s ment to be used just for testing.

the other problem is bro, the user who showed me that he had the Killer suite installed, it wasn't even listed under programs and features in control panel, so in order for us to uninstall it, we reinstalled the Killer Suite over the top, then uninstalled it after it appeared in the programs and features using Revo Uninstallers

We only need the INF file but I am not sure how you can do that via the Obsidian Tool

For most of the drivers, you will find driver only installation package like the one listed above. However in the future if you have to manually install drivers using a .inf file, you can do it with the Windows Device Console (devcon).

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/drivers/devtest/devcon

devcon allows you to enable, disable, restart, update, query, install and remove device drivers. It is part of the Windows Driver Kit (WDK).

You can create batch files for install and remove (or update etc.), something like:

    devcon /install driver.inf
    devcon /remove ID

Well i just noticed that devcon is not a default Windows 10 tool, i would have to make the app user install it.
I will google some more to try to get it done.

Hmm I also realized that devcon cannot be distributed. There are many other ways to install a driver, using DPInst etc. - look here http://forum.installsite.net/index.php?showtopic=15898

devcon sources are available in WDK. You can use this source code in your Obsidian Tool. I think this would be the easiest way.

nVIDIA GeForce Driver updated to v378.92

This is just for you, John! And keep up the good work!

I own a P775DM3-G with GTX 1080 and i7-7700k (manifactured by Santech, an Italian seller of Clevo) and I'm fighting every day on the front line of the battle against throttling, as you can imagine :)

Dear John, I've tried it yesterday while playing with Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered and Battlefield 1.

CPU: With COD4:MWR, on all Ultra and 4k resolution, I got 92 celsius maximum temperature during the cutscenes and much lower during the playtime. Meanwhile on Battlefield 1, almost all Ultra and k resolutions, the maximum temperature has peaked at 96 celsius while playing (average on 84, checked with logs). So, no throttle yesterday and that's good for sure :) but still very hot. Please keep in mind that in the past I reached 100 celsius several times while playing on Battlefield 1. Never had any issue with FPS, however, that remained stable around 47 min / 60 max.

GPU: maximum temperature reached 87 celsius, in line with my previous past testing. Never had issue with the GPU so far, luckily.

If you want I can make other testing sessions this evening when I'm back home from work and let you know.

Edit: I added my PC spec in signature

I see, i was already considering that some unit would not have the same cooling system like the ones we sold which included "Delidded CPU + Modded Cooler + Liquid Metal" so this "profiles" things is going to be messy, it will probably work great with our units, which is the ones i have in hands to make the profiles, but it will probably be too hot for some other vendors.
The best i can advise is to further improve your cooling system or the profile.

Today i will release a app update and probably some more profiles for other CPUs.

Btw the minimize to taskbar, close to tray icons is done :p will be included on next update.

Meanwhile, good to know for the app update, I'm waiting for it.

Any clue on how can I further improve the profile? I've seen it's already quite heavy undervolted (-143.6 mV in Offset Voltage), so I would be very careful to lower it more. What else I can do?

Not much more to do i´m afraid, as soon as you reach your max undervolt going further will probably make your system unstable.

Ok, thanks. Just another question: two days ago, I reached PROCHOT 98 (it was checked on TS) while I was playing. I didn't noticed any FPS issue or similar, and when I quit the game I also noticed that CMod and Chip were still at 100% capacity for all core. Is it normal? Shouldn't the CPU throttle at that time?

    - Right click the tray icon and select "Exit" to really close it
    - Fixed a Throttlestop startup action

Direct link to download only the OBSIDIAN-PC Throttlestop version:

7700K profile updated, nothing new actually, just removed the Throttlestop icon from taskbar to stay in line with the OBSIDIAN APP.

More to come, this is the initial release of this Throttlestop version :p
