John,
So ver 1.03. How do i get it to monitor anything ? CPU temp is frozen at 24 % and GPU temp : Disabled. 0%
P870 DM3 with 2x 1080.
Is there anything special i need to do ? I opened NVIDIA control panel = no change

This is extremely beta, and as i stated before there is currently no support for P870 or any system with dual GPU... that will come soon. -
ah ok. I completely missed that. I await with anticipation
-
It's working now. Really awesome tool. I guess the only suggestion I can give is make the fan speed transition becomes smoothly instead of directly jump to the value that makes the fans suddenly becomes loud then silent.
-
Hey! Seems that all previous problems are gone now, i've rebooted several times with different modes applied, Fan Control successfully restoring Automatic EC mode on reboot, no notifications 'this app is preventing restart' anymore, just great!
Got the crazy GPU temp and 100% fans because of it on 1.0.2 too, but it's fixed in 1.0.3
Now it's working flawlessly for me, i'll keep trying to break it though
Really hope that resellers will cooperate (special hopes for Sager or LPC Digital), i dont really care about LEDs and other cosmetic stuff, but drivers and fan control - that is the main things which Clevo lacks IMHO (proper cooling too, but thats not really unique for them
)

So when I launch the Fan Control, it kills my Open Hardware Monitor process. Is this intended behaviour?
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
NO IT´S NOT WORKING!!!
Careful your second GPU is not being monitored!!!
For smooth transitions you can tune it yourself in the Behavior tab! -
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Don´t use other instances of OHM, this beta uses it as a monitoring engine, final version should use EC values or/and others...
If you use other instances of OHM at the same time it WILL NOT WORK...
This is a BETA to test the UI, SET FAN, and stability. -
Hi,
My laptops been back to seller for 2months being repaired. OS and drives haven't been touched but my obsidian tools isn't working and just asking for purchase. I've already purchased it this year.
Thanks -

It means they replaced the motherboard so now you have a new UUID. Please PM me with your new UUID and original order number and I will fix it. -
doesnt work on the "monster laptop" from turkey(originally clevo)
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
I do not want to sound rude but comments like "doesnt work" are kinda pointless.
What does not work?
What error do you get?
What is the laptop model?
What is your OS version?

How much would the license for driver updater cost?
If possible, could you please add the following accessibility elements as feature request for some future dev work:
- tooltips or labels for Call-To-Action (your buttons, links etc)
- proper highlight for tabbing through elements
- tabbing order is a bit odd
ThanksLast edited: Jul 24, 2018 -

You're talking about the Updater software? Tooltips are coming in the next update. The other suggestions I didn't understand what you mean, can you give more specific examples?

Hi @John@OBSIDIAN-PC, I think after pressing minimize button, make the app removes from taskbar then hide to system tray.
-
My vote is for the updater staying free, but it probably won't matter for me. I will most likely be purchasing the full package.

That's already there... Checkout the settings tab.

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC, with the same increase in the number of different products, would you like to make the opportunity to purchase the full package of programs, with a small discount? One payment, and everything is ready at once. That would be wonderful. It seems to me (and I think for others too) uncomfortable to follow links and go through the payment process every time.
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
There is only two paid apps, everything else is free... but ok ill do that.
Also... please keep in mind, officially there is only ONE currently commercial product (Updater), since Fan Control is a free beta at the moment.FTW_260 likes this. -

Is that even a CLEVO manufactured laptop? -
It is not a Clevo indeed. There is not so much information on those chassis, but it is a TongFang GJ5CN5E/6E (other example of that chassi is PCSPECIALIST 15.6" VYPER) . More info of those here. Looks like a new chineese barebone manufacturer is coming!
You better not install such software on not-Clevos since it's messing with EC tables -
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Actually it is not messing with EC at all
It just wont work with non CLEVO models.
But my methods do not overwrite any EC stored data, it just send commands to do actions just like Control Center does. Totally safe, you wont brick ECs with any of my stuff.
Ohhh look here´s what i´m doing now:
Minimal simple CPU tuning options, BUT mostly, the best part of this is that "Restore Factory Defaults" button. It might not seem like much but this method allows resellers like us to have .ini files for any model or cpu and setup them as the default settings instead of relying on CLEVO supplied ones... and even if the user tunes it / change values, they can always go back to the reseller suggested values. THIS.IS.HUGE for us and other resellers.
For advanced users we already added ThrottleStop support tab (which is the option i use, hence the "Do not manage my CPU settings" checkbox), and we can add any other free project if the community wants. We will not distribute anything with the final version package but you will just have to copy it to the same folder for Control Station to detect it and show options for it.TheChosen0ne, optimisez, polosatiy123 and 2 others like this. -
Hi @John@OBSIDIAN-PC, I hope you can implement something like this into power management. I need power saving mode to have the optimal power saving configuration when using battery, normal mode to have the normal daily usage configuration when using power supply and gaming mode to have the optimal gaming performance configuration when using power supply. Maybe this power management mode needs to link to screen brightness, Fan Control, ThrottleStop meaning that when switching power mode it will apply the chosen configuration to Control Station itself and multiple apps configurations.
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Those power modes are crap (excuse my french)....
I´ll make something proper, also, i´m not using Throttlestop for setting the CPU Power so it will not need to link to anything.
I will let users choose to use built in CPU controls / Brightness Controls / etc for each Power Mode or the user can disable power management in Control Station and just use ThrottleStop (like i do since it allows more control).
The only disadvantage of using TS as a power manager is that it only allows you to control CPU stuff and not brightness and such. For me to use TS as a engine to do all the power management things and add my own Brightness/etc at the same time, the developer of TS would have to allow for TS to receive Data to perform actions... -
Ya. I guess the only thing that really working is adjust brightness. lol.
-
Do you mean it will do a backup of your current laptop setting then you can tweak the setting until u screw it up then u can press "Restore Factory Defaults" button to restore back to the backup setting?
-
lol its not clevo? It used to be guess they changed their supplier then sorry for taking your time
) such a good program, too bad
-
John,
Don't know what changed with the new update but it broke my licence file again :-(

I have the same problem as on my 751tm1. What could be the problem?
751tm1, 775dm3 - changes to different modes (also manual) but seems does not change anything
or do I need to unistall al clevo control center softwares?

Basically the app isn't able to monitor values on your system.
That happens because something is blocking the included Open Hardware Monitor.
But don't worry about it, final version should have proper EC monitoring.
Your app files are in C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\
right?
Because i have both those models here and it works just fine... if i was to guess it´s your app path that is wrong

You are a genius, I apologize that I was not paid attention to the path! I will check in the evening again after work!

There is, its at 35, final price will be 40.
But if its too much for you then you should wait, as i said before, if we manage to make deals with other resellers we will try to lower the prices.Boseph McGee likes this. -
Hi @John@OBSIDIAN-PC, how can I enable latest audio driver version for the new driver updater?
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
You cant i removed that, it was breaking lots of systems... not advised at all! -
I really hope you can bring back that feature. Ya before that it keeps breaking that after installing it has no sound but now I think Realtek already fixed it and should be no more issue.
-
I went ahead and purchased it. I did appreciate the free updates with the older tool but I would like to support the development here.
PS - Please let me know when you have fan control working for SLI systems. On your website it said that it was not working. To get the fan control to work, do I need to reinstall CCC with XTU disabled? Currently the best profile I have is the "overclock" profile. -
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Fan Control works with CC and XTU installed, just be sure to leave CC in Automatic fan mode....
Today Progress:
Fan Control Beta is now closed until next update!
Thank you to all the supporters who are already rocking their license, you guys are the best!optimisez likes this. -
How do we get the license? Can't seem to find it.

Will your next update support Dual GPU? I know that is on the todo list.
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Yeap, it actually already controls the second GPU fan but since it only monitors the first GPU your best choice is sync with gpu 1... not ideal.
Its actually easy and fast to add support for the second GPU so i might do that in the next couple of days... its just i dont like working so much time on a single project, i like to jump from one to another so i can clear my head in the middle.
And to be honest i have to focus more time where there is income, i have staff and bills... and between us, FanControl got 3 supporters who bought licenses... so i am starting to doubt about how profitable it will be. -
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
The app itself shows a link for purchase, right?
If not: https://code.obsidian-pc.com/product/fancontrol/ -
No rush. I was going to buy the fan software today along with the updater but wasn't sure if it would break my current fans for GPU2 hence I didn't buy. I wish I did now
