It fails to update for some reason, can you link me the app directly please.
It tried to update, fails, then asks for update again, it's in a loop

later edit : nevermind... it worked

You need to sort why it fails that's not normal.
    The update process is just:
    Kill Fan Control
Extract downloaded zip replacing all files
    Restart fan control

You either have an antivirus software blocking it.
    Missing 7z executable.
Or you are running it from outside c:\program files\LaptopTools\

    That just isn't normal...

Or I forgot to change the version number in the app, hence the loop ...

My never finished updating, the update window stayed there for about 20 mins with no apparent changes so I force closed both it and the main app. When I re-opened it and updated again it went much faster and finished that time.

Great work by the way, thank you for your awesome contributions to making Clevo great again by replacing their crappy software!

Ok, I don't have those long freezes anymore... only some stutters... split of a second stutters... big improvement overall but if you can take out the stutters it will be perfect
    Thank you !

later edit : spoke too soon, it still freezes but a lot less

later edit 2 : it's completely random... at the 5th pass in TSBench it froze frequently
I am sorry... looks like it ran fine for the first run then it went downhill

The upside is that the fans worked properly the whole time !

    Hello guys,

Has anyone else encountered an issue whereby the UUID keeps changing between two values?

On my Q6, the UUID alternates between two values, one (which I believe to be the default) and the other when I change some BIOS settings (a BIOS reset triggers this).

    Is this normal/expected behavior?

And why do some ODMs (Eurocom, in this case) not populate the DMI table with the laptop's serial number? The field is literally absent. Not zeroes, but NIL. Absent.
When I contacted them about this, they said that I'd have to ship my laptop back to them for the serial number field to be populated.

Yeah his issue is the one I had on 1.1.04. It only ever happened on 1.1.04 for me and after manually replacing from 1.1.07 zip link I found in the thread the updates started working again.
I dunno if anything regarding updater was fixed between then but oddly updating only went into a loop for Fan Control and not the other utilities.
Rebooting the PC didn't do anything to fix updating. I never did check if maybe the FanControl exe somehow got marked read-only, but unlikely that was the case.
You can't even run it from outside the C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\ folder so that isn't a reason, and 7z exec is included in the folder (I also have it installed system-wide).
I only have MalwareBytes portable (not running) and Windows Defender background services are disabled entirely so virus scanner isn't an issue.

I think the likely issue was that with the debug code running in 1.1.04, the updater process wasn't able to kill it fully before trying to replace it. Maybe some more checks are needed in the updater program.

And a small issue with Soundblaster (on the P955ER): Using the latest Audio driver (offered by the updater), SBX no longer works.

The error given is: "Your Audio device cannot be detected".

Extremely odd as we use it in our assembly line.
    Will double check tomorrow.
Updater issues are easy / fast to fix ...
Can't say the same for the crippled clevo WMI stuff ... What a mess ...

I have a TB3 dock with a PCI card attached to it. My machine ID changes when it's plugged/unplugged. Certain components on your machine - if you plug/unplug - will cause your machine ID to change.

    (repost from another thread)
Been dealing with the Clevo issue of disabling headphone out after Sleep. (What a PITA) Anyhoo, appears that CCC has a built-in app to re-enable the port, but will only do so on versions that display the Headphone options in CCC. (For me .93 doesn't work, but .80 does)

If you want to uninstall CCC, you could copy the two files needed:

    InitHeadphone.exe
    hp.dll

Just run the exe to enable the headphone port. Make sure the dll is in the same dir, or on path.

John: Can you add something to do this in your Control Center?

I already have those files in the libs dir for future release.
It was reported as a fix already by someone ;)
I will add it as a Windows tunning option.
In today update I also added the disable faststart.

Hey John, I know it's not recommended for use yet, but every time I set Turbo Boost Power in Control Station and apply (or reboot), it gets set back to 1W. Is this a known issue?

That section is way experimental and under development!!! Please do not use it for now... only some CPUs are supported at the moment.
I can make it work actually because i finished my class for that section and should be able to get values/apply them... i´m just not sure i will have the mental strength to do code today... but you can start by telling me:
    A) What is your CPU
    B) What language is your OS ?

Not sure if this was mentioned already, ThrottleStop keeps forgetting where the .ini file is stored.

    System: P650HS-G
    Control System: 0.0.12
    Fan Constrol: 1.1.09

After rebooting, the following problems occure:
    1. Status TS is not running! (as mentioned by Control System)
    2. .ini file needs to be reattached everytime after a reboot (and thus I need to readjust some settings in Throttlestop after reattching also).

Except that, everything is working fine. Keep up the good work!

Not sure how that is even possible.
When you browser a ini file and then click Apply it will simply copy the file to C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\ThrottleStop\ThrottleStop.ini

Are you sure your TS folder is located at C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\ThrottleStop\ ????
Or are you running it from another dir?

ThrottleStop.ini is indeed located where it should be. Yet, when rebooting it Control System keeps forgetting to load the file + does not turn on ThrottleStop.

Control Station does not Starts TS, when you click the "Start ThrottleStop with Windows" it just creates a task for it in Task Scheduler.
You can check your windows Task Scheduler to see if does have that task or not.
If not, untick that option and re-tick, check Task Scheduler again... i will improve that now... i can make it work better ;)

But it does not need to remember where the ini is stored....
That Browser and Apply thing is only to overwrite the .ini
It replaces the throttlestop.ini file with the one you open there... and that´s it, you only use that again if you want to load another .ini file.

    Also:
    Control Station updated to 0.0.13
Added a routine at start to check if TS task does exist or not.
Remember Throttlestop option only show up if you move throttlestop to LaptopTools folder, so the full TS path is C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\ThrottleStop\

    That's not how Windows works.
If it shows Programme it is just an alias.
You should have Programme and Programe(x86), both are the same as Program Files.
Make sure you have everything in:
    C:\Programme\LaptopTools\

I will make some tests in other languages just to be sure

Finally i bought updater (Thx for you job obsidian-pc!) , and then do reinstall "frest windows start" (bsod was so annoing!) , after that installed drivers from obsidian updater. It`s all was good, but i founded:
    1) trottlestop need visual update c++ 2013 x86, without it doesnt work. It`s not obviously, pls add this package at folder with trottlestop or updater. It will be quite comfortable :)
    2) I don`t know why, but undervolting is not saving after restart. I have installed XTU, and control station change CPU core offset volting, but after restart its gone.
    P.s. Latest version 0.0.13.
Bsod errors, what i found, i don`t know why its happended, RAM i checked maybe control station and undervolting. I shall appreciate if somebody can to help.
This was probably caused by the following module: ntkrnlmp.exe (nt!memset+0x7951)

UPD: maybe some kind of bug. Control station , after change some setting and try restart laptop, it`s cant quiet stop and save to restart, but doesnt allow do that and question abount "...are you sure to quit?".

You should not use ThrottleStop and XTU at the same time.
To use XTU please stop ThrottleStop, restart, enter BIOS and load setup defaults.

The other issues with Control Station are temporary, it's under development ;) BETA BETA
Still none of the software should cause BSODs... We keep them running 24/7 and a lot other users here do too... Maybe too much undervolt?

    Yes I will.
I just want a stable Control Station first. Just need to finish the CPU tuning section and some other minor bugs.
After that I will finally dive into the Keyboard LED.

As soon as i REALLY start working on it i will let you all know ;)

    Control Station Updated to 0.0.14

    - Most of the work on this build was for CPU Tuning Tab.
    - For those of you who use XTU instead of any other CPU tuning app you can now try this...
Tell me what works and what does not!
If you been using something like Throttlestop or other i would recommend disabling it first, then install XTU, reboot, go to BIOS, Load Setup Defaults, and voilá...

Thanks for the update. Can i recommend you something? i think that would be better if we can give values manually from click and typing for example undervolt or turboboost.Because was playing with turbo boost value now i cant get it to exact value :D Thanks

Check if it applying the values correctly.
It still needs a lot more work.
Each control has a minimal, maximum, and the number of steps is defined by the multiplier of the specific control... Add that to the fact that I can only use integer numbers to the controls... It's a pain ...
    So much math lol

So, I just checked 'Manage my CPU settings' and I think it now shows all the values correctly, just like I did in XTU.
    Good job!

    Will check it out tonight.

How much work are you going to do for the CPU stuff? Like will you provide pre-configured profiles for different CPU models like you did for ThrottleStop when we bought Updater v1? This would be a great baseline for newbies like me :)

The only way for that to happen is the image files for those "on and off" icons are missing.
Be sure you have the everything in C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\

So control station needs to be at C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\ControlStation.exe

HUGE Control Station update to 0.0.15

We are very close to the first stable release of Control Station....

In this version the CPU Tuning tab is now done (some more testing should be done...)
    Let me explain again:
IF you want to use the CPU tuning you need to install XTU, dont worry about background services since we are not allowing it to run (click prevent background XTU services option)
IF your system is not applying values, chances are you are using another app like TS, if you want to try this included method, stop TS, reboot, Load Setup defaults, voila should work now.

    New button "recommended"

That recommended button is like a preset with our recommended values.
We do them according to our internal testing and they are designed to allow the use of the laptop without thermal throttle.
Best performance possible without thermal throttle.
We did this because on some units we usually tune it to get better performance / less heat, on others, unfortunately we have to reduce performance.

Each CPU Version will have its file, so you can load our recommended settings, BUT, if you do not like it, just tune it manually. Your laptop, your choice!

Resellers that been making deals to get our software will be able to do this to pre-tune their laptops to their recommended settings instead of just taking whatever CLEVO forces... there was a time where we wanted to go above stock powers/performance, but now with 8th gen you probably just want to get a set of settings that just work without crazy throttle!

This is useful for less experienced users as you may have guessed!

In the future each CPU will have up to 4 profiles, something like: Max Performance / Gaming / Silent / Battery.
Those will be the "Power Modes", that not only will have CPU settings but also other power managing options.

Please give us time to create profiles for all CPUs, i only added 7700K and 7700HQ at the moment (my personal units).

As always the full package version is available here: http://obsidian-pc.com/LaptopToolsFull.zip

    Have fun!

    Whats next for Control Station?
    - Critical Performance Mode:

For gaming or critical real/time tasks, it will allow you to with a single click of a button have a preset (tuned by YOU) to do / or not do / stuff like:
    - Disable all value pooling
    - Keep Fans at X speed, only go up if above X (activate max fan then)
    - Disable unneeded hardware (LAN/WIFI/TOUCHPAD/ETC - your choice)
    - Set CPU profile to X
    - Fix NVIDIA power mode at X to prevent NVIDIA DPC spikes
    ... and much more

    - General Usage Modes:

    - Battery / Gaming / Max Power / Silent - something like that, with some options

And remember... control station is free!!!
I will now take a pause on this, will only update with critical fixes... time to FINALLY dive into the KeyboardLed thing...
