I would like to point out that the biggest advantage of our software is the fact that we can fix reported bugs ASAP!!
At least those which are possible to solve with my current testing hardware... other bugs might require me to get other units and those fixes might take additional time to get pushed.

Its the app in main development at the moment, everything else we are just doing bug fixes and small improvements that we find needed as we use them in our production units.

But why??? Those are just settings to make them NOT throttle on the weakest cooling unit (P950) :p And its something made for users who DO NOT know how to tune it, more like a "easy start point".
You should be able to manually tune it to the max with very little trouble. Use AIDA Extreme Stability Test and go step by step!

    @ John@OBSIDIAN-PC
Yo John, is the updater 100% reliable on bios updates?
I have a P650HP and it says there is a new version available (1.05.11) while I have the 1.05.06 although I cannot see the new version on the BIOS development page of Obsidian website. Is that because there is no changelog?

Hi john. the latest update broke the max fan settings for both of my devices. it does nothing.
the 3 sec. security setting delay seems to be enough tho :)

So i´m guessing you have an OBSIDIAN-PC laptop is that it? Or at least you already had our BIOS... in that case, you should update!

Where does this detect the CPU temp from, as it doesn't seem to match any of the cores or package power in other monitoring programs, eg all my cores were 80+ but Fan Control was showing as 75, then slowly caught up to 80 by that point package power was already 86... just wondering as this could potentially overheat the CPU?

    That's the EC reported temperature.
Should be fine, it's the same the laptop uses for automatic fan profile.
Also sometimes the UI might get stuck not updating values but the engine thread is updated since it's a highest priority thread.

That section needs improvement to make it more easy to understand.
But first you need to pass all security checks only after it passes you will able to download / flash.

Wifi Off is basically turning Airplane mode on.
If you indeed have the airplane driver installed you might need a BIOS update. If you turn Airplane mode ON with keyboard shortcut FN+F11 does it work?
I should release a BIOS update for your model today ;)

You can't really adjust the bins on the locked units, so there's no real point as far as I know.

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

How long should it take to carry out the BIOS update? Because as soon as it finished downloading the updater app started loading but right now it has been loading for almost 10 minutes already.

The laptop did not freeze or anything but if I mouse hover over the updater app it still shows the loading circle instead of mouse icon and nothing is happening. The updater app is still working though as I see cpu usage from task manager.

Last time I did a bios update from the obsidian-tools suite it didn't look this long.

EDIT: still loading. More than 20 minutes now
EDIT2: more than 40 minutes now. I guess something went wrong, but should i kill the process from task manager and restart it?

Are you really running the latest Updater?
Do not worry, it wont damage anything, as soon as it is ACTUALLY flashing you will notice ;)
kill it, check inside Updater folder, delete the BIOS folder if present, if not just restart laptop and try again.
    Tell me how it goes.
The first stage of a BIOS update is restarting to unlock ME region, so that can never brick you unit... it´s just lame that sometimes for some unknown reason the MESET does not work under windows... very rare to be honest.

Ok will do it and update you.

Yes, the updater version is the latest, I checked before starting the whole process. And the MESET is actually still working and heating some cpu but I guess it's hanging for no reason. Will do everything and report back.

    EDIT:
    1) deleted bios folder and restarted the flashing process
    2) stage 1 was ok as laptop restarted instantly
    3) stage 2 looked ok as ECWinFlash started the flashing
    4) ECWinFlash has been hanging at 30% cpu for the past 10-15 minutes, laptop is not frozen but while the mouse works, the keyboard doesn't. The flashing information seems stuck at "verify" in the ReFlash stage, the earlier stages of ECWinFlash went really fast.

    EDIT2:
    5) it now finished after 45 minutes or so
    6) it said laptop would shutdown but it is not shutting down.

    EDIT3:
    7) still waiting, now everything but the mouse looks frozen :D
    8) after 10 minutes mouse is gone too :D

I guess i will have to force a shut down right?

Usually a ECFlash is almost instant... that is really weird.
Please force it to restart since it says it ended / verified.

PS. If you bricked your unit i will personally collect it and repair it for free!!!
I might just found the most stupid and dangerous thing done by CLEVO that can undermine flashing the EC in Windows! I just killed my P775DM3 ...
Holly **** these guys really need to hire someone to proper do a EC API dll... this could all be so easy and safe!
Nevertheless i patched my Updater program against this just now...

Actually the laptop might be bricked. It's so frozen that I can't even remove battery. Hope it's not could it would be soooo annoying for me since I would miss many software etc if I had to switch back to old laptop.

Anyway i will now open and remove battery.

PS: by the way i think this is the second or third bios update on the laptop and everything was fine when running obsidian tools suite. It was still using EC flash if I remember correctly

We did it boys! It's alive .

    Updater also shows BIOS 1.05.11

I guess yours might be safe too then. This whole thing was super weird but you know s*it happens and I still think you guys are awesome :D (and I also would even with a bricked laptop)

...I will now reput the battery back in and put the backplate together. Actually, It's really such a nice laptop that a transparent backplate would be tremendously nice. :D

I was eating lunch and was so pissed at this... let me be totally open with everyone.

The way CLEVO talks to EC with Control Center is through a dll called CLEVOMOF.dll
Little me was under the false assumption that this my EC Windows Flasher would not be influenced by any software talking to EC because it would lock it for flash. The ITE EC Windows flash is a tool provided by CLEVO (or the chip manufacturer) that i been using for years without a single brick!

Now... apparently it seems it´s not like i thought.... if you have other running apps talking with EC using the CLEVOMOF it will make a mess and the EC Flasher might not flash properly / brick.

So the safe way to do this is just adding code in my Updater tool to kill any CLEVOMOF activity before flashing the EC...

Now let´s inspect the CLEVOMOF that CLEVO uses in their CONTROL CENTER... is it really that safer then the ECViewer hack that some other apps use? Well probably... but it still SUCKS!

CLEVOMOF apparently uses ACPI for it´s calls, causing this HUGE DPC spikes in the ACPI driver. So all of you who use Control Center 1 or probably worse the 2.0 version should be greatly affected by this.

And as you may have guessed so does Fan Control... it increases DPC to around 1000, which is not that bad for regular users, heck NVIDIA drivers cause the same when they are doing anything related to power profiles, but for me it is still a poor and lazy implementation.

    So what to do?

    A) I´m writing an extensive doc for CLEVO to show them what´s wrong, and how it should be solved
    B) I will try to write my own EC access library which should NOT use ACPI and lag the system
    C) I removed any looping read/write from EC from Control Station, it will only read at start.
    D) Regarding the dangers of BIOS flashing i will try my best to write a free ideal BIOS/EC tool and share it with everyone, end user or reseller...

Yeah but since my suite uses the same CLEVOMOF dll it will still cause problems. Well it used to, i have now solved it. But still... i think its time to make a proper flasher for everyone...

I'm wondering. Is the CPU tweak via your suite now fully stable and functional? I mean could I tweak the power limit with your suite and still use throttlestop for more advanced settings?

Because I remember that XTU was the only thing able to unlock power throttling allowing me to get higher OCs. "Unfortunately" CAE software in general are highly optimized and I get power throttle at 3.7 - 3.8 ghz already even though I'm undervolted (-110 or -120 mV i think)

If you are already using TS then keep using the Control Station suite even got minimal support for it. It´s far more advanced then using a XTU GUI like the one in the CPU Tuning TAB.
Still, if you want to try it out, please disable TS, reboot, enter BIOS, Load Setup defaults, and now test my solution.

    Control Station updated to 0.0.22
    - 6700K support
    - Remote Control app (which can be found in the Support tab) was updated to match new app styles and x64 binary

Ok, so I guess it's better not to do that.

I would need TS + your solution. This is because I cannot override power limits from BIOS nor TS. Only XTU could override those limits and thus I was wondering if I could get the perfect overclocking environment with TS + your solution.

Usually XTU goes kinda crazy when I use TS at the same time. But maybe it will behave different in your case. Give it a go.
You can always uninstall XTU / Load BIOS setup defaults later!

Just release a new BIOS for your model. Please try it out and let me know if it fixed that.

    Keyboard LED updated to 0.0.02

    - Just a small update so that the app can auto update like the rest of the bunch
    - Added color overlay in the keyboard images to match the selected color
    - Improved Resume detection to re-apply colors (please report)

You need to manually download it from here: http://obsidian-pc.com/KeyboardLED.zip

I just may have bricked my machine. After a successful flash the system went down, but all the lights are still on. Laptop is completely unresponsive. Should i remove the battery?

    EDIT:
The machine is getting warmer by the minute, even with everything unplugged.

    EDIT2:
After removing the battery and reinstalling it, laptop boots fine until OS. Phew.
