    Dear John,

    Short version:
Bug found in the latest version of KeyboardLED 0.0.5

    Long version:
I've ticked the Auto Dim feature and initially was the 5 seconds selected in the drop down box. All went well in the 5 seconds the keyboard leds were off. After that I've chosen the 10 minutes from the drop down and the leds went off in 5 seconds... NOT 10 minutes... So I figure out that you need to tick the "Auto Dim" to disable and then to reenable the feature so the app will take the new value selected from the drop down menu, those "10 minutes" in my case.

What I would have liked :
    - a more smooth fading out of the led lighting... it will look a lot more cool
    - dimming leds to 10 or 20% instead of 0% as an option ... maybe in the future?

    Thank you !

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC just a small bug in the KeyboardLed app... not sure if easy to work around, but when auto dimming is enabled, the keyboard is lit up again even if using an external keyboard. I don't think CCC behaved this way, it would only light up if you actually used the laptop keyboard.

Thanks for reporting, that should be easy to fix.

That´s just how Windows API is... not sure if it is possible to fix.

Are you running a fully registered version of Fan Control ? It is needed for that mode to work...

Yeah sorry, otherwise I would have to double the values pooling, that would be a major problem...
I want everything as efficient and high performing as possible!

Also to anyone interested, I just finished improving the DPI scalling function, will start releasing updates for all apps tomorrow!

    Hi John,

Just a quick one. Does the keyboard app auto update every version revision. Although all my other apps fan control etc are updated it seems i may still be on an early version of the keyboard app

Is it a seperate download ?

    Thanks

    John,

Sorry one more thing. I've kind of been burying it and ignoring it.

What is your recommendation reference the Control centre/flexi key program. I still have it running in the background and have throughout. Is it recommended to fully uninstall it ?

    Thanks again.

I have simply deactivated all the CCC related apps from startup, services, and task scheduler (gamefeet, flexikey, hotkey tray, powerbiosserver etc). I don't think it is necessary to fully uninstall as long as nothing runs at startup. Once all the Obsidian apps are bug free and full release versions I will probably uninstall CCC then.

Updated keyboard LED. When I am in 3-zone mode, if I set the colour for one zone (let's say left) to quick colour (I chose white) then apply, it works. If I try the other two zones, it will not. It opens on the last known value but even if I click "white" from the quick colour drop down or click the hex code and apply, nothing happens. I have to "copy colour" then "paste colour" and apply for it to light.

Also, is it possible to make auto-dim only work when the system is receiving no input? For example I could use my mouse and auto-dim would keep the keyboard off. But touching even my external keyboard makes it light back up. For controller-playing games it's useful that it remains on even when not specifically using a keyboard.

Awesome. Now seems like before login to windows, keyboard led won't turn on itself anymore after using Keyboard LED app to disable backlight status.

Only works on reboot. If you do a cold boot, keyboard LED needs to start up to change the colour.

@john Fancontrol: Automatic/EC mode doesnt seems to use the GPU fans properly. Overall it seems way less agressive as it used to be.

Keyboard LED: CPU Load used for the right and left panels. left one is greenish, right one blueish. shouldnt they have the same color?

When you select automatic EC it's the motherboard controlling the fans, basically the fan control software isn't doing anything. So that's not something related to fan control.

I will test both left and right zones with CPU Load and report back...

I just wanted to follow-up on keyboard LED. Is it technically possible to support mixed configurations (e.g. have one zone reactive and others fixed)?

At the moment it is not possible... in the future i guess i can add that option by allowing a "none" in the drop down.

    Control Station Updated to 1.0.0
    - Ui changes, new Checkboxes and fadders design
    - Improved Scalling code
    - Added option to Disable Volume Sync - Temporary fix for user reporting external BT devices being muted

Control Station seems to have lots of vertical space between the icons and the tab row on my 125% scaled 4k panel.

hummm... have you tried resizing the window?
    Bottom right corner.
Also did you just set that scalling or did Windows already booted at 125%? Other wise you need to terminate your session and log back in... that´s just how windows works.

i like it, i don't use my nb often anymore but just tried the "freeware" but this thing works flawless on my p775dm3-g, just have to make sure it's like "high performance mode" in CCC, cause back then i noticed in benchies that "entertainment" lowered my gpu scores about 10-15 % in firestrike and games.

Resizing is fine. The session was unchanged from previous runs - I tend to sleep the machine and it has always run at 125% scaling.

I guess the tool is picking up some odd prefs values and using those, causing the larger window. Resizing, closing and re-launching, the panel is compact again.

The app always saves geometry and state on exit, probably had a saved geometry from the previous version which does not match the new Scalling code ;)

    Is it an official release?

Checked the first thread and it still says BETA so just making sure.

I would love to Uninstall the CCC and replace with this but not sure if any of my FN + 1 keys and such will still work or if the fan speed is ramping up correctly.

Fn + 1 works without control center.
Having control center installed is irrelevant for fan behaviour... It's the EC firmware (motherboard) that controls it.
If in the future you want a finer control we have our fan control software that allows you to achieve it.

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC
Don't know about other users but while I love dark themes, I feel like there is not much contrast between the tab sections and the background.
It's all ok and easy to understand but that low contrast between different sections makes it confusing at first glance. Before you focus and start reading it feels like it's a whole single block of settings, similarly to a wall of text.

    What you think?

Maybe a total black background would be better? Or tab sections a little lighter? Or maybe it's just me :D

Initially, in the screen I was working with it had a good contrast, but I recently changed to a higher resolution LCD (professional BenQ line) and in this new one I feel the same...
So yeah I was going to change that already.

Today we released updates for all apps:

    What´s new?
    - We are making some experiences with higher contrast colors, this should not be the final version as i am still not 100% happy with it and i want to test it on different screens.

    - All apps are now digital signed with a COMODO SHA256 digital cert, this investment assures more security for our users and should prevent anti-virus software to delete files, oh... and no more ugly MS message saying the software might not be secure.

We also made a full installer for everything, it DOES NOT replace settings so i would recommend everyone to run it to be 100% everything is fine!
    - Close all apps before running it
    - Click ignore if any error shows up, it just means you already have the file and it´s being used, that´s fine
    - The installer does not create garbage, it just adds Start Menu entries and a uninstall option

    Download Link:
    https://www.obsidian-pc.com/files/LaptopToolsSetup.exe

Have fun and thank you for your support!

The updater asks if I want to install into "\Laptop Tools" - with a space and an incomplete path - which is confusing since it correctly installs into "C:\Program Files\LaptopTools". Would be better to provide the full, accurate path on that prompt.

The installer wiped out all of my custom colors and icons in the branding folder for all of the apps.

The installer also changed the Brightness Level in Keyboard LED from 100% to 0%.

That's not the install path, that's the start menu entry name...
I'm going remove that since it makes no sense...

Yeah branding gets replaced, a lot of users missing files there.

As for KeyboardLED it should not happen... Weird, I'll check.

The installer splash screen mentions Remote Control, but no icon for this app is included in the Laptop Tools start menu folder. It does install in the LaptopTools folder, but...
