That's a very secundary and unfinished app, it should be open from Control Station support tab...

    Hi John,

Just got bluescreen of death 'Windows kernal security panic failure' - something like that. Was just typing some assignment stuff up for work on Microsoft Word. System wasn't doing anything strenuous at the time.

I remember your old drivers updater app had a blue screen fix button. Not sure if it was for my problem or not.

Could this be added in as an option again.

    regards

    Chris (UK)

That fix was for hotkey filter that is used by Control Center...
If you are using our software you should NOT be using Control Center at the same time, it defeats it´s purpose.
Either way, that error was not caused by our software neither was it caused by Control Center, that´s something else that you should find out... i have no idea what it is to be honest.

I checked the screenshots next to my current models, I like the slight change. But then I saw a little discrepancy here, maybe can fix in next update?

It´s been out for purchase for a long time :D

The top urgent things missing are:
    - Control Station - Switch for DISCRETE / MSHYBRID
    - Keyboard LED - Change Cover LID / P751 front stripe color

    Those should come soon enough!

Everything looks really good on my screen.

My only comment would be how dark the keyboard color representations look on Zone tabs of the Keyboard LED utility. I have bright red & blue currently set, but they appear in the utility as deep/dark red and blue - not even close to the actual colors selected. When similar colors are chosen, they can be difficult/impossible to distinguish in the utility when the brightness is set to less than 100%. Not critical by any means, but a brighter (more accurate) representation of the actual colors chosen would be helpful at some point. After that all-important Top Case Logo LED Zone gets added... :p

Well we also sell that model and we are shipping it with KeyboardLED... Works great.
You either have some special keyboard or something is wrong with your windows install.
Something is blocking KeyboardLED maybe... All software is now signed so it should not be blocked.

Hello John, is there a difference between the control station updater and the Obsidian tools? I got a license for the Obsidian tools for the laptop driver update.
Is the Obsidian tools will still be updated?
The new control station has 2 paid options: Updater and Fan control, is the Keyboard Free?
    Thanks always for your development.

The OBSIDIANTOOLS License (paid version) can be used to activate Updater.
Just copy the license file to C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\

Both Control Station and KeyboardLED are free! No license needed!

I found a funny little quirk regarding how the various modules interact with Windows 10. I noticed that Fan Control wasn't starting up automatically when I checked the 'start app with Windows' box, so I did it via Task Scheduler instead. Well, upon restart I noticed that it started a completely new instance of Fan Control that was unregistered and didn't have my previously-saved fan curves. The UI was also missing the minimize and close buttons in the top right corner. But if I were to exit that instance and restart the module, it would then go back to the previous instance with all my saved variables and registration. The same was true for Updater. They're not starting from different locations either - both the Task Scheduler and the shortcut I use are addressed to the exact same .exe in the LaptopTools folder. I tried the Task Scheduler instance of KeyboardLED in hopes that that would magically make it work on my system, but sadly, it was as dead as it always has been on my system.

If you are manually creating the tasks then you are doing it wrong.

Have you installed the software with the setup file?

Add the apps to startup by using the options in the app.

We have this running in at least 300 laptops, everything been solid. Something is up with your install.

When icons do not show, like the close button it's like the app is being run from a different directory. So something is off with your install.

For the last several updates the free beta version of Fan Control is showing 'disabled until the next update'. Is this correct or is there something wrong at my end? I must admit I am not following this thread religiously nor updating very frequently.

EDIT - my bad - now downloading LaptopToolsSetup.exe Will revert if issue persists.

The Fan Control beta is closed at the moment, only works for users with purchased license.
We will open beta testing when the next big update is ready.

Because things weren't taking properly, and Keyboard LED never worked, I removed the whole 'LaptopTools' folder and reinstalled using the installer that your signature links to. That didn't change anything, and that's when I went the Task Scheduler route and the anomaly described above started. So I don't know if there are files anywhere else that have carried over between my various attempts. I'm under the impression that things are all self-contained in the LaptopTools folder. No shortcuts or startup routines have ever linked to any other path other than C:\Program Files\LaptopTools\ as far as I have been able to tell.

    Dear John,

I have the latest KeyboardLED installed, v 0.1.2 and when my computer boots up the keyboard areas are flickering fast for a second before settling to all white (all 3 zones) and 30% brightness... that flickering is really annoying.
Can you please do something about it because it wasn't always there.

    Thank you !

I am sorry man I did not think it was intentional.
I am one of those guys that are too old for flickering keyboard lights, I like simple things... so all white and no animations for me :p

I was wrong about the installer changing the brightness. It was me selecting the Auto Dim option...

Having said that, I would really like to see a slider bar for the Auto Dim so I can choose something other than 0% (like 25%), so the keyboard is truly dimmed, and not totally dark. Thanks!

Yeah I know you were wrong!
I double checked. I never make mistakes, it's not me, all bugs are actually caused by the MSVS2017 C++ compiler...
Please always blame Microsoft, never me! Let's all agree on that.

Hey John my P670HS-G Obsidian says there is a BIOS update ready in the Updater Tools I used from your sig, I have updated through your tool before on the BIOS, well I removed the battery to save on weight, left it in America, I am in Ireland at the moment as I use my laptop in a desktop way, just traveling a lot no need for battery, well the check security says I have no power cause its misreading the battery no being installed... anyway I can still update the BIOS or just out of luck? I am currently on the BIOS ending in 11 or something and the new one ends in 14.

Is it possible for the keyboard lights to be triggered with mouse activity (I use an external trackball rather than the trackpad, but noticed the trackpad also doesn't cause the lights to come on)?

    Hello, John!

I was interested in the tool You created, and I wanted to know, where exactly are the drivers coming from? Is it just usual Clevo drivers or modified from other vendors? Also, do You provide updates on CCC? Because, the latest one (ends on 88), causes problems with XTU driver connecting to CPU in my case. Thank You for the answer.

    Hello

We get our drivers from a series of different websites.
We have our bookmarks for known manufacturers like Intel, Realtek, NVIDIA, etc, but we also check CLEVO website and other website.
We then test the driver and then release it.
We do not include CCC anymore because it caused us a lot of problems in the past, that´s why we made Control Station and KeyboardLED, to be able to replace CCC.

    Hello John,

Quick question for you. I have paid for the Updater but would like to buy the Fan control / LED control software.

Is there a "one stop shop" solution you have where all of this stuff is integrated?

Do I need to delete my existing Updater and download which software?

Always willing to support a fellow developer and their hard work :)

For install use the setup file which will install everything.

For license purchase use the link in each app (there's a button for purchase).

    Which is the link?

There are 3, the Updater "I already have this and want to replace it with the All in one".

Then there is a Fan Control link

Then there is a Control Station link

Then there is a Keyboard LED link.

Can you be more explicit please?

I just wanted to let you know I purchased the product and messing around with it a bit.

First thing I tested was ensuring it all started with windows, and sadly after enabling the options in the GUI it does not.

Once in windows I waited and nothing showed in the system tray. It was not until I actually "launched the software" ControlStation.exe that everything then showed up in the system tray.

    EDIT:

Also wanted to add it appears to be a very good application so far, so good work :)

I actually have been testing it out now that I am home and loaded up a game "Monster Hunter" and have been watching the temps and messing with the fan values and its actually controlling it correctly.

I am very happy to have a custom fan controller that actually works and is easily adjustable.

    Great job :)

    John,

Might I suggest adding tool tips to the system tray icons on mouse over or on click?

For new users and for general intuitiveness it just makes sense to have tooltips for these different icons.

    Dear John,

    About the KeyboardLED...

    Short story:
I found another...umm... how shall I call it, it's not really a bug but the behavior is not what you normally expect in my opinion.

    Long Story :
I have my keyboard set to turn the led off in 10 minutes and it does that... after another 10 minutes computer goes to sleep because I am away... when I get back I click my mouse, the computer wakes up, the keyboards leds play the flashing game for a second but after that they keyboard backlit is off and this is the point where you normally expect to be ON. If I touch a key leds are alive again. I do get it that they revert to the state that they were before the computer went to sleep (in my case were off) but I think this has to be corrected. What do you think?

    Thank you once again !

That's normal behavior. Mouse waking system does not reset the kb led sleep timer. It's a separate entity.
