Hummm I wonder if the crash users are reporting is related to audio.
Can you guys set audio to 0 and then mute (windows controls) and then start control station.

Doing that: Setting audio do 0 and starting Control Station causes it not to open!

Mine did that and now won't open at all lol

Edit: After running the updater and changing the work.ini with controlstation=false to true it opens Control Center normally

So the problem might be the new method for getting Volume.
Monday I'll be back on it.

I just figured out an issue that has been causing me grief since I bought the control station tool! I'm sure John has been scratching his head trying to help me and wondering why only I was having odd issues. I'm posting this here in case it helps anyone else, and to help John know of one more thing for his troubleshooting arsenal.

The symptoms were that updates didn't seem to work, and the GUI for especially the fan control was messed up the first launch, then when I closed it and restated it, it would work fine then. The colors were messed up, and you couldn't see things like the minimize/max/close buttons. It has been like this for a long while, never wavered or changed after any re-installs or updates.

An update about a week ago made things even worse and I started having problems with all of the programs. I'd deleted the folder and reinstalled many times and never changed anything.

Well, the culprit was that I still had a manually created task scheduler start for the fan control from way back when it was its own thing and before autostart with windows was working. So the fan control was starting before anything else, and had two entries with the "good" one in there too, and somehow that was causing the problems. All I did was delete the duplicate task scheduler entry for fan control and now everything works properly. All programs start up and work normally, and the one update I did worked great too. Several reboots later to verify and I'm convinced that was the issue.

Confirmed here. If I have my default device set to Realtek (regardless of volume etc.) it will startup. If I set my default device to my headset for example, it will crash on start.

I'll PM you a crash dump.

Got Control Center to not shut down. Apparently the app does not like having an USB Soundcard plugged in. (Creative X-Fi USB HD)

I can confirm I am getting this crash as well on my P870DM3
USB headset selected = crash (icon disappears from tray after approx 2 seconds; I have it set to start minimised)

Control Station starts as normal with all other present devices selected for output:
    Default Speakers via Realtek Hi-Def
Optical Out via Realtek Hi-Def (nothing attached)
Integrated speakers on external monitor connected via miniDP-out

Did you try putting in your unique order number for fan control by any chance? The order # for the updater should be different from that of fan control even if you bought both at the same time under one purchase.

    updater1-1.jpg updater2.jpg updater3.jpg updater_branding2.jpg
Sure, going off of what John has uploaded on his website as a part of his web design marketing, by happenstance he has your same model. So, if he selected the right model at the time it would be - N850EP6 & N870EP6.

I'm wondering if any of you can help me with this issue:

I've noticed that when CCC is not installed and I use FN ->F2 to turn off the display, it doesn't come on until a key on the keyboard is pressed. Not even when I remote into the system. I like this. Sadly, that function is borked when CCC is installed. The display turns on when the system is remoted into or even if the touchpad is swiped.

I've also come to realize that I need CCC if I want to adjust the display brightness while MSHybrid is enabled (otherwise it's always at full brightness). And since it's not looking like I'm going to get any functioning keyboard LED customization outside of CCC, that's yet another reason to keep it around.

My question is: are any of you aware of any way to have the display not activate when I remote into the system using the FN->F2 deactivation method prior, even when CCC is installed?

I would be so happy if I could have it that way while still enjoying full functionality.

    Thanks!

You can try disabling the display entirely. This kind of feature is generally set so people can't black out their display and not get it back on without an external monitor.

    Hey,

I just stumbled across this threat and this software which I could rly need. Well I bought 3y ago a XMG u705 also known as Clevo P770ZM-G / Sager NP9773 as your software tells me (Schenker says it is a P771ZM). However I just want to know if your software or rather the updater and fan controll support supports this model, because obviously I do not want to waste my money. ;)

Cheers a friendly Hamster called Logan

I´m working on the brightness thing as we speak and also the MSHybrid/DISCRETE switch.
There is Keyboard LED customization, it´s included in the same package, we call it KeyboardLED, is it not working for you?

Sorry the P770ZM-G is not supported by the updater software.
Control Station / KeyboardLED and Fan Control should be compatible.

Thanks for your answer, is their any chance that it will be supported in the (near) future?

Oh and btw why is the fan controlling tool so expensive, I mean I do not understand why it costs 40€?

Probably because it is a specialized suite of applications for a specific brand of laptops targeted to specific users who want enhanced control of their laptops.

Look at it this way, how much did you pay for your laptop? The cost of the suite of software is a fraction of the cost of your laptop and two of the excellent and ever expanding programs are free.

You can always use Clevo's program if you want.

Yeah, I reported KeyboardLED not working on my PA71ES-G a few weeks ago. Both vIkInG_w0w and I have the same issue on our identical models. You then mentioned that your place ships that same model and that KeyboardLED doesn’t have any issues on those units. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling with CCC and without CCC. Regardless if you ever find the culprit or not, I sure appreciate all your hard work. My Clevo system would be a far more frustrating experience without Obsidian software on it (mainly fan control). Thank you.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that some resellers seem to be offering Keyboard with RGB per Key options. If that´s your case you should see the option to change colors per key in Control Center.
Can you check if that is your case and report back?

    Im having an issue.

I dont like realtek drivers, for numerous reasons, so i uninstalled them and im using the windows default drivers (high definition audio device).

With clevo control center i wouldnt have the headphones bug when hibernating, whereas i do with obsidian control station (even with apply headphone fix on start ticked).

Is the audio fix easily added to support the windows drivers or should i just install the realtek ones? i rather have realtek drivers than clevo control center..

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

Thanks for the quick fix to the Control Center :)
I guess you didn't notice my other question, so I'll ask again.

Is there a way to disable the glowing lights at the front of the Chassis using the Laptop Tools or the Obsidian BIOS or do I have to install Clevo Control Center for that ?

Note: On CCC, Fn + Num* was the shortcut I used to turn off all lighting, which also turned off the lights on the chassis.

To answer your question: Currently, no - there is no feature available for altering your lid/stripe lighting or for the function keys that accompany those features and even the already included KBLED features. In the near future, yes - those that you mentioned are on John's shortlist. If you want to install Flexikey/CCC for those features in the meantime, I'd suggest you do so as Obsidian's BIOS isn't pertinent.

Windows default drivers are still Realtek drivers, they push it on update.
You should be better off using a stack that works. For what users report, the driver we are pushing + headphone fix does indeed fix the headphones bug, please try it and let me know how it goes.

Ahhhh i did not have opportunity to test that type of keyboard, probably gonna take a while till i can.

Heck, for some reason my notifications for updates on this thread are off even though im "watching" it.

Well. that's gives me some peace of mind to know that the per-key-RGB keyboard isn't supported yet!.
Just out of curiosity, shouldn't the Single Zone Fixed work regardless of per-key-RGB or not? Or do you have to edit code for each different type of RGB keyboards?

per-key instructions seem to be totally different, i would have to get one myself for testing and understanding the convertion method used.
Current Keyboard RGB instructions are ZONE(LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT) + RGB code sent in a uint32.

Per-key could for instance use the "zone" to identify each key instead of only 3 zones... but i can´t tell without testing.

Still.... sending each key in a post... ouch... thats a whole lotta stuff.

It's probably the case. The "zone" part supports values from 0 to 255, so probably the method is the same.

Two major things missing at the moment:
    - Mshybrid / Discrete switch in Control Station
    - Mshybrid mode brightness bug

One major upgrade missing for Fancontrol to fix high DPC

And then I should be free.

Please understand KeyboardLED is something I mostly do at home, for free... And these days when I get home I just want to roll myself in a blanket and sleep. Not the happy of times tbh, I'm so exhausted...
Hopefully I'll find some motivation soon and get some rest (not sure in which order).

Sure thing, it is not expensive in comparison, even though I did not pay anything for the Laptop. I used the money I got for it via my state funded study loan, which I do not have to pay back. :p
I still am but just wondering why such a simply software is more expensive than an Updating software, which is way more complex to do when you take in consideration that you have to do the whole server stuff, too.
And Clevo's Programms (and drivers) are horrible and more or less incompatible with the current Windows 10 build, well what to expect from a greedy Taiwanese company. ' :D

So I still hope that this Laptop model the P770ZM and P770ZM-G will get support from the Updater, until then I am unfortunately forced to use the drivers provided by Clevo and update those. :/

Well unfortunately your store tells me, that the coupon limit has been reached. ;(
    But thanks anyway.

Wee question, in Fan Control, manual mode, is 100% on the sliders the same as cpu max fans security in terms of speed of fan?

As I’m having an issue with fan control sensing max temp at around 73 deg when in fact hw monitor is telling me 90 I would prefer it if either fan controls temp sensors were fixed or the min temp for max fans security was lowered somewhat...if poss...wee thing.

So, if you install Obsidian control station and fan control, but not keyboard led control, the keyboard is always lit white, yes?

Fan Control allows you to use other CPU temp engines like core temp and open hardware monitor, have you tried them? In fact by doing so you get better performance.

Yeah open hardware monitor doesn’t seem to want to give me temps. Maybe because of my 8086? Maybe I’m doing it wrong. I will look at core temp. That way I’ll get more sliders to control the ramp up and yes better performance. All good. Will try that...

Now I kind of feel bad about wanting a basic update to KeyboardLED as much as I do. But please understand that when CCC is completely removed as recommended when using the full set of utilities that you offer, that the simple on/off control of the Top Case Logo LED is sacrificed. Mine has been lit ever since removing CCC two and a half months ago... At times, it is more than a little distracting. I can wait much longer for any 'cool' or 'fun' schemes or controls or whatever other wiz-bang stuff you want to eventually integrate into the KeyboardLED utility (take your time and get some rest!), if I could only turn off the LED's that I don't want on. That simple additional zone/feature alone would make me 100% happy with getting rid of CCC when I did, and with the suite of utilities that I paid for back then to replace the often dysfunctional Clevo offering. And I know several others have posted here as well wanting the same ability to turn off / control more than just the keyboard's LED's.

Thanks again for all your hard work, John! Each day it is with eager anticipation that I check this thread to see what is being worked on. Hopefully, this one small feature can be prioritized just a little bit higher, as your time allows of course. Much appreciated!

Hi guys, I've bought your updater and the fan monitor (which works very well!) I have a question, is the P671-rg supported under a different model name?

When you bought the Updater which model did you select?
The most similar model is P670RP.

I would also like to point out to everyone that if you laptop is at least 6th gen then the only driver that might be different is actually the Audio/Sbx drivers...
