    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

I've noticed on FanControl that GPU load is shown on the dynamic bar under the GPU temp, however, on the Information tab, the Max Value: GPU Load is reporting 0C instead of some %.

UPDATE: Apparently fixed in 2.2.4. Thx John :)

Hi, does this support the Metabox P650HS-G? I have downloaded the software but it is just stuck on getting installed driver information.

    UPDATER (2.5.1)

I've had problems before with Windows updating the realtek driver and messing up my sound so I reverted back to my factory drivers which work perfect. I've disabled windows update automatic driver updates. However, after two BSODs in a short period due to my audio driver I tried to update my realtek driver and soundblaster software through the update utility. It didn't work. Whatever I tried (and I've tried a lot) either the soundblaster suite didn't recognize my device and/or the sound remained of a very bad quality.

My current realtek driver is .8270, the one in the updater is .8591.
My current soundblaster software is 2.1.5.0 which is apparently 'ahead' of the updater's 2.0.0.30

Also I'm having trouble updating the VGA driver from .1634 to .1917 . I've hold off updating for now since the current driver is working perfectly and performance isn't a problem.

Finally my Intel chipset (15.9.0.1015) and ME (1828.12.0.1152) are apparently 'ahead' of the updater's respective 10.1.1.45 and 11.7.0.157 although I never manually updated them. Don't know what the deal is here.

    FAN CONTROL (2.2.4)

Remains a fabulous piece of software. However, there is still the issue that sometimes a spike in CPU temperature is measured (87°C) by fan control which is not registered by any other software (throttlestop, coretemp...).

I noticed the same thing yesterday. Out of no where Fan Cotrol showed 89C on both CPU and GPU, but before few minutes was maxing at 68-69 on both. Double checked with HWMonitor and there it showed the normal around 70C. Today I updated it to 2.2.4 and it does not show any CPU temp for some reason, where it should show it it just says CPU Temp. Is this just by me and how can it be fixed? And should i uninstall the CCC since im using the Control Station and Fan Cotrol, do they some how interfere with each other?

Hi John! I think you should contact Dell, they need some help :)
Updated | The Dell XPS 15 9570's DPC latency issues are more complicated than the company first thought

    - Check that you have your Windows Updated - Do all updates
    - Uninstall anything related to Sound Blaster, SBX, Creative
    - Install the SBX driver from the Updater software
    - Install Realtek Audio Driver from the Updater software
It will reboot and resume install
    - Reboot again
    - Open Windows Store app and check for updates
I have the exact same unit as you, works perfect here

Fan Control will only report whatever the EC reports. Having CC installed at the same time is probably compromising the EC pools, really a BAD idea.

CCC + FAN CONTROL is something i will not waste time supporting, your really on your own if you keep that mix.

To fix your problem "NO CPU TEMP", Open Fan Control, now do CTRL+ALT+DEL, it will open task manager, now just click the "Services Tab", search for "ClevoService" and right click it and select "Stop", wait a few seconds and Fan Control will show you a warning, just click YES, so that it will re-install all dependencies.

DPC latency is INDEED more complicated than it seems. WHY? Because manufactures dont even care... they release hardware / drivers that have not been tested against it.
The app that i´m building is a "ENABLE CRITICAL MODE" toggle, and it´s split into 3 sections:

    - Device Manager listing all devices and allowing you to select which devices you want to automatically disable when in "Critical Mode".
(this way you can toggle between critical mode with all devices you dont need in the disabled state, and "normal" mode with all devices back on)

    - Recommended For Uninstall - Will list all software that SHOULD NOT be installed, stuff like 3D Vision/ NVIDIA Experience / NVIDIA Audio
(Example: NVIDIA AUDIO is the one of the biggest DPC causers i´ve seen), if you dont use the external monitor Audio just disable this device

    - Tweaks - Stuff like setting NVIDIA to Maximum Performance and other windows tweaks

The advantage of the app is the ability to switch stuff ON or OFF (devices / tweaks / power stuff), which means i´m not exactly solving the problems with the devices / drivers, not my job.... i´m just creating tools to minimize the damage in a practical way.

PS. i wish manufacturers would stop using the windows ACPI methods in such an abusive method... that would be great.

I will try to have something ready by the end of next month.

Last night i also made a new app, and like always my ideas always start like this: "Hummm it would be nice if i could have XXXX"
So i have this two laptops in my desk, and i was looking at the second one and i tought "Hummm it would be nice if i could monitor my main laptop in that screen":

Remote Monitor for Fan Control was born... lol
You can now monitor your laptop from another laptop, over local LAN or over the internet :p
I think the app is ready, just gonna test it for some more days....

Now while i´m playing DOOM 2016 i can monitor the laptop just by looking at the screen of my other laptop :D

hi john, I reinstalled latest chipset drivers on a windows clean install but somehow the app won't detect the installation even if it gets installed with no errors.
    it shows like this https://gyazo.com/13d28324f83052adb18a7a801ddd6205
i installed it twice just overriding the current installation but it stays like this
    thanks for your help

We now use 4 different apps, that you can learn about in my signature.

Your license for that old app will work with Updater btw.

Thanks John for your quick answer.

I'll attempt your solution next week. I've always installed the realtek driver first, SBX later, so I'll give it a try.

Would you advise to force install the chipset drivers?

I removed CCC the moment I downloaded your fan control, so that can't be the culprit for the temp spikes ;-)

Basically in "MSHybrid" you can´t control Brightness correct?
And in "Discrete Mode" you can, correct.

To get Brightness to work in MSHybrid you just need to have the Intel Graphics installed and the Fix in Control Station, that´s it.
Tested with pretty much all units.

    REMOTE MONITOR

Remote monitor allows you to fetch data from your Fan Control software over LAN/INTERNET.
With this app you can monitor the temperatures and fans in another computer.
    Like this:

Monitoring the P775 (on the right) using the N151 with Remote Monitor(on the left).

To connect over the internet just setup your router to forward port 52319 to the IP of the laptop running Fan Control (the one we will be monitoring).

If the app is unable to connect chances are you need to access the Windows Firewall in the laptops running Fan Control and create a rule with "ALLOW" all connections for the ClevoService.exe which is usually located in C:\Program Files\FanControl\Monitor\

    App Screen Shots:

    DOWNLOAD LINK:

    https://code.obsidian-pc.com/RemoteMonitor.zip

    **NOTE***
You need to create Windows Firewall rules (In and Out) for this Fan Control service:
    C:\Program Files\FanControl\monitor\ClevoService.exe

Please report bugs or ask for new features in this thread

Hi! I have installed the Updater a coupe of months ago, and now decided that I want to get rid of all CCC-things on my computer and replace it with your suite (control station, LED and Fan control). My question is, what do I need to do to remove CCC completely? Do I just uninstall it, using CCleaner or whatever? Or do I need to manualy remove anything else? Thanks for your hard work! Learned a lot just by following this thread.

I would select only the Samsung NVME (since you have one).
Nop, no more Control Center, uninstall it, use Control Station if you need any of it´s options.

Go to windows Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs and Uninstall CCC.
    Reboot
In Control Station go to "Windows Tuning" tab and select all the "Recommended" settings.
Also select the Apply brightness fix if your laptop does have "MSHybrid" mode.

    Hi John,

you are right. I change to "Discrete Mode" in bios and i can control brightness in windows.
After i switch back to MSHybrid i cant control. Also i tried to activate and deactive the fix in your software. Nothing happened.

I reinstalled windows 10 a few weeks ago because i want a clean instalation with your tools.
Before that, the brightnes control worked for me. But now it doesn´t. I dont think its because of intalling your tools.
Any ideas how to completly uninstall the intel vga driver and start again?

    Hello,

Kinda random question but I need to ask. I can't make the Intel graphics HD icon visibible on system tray. Even if I right click on desktop it only shows Nvidia settings. Is this related to CStation?
I created a post here in the right section and no one knows why this happens, also can't find any info on google.
PC in signature. I must say that I'm on MSHybrid, formated 2 times and tried 3 different drivers.

Nope... That's because all drivers are moving to dch / uad . Please read about dch and uad drivers.
Most current drivers will have a separate control panel in the form of a Windows store app.
Check your Windows store for updates and search for control panels in the start menu.
In the long run drivers should not have a control panel but instead integrate with the OS system settings.

Well look at device manager, there you will be able to see if the Intel driver is installed or not...

With the latest updates of Windows manufacturers are moving to this new type of drivers, which I actually feel like it's the right path.

I love Ubuntu Linux for having all hardware options in a single control panel, just like Apple.

These days since a lot of manufactures pushed updated drivers to Windows Update the best way to install Windows is:
    - create an updated install media with Windows Media Creation Tool
    - install Windows and do all updates
    - update some more and reboot
    - manually recheck Windows update
    - are all Windows updates really done?
    - after Windows updates are all done you can now run my supper Updater app and install any missing / outdated driver
    - open Windows Store and check for store apps updates too... Lol

The driver is installed and everything is working fine, I can open Control Panel pressing CTRL+ALT+F12, just the icon is missing.

I'm already using your Updater for long time :p I don't use FC cause I'm really basic user, idk how to config this things, but I should learn about it since I almost only use this PC for gaming.

Thank you for your time anyway.

    Hi @ John@OBSIDIAN-PC,

    1) Question for Fan Control app. Does Clevo P650RS-G laptop choose Triple Fan at Fan amount optimization option?

    2) Do you have any plan to add Clevo P650RS-G (i7-6700HQ CPU) cpuprofiles for CPU Tuning in Control Station app?

P650 is a 3 fan system (even though the second GPU fan will always be in sync in the first GPU fan), but yeah, select triple fan!

The CPU stuff in CS is currently the weakest of the lot, i´m just finishing Keyboard LED 4K support and then i´ll scrub CS from top to bottom!

Instead of Windows Power Profiles try out the Power Modes in "Control Station".... that´s one of the sections that works really good.

I just finished Keyboard LED latest, with Scalling and other tweaks so i will moving to Control Station to finish it off!

This guide is great provided Windows setup has built in drivers for your network adapter(s). If not, then you need to have previously downloaded and saved the minimum drivers needed to get you online so you can access Windows Update. I like to keep the chipset and wifi drivers handy, at the very least, as I'm not comfortable with the idea of installing any peripheral drivers before the motherboard resources are properly configured.

Btw. thanks for the brightness fix. Haven't tested it yet (currently using a different laptop), but I was very unhappy with being stuck on maximum brightness.

Yeah that´s an easy one, just donwload wifi drivers in another PC or something.
The reason why i keep insisting on having windows updates up to date is that some drivers actually need it. It wont install without the latest windows version.
This is because of the move to DCH drivers.

I would recommend reading this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...evelop/getting-started-with-universal-drivers

Yes, but what of the chipset drivers? Is it okay to install the wifi driver without installing the chipset drivers first? AFAIK the wifi sits on the PCIe bus, which immediately after Windows setup could be showing something like Standard PCI controller. If the wifi is installed on that generic driver, and Windows later updates it, should the wifi driver be reinstalled?

It´s just a rare case where the move to dch actually worked on our favor and most manufactures pushed updated drivers (specially Intel, which is what really matters). Everything else there´s always my Updater.

You dont really need to install Chipset drivers first (most of them are not even drivers, just identifiers). And if you install WIFI without chipset the worst that could happen is a refresh on the Wifi when you install Chipset, it will turn off / on WIFI (since wifi drivers are already present it will re-use them). But yeah, i also always install Chipset, then IME, then WIFI :D

Not until i can get my hands on one, sorry.

First questions, which you probably have answerd before, but is there any keyboard shortcuts to change the power modes in Control Station? Just like ctrl+alt+1-6 Changes the fan profiles.

Second, is there anyway to get some recomendations for fan tables for a P950HP6 model?

And last, when I'm in "Normal mode" (user presets) in Fan Control, sometimes my computer automaticly changes the mode to "Max mode" (Main modes). The computer is idle and I havent changed any settings since I installet Fan Control. Is there something I've missed, or is it some kind of bug?

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC

    Control Station issues:

    1) I use 125% scaling on my 4K panel, spacing on the application gets overly spacious, especially with the top three buttons. (Updater, Fan Control, KB LED)

    2) When I move the app on my desktop, it flickers in and out like mad until I stop moving it. Does it whether I have 1 display active or 2. Doesn't come up as a 3D app, so it's not like GSync is trying to kick in. Does it on my 1080p display as well.

Make your own preset, dont be lazzy :p, to take full advantage of Fan Control you need to find the settings that work better for your usual tasks, room temperature, etc.
Check Fan Control settings, maybe you have enabled "CTR+ALT+1 to 6" shortcuts. and you are accidental triggering those no?
There is no way to make Fan Control jump to max fans, the only app that can interact with it is Control Station in the Power Modes tab.... and that requires a manual action.

Control Station Scaling is not ready, it´s actually the only app missing a big update on that.
The flicker should also be fixed on next update.

    Makes no difference mostly...
During games it will clock up as needed. So minimum CPU is only used when in idle.

This means you are using the old install (while it was beta).
The old install was all placed in a single directory: C:\Program Files\LaptopTools

These days, everything is different, the teens do not respect the older people, the weather is crazy, there are rockets that land vertically and big investments in AI are bring made, which is the same as saying that each app now uses it´s own dedicated directory.

So, please get rid of the old install (delete C:\Program Files\LaptopTools)
And install each app in it´s own directory with it´s dedicated installed:
