That is a initial release, still under development, the point is giving you a proper starting point to tune your CPU for best performance and lowest temperatures. If you are not familiar with TS please wait until we finish the CPU tab.
Now each settings that you can "download" and "apply" are as follow:
CPU + GPU - Best performance for when you are using both the CPU and GPU - Gaming profile
CPU only - For those who do not game and want a CPU OC for best CPU performance
Silent - name says it all
Battery - Life the above, name says it all
Remember those are starting points, each CPU behaves different and does have different limits.

Updated Intel WIFI to 19.50.1.5, previous installer was not actually working, it would not update the driver. Thats why i jumped a driver update version.
Intel Rapid Storage was also updated to latest version some days ago.Rynaus, Spartan@HIDevolution and GeoFrank91 like this. -
@John@OBSIDIAN-PC Are BIOS updates for Obsidian clients still planned through the tool ? If so, any ETA on the new EC and BIOS (1.05.05) update for the P870KM1?

You will be able to update using the app. -
i had some issues with battery profile while seeing videos. some crashes, despite change in the voltage offset (-90mv). (this comment is just an input to help the improvement of the app)

You might simply be unstable at lower clocks with that voltage offset.

i have tried prime95 for half and hour with this setup and there's no problem (error) only with movies and when i am moving forward and back

For the Intel Chipset driver, you need to add the -overall flag to the installation routine, which actually installs the drivers in the package. Your program will report that the downloaded version is installed, but when checking device manager, nothing has changed.John@OBSIDIAN-PC and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

1) Copy the driver installation folder and rename it to something easy (ie. chip) to the root of C:\ then launch command prompt as admin
2) then type cd\ to go back to the root of C:\
Now the drivers will be installed completely because if you don't follow this method, then as soon as you run the setup regularly and hit next, you will notice that the installation completed and nothing happened.
NOTE: You MUST re-install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Drivers after you install the Intel Chipset Drivers because the Intel Chipset Drivers usually install their own AHCI Controller so you have to reinstall the IRST Drivers again as they are better. Also, can I suggest adding a checkbox or drop-down menu to allow the user to kill the application entirely when they hit the close button instead of having it just go into the system tray? I keep forgetting that hitting the X button doesn't really close the application, so I'll re-launch it from the folder I have it in, which causes two instances of the program to run, creating two icons in the system tray.

You also have the right click system tray icon with the exit option. -

Minimize goes to Taskbar.
Close goes to system tray icon.
It seems it's the norm.
I was asked really really a lot to make it work like it is now. -
Good job with the app John! Is there any chance I can use the P771ZM to be updated using the app? At least the Intel drivers etc maybe?

I can understand saturnotaku's point. When we first launch the app, it goes into the System Tray. This is not how most apps work. Some people (including me) may not have the Obsidian app to run at startup to reduce number of apps on startup to improve startup time.
The app is great as it is, but in my personal opinion it would be even better if:
1. It minimizes automatically to System Tray on Windows Startup if enabled.
2. It opens the Tool Window or maximizes it (if already running in the system tray) when the App icon is clicked.
Of course you could provide more flexibility to the user by giving some checkboxes to configure options like:
1. Start app minimized on Windows Startup
2. Close to System Tray etc.
This is how the Steam app works for example and so do most others. Battle.net launcher from Blizzard, Kaspersky, GeForce experience, Logitech Software etc. etc.

I'm sure he will consider further requests like option to choose to minimize to system tray, just give him time. He's probably busy with other important updates for the app.

I'm cool with any request.
I think I just understood what you want.
You want a setting where you can choose the default behavior for the close button right? Is that it?
Something like:
-Close button minimizes to tray area.
Or
-Close button terminates app.
If that's what you want I can add that to settings tab, very easy. -
The thing is, the CCC used to startup automatically and suddenly I noticed it's not in the taskbar icons. So what I did is I uninstalled it using Geek Uninstaller which found a leftover of the Hotkey folder and got rid of that.
Then I rebooted and downloaded it again using the OBSIDIAN Tool and reintalled, then rebooted, it's installed and CCC runs when I manually launch it but it's not starting up on startup automatically despite me seeing the the Hotkey entry is there in the Autoruns
Mind you, I have no Killer garbage suite or the Intel PRO/SET for the Wireless drivers which we know can sometimes prevent certain apps from starting up.
How can I fix this?

Fans are controlled by the EC Firmware.bloodhawk likes this. -
What are the rpm's of the fans when controlled by the EC Firmware? Will they be around 3500 max? just wondering.
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Max RPM is not the same on all models, since they use different fan models.
Automatic mode will never speed the fans to max like when you do FN+1 but still they will spin high enough.Papusan likes this. -
Thank you. For me the automatic settings in CCC gave 3500 rpm, with OC fan profile and fn+1 it was +4200 rpm max. I was just wondering if the CCC I had was buggy and therefore caused the throttling in my laptop. Hard to say, but I have returned it now to the place I bought it from.

Can the keyboard lights be turned off without CCC?

I don't know if this is more an issue with the W10 creator update, but the trackpad driver is broken. I never noticed it until now because I use an external mouse 99% of the time. The other day when using my machine on battery, the trackpad refused to work at all. I reinstalled the driver, which got it back, but when I put the computer to sleep and woke it, it stopped working. I thought I got around that by disabling "allow Windows to turn off this device to save power" in device manager, but then it stopped being responsive again.
I rolled back to a much older driver that was actually designed for Windows 8, and that seems to have sorted it. With that driver in place, I'm going to try and update it with the MSI one that maintains the older Synaptics control panel. I tried using that one out of the box, but it wouldn't install.

In case anybody else is having problems with their trackpad on the current Windows build, here is where you can find a link to that older Windows 8 driver I referenced earlier. It includes the "classic" Synaptics control panel, which is light years better than the garbage they've integrated directly into Windows 10's settings. -
Alright so I figured a few things out for myself.
The audio driver failing to install problem that I've been having was fixed by turning off the driver signature requirement through windows. After turning that off I was able to install the audio driver no problem and it works great, the driver signature requirement turns itself back on after a few reboots.
I re-pasted my cpu with grizzly kryonaut and noticed about the same idle temps as before (around 38-45C) but temps under load haven't gone above 75C while running Aida64.
I also kept having a crashing/freezing thing that would happen while either restarting or shutting down (though it didn't always happen). I turned off Fast Start/Fast Boot (or whatever it's called) and so far I haven't had a problem.
John, did you want to try going through my throttlestop again?steberg likes this. -

Hey there, great work with this app!
Unfortunately, my P650SE is not listed in the appCan I still select similar models with the same laptop chassis like P650HP6-G or P650RP6-G and use the app like this? I think some of drivers are the same. Would you please enlighten me good sir?
-
I used it successfully with my P870DMG using the DM3 profile as it has almost identical components. The tool detects drivers installed and their versions, if it doesn't detect the driver for a component when you know you have the stock driver installed, it means you don't have the hardware, so don't click the button on the tool (which will install the driver for hardware you don't have) you will have to update that driver manually
In almost every case there is no harm only benefit in updating drivers to a newer version. Clevo control centre is the exception because versions of that ARE specific to the model (EC interfacing, fan tables, CPU lists etc) so look at your owners lounge thread for the recommendation as to which version to install (or look in the driver files section of Obsidian website for your model)dm477 and John@OBSIDIAN-PC like this. -
An update for those who are having issues with NVidia display. After countless issues with the latest driver, hotfixes and Windows 10 Creators Update - like black screen during boot, graphics corruption, games crashing etc., I finally uninstalled the drivers using DDU and went back to version 378.92. This driver version is stable.
@John@OBSIDIAN-PC Looking at all the issues reported on the GeForce forum and faced by myself, I would suggest also to rollback the GeForce drivers to 378.92 also on your server until NVidia fixes all the issues. I had a nightmare for the past few days with the latest driver (including the hotfix which didn't solve anything)
. Screen going black (NVidia driver crash) during a cold boot.
. Screen corruption - Sometimes there are artefacts on the screen. Also can be seen every time during shutdown
. Corruption in games - After playing for a while, the graphics would render on a very low quality with lot of artefacts randomly appearing. I had to restart the game.
. Poor performance
etc. etc.Last edited: Apr 21, 2017 -

It certainly great to have a utility for driver installs!
I've been trying it out with my P650RS-G
BTW, I noticed that the driver versions in some cases look different (some more recent) than the ones on the official Clevo site.
http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=P6xxRS<ype=9&submit=+GO+
For example, the Audio driver version listed there is "6.0.1.7898" whereas the driver installer has "6.0.1.8036". The nVidia driver version on the Clevo site is "21.21.13.6956" vs "22.21.13.8165". CCC on the Clevo site is "5.0001.0.98" vs "5.0001.1.07". I just want to confirm that these newer versions are recommended for the P650RS-G by someone. It would worry me a little bit if the tool scans for the most recent version and assumes that is the right one to use
I've noticed a few issues that were unexpected:
- The Audio driver install fails. I don't know if this is related to the previous report but there is no meaningful error message. Just "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !! [Error Code: 0xE000024B]"
- The nVidia driver install also installs GeForce Experience - it would be great if I could just install the driver without the bloat!
EDIT: looks like the Audio driver failure is the same problem reported by @GeoFrank91 What is the fix/work-around for this?

While installing the NVidia drivers, choose "Custom" instead of "Express" and here you can select only the Video Driver and PhysX.FredSRichardson likes this.
