To get the audio driver to install I had to uninstall what the older driver I already had, then booted into advanced options (shift click restart from main menu) and turned off the driver signature requirement (it's a boot option, I think it was #7?).
You select the option in advanced boot options, it'll restart the computer. Then you install the driver. When it asks if you want to restart, click no.
Boot into advanced options again, select the option for turning off driver signature check/requirement (or whatever it's called). It'll reboot itself and I think it asks to restart again, but I'm not sure. If it does then you'd otherwise advanced reboot and choose the same option as before and that should be it.

Is this true for CCC? I have to admit I am very cautious when installing that.
Woops, my bad! I should have been more careful during install. -
Hi @John@OBSIDIAN-PC. Can I know when Audio Driver will be ready for P650RS-G model and possibly newer driver version update than 6.0.1.8036?
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
There is a new Realtek driver from the Windows Update catalog, version 6.0.1.8110 that seems to have fixed the audio volume issues I was experiencing when waking from sleep. I haven't tested it too much though since I primarily use an external USB sound device.

Just to let you know, there's a new Nvidia Game Ready Driver v 381.89:

Good news, thanks ! However, after the disaster I had with the last version I will wait for the updates from early adopters

Hmm .. I just noticed that there are 2 versions of the GeForce drivers
Notebooks - http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/117922/en-us
Desktops - http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/117914/en-us
Both list "GTX 1080" in the supported products list. What is the difference ?

Wow, until yesterday I didn't even know this and I've always been installing the default drivers which are for desktop GPUs I suppose.
I will try the latest notebook drivers and see how it goes. Thanks for the hint !

They're identical. You can download either the desktop or the laptop driver and you'll find its the same file just renamed. Same thing with the driver that gets installed.Rynaus likes this.
-
Yeah, this is for the desktop versions. Was the same for the older 980 in laptops as well. The older M series was different. And all Hotfix drivers have always been for both laptops-desktop graphics.Rynaus likes this.

John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Desktop and Laptop NVIDIA driver versions are not the same.
They might even be for your system BUT saying stuff like that might be taken out of context for users with other systems.
Please stick to Notebook version driver, which is the one we always use in our app.Rynaus likes this. -
You are right. I downloaded and compared them. They are identical except for the file name.
Besides, I'm sure the GeForce setup, just like any other driver, checks for compatible hardware before it installs any drivers. Without the right nvidia GPU, the drivers will complain saying no compatible hardware found.

So I go and start up my laptop after a couple days and it starts ups extremely slow and the screen flashes to black and comes back normal. I couldn't figure out what was going on. It literally took 2-3 minutes for windows to fully load. I decided to look at the NVidia display properties page just in case and low and behold windows in its infinite wisdom decided to install the latest display drivers without my permission in the background. What is up with that? This makes me a bit nervous.

I'm getting really sick of Realtek's lousy drivers. While the 6.0.1.8110 set seemed to fix the audio volume changing after resuming from sleep, it broke the ability to adjust the volume at all when using my system's built-in speakers. The internal speakers have the exact same volume at 2 that they do at 100, and it's annoying as all get out. I'm back to using the in-box Microsoft drivers and connecting my headphones to the line-out (not the combo headphone-S/PDIF jack) when I'm not using my FiiO E10K DAC/amp.
Just another thing on the long list of Windows annoyances that makes me yearn for my old MacBook Pro.

There is a newer driver released yesterday which fixes those problems you mentioned. So far I haven't had any problems with this new version.
Windows Update does not have this driver yet, but you can install it via GeForce experience or by downloading it.

NEW APP UPDATE:
-Basically it will look the same but under the hood it was almost all re-written.
-No longer relies on driverview to check for drivers versions, the app is capable of doing everything without the help of external software
-New code opens ways for A LOT of new stuff that will be rolling up, once again on regular updates
-Added option to choose "CLOSE" button behavior - requested by @saturnotaku
-Removed OneClick install, this is being re-written and it will be just awesome!
-New Pending Action indicator (spinner)
-New Status indicator
-Changed the "Force enable update" feature - Now a button
-Fixed Resources Widget Enable/Disable Feature -> Just noticed there is a typo it says "RESORCES" (lol)
-Removed the status bar and console
-Created more new processes so that the UI does not get freezed during some longer operations
As ALWAYS- With new code there might be new bugs, REPORT please!!!!
Well now you can expect a lot of new stuff coming... the base is set !

- As requested app checks if it is already running and shows message according
- Fixed Widget tab typo

I just did the BIOS and EC update via the app for the first time. It went quite smooth, with just one restart to enable the ME. As I already told you over the chat John, my only suggestion would be to reduce the number of confirmations required during the update, makes one paranoid !
Great job and thank you !

Btw I wanted to ask this since many days. In most of the games where the display resolution also has refresh rates, I see that the refresh rate automatically defaults to 40hz when I restart the game even though I saved it as 75hz. I have to go to options and save it again. Somehow it seems like 40hz is the default although Windows default is set to 75hz. Is there a way to change/fix this ?
1920x1080x75hz -> this is what I save
1920x1080x40 -> this is what it reverts to when I restart a game -

Several issues I've found in the latest release.
1. I see a notification of a driver update every time I launch the program even though I don't have the "Show Notifications" box checked. See the first attached screenshot.
2. The "close button closes app..." checkbox doesn't stay checked after the program closes, so the next time you close the program it goes back to the system tray like the old version. Same goes for the show notifications box.
3. The application box is too small Edit: at resolutions greater than 1080p so it cuts off a lot of the text in the different tabs. See second attached screenshot.

EDIT: lowering the screen resolution from QHD to FHD fixed the problem, but I think this is a bug

Thank you so much for this!!
1 - Think it´s fixed now, please try it!
2 - You had to hit "SAVE SETTINGS", no longer needed
3 - Added DPI Awareness (hopefully), please try and report
1.03.02 changes:
- Removed the SAVE SETTINGS, it´s too old school, app will save all settings on close
- Added EnableHighDpiScaling again
- "Notifications Settings select box" is loaded before driver check to avoid notifications even when you have selected not to.
Please keep reporting! -

That's the way. My screenshots were taken on a 4K monitor. Lowering the resolution to 1080p works. I actually wouldn't mind seeing the old interface return. It was a nice size: large, easy to read and navigate.

Well you do know that the app is not the culprit right?
I have two options, I can revert to CLEVO audio drivers ( ancient ) or I can use the latest Realtek but then you loose SBX...
This audio/SBX dependacies suck big time!
Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk -
Is it possible to make the app checking before if someone has SBX installed and then use the 'correct' version of the audio driver, in order to be sure that the audio/SBX dependencies are respected? Just to know.
-
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
I will add a option like this:
[ ] Use latest Audio Driver even if it breaks SBX (if you dont use SBX select this)
If you select that it will show the latest REALTEK Audio Driver.
If you don´t select that it will show the latest SBX compatible Audio Driver
Is that ok? -
That's perfect I think

I'm trying to download CCC from Obsidian Tool but it's taking ages for some reason, so I downloaded it directly from Clevo.
Now, what I have to do to make it not mess my Clevo? Just modify the OEM.ini ?
Also I just noticed, CCC from Clevo is a really outdated version, 5.0001.1.05 and the tool is downloading 5.0001.1.21. Which one should I use? I heard someone saying that I should always use the one at Clevo. Is it true? -
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
Until this utility, yes, you would use the CCC version from Clevo that corresponds to your specific machine. I'm using the one from the tool on my system, and it's been working fine. I think it's more that the Intel XTU components mess with the fan tables than the rest of the software itself. You can use the older version no problem, though. -
Thanks but it seems like it doesn't work properly.
If I leave empty the " Use latest Audio Driver even if it breaks SBX (if you dont use SBX select this)", it gives me 6.0.1.8036 as the latest available driver in the Drivers Tab with the UPDATE button available.
The same applies if I select the previous option: I still get the 6.0.1.8036 as the latest available driver with the UPDATE button available.
Why? Shouldn't be different, instead? Isn't it 6.0.1.7898 the latest SBX compatible driver? -
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
That's not related to the app, but related to the current drivers uploaded to the server. I'm fixing that now.
I got derailed doing a proper download manager with a queue and all... Just finished it.
Next app update will have new features
