When you open fan control do you get a CPU temperature value?

Just purchased the updater and fan control. fan control is working awesome, but the updater is not letting me change tabs even after i apply the order number and i get the "you have activated this software" message. Software status remains "software not activated"

Your using the wrong activation code.
Add a b in the end.

For example, if order number is 823 then try 823b

Ok it seems a lot of people are having problem with the following:

    - Making the apps start at windows Load
    - Making KB Led work

I have some free time to dive in the apps again so i´m going to start on this task.
Although i really don´t understand why both issues are happening, we assemble units everyday, none shows this problem.
But i recon there was steps and dependencies that can be managed a lot better, so i´m going to start here, making dependencies load at runtime and making sure nothing is missing.

KBLed also does not work for me. And neither on the old version of the BIOS (almost a year ago), nor on the new one. (ССС2.0 works as it should) And yes, the autorun option also has no effect. (already on two OS)

Ok let´s start with Fan Control:

Can you guys please update to latest version, just released 2.3.3
Check if you can successfully add it to startup.
Also made some changes to the Fix Dependencies in the Settings tab for anyone having problems with either Fan Control or Keyboard LED.

For now please tell me if you can add it to startup in it´s current state.

I was not having any problems with Fan Control launching at startup.

I installed the update and immediately rebooted, and it didn't launch! So, I checked the settings, and apparently the 2.3.3 update unchecked the "Start app with Windows" box...

So I rechecked the box and rebooted, and all is well (it launched successfully).

Yes i had to re-do the way Fan Control starts / add to start.
Let´s wait to see if it solved the issue for everyone.

Hi guys, so i went back to the audio issues on the clevo, (regarding the fade in and the headphones not working after hibernation/suspend.) And came to 2 conclusions: 1- The realtek drivers are responsible and still produce the audio fade in, with no chance to disable it. The solution is to use windows hd drivers instead. And, 2- The headphones fix on the obsidian control station is not working. My computer doesnt have sound from headphones after hibernation, even with that option ticked. If i manaully run "InitHeadphone.exe" from "C:\Program Files\ControlStation\Libs" sound works again, so the issue should be there.

Regarding fan control and keyboard led, everything is OK.

Im am running a freshly formatted windows 10 ltsc, clevo 650 rp6-g, latest Obsidian-apps.

Thanks for the great software John

Have you tried to uninstall the Clevo Control Center and keeping the Control Station from obsidian only? And test it?

Take this chance to fix Control Station too. Make sure Control Station is the first app to start. Currently it's last app and it waits so long to start.

    Hi there!

Is there a way to stop fan control from autoupdating on each boot? I have a problem with the latest build where it somehow messes up with my msi afterburner frequency/voltage curve decreasing the gpu frequency I set in Afterburner after couple of minutes of 99% gpu load. I tested it thouroughly and it only happens whenever I update Fan Control to the latest build. When I restore my laptop from the backup and deny fan control administrative rights to update the gpu frequency and voltage curve I set in Afterburner remains rock solid even after stress testing gpu in 3d apps/games for an hour or so.

Ok so, after boot if you go to task manager you are sure that there is no KeyboadLed.exe running right?

If not can you check if the startup path is correct?

Did you install it at C:/Program Files/KeyboardLed ?

If all checks then it's not related to paths, try running KeyboardLed as admin and uncheck and recheck the Start with Windows option.

Please let me know about that so that maybe I can find out what's causing this.

Fan Control been using the exact same method since the Stone age.
The only thing it does is a simple query to NVIDIA API to get temperature and Load.
Haven't touched that code in ages.
If that query messes up voltages then there's a serious problem with afterburner or the NVIDIA driver.

Just a reminder, as previously posted and quoted above, that I have seen this exact behavior and a Windows Update was definitely to blame. Could be a similar issue for others...

Recently, there was an update of Fan control 2.3.2 -> 2.3.3 and I do not know why it stopped sending data to the RemoteControl application (android)
My smartphone is Galaxy S5 Mini (android 6.0.1)

Working fine here, just tested it.
Check if your Android app is using the correct IP address and make sure you have Windows Firewall rules for C:\Program Files\FanControl\monitor\ClevoService.exe

It turns out that Norton security (including firewall) blocked the packet traffic. I had to turn it off first and then turn it on and it works as it should.
I apologize for the unnecessary confusion.

Yes, firewalls tend to do that. Delete the rule and remake it every time the exe changes. Applies to other apps too.

That might work for those using Windows firewall, although I have not found any issues with it so far - it is a fairly relaxed firewall. Those using third party firewalls will still need to manually delete the previous rule and select 'allow' when prompted again. This is normal with good firewalls - a changed exe is treated with suspicion (maybe a virus changed it). IMHO you should popup a message suggesting the user try this if the app is unable to connect.

    1. Any progress on this. Summers here are really hot. The region between keyboard and display is getting too hot to touch. Seriously missing the max setting.

    2. What is the recommended app for OSD (on screen display) of CPU and GPU temperatures in games and videos? EDIT: MSI Afterburner with RivaTuner is working well for me.

    3. What is best for a graph of temps vs. time? I want to see how high the temperatures got during a particular gaming session. Is it safe to use Open Hardware Monitor?

I don't want to use an app that might interfere with Laptop Tools, hence asking for recommendations.

You can set it to run a .bat file to do just that for windows firewall on update, just have a yes/no pop up after install. Something like "remake firewall exception? (This can fix issues with connections after updates)".

Or simply add a button for it in the program somewhere. All it needs is to run the .bat file you put somewhere in the files and it does the relative cmd task.

Has anyone using Windows Firewall had this problem? I haven't.

The problem was reported by someone using Norton Internet Security. I used to be a beta tester for an eMule fork - we'd get new test builds every few days, and we routinely had to delete the previous rule and create a new rule every time in whichever firewall we were using at the time. I've used Norton Internet Security and Zone Alarm and a few others. Windows Firewall is not very fussy about outgoing connections.

are you going to add to fan control program auto start option at windows boot for unlicenced people? Keyboard leds wont work without fan control. Everytime i have to open it manually and minimise to get keyboard leds recognise by keyboard led program.

So what's the plan - DCH or no DCH? It appears DCH is the way to go moving forward, but for now the regular drivers are still supported. Will the Updater automatically detect which type we are running and suggest the appropriate driver, or do users need to be aware of which type they are using, and if they have moved to DCH, they'll get drivers from elsewhere? Currently both Intel and nVIDIA have DCH versions of their drivers. Updater detects the driver version number, but not whether it is DCH or not.

is it possible that one of the last keyboardled update broke it? ...it still autostarts and applies the settings but I can't see its GUI anymore so I can't change settings.

...also, the Intel driver 25.20.100.6618 does not install on my P650HP6-G. Right now I'm on 25.20.100.6519

Sorry for being slightly off topic, but has anyone managed to update their Clevo laptop to Windows 1903? I keep getting an error saying that I can't upgrade as a driver/service is unsupported (no info on which one). Updater shows everything is up to date, so wondering what it could be.

Exit Keyboard LED (CTRL + ALT + DEL if needed)
Go to you User Documents folder, then \LaptopTools\KeyboardLED
Edit keyboardled.ini and delete the mainWindowGeometry= line
    Save the File
    Re-Open Keyboard LED

    -----------------------------

    Fixed

    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC I'm playing a bit with colors:
    - white is actually yellow, is it due coding or color mixing limitations of the RGB leds?
    - cyan is green (same as before?)
    - blue gets kinda overwritten and mixed with any other color I put on another zone (the only way I can really see the blue is by fixing blue to all the 3 zones, otherwise it is always a mix)

...actually all the 3 points above make total sense if I consider the blue leds being almost missing (little to none luminance) since W = R + G + B but if we remove B then W = Y... same goes for C which should be G + B but with no blue C = G ...

Does everyone have no almost no power on blue leds?

PS: I made all tests at max brightness
