CLEVO Drivers Update Utility by OBSIDIAN-PC

Working on that at the moment, just noticed that myself.

Hey @John@OBSIDIAN-PC just bought the driver updater and couldn't be happier! I was debating purchasing it, but now I pulled the trigger and am super impressed.

Just a question however. I had an older version of Obsidian PC Control center, and that had built in throttlestop, and now, under CPU tuning, the choice is for Intel XTU for undervolting.

Now, I used to use throttlestop only, and have heard that intel xtu could possibly screw with some fan stuff. However, I have deleted CCC and am solely using your stuff. Do you think it's alright for me to use XTU now? Granted, I haven't been following the forums for like the last year or so! Thanks so much for everything

 

Actually you won't be using XTU - Control Station will be using it to implement your settings.

 

Intel vga driver appears to be borked. 26.20.100.7463 Says the driver being installed is not validated for this computer and I should get it from the manufacturer.

EDIT : needed to uninstall the previous driver with DDU.

 

We use XTU only to apply values, select the "Stop XTU services" and it should only use it to apply values and then it kills all it´s services

Yeah the Intel graphics driver is a mess!!!! They are always changing the install process and it´s giving us a hard time finding a way that will always install


Also, good news:
It seems some resellers are finally starting to use our software, we would like to welcome www.silentmaxx.de ! They are now shipping their laptops with our Fan Control Software (not sure about Control Station or Keyboard LED).

We are also working with some other resellers to adapt our software for them! If we get around 5 resellers this will be great for all apps since i will be able to put A LOT more hours into them.

I have a small issue with the software. When my laptop starts without web connection Updater tells me "software not activated". Then when i switch on the wifi it still tells me "not activated".

Another thing, the audio driver for my P751DM2 is not working, i can't decrease sound level (driver 6.0.1.8591).

I can confirm this. I have to either restart the laptop, or exit and restart the Updater.

 

I sent a PM a while back asking, but perhaps here is a better place. My old mainboard died and was replaced; the tools obviously reject the licenses on the replacement board due to the new UUID. Is there a way to assign the new UUID to the old licenses, or will the tools need to be re-purchased for the replacement board)?

 

Fan Control updated to 2.4.5

- Updated QT libs
- Updated signing certificate

There is also a totally new license system to prevent the UUID changes problem, we are now migrating to a server side License check. This also facilitates our work with other resellers where we can generate volume licenses

Updater license system will soon be updated just like Fan Control was, that problem will be fixed then.
As for the Audio it´s currently a mess, i will try to get to the bottom of that.
But latest Windows versions are really difficult to get a Audio / SBX mix that works

Tried to edit Work.ini and force an update and run Fix Dependencies and none worked.

Edit: ClevoService.exe gives an error saying: Service cannot be started and it is disabled on services.msc and cannot be changed to Automatic because of this error:

Edit2: Reinstalling Fan Control 2.4.5 fixed the issue and rebooting afterwards!

I actually got my hands on a unit, i´m going to test it really soon.

Our new License API showed some important information, there are TONS of users stealing our software by using all sorts of gimmicks. I was mentally prepared for that, what shocked me the most was finding companies (curious enough they are all from china) who sell their laptops with either our dumped BIOS or with a modified BIOS to unlock our software.

For users manually changing their BIOS to trick our software:
For users duplicating UUIDs and licenses across units:
For resellers selling with our BIOS or modified IDs to fool the software:
-> Well, we are now doing server side verification, so what you are doing won´t last long. Oh and by the way, do you think it´s really a good idea to hack a piece of software capable of writing to your EC chip?

By hacking the software, and not paying developers i can´t put time into this project, as you see, if it wasn't for new resellers jumping in, everything was very silent with little to no updates right? When you steal instead of paying you are killing development...

Just my two cents.

Of course, in general, this is not such a big problem, but with the percentages displayed on the sliders, it would be much more convenient to configure Fans

 

I can, but do you really want that?
There is 255 points, if i set that from 0 to 100% you loose resolution and you wont be able to fine tune it as much. 1% can be too much in some cases...

Sorry but the new License API is probably ignoring some specific old licenses that were used back when there was only a "OBSIDIAN-TOOLS" app and not the independent Updater app.

Please write to [email protected] and let us know your old order number / license number, and copy and paste the UUID that the app is showing so that we can generate a new license for you.

The license API we made for FAN CONTROL showed us thousands, yes, you are reading correctly "THOUSANDS" of users with modified BIOS to unlock our software.
We traced some of the BIOS to Chinese forums where there was all types of apps and BIOS mods which were modified to use OBSIDIAN-PC ids.
We already kinda knew this was going on, looking at the server bandwidth reports.
What we did not expect was finding out resellers selling their laptops with this BIOS that unlocked the software.
So for the updater we had to integrate the new API and fully change all our URLs to prevent users from using old versions of the software and still downloading the drivers.

Now, you might say "Well, what if they also use old Fan Control versions?" well the API already banned the IPs and well... there are some neet tricks in place for that

Hi,

I suspect there is a bug in the latest Control Center update. When selecting Turbo Boost Power to 4000, it automatically drops down to 95Watts after clicking apply.

Doesn't matter if I choose on "Power Mode" screen to force the "Turbo Power Override", it simply keeps falling back to 95 Watts either way.

Probably that is not the MAX value for your BIOS.
On mine 4000 is the same as unlimited.
Can you check in XTU what is your max value for unlimited?

The values were back to default.

I have re-enabled the Turbo boost etc.

However the Turbo Boost Power on Control Station refuses to go higher than 511Watts, I suspect there might be something else going there.

Whenever I make any changes in Intel's XTU it immediately crashes, saying "Service has lost it's connection. Please restart the application for any changes."

Also could you please verify that the discrepancy in what I have set in Control Station and what it depicts in XTU, in terms of Core Clock multipliers is correct?

It seems to me that XTU ignores or does not see correctly my preference for Core Clock speeds set.

Can you please do a Setup Load Defaults first and then try again?
I´ve seen some cases where that happens and is fixed by loading defaults.
If XTU is not capable of applying a value that´s really not related to my software at all, my software communicates only one directing telling XTU what values to apply and then it´s done.
You can also try to re-install Control Station since it fixes some common "missing files" from XTU.

 

Soooooo...... how "soon" is "really soon"? Apologies for my impatience, but I've repeatedly contemplated going back to CCC over the past year just to turn off these often-annoying Top Case Logo LEDs, so I'm super stoked at the possibility that I can keep a fully functional Keyboard LED instead (with no black electrical tape required)! Thanks!!

So I was fiddling around with this.

Reinstalled the Control Station as well.

Unfortunately after the last BIOS update it simply refuses to apply the power limit of 4000W no matter what I do.

Not sure what else to do, should I try reinstalling the Intel's XTU?

Note: Just to confirm this has started immediately after the BIOS update, it has not happened before.

EDIT: I have reinstalled two different versions of Intel's XTU, I am still facing the same issue. You mentioned there is an option to change this in BIOS manually, I had a look but couldn't find where to increase the limit. Can you please point me in the right direction? Thanks!

[EDIT] Never mind - exit and restarted the Updater. Tabs came back. They vanished after hibernation.

Updater randomly vanishes the top part of the toolbar where the minimize button and close are and the title..

As for the Updater bugs it never actually happened with me, but i believe it must be related to all the changes i was forced to do due to the new License system...

 

It just happened right now on my laptop.

 

I can't install the Creative SB Connect app. Realtek audio are updated and I have the Realtek Audio Control app working fine. Updaters tells me the SB driver is 'ahead of date', forcing a reinstall did not work.

Kinda miss the profiles

 

Hey there! Got the same problem some time ago, so you can try my solution, and see if it works for you. Try to uninstall Realtek audio drivers with the app, Creative SB as well. Then, install Realtek audio drivers from Updater app (it should start downloading Realtek app from MS Store right away), then go to the MS Store and download SB app from there. It should connect and work properly after that. Tell me, if it worked.

That worked. I wasn't finding the app anywhere.

The app seems to work and I can switch profiles. But I get this weird reverb now where if I pause a song it's like I can still hear it eccoing for a few seconds...
