So, after I got my brand new computer a couple months ago, I paid for the fan app and the drivers app, then I sent my new laptop back and, long story short, it got totally replaced.

Is it possible for my activation to transfer over to my new new computer?

I don’t want to buy it all over again.

    Feedback:
    1. Control Station updated without fuss, but lost launch capabilities for the other software. Needed to exit and relaunch Control Station before it would launch the other apps.
    2. KeyboardLED gave an error after updating. Downloaded the app from your website and all was well.

    Question:
Why are you offering a Beta driver for the Intel VGA? Updater is suggesting 27.20.100.8673 which is a Beta driver, whereas the latest stable release is 27.20.100.8587 while the latest Beta release is 27.20.100.8691

Latest stable is throwing "platform not supported" (or whatever error) on some laptops, while the latest BETA is working good and installs fine.

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC : lovely to see you back here. I have been worried (emails seemed to go unanswered). Much relief. Hope all is well.

Re. Fan Control, I have some questions/issues :

    - exporting the table, this doesn't seem to work unless the offered filename is preserved (e.g. normalmode). I was trying to use different names to track versions of curves as I tuned things, but the file is not created unless explicitly named 'normalmode'. Restoring also seems to require the exact filename. Is that expected?
    - is it possible to allow for higher emergency temps (CPU or GPU) in case the user really wants throttling (rather than jet engine emergency fan mode)? I ask because it's been the case sometimes that I don't want the high fan noise and would rather have the GPU self-throttle with the max fan speed I defined (noise vs temperature). Currently, the emergency fans kick in and defeat that.
    - do you have a good way to handle the situation where a part bounces between, say, 85 and 86 C, to avoid pulsing the fan up and down? I tried setting the step counts to maximum values to soften the transitions, but it still ends up with this wahWAHwahWAHwah pulsing.

Again, great to see you back!

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC Any chance this partial CC install could also be leveraged to control the Top Case Logo LED on the P870 Series? That would be soooooo cooooool. Thanks!

    1. known bug, will try to fix it soon
    2. will consider it :p
    3. the higher the steps the more "wah wah" you will get, put steps to minimum like 1 for the smoother transition, if your falling on a range that makes it transition much just change the ranges around that area

Is it a P870TM ? Was there ever any CC 2.0 for that model? I dont even know that lol.

Yeap, thats normal, its an option in our Control Station > Windows Tuning tab > Apply Headphone fix, disable that if you do not need it.

Good to see you back @John@OBSIDIAN-PC !
    Thanks for the efforts.

Just to clarify, I can safely uninstall CCC, restart, then install Control Station and KeyboardLED, tick "per-key RGB" option and it will work?

I use CCC 2.0 which comes with all-in-one package unlike the CCC 3.0 which has individual downloads for CCC, Fan Control and Keyboard Backlight Control from the Microsoft Store.

    EDIT:
So I tried using KeyboardLED (which uses CCC 3.0 for per-key RGB) and its not working for me. It gives an error "No support this module!!!"

I believe CCC 3.0 was released for Intel 8th/9th-gen + NVIDIA RTX GPUs (when they just came out) and it doesn't work for older Intel 8th-gen + GTX 10 series GPUs. Truly unfortunate!

i asked this question a few months ago but never got a reply from anyone and i'm sure with all the traffic in this forum my issue probably got looked over, so apologies for quoting you putting you on the spot :)

i have sager np7856 (released last year) and if i install the control center and the keyboard nothing happens. i change the brightness and everything and the lights don't do anything. maybe i'm doing something wrong? i see older models this app works with so i'm not sure why mine wouldn't. everything works fine with CCC (now uninstalled before installing this). thanks for the help.

I am also receiving this same error when I try to install the "per key RGB clevo app." I don't understand why, as I was using CCC 3.0 before attempting this procedure. I own the PowerSpec 1720, equivalent to the Clevo PB70EF-G.

Your help would be appreciated John, because I am trying to get away from using CCC altogether and strictly using your products on my laptop. Unfortunately, Obsidian's Keyboard LED app doesn't support the "per key LED" lighting that came with my model. But, having only the Keyboard LED portion of CCC installed without the rest of the garbage is an adequate compromise IMO. So what next?

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC Now that you know, and have a link to the Hotkey_181203.zip (Control_Center_AP_2.0_Version_1.0.51) file, is there any hope that it can be used/integrated into the KeyboardLED app to control the Top Case Logo LED on the P870TM1 and similar models? Thank you very much!

@HawkInOz peps were asking for this feature for months if not year now. It's safe to say that this is lost case. I never decided to buy software coz of it also. Only workaround about it is to use obsidian and physically disconnect led strips.

I'm fully aware. I have been one of those people. I purchased all the tools requiring a purchase, in the hopes that this in some small way might help facilitate the necessary development work on the KeyboardLED app. So far, that hasn't come to fruition, but I'm not ready to give up on @John@OBSIDIAN-PC just yet. If the per-key light controls can somehow be integrated using the old CC 2.0 software, then perhaps control of the Top Case Logo LED can as well. Time will tell, I suppose. Thanks.

Same thing happening to me. I have the same laptop.
The PA71ES uses CCC 2.0. KeyboardLED installs CCC 3.0 which doesn't seem to support our "older" model. No solution unfortunately so I went back to using CCC

    Hi everyone,

I would like to share my feeling with the nvidia driver. The last Nvidia driver (456.55) release the 2020/09/28 give me some fps drops. My pc run game at 10fps instead of 60fps (i capped it to 60fps).
I roll back to the 456.38. But I still get more performance with 452.06.

I know the obsidian app doesn't proposed this version of driver but i tried it. So John please don't release the 456.55.

For those who interested in implementing P870 series logo led - how do I contact @John@OBSIDIAN-PC?

He never replied me here, however I wrote him as private message.

I have reverse engineered CCC for this particular function and as I understood all items basically coded inside one small dll library, which sets WMI code for logo led.. Same as keyboard led light, just need to send another argument..

Either John can easily implement it like in 15 minutes, or someone with. Net basic programming experience and preset. Net IDE, as a standalpne app, as I am currently missing the IDE and satellite traffic is too expensive to download it

Anyways the implementation seems easy enough, contact me if able to help with coding, I will send some info for reference

However I would love to have this as basic Obsidian function, as love the software

No idea, didn't dig that far.

    Also don't have the hardware.

My research was only for p870tm1 cover logo led for CCC V1, and V2, and as I know per key works starting from V3 CCC, never bothered to check it.

As I understand, CCC 3.0 internals differ from CCC V2 and therefore much work to be done for newer laptops to implement all functions in Obsidian software.

However p870tm1 logo is like 5-10 code lines away from us.

So... as of today both my registered fan control and updater claim that I run 'a free limited version of this software'. Activating the software by by reinserting the (correct obvs) order number doesn't work. Anyone else facing the same problem?

Just as a note, today, I had various 'critical service has failed' errors and failures to restart complaints from Fan Control. Even manuallly, the Clevo service would not start. Running the monitor\ClevoService.exe program manually, I had a msvcp140.dll error reported. Reinstalling the VS2019 redistributables sorted it out.

I don't think it's on the list from what I can see in the OP.

So, after some hours of reverse engineering the clevo service files, I have managed to change the keyboard logo and keyboard led color on my p870tm1 without CCC using only clevo library for EC

I have built tiny c# utility to send necessary wmi codes to set COVER LED color or just disable it, based on the Clevo service, I guess the same way @John@OBSIDIAN-PC did in his software.

Not sure how exactly it works, but feel free to try. You should have clevomof.dll inside windows/syswow64 or i guess just Obsidian tools already installe for it to work.

    Sources included.

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC - Add this to your app!

Or maybe some GUI godlikes of c# can do some trick with tray app, because currently its just some crude dirty scratch of app, however works.

For those who interested - can give some introduction how i did it.

    Appreciate feedback and error reports.

@John@OBSIDIAN-PC - Please Please Please add this to the KeyboardLED app! Thank You!!!

Does this work for per-key RGB keyboards that use CCC 2.0?
And is it just for P870 models?
