red area will be how big the extra fan is if it does exist. at this point i think if there is indeed an extra fan it would be included in the picture already.. my dream is dying.
the green circled area thats the power socket ish.
-
If they use a fan... It could be a thin one. Not the big need for massive airflow for the little extended HS. More pressure on the VRM*s means... Need more cooling than Kaby and Skylake. Pure logic.Jon Webb likes this.

Could be...
Something is definitely missing from them 4 new holes. They're there for a reason. I wonder what for though...
If its a vapour chamber; I'm going to have a wet dream
-
yea a small fan, thats why red circle is smaller than the primary cpu fan, just a quick sketch lol. the place where those 4 holes are placed kinda weird, cause a small fan wouldnt be mounted like that unless specifically molded that way.
fingers crossed mangStress Tech likes this. -
As I said... A small thin fan for cooling the HS for VRM*s (and a bit for the pure cpu HS)Jon Webb and Stress Tech like this.

Exactly!!

just curious Donald, i was looking at the pre-order and showing cpu up to a several frequency of overclock options from silicon lottery, but they always kinda sold out at least for the top end. how do you guys guarantee on the cpu.Donald@Paladin44 likes this.

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
I don't understand your question. If you are asking how we get them...hehe...we are one of the reasons they sell out of the higher end ones. If you are asking how we guarantee the CPU...we just do. Any failures are covered by our guarantee. If you are asking something else...could you please clarify?Jon Webb, Stress Tech, Dr. AMK and 3 others like this. -
yea was asking something else by guarantee. for example right now they dont have any 8700k in stock due to storage, so i am assuming any preorder with the listed cpu frequency would mean they'll keep waiting until you guys grab it from them correct?Dr. AMK likes this.

A businessman has everything ready long time ago, Bruh, or they must shut down the shop. You can not make money if you sleep in the*classroom* and come last.
-
that would work if constant flow of cpu is available, 8700k prob not available for a lot of places on backorder for several weeks lol
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Guys...I have already said there will be limited supplies in the beginning. That is why you need to get your Pre-order in, and then once we report actual temps, you can cancel if you don't like what you see.

Thanks for putting up the configs @Donald@HIDevolution I really appreciate it. Really sucks that the 15.6" has no QHD screen options as that is my preferred form factor, any chance of that changing in the future?

To the best of my knowledge, Clevo has never produced a 15.6" laptop with a QHD (2560x1440) screen, so I doubt one will be coming for the EVOC High Performance Systems P751TM. -

@Donald@HIDevolution, any information on the non-DTR notebooks with the 8700HQ/8720HK? Any idea of a release date, perhaps?

Still under non-disclosure. I read rumors though that it will be late 1st Qtr. 2018.Stress Tech and hmscott like this. -

Thank you.
Guess next year will be the year of purchases—Zen+ and Volta desktop, Coffee/Ice Lake and Volta notebook and Nikon D7500... -
giving u a head up, intel releasing z370 and desktop 8000 series chip first, the mobile dont come till Q1 2018 so you still got at least 4-5 more months to go.

I never wait more than a month or so for hardware. Eventually you’re always waiting. Different I guess if you don’t have anything to work/play on though.

would it be possible to get the motherboard + processor and have it fit in the frame for a 870dm3 ?

Good question, but i think will be better to sell it and buy the barebone.Vasudev likes this.

It can be done with a little work.
Sorry you meant dm3 to the new one rather than dm3 to km3 which is what I am talking about.Last edited: Oct 8, 2017Vasudev, SFVogt, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Has Clevo slightly change the positions of CPU socket or VGA on the P870TM compared to the P870DM2/3 motherboard? Are there any changes in the area of the CPU voltage transformers?Stress Tech and Vasudev like this.

Lol case in point. I almost bought a laptop last month, but lucked out on my first assignment for work travel and drove so I just brought my whole desktop setup with me lol. I’m just a gamer so the 6 cores won’t affect me (yet) but an effort at future proofing never hurt. And since I had my rig I could wait.
Just get one man. Don’t get too hyped up about synthetic benchmarks and stuff. -

As of yet I honestly don't have that level of detail yet.
I have edited my above post. Looking at it then I am not sure for the current dm3 to new models. Looking at it initially I see nothing changed yet but it's not quite solid enough on details yet.Stress Tech, Papusan and skyFox90 like this. -

that new cpu heatsink picture. why would they add new set of radiator fins only to block it. unless that piece of plastic is removed on the new laptop but still using older pictures.
-
rough work to remove plastic will be enough, how sturdy/hard is it? drill a few holes and snap it off with finger
how you know that picture is the SKL/KBL model?
btw lets just assume the new model does have plastic removed, the fan gotta be tiny to fit there. the ram slot is so close to the cpu theres not enough space lol -
Look on the Cpu LID.don't thin bruh
Btw... Pipes directly on IHS as Razer?

I would wait until proper pictures arrive before making such judgements
Also look at those numbers, 7-6-5-4-3-2-1 on the CPU heatsink
-
Im not talking about the bottom cover. There is literally a tiny wall of the aluminium frame right next to where the CPU main radior fits.
-
yes, im talking about the circled part. how hard is it? i dont own any 870 laptop so i donno. it should be possible to drill some holes then snap it off right?
what those number represents? number of screws? share your wisdom! -
Solid Aluminium from what i can tell. Part of the frame. But i have a feeling the TM1 has that part removed to accommodate a smaller fan maybe.Stress Tech, ole!!! and Papusan like this.
-
If yoo look on CPU HS design with the small HS grill. You can clearly see only the small piece above the cpu need to be removed. This will not make the chassis less stable. If Clevo re-designed the cooling for Cpu... This piece must be picked of. I can't see why they shouldn't.Last edited: Oct 8, 2017Jon Webb, Stress Tech, ole!!! and 1 other person like this.

too many screws to just hold down a cpu heatsink though, 3 screws for the fans maybe?
btw, for a single 1070 or 1080, gpu heatsink will use both fan right?Stress Tech and Papusan like this. -

an additional fan + added radiator would make it a similar heatsink like p570wm's cpu heatsink, but just smaller in scale. less capacity and less dissipation but probably enough for the 6 cores.
ivy-E 4.4ghz at 1.276v HT on is around 120w and it runs hot on auto fan, max fan of course theres no problem but kinda silly to have max fan always running.
@Talon benchmark was hitting 4.8ghz 6 cores at 1.264v, around 120w for CB but thats in a desktop cooling environment. looking @Papusan 5.1ghz 1.35v 131w at CB run ~91c for ambient ~25c (81 for 15). can you try running at the highest frequency possible but at around 1.28v papusan? im trying to work out some sort of numbers in my head. -

Nah, I've planned it all out for 2018 anyway. I'm also hoping DRAM prices drop next year, because I simply refuse to fork out $300++ for dual-channel 32 GB RAM, when I got one stick of 16 GB ECC DDR4 RAM for like $75 a year ago.
Those memory chips are probably not worth more than $100.Stress Tech and ole!!! like this. -
I am with you but it people are saying ram wont start dropping until 2h 2018

That's good news anyway, as the z390 supporting the "real" Coffee Lake + 8c/16t CPU's won't be out till 2H18
