I've messed up my Clevo D900K by upgrading its KBC/EC from 1.00.03GP to 1.00.05 (turns out the GP part was important :p ). The board has recently just been stripped from an Alienware M7700A and I was wondering if anyone had a KBC/EC that would work with it. Cheers

How did you messed it up?
I had once a motherboard with a messed KBC key mapping and I had to study which keyboard key corresponded to which key code. If there are keys whose key codes you cannot find under the mangled mapping so that you can get to the correct KBC image before flashing, just rename the folders conveniently on your BIOS image folder.

    Hi,

I own a Clevo D901C (Spanish Keyboard). I have read all this post and the link to download the BIOS & EC is from Megaupload which is not working anymore. I found another link to download the BIOS and went ok. However the link posted by Blacky to download the needed 13N KBC is not working, it's just for private now.

Does anyone have this file??? Or do you know if can I use the 13 version without -N? By the way, I don't know how to find out which KBC or BIOS version I'm using! I have read all the message at start up and even inside the BIOS menu but I don't find such info! any help will be appreciatted.

Thank you very much in advance

Oh, don't flash your BIOS. It will break your keyboard. The BIOS posted here are for English keyboards only.
Try to contact your reseller to get the latest BIOS.

I finally found the 13N version! Do you think it won't work?? there are different KBC files for every language?

What would happen if I only upgrade the BIOS? I have a very annyoning issue with my computer that is corrected in the last BIOS (sometimes beeps repeatedly).

Which minimum KBC version I would need to upgrade the BIOS file?

Thank you very much for your help and quick reply. I don't know how Clevo doesn't make BIOS files available to users....

I don;t know the answer to any of your questions unfortunately. But what I do know is that someone who had a Portuguese keyboard upgraded the EC/KBC and well, the keyboard was all messed up. What you could do, is you can backup your current BIOS (there is a command, ask Prema) and try to upgrade and see what happens. If it doesn't work you can always downgrade (just be careful do downgrade BIOS first and than EC /KBC).

    Hi, guys,

I am new to this forum. I have used a Clevo D901C pretty much maxed for the last three and a half years to great effect. I recently obtained another one that I am trying to refurbish. But I've had a great deal of trouble finding the BIOS and KBC upgrades. The first post on this thread lists MEGAUPLOAD as the source for the files, which of course cannot be used now that the government has shut them down. I noticed on this thread that mmarchid has this upgrade in his cloud files. I just wanted to ask if he would (or if anybody else has them), let me have them, as the BIOS on this other D901C is pretty early. I can't go to my reseller because they're out of business. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

My apologies for bumping on this thread. Like several other users here, I have tried a very extensive search for the latest BIOS upgrades on the D901C. I have recently obtained an XI branded Clevo which I am trying to refurbish, but to upgrade the processor to a Q9550 and memory to 8 Gb (which I actually just had lying around), to fit my purposes for the machine, I need the latest BIOS. I have tried every single link posted in this thread and none of them work. The XI computer techs refuse to give me any updates at all, saying "They have none available for my particular machine", even though I never even mentioned which version I am trying to update. The other source I tried (for my other machine), is out of business entirely. I have searched other forums and have had no success for the last week. I've spent a fair amount of money trying to do this, and I never thought it would be so difficult just to get updated BIOS files. There seem to be several people here who have these files, yet none of their links work. I would try PM'ing these particular individuals, but it appears I do not have PM'ing privileges, which I find strange for a vBulletin forum. But anyway, I have three questions:

1: Would it be possible for someone here to provide a fresh link to the latest D901C BIOS updates? It would be greatly appreciated.

2: It was mentioned in this thread that there is a way to back up the old BIOS before trying to flash a new one, in case of a problem so that one could return to the old BIOS version. I have backed up the BIOS on my PCMW machine, which is in the form of a BIN file. Now I need to figure out how to separate it out into the KBC/EC and regular BIOS files, if that is what is supposed to be done(?).

3: In case nobody can give me the newest BIOS files, I actually have another Clevo (branded PCMW) with its BIOS at ver. 1.00.20 and KBC at 1.00.10N. Is it possible for me to somehow dump this BIOS and transfer it to the XI machine which only has a BIOS ver 1.00.10 and KBC 1.00.07N?

I thank you in advance for any assistance on this problem.

Hi all, I'm after a fix for my Rock Xtreme M57U as on Vista or W7 it doesn't see the DVD rom but it does on XP, my brothers M57A runs W7 no problem but its recently had a cup of coffee over it so is nothing more than a pretty doorstop!
I think he must of been using a different BIOS from me to get W7 working but I've been struggling to firstly find what BIOS version I have, and secondly where I can get a updated version from - any help with either of these problems would be gratefully recieved!!

    Cheers

Is it possible to get Bios and EC/KB updates for this model?
    Thanks

    @IpswichJules
your BIOS first appears when you start your computer, there is also a key, I think f2 to get into your notebook setup and you can see it there as well, or disable to splash post screen from BIOS setup if you can't see it because of it.
Latest BIOS for M57U is here I think: M57xU
I don't know which one is the latest, you will have to download everything and than look in the zip files to see which files are newer depending on their date.

    Hi Blacky and other members!

It's seems that the D901C it's hard to update... I have contacted the seller and they can provide me a BIOS which is nothing to do with the D901C model...

So I'm back again in this forum... very sorry!!!

First of all, I need to know a way to backup the current BIOS if anything is going wrong! I have been surfing thorugh the net and nothing found... :(

I have downloaded succesfully the last BIOS version (D9C_22.WPH) and last keyboard (13 and 13N). If anybody needs this files just let me know. But I haven't tried to update until I got a way to backup mu current BIOS and KBC.

Any help will be realy appreciated...

There is a command that will backup your bios. Maybe try help for AFIDOS or whatever exe you have there for flashing the bios.

    Hello.

I recently purchased a Clevo X8100 eBay . The problem is they did not know what brand it was and update the BIOS to version 1.00.13. I´ve update the ec first but after doing so the laptop went into a loop of reboots. Just after loading the bios restarts. I removed the motherboard and want to reprogram the bios reflashing the bios chipset with a programmer. The problem is that the BIOS chip is SST25VF016B = 16Mbits = 2 MBytes = 2048 Kbytes and the bios WPH file is 4135 Kbytes.
Someone tell me what part of the file are the 2 MBytes WPH I have to reprogram the chipset.
Or if someone has a bios backup write me a PM or extract a copy of the BIOS you have on your PC if this was 1.00.13 or 1.00.14 using the following method

I believe the Linux tool "flashrom" should be able to extract
the SPI flash image. It is available as part of the following RecoveryCD:

    Live CD - flashrom

    Here are the instructions.

    1. Make sure your bios is setup to boot from CD/DVD as the first boot device
    2. Plug in a USB Flash drive (for storing the image)
    3. Insert the recover CD, and boot the system
    4. Select "boot directly to graphical interface"
    5. Once Gentoo has finished loading, you should see a console window
    6. In the console window, enter the following (assumes only one USB drive installed)
    "mkdir /mnt/flash"
    "mount /dev/sdf1 /mnt/flash"
    "cd /mnt/flash"
"flashrom -r bios_image.bin -p internal" (flashrom should write the file to your usb drive)
"flashrom -v bios_image.bin -p internal" (flashrom will verify the SPI contents to the file)
    "cd /"
    "umount /mnt/flash"
    7. Once you are finished, you can use the shutdown button, on the lower right
side of the GUI, or type "shutdown now" on the console.
    8. The file will be on the top level of your USB drive.
    9. Then just remove the CD, boot to your normal OS, zip the file, and send it off

    Thanks in advance

2MB is the BIOS & EC the other 2MB the ME chip...

Also you require a running dump to re-write the chip.

Request someone in the P180HM owners thread to run Afuwin (just run and hit save to dump the 2MB BIOS/EC part)

Sorry P180HM? . My laptop is an clevo X8100 with a Phoenix bios and i think that afuwin is for AMI bioses. How can help me a dump of a P180HM ?.
Is it possible with a hex editor to extract only the 2MB in the WPH file.
    or get a dump to a bios 1.00.13 or 14 from a clevo X8100.

    Thanks

LOL...180/8100 I should stop roaming on the forums at 3 am after a long day of work...
Winphlash or Bios backup toolkit may dump it in windows then...If you can't get a dump (ask in the models owner thread) then dump the bricked chip with your programmer and do a diff with a raw update in hexworkshop to see if you can isolate the required part without messing up the checksums and header...

    Good luck!

    Hi everybody,

Just a note to tell you that I updated succesfully the BIOS & EC KB to my D901C with Spanish keyboard (BIOS v22 and KB 13N). I think KB version includes all languages as it was supposed. If you need the files you can download it here:

If the link is broken in the future please contact me at: [email protected]

    Best wishes to all

I have a Clevo W765TH which has gone through a rough time (tea spills, vga reball etc). Now it does something crazy: after reaching 50C degrees it beeps like hell and after a few minutes shuts off. That should happen at 75C not 50! And i'm sure it is 50 because apart from everest/speedfan i also used an IR thermometer right on the heatsink.

Anyway long story short i guess a BIOS upgrade would do the trick but i cannot seem to find a bios file for W765TH, most similar is W76xT which gives me a "Part ID not found in table of supported parts" error. I have upgraded the EC firmware to version 1.00.15 successfully (although there was an alert about being different version but i risked it) but can't seem able to update the bios, it is still version 1.00.01 and i have tried both 1.02.28 and 1.02.35(latest) which give the same error.

Is there a specific bios file for my model or can i force the update to continue by some /f switch in the batch file?

    Hello all.

I have a p150hm and according to my bios the version of my EC/KBC is V1.00.13 and my BIOS is V1.01.14 which are supposedly the most update version. Yet for some reason I cannot see any fan tables in my bios.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Apparently Eurocom is shipping 7970M and 680M kits for the D900F, and at least one of them comes with an updated bios to support the new cards. But who knows, maybe it's one of the old BIOSes anyway.

680m works with the current D900F Bios, only problem i have found so far is the Bios Screen Sager/Clevo Page before total boot or entering bios is Inverted Colors. beyond that works perfect it seems

Thanks for the info, that clears everything up! (inverted boot colors, not a big deal yeah)

Considering getting the 680M for my D900F, since my 7970M in P170EM is a total failure for some of the sims I play/work with.

Edit: +Rep for you. Thanks again.

    Hi,

I am writing to get some much appreciated help upgrading my Bios and KBC/EC.
I bought my 9700 DTX (Clevo w860cu) from Deviltect november 2009 and this summer the graphic started to crash during different games. I later found out the reason for the crashes were my graphic card is no longer performing as it should.

Anyway, this is my current Bios and KBC/EC: DSC_0325.jpg

I want to update them so I am able to install a new GTX 560M. I have not found any bios or EC except from this forum. I have tried several times to write to Clevo service centers asking them about where to get the newest bios, KBC/EC and a guide explaining how to install them.

I am also on the lookout for my current Bios and KBC/EC, in case I mess up during the installation of the new Bios and KBC/EC. Do you know if there is a way to create a copy of my computer's current bios and KBC/EC setup??

For my last question. As i understood, the Bios and KBC/EC on in this thread is all for English systems. Is it possible to install only the BIOS V 1.00.16 from this thread, and then install a new GTX 460M, with my current KBC/EC setup??

The reason I ask so specific is because I have found someone selling GTX 460M and GTX 560M on Ebay (UpgradeMonkey). Does anyone have any experience buying graphic cards from this guy??

    Sincerely
    Jesper

Hello, please forgive me in advance if this issue is addressed elsewhere - I haven't found it.

In Wikipedia (I know; don't depend on them), it is stated "Ivy Bridge processors are backwards-compatible with the Sandy Bridge platform". I have been trying to find an update for the Clevo P180HM’s BIOS that would allow me to use a 3840QM or 3940XM.

Techs at both Eurocom and Sager have stated that the chipset is incompatible. "The 3xxx series of CPU are not supported" and "The i7-3840QM and 3940XM CPU does not work with Sandy Bridge chipset. Those CPUs require Ivy Bridge chipset" were the replies I received.

I'm hoping maybe Paladin44 or Mythlogic know something different. Is there some kind soul here who can help?

If this is addressed elsewhere on the forums, please point me to the right thread.

    Thanks in advance.

It seems its not as simple as a bios update.

You could try updating the intel ME firmware. To do that, you could try using MEset.exe.

And then also you will need to have your bios modded to support ivy CPUs (not too hard to do).

After all that it just may not work. Nobody has been successful with that upgrade on a notebook before.

Thanks MH. I appreciate the note on the ME firmware. Intel's site indicated the ME firmware updates can be combined with BIOS updates, but that's up to the mfr. Interesting that no one's had success with this kind of update. Maybe none of the engineers at Clevo have been authorized to release a version, but SW writers tend to love to play around with their wares. We all want to improve our lots if we can.

So as far as we know, there's no bright boy out there who's found such updates and no one who's made them available, or cooked up his own? Bummer. Is it possible that Blacky has a finger on the pulse of updates cookery? Or is there just no one who's interested in squeezing out the potential of the HM67 chipset on the P180HM?

If I was smart and knowledgeable enough, I'd love to take a crack at it myself.

Prema, in the thread you refer to you stated "That information (taken from an Internal Intel documentation that was given to Notebook OEMs) has nothing to do with heat.

Unlike the desktop the mobile platform's (Cougar Point Chipset) VR can't deliver the required voltage states required for IB compatibility.
So it's not like the OEMs wanted to sell us new systems and didn't offer a BIOS/EM update, it was Intel who told them that it doesn't work..."

So the VRs used on the P180HM system board aren't up to the Ivy Bridge CPUs' requirements?

Good thing is... From benchmarks I've seen, the 2960XM OCed by 4 bins (if that's realistic, with a BIOS mod that would allow it) should be close to on par with the stock-clocked 3940XM. Throw in a couple of HD 8990Ms or GTX 7xxMs and you'd have a pretty sweet laptop.

    Is that doable?

hm that rather sounds like a hardware issue. check ur ram with memtest86+ thoroughly. also make sure that both ur cpu and gpu temps are in the non-critical region. aside from that, the usual: clean u vents & heatsinks, repaste cpu & gpu in case temps arent right ;)

    cheers

Do you know if it's possible to upgrade the BIOS on a Clevo W76K? It's currently got a really slow TF-20 CPU that I want to upgrade but it won't boot with another CPU. So I figure they're not supported by the BIOS.

Hello. I know this is an old out of date laptop. But I was wondering if anyone has seen a BIOS update for the Clevo M59KE Laptop. I really like this laptop because of its 20.1in LCD and Dual 7900 GTX. Also if anyone knows of a BIOS update for the Video cards let me know also. Thank you.

Already been there. But those are still very out of date. Was hoping to find something newer hopefully one that allows 4GB and TL-62 and TL-64 CPUs. Not sure if this could be done by editing the BIOS manualy or not. I currently have 4GB in my notebook but BIOS reports 2.8GB and Windows Reports 4GB but only 2.75GB Useable on either 32bit or 64bit. Also not sure if this is VBIOS related or not but I can not get any program to detect Core Temp and Powermizer only works with one card.
