I usually end up taking really long breaks from time to time when life gets depressing, but I've been fairly active this whole year. It feels good to have a smart and welcoming community to go to ^_^

I have an old Clevo M765S. I can't remember the version of BIOS and EC that already had. I flashed the BIOS (without first update the EC) with the file ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M7xxS/746S_BIOS22.zip that I read that should fit my model. After that I cannot boot the laptop. Only black screen, I also tried Fn+B but nothing happens. Is there any recovery method available for me?

Did you have a Sager model? I believe flashing a Clevo bios on a Sager PC would brick the machine.

Not much you can do now dueller.
What you have to do, is get a good BIOS and EC for your laptop from the internet. Put it on a USB stick. Search online for a laptop repair shop near you, call them first tell them you have a bad BIOS flash. If they can fix it, then go to them with your laptop, give them the USB stick with the proper BIOS. They will desolder your BIOS chip from the motherboard, place it in a special machine that can flash BIOS chips and flash it with the BIOS on your USB stick. The entire process takes no mare than 10-15 minutes. The most difficult part is actually disassembling the laptop. The service usually costs 10-20 euro across the EU or 10-20 GBP in UK.
    Good luck!

I have a Clevo one sold with the brand of a local shop, they call it Turbo-x Prime GS. I believe I have tried everything, putting out the CMOS Bat., every possible combination of Fn + ... I followed the Phoenix recovery method using Wincrisis, but no luck so far. Is the recovery method still available? And if not why so? Is the wrong EC that prevents it?

generally it is wise to always update the EC before the bios or update them together without reboot inbetween.

You tried everything. It's time to go to the repair shop. Believe, it's not that painful to fix with the right tools and not very expensive either.

    Please be careful next time.

@jaybee83 Yes, that's how it should be done.

OK, my fault was that I updated the BIOS without first updating the EC firmware. Is the EC included in the BIOS chip? If I find someone that has a BIOS programming board should I go with the BIOS chip only or the EC is in another chip? Can somebody identify the bios chip on the board? The service manual doesn't show it and I cannot recognize it on the board. Anyone did?

Yes, your fault was that you updated the BIOS without updating the EC.
I think the BIOS and the EC are on the same chip, but I am not sure.
Best thing is to go with the whole laptop there and tell them what you did.

If anyone managed to recognize the BIOS chip, would be very helpful. The price here in Greece for reprogramming a BIOS is 50 € and I am not sure if the technician is able to find the chip. I was thinking that it would cost me less to buy a programming kit and try to do it myself.

Oh, OK right. That's a 2009 model with Phoenix BIOS.

Yeah, BIOS/EC share a single SPI. You can use a chip programmer to dump it and send me the file to integrate the correct EC, which you can than burn back to it.

    Hi all,

I own a Clevo M760TU from back in 2009. It still runs smoothly, although I am having a problem with the CMOS / BIOS. Is there a update available for the laptop?

    BIOS: Phoenix
    BIOS Revision: 1.01.16
    BIOS date: 10/08/08

    Here you go:
    M74xTU/M76xTU

Try not to brick your laptop!
Remember, flash EC first, then BIOS.

Hello. I have got Clevo D900F with GTX 480m ( the mainboard is the second version - with male socket for DC ). It came with GTX 480m so it has got modified heatsink. I want to install GTX 680m instead of 480m. Will I need any special BIOS to make it work, or will it work with standard 1.00.09 BIOS?

OK, so I have got latest BIOS. Will GTX 680M work on my notebook? When you want to buy D900F from eurocom, there is an option for GTX 680M. There was also an upgrade kit for D900F with GTX680M. But will it work?

That is why I am asking here :) Maybe somebody tried it already and know for sure it will work/it will not work.

Will wait patiently for an answer before I will buy this card.

For now, Sager, Clevo and Cyberpower answered me, that GTX680M is not supported by D900F and it will nor work. If so, why Eurocom was selling D900F with GTX680M and why he was offering GTX680M as an upgrade ? I am not sure about technical knowledge of Clevo and Sager stuff. Maybe Eurocom has got his own BIOS or vBIOS, don't know.

That is high probability. You have 2 options here:
    - ask Eurocom about it.
    - ask Prema about it

Prema is the god of Clevo BIOS mods.

    :)

Prema is really a God of Clevo Bioses. He did answered me and sent me needed BIOS'es and vBIOS'es needed to use this card.

But I have god another question. With GTX680M HDMI will not work. But DVI will work. So, has anyone tried audio through DVI to HDMI cable ( or DVI + adapter to HDMI )? I know this configuration works since GTX2xx and up, but I do not know if Clevo blocked it in D900F?

I've asked, will wait for the answer.

Today I received my notebook ( bought it like a week ago ) and to my surprise, I have got BIOS 1.00.10c. Hmmm, what the hell ?! My system is CyberSystem D900F. I thought, that the last BIOS version was 1.00.09. Is it some kind of modded BIOS ? Maybe the previous owner flashed it with somebody elses BIOS? But I doubt it, he was some kind of CAD developer and he did not play any games and stuff like this, and people this kind dont flashes their mobos.

c stands for CyberSystem. So it's a custom BIOS made by CyberSystem. Apart from that I wouldn't know anything else. Again you can send it to Prema to see what he thinks of it. I am sure he would love to add another BIOS to his collection.

Hi, I am using a NP8170 (P170HMx) with the following BIOS:

    BIOS: 1.01.10LS1
    EC/KBC: 1.00.06

Shall I go use the BIOS updates here? (I tried asking Sager directly for the BIOS, but they kept asking for my serial number which I am unable to find at all. Not helping that my reseller went out of business quite some time back)

    Thanks!

Hahaha, yes. It was supposed to be on the top of that picture.
Ok, you can flash the Clevo BIOS in the original post. Just be careful to follow the instructions, note if you need to have a minimum version before you make the update.

And never revert back to the Sager Bios.

EDIT: Yep, updated without a hitch! Thanks again! Just that it feel the same as before...

EDIT2: As for the XTU, apparently you will need an older version (2.1)

Hi everybody, and sorry for the newbie question. I have spent quite some time fondling with the search function of the forum before asking, I assure you :)

I have a clevo m765s laptop with current bios reported at startup 1.00.02 (its a 2009 model based on Phoenix v6). I am trying to upgrade the CPU to the T9300 and just to be on the safe side I need to flash to the latest bios. I've never spent so much time before in my life with any mobo just to figure out which version is the latest - which says a lot about clevo I guess.

Anyways i have found that it is maybe 1.00.22 (i.e. http://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/60.190.30.111/bios/clevo/M7xxS) but I can't get any download link to work. The local shop here that sold the laptop offers no help, as they claim that it is quite old and out of guarantee.

Can any of the folks here point me to the right direction to get the necessary files (not only the bios but also the EC files)? The procedure should be the same as the one described here right? -> http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-bios-older-models.556299/

I just want to make sure I don't fall victim of the same error as Dueller did here ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-bios-older-models.556299/page-22 )

    Thank you in advance
