Thanks for searching Blacky, I am quite sure that after I bought and first installed the notebook systeminformation indicated 4G! I also have other (desktop) computers running XPpro that clearly report 4G with no limitation.

    P.S. the 2'cnd???

Maybe you have XPpro 64-bit. That might explain it.

P.S. The Symphony not so much, but I really digg his piano concerts.

Thanks voor the link! I've downloaded the files and will try upgrading somewhere in the comming days.

And: no, the desktops all have XP 32 bits (SP3). I have never seen this problem before but on my XXODD.

P.S I meant de 2-cnd pianoconcerto: absolutely my favorite!

I haven't used XP for 2 years now so the be frank I have no idea how it reports the 4GB RAM now. What I can tell you for certain is that XP 32-bit cannot use more the 3.2 GB or RAM even if it reports 4 GB. It is a simply impossible for it to use more due to the way processors work.

P.S. Yeah, I agree, the 2nd is one of the best, if not the best. :)

There might be an incompatibility between the vBIOS. Where did you get the 285M BIOS from?

You need to get the 285M vBIOS from an original card, used in a W870CU. Otherwise there can be incompatibility issues. The best place to ask for a vBIOS is: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=423943&page=167

That's a little odd. Why does the D900F only get the older 3700M, while the X8100 gets the newer 3800M?

Does anyone have knowledge of these stock BIOS files working on laptops which are based on the W860CU models through other resellers? I have a Pioneer Dreambook Power W86 i7 which is as far as I can see exactly the same as the base Clevo model but Pioneer provide zero support  and I'd rather not brick the laptop doing a BIOS update.

If on the back of your laptop it is specified that the model name is W860CU, then you can flash it with any W860CU BIOS. It will work just fine.

Well ive updated to this new bios V 1.00.07cS LS3 for the D900F and noticed my disk transfer rate of my 80GB Intel G2 SSD went up from 7.5 to 7.7 points in Window 7 performance rating system.

Does anyone know what the LS3 at the end of this bios means and also what's changed or added???

    Thank You!

Do any of you kind people have a BIOS update for a Clevo M550se/M660se based notebook.

I'm trying to upgrade one made by Positivo (V42) in Brazil, originally it had a Celeron chip and Ive put in a C2D 1.66ghz but it only shows as 997mhz due to multiplier lock.

You have the 5xxSE series which is divided to M540SE/M541SE/M550SE/M551SE sub-category and the M555SE only sub-category.
    And you have 66xSE series.
And each of them has special updates for BIOS and KBC/EC.

So please provide your exact machine base and give me your actual BIOS & KBC/EC version number; so i can tell you if there is update for you or not.

thats not exactly an official clevo-bios since it has been customized by sager.
i flashed it on my d900f and didnt notice any changes or problems.
like the previous sager-customized bios (.04s) it contains a newer version of the intel raid option rom than the official clevo bioses

The machine itself is a Positivo V42, which I don't think helps much.
    , but:

    Cpu-z states:
    Model - M550SE/M660SE
    Chipset - P4M900/CN896/VN896/PT890
    Southbridge - VT8237A

    Bios states: M550SE 1.00.05p D4

I'm presuming a Bios update will alow me to use a C2D?

    Forget about the CPU-Z.
Can you give more information about what is written in the BIOS settings: the BIOS date, the KBC/EC version and date. The thing is that the M550SE series has 2 sub-categories and i have to know to which your machine belong so i can give you the right update.

M550SE/M540SE BIOS REVISION: 1.00.05P D4 fro VBIOS test

Thats all that I can find in the bios itself as it doesn't appear to give me many options.

    Bios is Phoenix 6.00
    Chipset - VIA 82C364 rev 0

    Bios date - 20070414

I flashed to 06 for my D900F, but there were no ec/kbc files to flash in the package. Is this right? It worked, but my ec\kbc version is still 1.00.03g.

Also I can't seem to get the sager (1.00.07c) bios to work. Burned an ISO image but won't boot to the cd. Changed the boot order...strange

That's fine. Not all BIOS releases have a new EC/KBC. For instance by M570TU has BIOS versions 0.19 and EC/KBC 0.12 .

    Just to be sure...

If your computer is one of these 4 :
Then download this EC : ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M5xxSE/M5xSE_H805.zip

    If yours is this :
    then download this : ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M5xxSE/M555SE_H8.zip

For the BIOS, all of them have the same file : ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M5xxSE/M5xSE_13.zip

You have to run the EC before the BIOS, and of course both of them under DOS
