Could you be more specific where is the label located? I opened my laptop but couldn't see the label on the visible parts of mainboard or the plastic frame.

I can't tell where to find it because i don't have a W870CU under my hand now. All what i know is that Clevo always label all her parts (not the label which start with NKW870CUxxxxxxxxx which you will find every where)

If you can't find it, you can call your reseller and ask them if you can put an i5-540M or i5-520M processor to the machine that you bought from; if they tell you yes then probably your motherboard will have a v4.1 or later.

Pkhetan, bit of a long shot, but as you seem to have access to the Clevo FTP properly rather than just file mining, are you able to see whether there is a seperate section for locked and unlocked X8100. The initial unlocked X8100 BIOS has some rather glaring issues with current retail 920XM and Im interested to see if theres any sign of a new one, or just the locked BIOS.

Have you looked over the BIOS with the Phoenix Mod Tool?

There is only 1 section for the X8100 with 3 files ( i don't know if they are locked or unlocked) :
    ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/X8100/BIOS_02.zip
    ftp://cftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/X8100/X810402.zip

It's for supporting Arrandale CPUs (i5-540M-i5-520M) But to suuport these CPUs your motherboard should be version 4.1 or later also.

It would be nice if somebody tried flashing this bios on older motherboard version using the core i7 CPU. Because if it doesn't work it could be a big problem that all future bioses with various fixes will be unusable on older motherboards.

It'll be fine on older motherboards. Clevo have many times released new mobo versions supporting new CPUs and the BIOS's have always been backwards compatible.

    Exactly,

The old mobo will work with that new BIOS but without any benefit from the upgrading but at least it's not harmful.

pkhetan, if you can help me...

M761SUN - My Board do not recognize Intel 5300AGN or Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 4Gb, only default card Realtek RTL 8187B Wifi. Maybe a new bios can help right?

    Thanks!

Well, for the WI-FI card, i don't think that it's a BIOS matter. Any way, have you ever changed the BIOS or EC firmware for your machine? I'm asking because you have to be careful that your machine accept only the M74xSUN and M76xSUN updates. There is also the M77xSUN updates, and if you have loaded these updates recently, you may have some abnormalities as the problems you mentioned.

By the way what is your actual BIOS and EC firmware?

    Hi, thanks for your answer!

    No... M761SUN have factory BIOS/EC, never upgraded/downgraded.

    BIOS - 1.00.04
    EC - 1.00.04

Only Realtek Card works in my laptop... Intel or Atheros cards do not work...

    Sorry my bad english.

OK, i think i found the reason :

The Intel 5300 and the Intel turbo are minicards which use a PCIe interface. The RTL is a minicard which use a USB interface, so your machine slot is a USB interface one. Note that although each one of the 2 slots can physically fit the other card type, but it will not be electrically connected.

As i can see file says *746*. Works in 761? Or is only a name?

Sorry i can't understand english very well, should i install only the BIOS 1.00.06, and stay with 1.00.04 which i have; or install join update from BIOS 06/EC 05 in same ISO?

    ----
In past i had a M761SU, and Intel 5300 worked there. I think N letter in SUN word is only the upgrade from 9300GS to G105M. Am I sure?

In clevo specs there are a internal PCIe slot... and lspci show always a PCIe bus avaliable... Have i a bad board?

The 746, means it's for 74x 76x series, so don't worry your machine is compatible.

From the first zip you run only step2.bat (for the BIOS)
then from the second zip run update.bat (for the EC)

for lspci, it also reads the pci ports from the the chipset, so it's normal to find available port (PCI bridge) because no mobo manufacturer will connect all the available ports (too many) to PCIe controllers.

    Which languages you speak?

Strange, M761SU board, same components, electrolytic capacitators changed to solid, and GFX upgraded from 9300GS to G105M(same chip, big clocks), and there is a PCI-Express port inside.

SUN Model, is identical to SU in all interfaces... can't understand, there are people with PCIe Slot with same model, but with customized BIOS... i have fear to brick my computer...

BIOS06 have two steps(update EC to 04(copied 05 to same folder and edited script step 1); step BIOS from XX to 06) in USB.

    I will update tomorrow.

Yes, I agree with you it's really strange, i downloaded the M760SU & M760SUN manual and they have the same motherboard and both of them has the mini card slot with USB interface. Can you check if the RTK card works with the M760SU? and can you check if the mini-card slot in both are the same? the only explanation is that the reseller changed the mini-slot in your M760SU to a PCIe interface (or even to an automatic dual-capable interface) so it can work with the Intel 5100.

In Clevo site, SU and SUN model, had option to come with Intel 5100 or Intel 5300 from factory...

Yes, he works in SU model...

Reseller telled me that all models that they have actually from CLEVO(M76xSU and SUN), no one works with Intel 5300. They didn't changed slot.

But my last laptop, M761SU from November 2008, works fine with Intel 5300.

    Apparently, slots are equals.

    Can't understand...

Nvidia G105M can run PciE 2.0 x16, but board only allowed G105M to run at PciE 1.0 x8....

Wasn't problem in Clevo Factory? By accident install USB-only capable slots in these boards SU and SUN?

Can you retrieve info with my board serial number?

Can you give the Clevo website link where you find that M76xSU, SUN have option with Intel 5100, 5300? I can't see any of these laptop models in Clevo site now.

For the PCI x16 to run, both the host (chipset) and the device (GPU card) should support this specification, otherwise the whole system will shift to the lower supported specification.

I have an X8100 Clevo now,

And the first thing i got was a warning tone that lasts for 1 minute or so, and than totally shuts down the system.

I have no idea what the cause can be, but i readsomething about a heat issue? And something with bios.

Now i tried to find a bios or firmware update only to find a solution for that beeptone.

So i specially made a account to contact u here, since i cannot log in to Clevo Downloadpage. Something only for OEM/Distributors.

    Can u help me out?

ps. Is this the correct way to contact u?

Probably memory issue, your sys may not be able to see and read RAM. BIOS may also be the cause of your problem. Does your system pass through POST?, because, if not, you can't perform any update or test the system. Maybe a Dead-on-Arrivall, i don't know. My suggestion is to call your reseller as Blacky has already mentioned.

I have a xxodd w870cu, which is a clevo w870cu, and I tried to update both ec\kbc and bios to version .10

The ec\kbc flash succeeded, but with the bios flash it tells me that it worked, but the bios remains at .01 I have also tried to update the bios to .12 but with the same (no) result.

    Any ideas?

the last BIOS for M66xSR is 1.00.06 which was released on 2008/4/18, so it's a little bit old but that is the final BIOS from Clevo. To update to this version, you have to update EC Firmware first to 1.00.04 if it had not been done before. Please check your versions by entering System setup when booting ( normally by pressing F2). And if you need any of them, just post your email here.

Hi PKhetan, i need the BIOS for M66xSR is 1.00.06, Can you email it to me. Is it difficult to update? My EC Firmware already has the 1.00.04 installed!

    Thanks for your help!!
