It isn't that difficult.
First you need to download the bios file from this thread.
Extract the file and then burn the ISO image in it in a cd. You can use a variety of programs to do that.
If you don't see any files in the disk after you' ve burned it, it's normal, because the files are in the disk's boot sector.
Go to bios and change the device priority so that your DVD device boots first.
If you are right, when you boot from the cd-rom, it should start automatically to do all the things. When finished, you will be asked to restart your system.
I am warning you that you will hear a lot of beeps during the flashing. This is normal! Don't panic -
Thx for explanation. So just burn the ISO to CD and it will automatically start flashing? No need to type some order in DOS?And does the ISO image of bios contain also the KBC firmware(as i read it needs to be updated first before the bios itself cause otherwise it can damaged the bios)so the process of update will install the firmware and bios or I need to burn the firmware and the bios separately and install them one by one?Thx for reply.

@ Rascall - go to the first message of this thread for complete instructions on flashing your BIOS. Take your time and be reasonably sure that you have everything that is required and understand the procedures involved. It is not difficult, but it is a serious undertaking. Done wrong, it can cause all sorts of issues or worse.

I agree with Revelator that you need to understand what you are doing and be confident with flashes. Wrong=FAIL=USELESS COMPUTER
-
I was flashing my desktop pc two times, but there is an Intel mainboard so i used the express software method for intel boards which u install in windows and it will update the bios itself, restart, flash, restart and get u to win again(of course with automatic backup of the former bios in case the update will fail). that´s a briliant way how to update bios...but for my d900f i will probably wait some time.
-
Flashing the BIOS in Windows, has resulted in a lot of bricked MBs. Glad yours has worked out though. Usually when you brick your MB out of Windows and call ASUS or whoever, they say, we recommend flashing from DOS! Only 2 things you can say at that time, 1) Thanx or whatever you think is most appropriate and 2) What's the address to RMA my MB back to.

Hello All,
I want to update my Clevo m860tu BIOS to the latest version but the file on here is not an ISO. I don't have a USB stick so can someone guide me how to burn the files to a bootable CD?
Thanks. -
Then use the method with a bootable USB stick.
-
Is there any way to create a bootable CD and do it that way (don't have access to an empty USB stick at the moment).
-
I think the Sager version of the BIOS you are trying to flash is an ISO. So you can use that one, just that you will get a Sager splash screen afterwards.
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
And, it must be said, it is a handsome splash screen indeed that will lend style and mystery to your computing experience. -

Is there any Clevo M570TU bios with sager splash screen. The Clevo's one really sucks. Don't care about version.
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
The Sager 5797 support download page shows an EC Firmware file v1.00.04S, said to fix a "key sticking issue." Not sure it's what you're looking for, but might be worth investigating. (Next to last selection)

Unfortunately, this is an EC firmware and didn't change my image. Whatever, thanx for searching!
-
Yeah i'm stock with the styleNote splash screen after the 2 last update from clevo on my W870cu
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
LOL. I flashed back to the Sager 1.00.10S BIOS after updating to the Clevo 1.00.12 version just to get away from the StyleNote splash screen and back to the Sager screen. The update didn't address any issue I had, so it made no practical difference for me. I admit that it's a pretty silly reason, but I just like it better. -
new BIOS for W860CU
1. System BIOS 1.00.14 - 2010/6/11.
2. Solve "HDMI audio no function witn nVIDIA GTS 360M VGA card" issue.

ive never updated bios, so i have a couple questions that may come off as a bit dumb.
1. i have a d900c and have read that the d900c and d901c are the same machine, so they use the same bios, right? i ask because their isnt a d900c bios option on the first page.
2. this bios is from dec. 2008, no newer ones have come out since then?
3. it says "It is necessary to update H8 firmware to 1.00.13/13N or later." can someone please explain this to me a bit better? i dont know what my h8 firmware is. i tried googling, but to no avail. -
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. As far as I know that one refers to the EC/KBC firmware. In other words you need to first update to that one (in case you have an older version) and then to the latest one. -
The last BIOS for the D900C/D901C is the 1.00.22
The last H8 firmware (KBC/EC) is the 1.00.13 for the machines come with the XP keyboard; and the 1.00.13N for the machines come with the Vista keyboard (Note that we are talking about the keyboard version and NOT about the operating system you are booting.
In this special upgrade, you have to do the 2 upgrades (BIOS+H8). Upgrading the H8 without upgrading the BIOS will not let your machine boot. For the order of the upgrades, it's alway preferable to do the H8 first then the BIOS. -
now this may be another dumb question, but how do i know which keyboard im using? also tried googling, but no dice.
-
what does your windows key look like? is it an orb like vista, or an xp style logo?
-
like this:
-
that'd be the vista keyboard, you need the .13N
-
thanks for all the help, everyone. repped all of you.

NP9280 (D900F) 1.00.09cs / 1.00.04sa
http://74.212.252.103/Sagernotebook/misc/928bv09cs.zip
Just burn the .iso on a CD or DVD and start the computer from the CD, don't have to worry about anything, it will auto update the BIOS and KBC. -
it will autoupdate???no need to type anything?
-
Yes, just boot from CD and it will ask if your computer is really a NP9280/NP9285. When you accept, it will do EVERYTHING by itself.
-
thx. it doesn´t matter if it´s sager np9280 or clevo d900f right?it will update my bios with d900f revision, right?and does the boot screen change to sager?
-
Yes, it will change the boot screen to Sager, that's the only difference.
-
im back with more stupid questions.
refresh: i have a D900C
so i made a bootable USB and got to the dos screen. typed "dir" and i see the directories. now how do i navigate to them?
i tried everything i could think of, but dont wanna start typing random stuff and ruin my laptop. -

Learn DOS.
The Command Prompt in Windows XP- Introduction
For example, cd junk\"gpu stuff"\W870CU\flash will take me to a directory called flash on my USB booter. -
i read all that a couple times, but i still dont understand what to do/type.
i swear i used to be decent with computers, but havent done anything with them in about 3 years and now im totally lost. -
What is new on this BIOS?
I am on 1.00.04s
Do I get turbo boost?
EDIT:
Nevermind my question, just did the BIOS update. Easy as cake. -
I am happy to say I just updated the BIOS in my 9262 to .22 and dropped an old Q9650 CPU into it, but I did hit a speed bump while doing it.
I installed a OCZ Vertex SSD a few months ago. Because of this, my lappy BIOS is set to AHCI....while set to AHCI, you can not boot from a USB drive. It took me a couple hours of head bashing and reformatting the thumb drive till I figured this out. Hope this helps if anyone else runs into the same problem. -
Interesting, my M570RU will boot fine from a thumb drive while in AHCI mode.
-
To my understanding I cannot update the firmware on my OCZ Vertex due to the fact that the 9280 does not have an IDE mode, only AHCI. I am stuck on version 1.4
Probably have to plug it into a desktop or something yeah? -
Sounds like the easiest method, yes.

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
@Pkhetan, Blacky & Theriko:
Do you all have any information about the 1.00.13 Clevo bios for the W870CU -- what it does/fixes? -
Here's to hoping for overclocking and hyperthreading.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
It's most likely just really minor stuff. But I'm going to flash 1.00.13 onto my notebook tonight and do my usual assessments.
-
Sweet, thanks dude.
-
I will try to check that later.
Edit: couldn't find anything
. Pkhetan will probably tell you later.
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Thanks for checking.
-
where can I find 1.00.13 bios ? will test it right away
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
You can get it straight from Clevo here: ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/W8xxCU/W87CU_BIOS13.zip. Last I checked, you need to use Chrome or Firefox to get access to the ftp board.
-
Thanks, Flash is done.
Nothing new. No new option at all... and still got that damn stylenote -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Bummer. Thanks. Hate that StyleNote splash screen.
-
Boo-urns...
Atleast we have the one BIOS that lets you deactivate hyperthreading.
