Im going to go back to XP to try sort my problems, is there an ISO for 1.00.18 anywhere? Took me ages to sort out the USB bootable last time. Would be a lot easyer with an ISO :)

The user mikepd found that in one recent RMA his Sager NP5793 came with a newer SBIOS revision, .13.

Can anyone that has an Sager NP579X could please send an e-mail with the S/N to Sager asking for BIOS updates, so we Clevo unbranded could update ours?

    Thanks! ;)

Unfortunately mine is just an unbranded M570RU-U, but I support your request for someone with a true Sager to help out the community and try to get the .13 BIOS file so we can all upgrade our systems to the latest BIOS revision.

I am confused. So the latest EC/KBC for the M570RU is what ?
The latest one I had access to is 0.10 EC/KBC.
The latest BIOS is 0.12, if there is a new one I will gladly add it to the list.

The latest known EC/KBC for the M570RU is from Sager, .11Sa, which comes along with the .12aSL main BIOS update.

The latest known version of the main BIOS is .13, which someone discovered has been flashed to their BIOS when the system was sent in for repair. No known copies of this BIOS update have been found in the wild.

I see, is there a link for the 0.12 EC/KBC? Although it would be best if you could get an unbranded version.

No .12 EC/KBC versions exist, at least to the best of my knowledge.

    Ah, that makes sense :D

I attached it to this post.

The batch file for this EC/KBC contained the following command:

    Phlash16 /x /mode=3 /s EC57RU11.sa

I'll ask MikePD if his EC/KBC was also updated to a revision higher than .11Sa when his system BIOS was updated to .13.

The releasing note for that BIOS is :
Solve "system can't identify nVIDIA GTX 460M VGA card" issue
and the unbranded version of this BIOS is : ftp://cftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/W8xxCU/W86CU_BIOS16.zip

And for the W870CU 1.00.15 with the same release note : ftp://cftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/W8xxCU/W87CU_BIOS15.zip

For the X8100 a new EC firmware 1.00.08:
    ftp://cftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/X8100/EC_08.zip
Release Note : Modify nVIDIA VGA fan table.

Very little usually bar the splash screen. Clevo sends BIOS out to the Vendors for checking, and making any custom changes they want.

Sagers might have had a few minor tweaks, but usually they're virtually identical. Chose which ever splash screen you want, as long as you're getting it for the right chassis/mobo, both should work.

Not entirely sure, I just no that vendors like MySyn have sometimes done things like enable overclocking. As I understand it they recieved the same BIOS as everyone else, so they made thier own tweaks on top. To be honest BIOS editing is a pretty risky business so it wouldnt surprise me if bar the splash screen 99.99% of the time they're identical.

I am not very optimistic that there would be any except for the new NV VGAs.
I am going to flash the next days and get back to report, especially regarding the behaviour of overclocked extreme CPUs.
If Blacky has got some time, could he update his post?

Oh, you can get the BIOS from Clevo directly again?

mySN BIOS and Clevo/Sager BIOS are different mainly because of the additional settings under the Advanced section, yes. I just don't think that there are any "tweaks" made to the Sager BIOS compared to the Clevo BIOS aside from the Splash screen.

I will update the initial post in the next few days.
Some of the BIOS you can get now from Clevo's US ftp. But it doesn't always have the latest BIOS or all the BIOS.

I still put them up on mediafire because, given what happened last time when Clevo shut down its BIOS website without any warning, I prefer to always make a backup copy there and post it here. It may also ease the bandwidth burden on Clevo's ftp website and thus make them less prone to shut down all access to their BIOS releases.

The last BIOS for W870CU is 1.00.15
These two have the same release note

Does the stock Clevo BIOS for the M570RU-U allow the multiplier to be changed for a Core2Duo Extreme Edition? The option is missing currently in the BIOS, but I figured that's because I'm currently using a locked multiplier processor.

Nothing new in .16 to me. Still unable to BIOS overclock, same menus, etc.
I agree, hosting them externally is the best method if Clevo feels like stopping it's service again.

Does mysn still provide overclocking features?
The latest EC for the 860 would be .10?

Yes, the standard BIOS allows a 2x multiplier overclock on extreme CPUs, but if you use ThrottleStop, then you get FULL multiplier control on them :)

    Interesting. Thanks for the info.

What's a better OC method, upping the multiplier to maximum, using setFSB to OC the FSB, or a combo of the two methods?

Upping the fsb overcocks the whole system (CPU, RAM, PCIE bus - thus everything on it, HDD controller, gfx card etc) due to there being no bus locks, therefore you won't normally get much of an OC on that before things become unstable. You'll get a much better OC by upping the CPU multiplier and the OCing the gfx card separately.

I have a question about the 0.19 BIOS for M570TU / ETU (Sager 5796/ 5797). Does anyone know what's updated/improved by "Added support for Windows 7"?

I'm currently using the .18 BIOS, and have win7 x64. Is a BIOS update recommended?

All Clevo BIOS updates are done with Pheonix. Even if it's an ISO, it's just an automated ISO which runs the commands for you, but in the back the same thing is happening.

I'll let you know as soon as I take it apart.

Edit: Nope, it's just system BIOS .13aSL. No EC/KBC is included, I guess .11 was the last revision.

I'll report back as soon as I test it on my system.

If it isn't in the first post of this thread then it probably doesn't exist. If you didn't check the first post in this thread please do so now.

The autoexec.bat command for flashing is:

I successfully updated my barebones Clevo M570RU-U to the .13aSL BIOS provided above.

No obvious changes. BIOS options are still the same. No obvious increase in performance, although I haven't run any performance tests to check for a more fine grained increase. It still recognizes my fx3700m without any trouble. The Fn key fan controls are still fully functional, I tested each setting.

Looks like this is good to go for anyone that wants to update their system.
