pkhetan is a reseller and therefore has access to the BIOS download lists, and he is nice enough to share his info - you can't check bios releases yourself.

I know the odds are highly unlikely, but is there a chance that another Clevo bios with VT-x will work with the W150HRM. Firstly, is there a bios that actually supports it?
Alternatively, are the bios registers known that holds the relevent value for VT-x so I could manually update it. As you can see I'm clutching at straws here .
Can you guide me to where the latest bios is so I can have a backup please. -
Does anyone know if the D900F with BIOS (Phoenix SecureCore) revision 1.00.02aB is compatible with i7-990x? I currently have the i7-950 3.06GHz (Quad Core) processor installed, and I would like to swap it with the i7-990x Extreme 3.46GHz (Six-Core).
-
Thanks theriko, I'm looking into this, thanks for the info. How did you go about creating a backup solution before flashing, as the examples I see there for creating the crysis disk is for Acer I think.
Cheers,
Rhett -
Unfortunatly, I don't have access to the first release BIOS, only the updates. So until there is an update for the W150HRM BIOS, I'm not usefull, sorry.....
-
Ok no worries, you're still the best, keep up the great work, everyone really appreciates your help..
Cheers,
Rhett -
If these models use amibios8 like the P150 and P170 do then you can dump the original bios with the AFU app (ami firmware utility), the command line windos and dos version dumps the bios with /o
Theres also a windows GUI version but you need a usb keyboard/mouse plugged in while using it. -
Hey guys, my NP 8130's BIOS version is 04.06.04. Is it the newest version?
-
Check it from the bios setup menu to get the actual revision, 4.6.4 is just the amibios reference version and not the actual bios rev.
-
How to check it? Or could you please provide me the latest BIOS link?
-
Hit F2 at startup to go into the bios setup, it says on the first screen what bios and EC firmware rev you have.
The latest Clevo bios is 1.01.11 and EC 1.00.07, if you're on a Sager badged machine you have a Sager variant bios and EC which is slightly different from the standard Clevo bios, The splash logo is the biggest difference. -
Thanks for the clarifications. I'll check it when I get home later. Thanks a bunch.
Btw, I just pm you few minutes ago. Please check your inbox. Thanks! -
Hi guys is there something new for Clevo P170HM ? I'm interested mostly in fan control fix.
Actually I have:
BIOS 1.01.06
EC/KBC 1.00.05 -
BIOS should be up to date, EC no idea...
-
Sager NP5165/W150HRM
MB Series: W150HRM
Bios: 1.01.03
KBC/EC: 1.00.01SA
Any update for this one? -
Do you have VT-x? as my bios version for the W150HRM is 1.01.02 I think and it doesn't enable VT-x.
-
Hello friends!
My NB has VN896 chipset and Bios Revision M660SE 1:00:13.
This system supports 4GB of RAM memory? -
I have the same Bios and EC. But what do you mean by fan control fix?.
De fan speed going up and down?Even if its in idle?
thx -
It is a loud fan running idle problem. I have the same. Very annoying at the movies and the web.
P150HM is an update to this problem but 170HM still not. -
What is the latest official BIOS for NP8150?
where can I get it from?
Right now i ave:
BIOS:1.01.08LS1
EC: 1.00.05SA1
Thanks! -
A ok . Than i have the same problem..Its annoying for me to specialy for the web.
.
Lets hope on a fix..
THX -
Thats the latest Sager branded bios and EC for it.
The latest generic Clevo is bios 1.01.11 and EC 1.00.07 though you'll likely see Sager have a newer bios out fairly shortly since 1.01.11 is when they added support for the GTX 560M which will be the base card in these models here soon.
You can flash the Clevo bios but there are differences with it though minor, first thing you'd notice is no Sager splash screen. -
Hey guys,
why is there no Bios/EC update for the B5130M?
I'm already waiting months to get that noisy fan fixed...
I'm really disappointed in Clevo's Bios-Support ! -
thanks for the info.
I'll be waiting for the official Sager update then
.
Any link where I can look it up? -
Right now the only way to get the Sager Bios/EC updates is to request them from their tech support, you can email them a request with your serial number.
They're reluctant to simply post the updates on the downloads since the updating carries risks and the apparent touchy nature of their new bioses in it's current state, they said they'd be posting updates on the site if/when they can make them more user friendly/safer. -
pkhetan, something I realised today which I should have noticed the other day is that I actually have the W170HR model but I have a W150HRM bios. Is this unusual? Should I have the W170HR bios? What do you recommend?
Thanks,
Rhett -
No it does not.
-
I have a W150HNQ and it seems to support VT-x (see attachment)... can anyone explain me why is that?
I don't know my BIOS version, I remember seeing it as "shadowed", but maybe it simply wasn't the right place to look for it. Where do you check it?
I don't have the laptop with me right now, but I could take a look later... -
I see your sig you say you have the 2720QM, I wonder if on the W150 laptops if there is a difference in if your virtualization is on depending on the cpu you have.
-
Try running a 64-bit guest in VirtualBox, it'll tell you pretty quick if it's actually enabled or not, XP mode via Virtual PC doesn't actually have the hardware V requirement on it anymore.
I'd say thats a bit unlikely given the fact that all of the possible CPU choices have VT-x, if it's off for one more than likely it's going to be off for them all.
It does suck and hopefully a bios update down the line remedies it or someone manages to unlock the feature as tools for amibios8 pop up, I almost went with one of those machines and would've been greatly effected by the issue given my VM use. -
This is normal, all the W150HRM, W150HRQ, W170HR have the same BIOS
-
Is there a newer BIOS update for Clevo D900F than the one in: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/556299-clevo-bios-older-models.html
Mine came with 1.00.02aB pre-installed. But I'd like to swap out the CPU (current one is i7 950) with i7 980X so I've been told to update my BIOS first.
Also is it possible to get the BIOS as an .iso? Not sure I want to take any further risks with trying to make a bootable usb. -
I went through mine again, and pretty much the only options in my BIOS are: Bluetooth power, SATA Mode Selection, Legacy USB Support, Boot Logo, Power on Boot Beep, Battery Low Alart (yes, spelled this way in the BIOS) Beep and password
Ive got a ColorNote splashscreen when booting, or removing it shows the American Megatrends boot sequence. Nothing showing SAGER or Clevo. Can you guys show me a pic of the splash and menu's for your BIOS? Are yours Sager/Clevo branded or completely generic looking like mine? -
^ You have an original Clevo BIOS. Can't post Sager BIOS pics as I updated my BIOS to the latest Clevo too.
-
Is there any significant difference between the two, other than splash possibly?
I.E. Any reason to change to Sager for any other benefits or just stick with this? Also, any way to change the splash to a custom? -
My splash says "Style Note". Does it mean that my reseller got this chassis from this "Style Note" distributor or is it just an arbitrary splash from Clevo?
Note: i bought mine in Brazil, this distributor is european... -
Thats the default Clevo splash.
-
Mostly just the splash, I've found that the fan table changes are pretty much the same for both right now (EC controlled), as for custom splash you might need to wait for the various utilities capable of working with amibios8 hit the web.
I had one arbitrary difference between the Sager and Clevo bios in my experience, when I had the Clevo bios, adjusting volume via the hotkeys would minimize a full screen game, that didn't happen on my stock Sager bios or the updated Sager bios as bizarre as it sounds. -
Anyone know where I can find BIOS updates for the NP5165?
-

-
Hey, I was curious, do you have access to Clevo's E-channel?
If so, I would like to know if the P150HM BIOS dated to March 2011 is the latest one.
Thanks in advance -
Theres that one too.
-
Ahhh!!! you're the man Atmosk! Very cool, Thank you!
-
I just tested clevo EC firmware 1.00.07 and found that the fan table would cycle the fan up and down
Sager's EC firmware 1.00.05 has the constant fan table, not sure if there is an updated Sager 1.00.07? and if it still has a constant fan table? -
any news bios Clevo P170HM? which version is the latest?
-
So far here you have latest BIOS for Clevo P170HM http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/416916-clevo-bios-thread-129.html
-
IF YOU HAVE A SAGER BIOS (BIOS ends with letters and numbers like yours; the "LS2" part) I STRONGLY URGE YOU NOT TO UPDATE TO ANY CLEVO BIOS, please read this:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...0-50-factory-bios-dump-afu-2.html#post7559993
I hope this answers your question...
Heads up to everyone in this thread!!! -
This thread is in dire need of updates and I am all out of time. Maybe in one week time I will be able update everything.
As I said in the first post of this thread, it's best to get your BIOS from your reseller if you can and only get it from the thread if you don't have this option.
