Clevo BIOS Thread

So if i update my bios from sager to clevo, now i can only install clevo bios right?
Such are the differences between them?

Sager Bios would be better?

 

That's correct. There isn't much functional difference other than the splash screen though. You just can't go back and forth once you pick the Clevo bios over Sager.

Recently I just bought a Clevo P150HM
System BIOS 1.01.06 and EC firmware 1.00.04.

and I want to update the BIOS and EC firmware to the latest
System BIOS 1.01.11 and EC firmware 1.00.07.

it can be done by following the updating method by Blacky. Because this will be very new to me, what should I look out for? how to prevent from bricking it?

So I guess my question is, if I ordered a SAGER; why was mine installed with a stock Clevo BIOS? And in my case I'll have to continue with the Clevo as well correct?

Hi pkhetan, I'm back... Do you know what this bios resolved regards the W150HRM, do you know if it resolved the VT-x issue for the latest processors?

No, the BIOS won't fix the VT-X / VT-D issue (I've tested it on my Notebook), but I've heard, that Clevo will bringt up a new BIOS at the middle of June which will fix it:

Actually, that was just a recapitulation of the latest firmwares. Only the P170HM3 BIOS 1.01.02 and the X7200 BIOS 1.00.10 are new

I have an Origin EON 17-s (aka. Clevo P170hm chassis). In an effort to make sure my system is up-to-date I've requested the latest BIOS update. They're telling me that all I need is the BIOS file and that my current EC is fine.

File they sent me is 1.01.06TOPC
My EC is 1.00.03

Is this a 'valid' combination or do I need a later EC to safely flash? I trust my vendor, however since everyone else seems to be getting bios/ec packages it makes me a little nervous.

Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. When I questioned them on missing the EC updater, their response was... "this is exactly what we use here so it’s all you need". Am I missing something?

 

Some BIOS could be flashed even if the EC is older. The "EC before BIOS" rule is a general but not always. If I were you, I would flash the EC though, unless you have a non English keyboard.

it's not such an easy clevo read cd-usb but don't update the firmware.explain my self usb keep flashing agout 2-4 seconds and then stops.....i use the crisis methods for phoenix bios with usb and usb flopy(flopy don't start at all) i think the problem is that the recovery keys don't work fn+B,fn+A,FN+F,FN+W,FN+ESC and same with win key.............



what sould i do?

I have finally got to update the initial post! Pkhetan can you please check if I got all the BIOS and EC/KBC versions correct? I don't want to mess anything.

I've also added a big enough warning to users so that they know what happens if you update a Clevo Bios on a Sager branded laptop.

OK guys, I asked for the updated BIOS and EC for the W76xTUN a few pages back, hoping it would fix my fan problem (single fan for both cpu and gpu, everything works fine cpu related, but as for the gpu, the fan only kicks in at 85ºC, even on idle, and only in short bursts every 5 seconds or so), but unfortunately it didn't solve it. However, I was told to try some older ones, so I wanted to ask is someone get me those (assuming they would be all compatible when flashing).

Right now I already tried:

EC: 1.00.15, latest already, according to pkhetan.
BOIS: previously 1.02.25, now 1.02.27

 

Maybe someone here can shed some light on this situation for me. I just got my notebook back from Sager due to an RMA. Before I sent it in I had the latest Clevo BIOS and EC (1.01.06 & 1.00.05), however, I'm now noticing that on the setup screen it's reporting 1.01.07aNS1 for the BIOS and 1.00.05sa1 for the EC. Apparently Sager reflashed or something during the RMA process, but I still have the 'StyleNote' splash screen. How is it possible to have a Sager BIOS and not the splash? I haven't had any issues just wondering what the deal is. It's trivial but I honestly kind of miss that Sager splash.

I have no idea. Maybe they are changing their splash screen policy. Anyway, you have a newer BIOS .07 than the one in the first post .06.

Do you know the changelogs for 1.05 and 1.08 for the W1x0HNx BIOS images?

I tested them and got problems with the w-lan and now I downgraded back to 1.03 and the problems are gone. Is this a known problem?

I recently purchased the P150HM / 8150 with the 485M GTX graphics card and I noticed that the GPU fans tends to cycle on and off. Basically every 10-20 seconds the GPU fan will ramp up for 5-10 seconds then go off again and this cycling happens 4-5 times a minute.

does anyone know if there is a way to mod the BIOS for the X8100 to accept the GTX485M? The 480M is supported, but the 485M is only a "Unknown VGA" - Card at the view.

The Card itself runs without problem, (but is not recognized by the 275.33er nVidia Driver, the older 270.61 works with a modded Inf.

I have a Intel 920XM on the Board. With the Update to the *.14 BIOS the Intel Extreme BIOS Settings are gone. How i can get them back.

After flashing my w870cu with the 1.00.18 bios I cant enter bios anymore via F2, it says its entering but its booting to windows anyway.
Would forgetting to flash the EC V 1.00.14 be the reason for this?
And more importantly, is it wise to flash the EC V afterwards to try to fix it?

a couple of days ago I have asked the Sager Tech Support to send me the lastest version of BIOS/EC they have. Today I got an email from them containing 2 ISO files:
815bv11bs
815EC07

They have just mentioned how to install it but no info on the fixes/add-ons... even I can't tell what version it is.
Haven't installed it yet... anyone has any idea about what new fixes it brings and what the version number is?
