hi, does anyone have a bios for W76TH/W760TH i have flashed with the wrong bios and now have a black screen, wanted to try some kind of recovery

alright, heads-up concerning the THX issue:

finally got it to work by going back to the original Clevo version 1.03.01. Seems like I was playing around with a 1.03.01 and 1.04.03 version from Gigabyte / MSI, respectively, that did not include the activation shortcut, thus never really enabling the THX TruStudio Pro! So keep in mind: Once its activated, u can update to 1.04.03 version, but when u make a clean install of ur machine, start off with the original Clevo THX version!

hmm, trying to update my bios on the clevo p150.

but from the DOSboot and step1.bat it just turns off. ok..
step2.bat

this problem is showed. "Error 25: The host CPU does not have write access to the target flash area. To enable write access for this operation you must modify the descriptor settings to give host access to this region."

so, whats the problem? wrong bios? or something wrong with my jumpers?

Hi, I've Clevo W150HRM with these settings bios : Bios version 1.01.07 + KBC/EC 1.00.01. I would like to make an update. Have you some links please ? I found the bios 09 but there is just a file .09 and that's all. I don't know how install this file, none file .bat

I would but Clevo locked us out of every possible source of BIOS files. I kept saying here not to use their links but the mirrors in the initial post, now we have no access to new BIOS files.

i own a NP8180 and i want to flash it to a better BIOS than Sager's BIOS so which is the best solution and as i now i cant switch back to Sager's BIOS,Is there a reason to go back to Sager's BIOS? and how to flash it? and the download for the best BIOS.

Hello everyone! I have a NP8170-S1 and I'm looking for the BIOS update of it but I'm havin trouble finding it.

The thing is that according to my BIOS my laptop is not exactly P170HM but a P170HM x (note the x)

Therefore I do not dare install the Bios listed here as P170HM in case they are not the same. Has anyone tried it? does anyone know where to get BIOS update for my model?

If you just received it, you have the newest Bios. The machines haven't been out very long at all and it should come loaded with the newest bios by default.

You can´t OC on P150HM, not even XM CPUs, but we can keep your Turbo Boost running longer and at the top end of spec with a bios mod.

Latest NP8180 bios is in the first post, it´s the Clevo version called P180HM.

P170HMx is the base model name for P170HM & P170HM3. You have a P170HM, but you have a Sager bios, so it´s called NP8170 (just info, we found that it doesn´t matter on the P170HM, no matter what they told us). Your bios is up to date, but you could update your EC to version 09 (it´s in the first post of this thread).

A few days back Clevo sent bios 1.00.03 & EC 02 to resellers.
I would suggest you contact the company you bought it from.

It is the latest Clevo version bios for your model (it is not modded and I don´t know if it is any different to the latest Sager version)
The EC is what controls your keyboard, reads the temps and let the fans spin accordingly).
Flash the EC first then the bios.

Some time ago I bricked my NP8170 by upgrading the Bios but had it reflashed in a Sager factory. I now need to upgrade the Bios in preparation for my new HD7970M GPU install. Which Bios will be safe to upgrade to?

I know if you have a Clevo and flash to a Sager you might brick (happaned last time).

When I boot up my laptop the splash screen says 'Style note'.

In the Bios screen it says:

P170Hmx series
Bios Revision: 1.01.02
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.03

u ARE aware that the HM series is EOL and we thus are not gonna get any official bios support for new gpus such as the 7970m anymore right? any upgrades from here on out are gonna be inofficial and completely based on luck so no possibility to properly prepare for the 7970m by flashing a bios upgrade mate

You have a Clevo Bios, not a Sager (otherwise it would say LS1 or something behind the version).
You mostly bricked your machine, because of an unsupported EC and Bios combination. The Sager/Clevo difference is a Myth on the P170HM/NP8170, it's what they told you to make you feel guilty and is simply not true.

OK, you have a very old Bios & EC...here I made you a full update package!
It'll udate EC and Bios in one go without reboot, so can feel safe this time:

Yes I know but I figure having the most up to date Bios is a good idea when you are upgrading to a different GPU in general. 'Upgradeyourlaptop' say they are going to test these GPU's before shipping which will aid in peace of mind.

Prema I've just ordered a P150EM SE with a GTX675M from MALIBAL.

Is the BIOS in it ready for HD7970M installation or I'd have to flash it with a BIOS that's later than Late May?

 

That directly depends on what version of the BIOS + EC that you get. If its version 1.00.01 then yes yes you will need to flash, if its later than no you won't.

Hi Prema,

Would you by chance know if these BIOSes would be compatible with the Keynux YMax S7? It's apparently similar enough to the Clevo P170HM to the point that Clevo Europe names it in the title and HTML code of the P170HM page.

There will not be an official Bios that will support that GPU. Your only hope would be to ask 'Upgradeyourlaptop' to test it on that model. However, I don't remember much about your model, particularly if it can support a 100 watt GPU, whether it has MXM 3.0B and whether your power supply is enough.

 

If your model has no 3D screen then YES.

Based on your reply, I went ahead and updated, and it worked -- except the first time I powered to laptop on after the automatic power-off, it went on for only a second then off again. I then powered it on again, and this time it went on OK.

That's the same thing that happened after I updated too. Unfortunately, thats exactly the same behavior you get when a Bios has bricked your laptop too so it can be a bit worrying at first.
