I don't recommend XP 64bit, a lot of programs are not compatyble with it. If you wan't to use 64bit system use Windows 7 or Vista 64bit.

Did you do a clean install after that? XP refused to install from OEM XP SP2 disk with a BSOD. The ACPI error could have been fudged by pressing F7, but then the power issues (sound issues) might only appear after some way down the road. I'd suggest keeping an eye on that.

Again, I tried this 3 times and each time it BSOD'd. Maybe the XP installer is cr*p?

    Hi,

I'm thinking installing the Bios 0.19 for M570 TU : ISO that automatically installs the BIOS.

Do I need to install the EC/KBC V0.12 before or is all automatic with the new ISO of BIOS 0.19?

    I'm on Windows 7 32bitr

    Thx for your help

I've just updates my bios to v 0.19. Everything has been very simple with that automatic ISO. But, there is something strange: Before, in my previous Bios, I had to put it on XP OS to work with windows 7. Now, normally, the v 0.19 recognise Windows 7 BUT, when I set up my Bios on VISTA/WONDOWS 7, my computer is rebooting all the time.

I turned my BIOS v 0.19 on XP and it works again with windows 7... Strange...

That BIOS setting is horribly misleading. What it means is whether AHCI is turned on or not. If Windows (any version) was installed with it off (XP mode) then you need to enable it in the OS before the BIOS (Vista/7 mode). Google "enable AHCI Windows vista/7" if you want to activate it. Should give you slightly better hard drive access times & temps.

They are selling the Q9200 ES. Technically they shouldn't be selling it. But then again, most of the Clevo users that I know that bought from Clevo.fr received ES CPU's. Nobody wants to sound the alarm on them for selling an ES CPU at OEM prices.

    ftp://sftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M980NU/BIOS_06.zip

Should get you the latest Clevo M980 BIOS if the Sager site is down. I havent compared the checksum to see if there is any difference, but I doubt there will be with the same revision no.
PS. Link is a bit slow, so give it a minute or so to connect, it can be a bit tempermental as we're not even meant to be able to access the BIOS channel anymore (wonder if they have unlocked/beta BIOS in there now and thats why).

I see no reason why changing this link appropriately wouldn't allow you to download most Clevo BIOS.

The only difference will be the splash screen, Sager vs. Stlye Note.

an alternate link to try is ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M980NU/BIOS_06.zip if the other one is slow

Often you cant get into the direct ftp link as it asks for the password etc :)
Seems to depend on the Clevo servers mood at the time haha

Im keeping an eye out for newer BIOS personally, I always check that FTP every few weeks.

Hi to everyone, sorry for my bad english, I'm new in this forum, and I'm here because I've a issue to upgrade BIOS in my Clevo M860TU first revision v.3.0A... I know that in this first revision I cant upgrade a quad core cpu, but I can upgrade my gpu from 9800m GTS to GTX 260m...

The only problem Is know what bios install...What is the latest bios for first revision of m860tu?

actually my bios is 1.12 (Phoenix) that solved the whine noise issue of first revision of m860tu...

I seen in first post, about sager bios 0.17 with windows 7 support... I use windows 7x64 ultimate since october 09, but is there some reason to upgrade to 0.17 if it's the right bios for my revision?

Some one have the right latest bios (original by clevo) windows 7 compatible for first revision of m860tu?

Thank's in advanced...sorry for my english...

The 2 revisions use the same bios, so the .17 in the first post is the correct latest bios for you.

Make sure you flash the latest KBC/EC (0.13) BEFORE the bios.

Thank's I know that (about first post), but my notebook (It's not a Sager) is still under warranty, and I can not put a BIOS in which the mark appears Sager.

My dealer does not provide me with the bios of clevo m860tu, but I need to do the uprade. Someone can provide the latest version of the original bios Clevo x.17?

What about using the .16 one in the OP?
At least with the M980NU, the 'win7 support' bios SEEMS to just add the name to the Installed OS function.

If you NEED a generic BIOS, then you need to bug your reseller further, see if another reseller can provide it you, OR try guessing the filename on the clevo server and grabbing it via ftp.

You know you can just use the version 0.16 of the BIOS? 0.17 only adds Win 7 support. 0.16 should be just fine for you.

Here is the Clevo unbranded 1.02.17 BIOS with 1.00.13 KBC/EC firmware.

Boot into DOS, then run step1.bat to update EC firmware, reboot into DOS again then run step2.bat to update BIOS.
