That will not work, you will have to find the bios for your specific system, never flash a bios that is not specifically for your laptop.

It is not necessary to flash a new bios unless you are experiencing issues, the best place to get the latest bios for your system, is the seller you bought the laptop from.

That is the same with all Clevo Bios'

You will need to use Intel XTU to overclock the CPU and Windows XMP to overclock the RAM; in saying that you will need CPU/RAM that allows to be overclocked via software.

You may want to do what has been suggested over and over and over again. Contact whoever sold you the laptop and they will get you the BIOS you need, with the instructions. And if you want to use XTU they can help you with that too. They are PAID to do this, it's their job. Go give them something to do while sitting at the office staring at their phone or their workbench, whatever.

Seems to be a common issue with the latest ec version. I have a Sager 9150/Clevo P150EM and the same issue with the latest ec. You might want to tell your reseller about it so that it gets fixed in the next update.

Here is a link with a thread discussing this:

I was actually having issues BEFORE I installed this update, my FN keys for brightness and volume were not functioning and the keyboard would not remember my backlight configurations, note: I was still on EC/EKB 1.00.6 and Bios 1.00.6, once I updated to EC/EKB 1.02.12 and Bios 1.02.14; everything fixed itself, not bluetooth light and all FN keys and functions working as they should, one thing that also helped once was System restoring my friend's laptop, a few of the new windows updates will mess with the registry that controls the FN key functions.

    Hi!

Will be appreciate if someone could help me to recover Clevo P370EM. (I think it has AMI Aptio Bios)
What is this magic key combination to recover from USB? And this magic file name for bios rom?
Also there are two files: bios(6 mb) and EC(4 mb), which of them I need to use?

hello everyone! I have a problem and I am looking for a solution :). after searching for hours in the web, I am still stuck. clevo p170hm, 6990m. winflash operation ended with "cancelled". after restart the notebook was bricked, no post, no display output, no booting into windows. a guy from switzerland sent me a programmed bios chip which we soldered on the card. the notebook display is still black, "atiflash -f -p -newbios (same result without this option) 0 bios.rom" doesn´t do anything. atiflash -i (and -ai) contains this info:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------ ATIFLASH v3.99 Log File ------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Sun Oct 3 01:08:55 2010
    Command Operation without options: -i

adapter bn dn dID asic flash romsize test bios p/n
    ======= == == ==== =============== ============== ======= ==== ================
    0 01 00 6720 Barts Unknown SPI 10000 0000 -
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------ ATIFLASH v3.99 Log File ------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Sun Oct 3 01:09:21 2010
    Command Operation without options: -ai

    Adapter 0 (BN=01, DN=00, PCIID=67201002, SSID=71001558)
    Asic Family : Barts
Flash Type : Unknown SPI (64 KB)
    No VBIOS

I cannot flash the gpu with the correct bios. I do not see what the error is, as my screen is blank and the -log option does only create a 0kb file. saving the current bios from the gpu to a logfile creates a 64kb file containing nothing but "NUL", that´s what notepad++ let´s me see. I am totally stuck. the file "bios.rom" is the correct bios for the gpu which I want to flash. the other file is from "atiflash -s",the file with "NUL". I dont believe the card is broken, is there any chance to get the vbios into it?

Just realised that sager sent me P170EM_SAGER_BIOS_1.02.14bLS3 but the EC they sent is P170EM_SAGER_EC_1.00.00.11SA . Shouldn't the .00 be .02 on the EC too?

To me it sounds like the chip that you got was not properly programmed or something happened during soldering. It should already post.

    Hello everyone,

Any ideas how to flash bios with dead battery? I have clevo w870cu and when trying update bios i get ''No Battery'' error. I read in Dell you could use /forceit command, just wondering can it be applied to clevo computers. If not, anyone with knowledge could explain ways around (buying new battery would be last resort). Any advice would be much appreciated.

I never had a battery for my P150HM, have flashed the bios many times with no problems.

Have you tried just removing the battery?

    Help please.

    Clevo P370EM.

How to flash BIOS by programmer?
There are 2 flash chips on the motherboard: mx25l3206e (4Mb) & mx25l1606e (2Mb). (If I have correctly identified the BIOS and EC chips.)
Which of them is BIOS and which is EC?

Also there are 2 rom files: EC (6 Mb) & BIOS (4 Mb).
How to write those roms into chips? - size of files does not match the size of the memory on those chips.

I have a newly bought Malibal P150EM SE, i.e a clevo P150EM with these bios and EC:
    BIOS Revision: 1.02.14
    EC: 1.02.11

Is it possible to install an EC/Bios that swaps the fn key with the windows key for me?

If you have a new machine with a Windows 8 key, then no. That's built into the keyboard. Doesn't matter if you have a Clevo or a Sager. Actually the BIOS that Malibal would use does have it switched, if you had the Windows 7 keyboard. You want that changed, get a Windows 7 keyboard.

Also keep us updated on your service from Malibal please. 1). Because Malibal CS stories usually end up being highly entertaining. 2). See if they changed anything in the past few years of hilariously bad CS.

    Thanks

Ok, then you can try and install the Sager BIOS. It's posted in this thread. Look for it. You need to do both the EC and BIOS.

    Boot into pure DOS

    EC First.

Shut it down. Take out batter. Unplug. Wait 10 seconds. Plug back in, put battery in.

Turn back on, boot into Pure Dos again.

    Run MESET.exe (auto-reboot)

    Flash BIOS

Shut it down. Take out batter. Unplug. Wait 10 seconds. Plug back in, put battery in.

Turn on. It will restart 3 times and the check in CMOS that it all went OK.

Oh, please call Malibal and ask them to help you with this. I'd like to know if they get angry and say, return the laptop and here is your refund.

Why would they? These are gaming machines, not corporate crud that are sold by Dell/HP etc for $200 each.

Anyway, the concept of it is pretty dumb, how do you lose a laptop? A kensington lock can be had for $25. And why would you leave you laptop somewhere unattended? It's pretty stupid.

If it really matters, pony up $30 for lojack. But I think, not being an idiot and losing your laptop is a better plan.

You have misunderstood my posting. I do not want and do not need a Computrace support. Some people only want to know the functionality of the BIOS security-option 'Intel Anti-Theft'. Once activated is there a BIOS deamon hooking a running service in the operation system (as Computrace does)?

Don't know, don't care. I have never lost a laptop, don't know anyone who has. Not a feature I want Clevo to waste their time and money on. It's probably the lowest thing on priority on for me as I have no plans to be the idiot that loses his laptop.

I only want to know whether the Clevo BIOS supports Computrace and has a Computrace deamon implemented. And whether the security option 'Intel Anti-Theft' permanently activates this spying function.

Long story short, is Computrace implemented or not?

Some stock Clevo BIOS have "Intel Anti-Theft" enabled and some don't. Though all my BIOS Mods have it, so you can use Intel Anti-Theft Service, Computrace LoJack, McAfee Anti-Theft or Norton Anti-Theft, which are just softwares.
There is nothing like a Computrace BIOS or McAfee BIOS, all of them require " Intel Anti-Theft" in BIOS to function.

Is there any official statement from Clevo about this 'Intel Anti-Theft' function? And why is this function already activated when delivered by resellers? Can this function permanently deactivated by the setting 'disabled'?

Many questions. We don't want to have any spying function running in the background. Take a look at Dell devices delivered with Computrace activated and submitting personal datas frequently.

That's an old model, you may be able to find an updated BIOS for that in the thread for older models.

Intel Anti-Theft is built into the CPU. It's not a Clevo feature. You can turn it off I believe. And you have to activate the service in Windows too for it to work I believe.
