Thank you very much Prema !

Hello,
I really like your work here. I am having some bios issues with my laptop and so I would like to ask you where can I find the latest Bios and KBC/EC for W251HNQ-C.
MB Series: W25xHNx
Bios Version: 1.01.07
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.06
I manually updated some time ago to add VT support. Although I have a Battery Low Alert Beep option it does not seem to work at all. Also it is spelled wrong, Alart instead of Alert. -
You have the latest BIOS & EC for that model...
-
Thank you Prema for the very fast reply. Do you have any idea why this battery option does not work and is also spelled wrong?
I also looked your Bios mods webpage, great work there. Are there any plans to support the W25xHNx MB Series? -
With the option on it beebs earlier with the option off just the last 30 seconds or so.
It's spelled wrong because Clevo is from Taiwan...
Regarding a mod for that model idk, right now I have simply no time and like one new model request each day in my mail...
-
I have noticed that with the option disabled it beeps when the battery goes below 5%. Especially with a new battery though this could mean like 10 minutes of usage. I seems that there is no way to change that so ok...
-
There will be no new BIOS for that model, its EOL.
-
Oh ok, thank you Prema for all your help.
-
hello, can any one inform me on my BIOS and ec? I have a Clevo p150hm but from what i can see my BIOS is from american megatrends version 4.6.4. Can this be correct? i thought the newest was BIOS V 1.02.14.
tried speaking to my re-seller but not much luck at the moment. -
That's for EM, not HM. There is no new BIOS for HM as far as I know.
-
Thanks, didnt notice that. I should pay more attention. Didnt realize my model is the older version.
-
on boot, repeatedly press f2 in rapid succesion to enter bios, thats where ull find info on which bios and ec version u have installed right now. the most current versions are 1.01.14 bios and 1.00.13 ec.

How do you tell if you have sager or clevo bios.
CPUZ reports as Clevo
But I have splash screen of sager?
I currently have
BIOS Revision: 1.00.110C.LS3
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.08
Is that the lastest for X8100? -
Sager usually uses LSx after their BIOS name...
Latest stock Clevo EC is 08
Latest stock Clevo BIOS is 14 -
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
So you linked clevo? Once I do that I can't go back?
-
Or... You could email Sager tech support for the latest BIOS. Wow, I think it even says that on their website. Yup, it does. Yes it does.

BIOS 1.02.11.zip - (This will give you a BTO logo bios splash)

Great, thanks! -
Nevermind, found a fix.
-
Hi !
I updated my mirror : Index of /clevo-mirror
There are new files for W110ER, W25CEW, W2xCZ, and W2xxEU. -
Is there no BIOS/EC mods that change the functionality of the Windows 8 keyboards on the NP9170 to have the Windows key on the right and Fn key on the left? Sager gave me a couple EC files, but neither of them worked.
-
Hello
I have a P370EM
If i wanted to update my Bios, how should I do it after downloading the files?
(and what would be the best Bios and Ec versions?)
Or should I send an email directly to Clevo requesting it?
Regards -
Contact your reseller for the BIOS. it should come with very easy to do and understand instructions. If any issues, an visit PREMA's blog that has great instructions on how to flash your BIOS.
-
Hello mate! thanks for the reply. I checked the blog but I think there's no Bios for P370EM there... it has for several others like w370 or p170, but not for p370em (also known as NP9370)
Thanks! -
Hello!
I have Clevo W170ER notebook. Since it is bought in Russia it comes under DNS brand with slightly modified BIOS (may be just the pix on load). To keep the guaranty I want to backup current BIOS before I update to the last Clevo version and here two questions rises:
1. How can I backup current version of BIOS?
2. Do I need to backup EC firmware too in order to flash the old version of bios? And if it required, then how?
-
CONTACT YOUR RESELLER FOR THE BIOS. Prema's site has guides for installing BIOS, and it works the same for all of them.
-
Even if you manage to get the correct dump, all the same downgrading (decrease firmware) this dump will turn your laptop into a brick. ...I'm sure for 99%!
But if you still need it, then examine the contents of this archive : http://ami.com/support/downloads/amiflash.zip
...and see this message http://forum.ixbt.com/topic.cgi?id=17:43655-45#1464
Moderators, maybe the time has come to close this thread, and let us all "CONTACT YOUR RESELLER FOR THE BIOS", as it offers great hulawafu77 ) -
The warning about downgrading is in the instructions that come with the BIOS and in the first post of this thread.
- And it is also in the first post recommendation you contact your reseller for the BIOS.
- And I believe for the most part, it's also stated on Clevo reseller/builder's websites.
But if they read the first post they would know this and would see the BIOS uploaded. Just means they haven't read the OP, which is odd. Usually the first thing one should do to know what the thread is about.
- And the OP is only updated as people who contact their reseller upload the BIOS/EC for others to use. Which again, emphasis, contact your reseller if you want the latest, as this thread may not be updated for the latest.
- And a lot of people asking how to flash their BIOS, asking the reseller not a bad idea either considering it's part of the cost of the notebook, support. -
Well put!
Maybe more will hear you. -
Thanks for answering but... just one question. What is your position in DNS?
I am not impressed about DNS support but I will try to contact them... ;D
The result I will publish here.
Thanks for you answer! Really. Now I will think twice before updating the BIOS during guarantee period and if I really need it. Also although I am an IT person I am not familiar with such things, so I do not want to downgrade/backup it anymore.
The reason why I did not read this part of the first topic is that the heading says "!!!In the attention of all Sager users!!!". It looks like everything what is in red and written below just for the Sager users. ;(

What's the newest bios and ec for p150em?
-
Blacky, FYI the link for the latest P170EM BIOS is pointing to the EC file, should be http://blacky.bestmail.ws/CLEVO BIOS/P170EM/P170EM_B14.zip
-
Ups. Sorry. Just corrected that.
-
Well. I have version 1.00.03DN BIOS now. I’ve checked their site and then called: no newer BIOS available from DNS reseller. And for 99% there will be no upgrades. So, are you still sure that this thread should be closed? Some resellers like DNS do not care much about customer support. They simply want to sell...
-
Some people indeed have friendly resellers that provide you with the latest BIOS, others have resellers that hardly care about what happens after you buy your laptop, this applies very well to many resellers outside the US. There are also a number of resellers that went bankrupt and ... well they will never offer BIOS updates (my case). This thread is, just like it was initially stated, a backup for those who are in trouble. It is also a place to discuss BIOS issues and because of it other users got interested in the subject and together we've learned a lot of things about how do deal with BIOS updates, downgrades and turning on hidden options in the BIOS (there are a lot of spinoffs from this thread).
Generally speaking, with the exception of Sager, the BIOS files that you find on this thread are the same as those offered by resellers. However, the reason why I insist on contacting resellers for your BIOS, is that they also offer you support on how to update your BIOS, what you need to do in advance and other such things which are specific to your notebook. Also, in case you manage to brick your laptop, if you got your BIOS through them then the issue should be covered by your warranty. So all in all, there are advantages for getting the BIOS through resellers, but as I said, not everyone is as lucky, in fact many aren't. -
Hi,
I have a P170EM, and am wondering what features the latest bios give which are specific to windows 8? I want to upgrade to windows 8, but have heard this latest bios has some keyboard related bugs so am unsure whether to wait for a new one to come out, or just upgrade to windows 8 regardless... is it just secure boot? Not sure i'm too fussed about that! -
The only keyboard bug I'm aware of, is the LED indicator for BlueTooth doens't work.
But actually for Sager at least, there are TWO BIOS. One specific for Windows 8 and the other Windows 7. I know for MySn they don't make any distinction, just one BIOS. Anyway, but yes, the BIOS updates are mainly for secure boot support.
Is it worth it? Definitely. The current biggest threat to Windows are root kits. That's why Malwarebytes and other security companies in the past few months have released root kit beta software. A lot of Internet Security products don't have any solutions for root kits still, actually majority of them don't.
Secure Boot stops root kits. They prevent root kits from affecting your machines important OS files. It's awesome. -
Ok thanks for that, I think I'll skip the bios update then, just did some research on it, and it stops the loading of unsigned drivers too! That's crap considering you almost need to support that with the 7970m in there... Although I am security conscious I've not had a rootkit or a virus yet cos I'm careful with what I do..

Hey guys, I just updated my P150EM from Malibal to 1.02.14 BIOS (provided by my reseller, its the right BIOS.) However, on my system, it is incompatible with the latest Hotkey program 6.00.56. If Hotkey is running with the new BIOS, the system cannot change power states. I.E. Shut down, reboot, sleep, or hibernate. It goes to a black screen that requires killing the power by holding the power switch. I uninstalled and reinstalled Hotkey but that didnt fix it, so I know it is simply incompatible with the new BIOS. I believe the Powerbiosserver service that Hotkey runs is the possible culprit as well and it needs to be updated.
Does anyone else have this incompatibility? If so, it is a bug that needs to be reported to Clevo. I would still like to use the Hotkey program to manage my notebook's features.
Any feedback would be great. Thanks! -
I have the latest bios and my hotkey program works fine. Power states work too. Maybe there is a driver conflict somewhere, which may require a re-installation.
-
Nope, but then that's because I installed the Windows 8 version not the Windows 7 you have.
Hotkey_W8_8.0082 -
Mine has just been updated to 1.02.14 few days ago, using hotkey 6.00.30 and doesn't have the problem you mentioned and Fn key/Windows key are working as they should, I'm using Windows 7 64 bit though.

Any links to latest p370em Bios?
