Yes I have 7970M and I have the absolute latest of everything, all drivers, firmwares, BIOS etc. AMD did not fix it. Just like Nvidia still have to run a temp sensor to get it to shut off after.

Ah, ok. I have 680M myself, so just presumed that it was fixed since somebody reported it on this forum.

Change your power settings. Go to Control Panel and click on the power icon. There you can change the settings for processor. Set it to 100% for on battery.

You are also on battery. You can't run these hardware at full voltage and power. You could try using Throttlestop, but I don't see the point, you'd have like 15 minutes of battery. And there is no BIOS option that will change that, unless maybe you can custom mod yours. No idea. But either way, it does that for a reason and a good reason.

Yes its work when im on battery with Throttlestop so its not a bios limitation... ??

i want to use my pc with 2.4ghz when some appli need cpu power... but when its not necessary i want the cpu underclock automatically... even im on battery

I was thinking all laptop do it... on battery or on charge...

thx for you idea and answer

Hey Prema, thanks for all of your continued help and support!

Anyone with a Sager np9370 have any experience with this BIOS? I really the manual fan control, but i was wondering would this render the fans 100% manual all the time, or would they operate normally with the option of kicking it up to 100% on command?

Guys is there a newer version out for the old Sager 8150 models?
The last one seems to be EC/KBC V 1.00.13 & BIOS V 1.01.14. Anything newer than this?

    Thanks

Hey Prema, I have a question for you... But first I'd like to thank you for your initial release of BIOS mods for the P-EM series! I am very appreciative for your hard work!

I am enjoying your mods at the moment, but was curious if I could change the boot image? I have a thing for the 'stock' Sager look, although the image right now is pretty cool! I was previously using a Clevo base, since it was the newest, then using "Change Logo" to replace the rather ugly Clevo bios image with the Sager one... However, when I try to do the same with your singular package MOD for both the EC/BIOS, I am getting an error in regards to the size... The exact error is,
    Code:
"Logo size 65535x65535 exceeds BIOS maximum size 32768x32768. Do you want to replace the logo?"
I am not sure whether it is safe to flash my modified package now, after that error... Thank you in advance for your help/guidance!

PS: I couldn't use the BMP image extracted directly from the Sager BIOS, because your MOD was asking for a replacement JPEG, not a BMP... So I converted it using GIMP, so maybe that is where things went wrong? I attached the original BMP image, in case you wanted to take a look!

Found something interesting after flashing my P150EM's EC to P170EM's EC though, with P150EM EC after a session of Crysis 3 the temperature normally reaches 92C on my 3740QM, with the P170EM EC there seems to be another tier of Fan RPM (3940RPM) when it reaches 85C as a result every now and then after a session of Crysis 3 the maximum temperature my 3740QM gets to is only 87C, pretty interesting.

Does anybody know of a BIOS/EC that has better fan profiles for the 7970m? Currently the fan only spins to 100% when the temperature reaches around 95 C. Otherwise it stays at 35% and the temps get up to the high 80s/low 90s. I have a P150EM bare bones. Current BIOS is 1.02.16 and EC is 1.02.11. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with high 80's/low 90's. If you want it to be cooler to possibly gain O/C headroom, then use FN+1 if you can or use the mod which adds FN+9.

Ok so I can go from Sager BIOS to Clevo BIOS, but I can't go back to the Sager BIOS once I am running Clevo? Is there any advantage to running Clevo vs Sager's BIOS? For instance if I switch and flash my BIOS with Clevo's, will it turn off optimus? Cause I really find optimus useless. Thanks for this well written guide. I love it.

theres no turning off optimus in the clevo EM series, since all video signals go through the integrated GPU. there actually is an off-switch coded into the BIOS, which other NBR users have identified, but once u turn it on u wont have any video signal anymore :p

Does Sager add in a separate section of firmware? Their BIOS's display different information on the main screen of the BIOS, such as an "ME FW Version", The Processor Type and speed, it excludes the Video BIOS string. Also, it must be possible to custom edit the BIOS on these machines, either that or another company has enabled RAID 0/1 on the P150EM, which neither Clevo or Sager allow. They only allow a recovery drive on this system.

Where would I find an editor if there was one? Even for out of warranty BIOS mods? These are AMI BIOS's, so using a Phoenix editor seems counter intuitive.

Does anyone know if a bios update fixes DPC lag for me (audio stuttering and system becoming sluggish when there's a lot of wireless activity, especially when copying files over the network)?

My notebook is a Clevo P170HM (from BTO)
    Bios: 1.01.02TNB
    EC: 1.00.05

Since I have just found this BIOS thread (like many others here), I was hoping that someone out there that can please explain what are the advantages of updating our Clevo/Sagers to the new BIOS updates from Sager?
I asked them to send me them, which they did, but I still have not found out completely what are the benefits of installing and updating the new Sager BIOS.
Since I have not done this yet on my 9150 since owning it for almost a year now, I am a little hesitant on doing this, due to bricking my machine if I screw this up.
In perusing the many dozens of pages within this thread, it would seem that Battery life is improved somewhat according to what was said, but are there other reasons as well for updating to the new BIOS?

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

It's mostly for Windows 8 and enables UEFI and secure boot. Honestly, it's not hard to pick up the phone or email Sager for a changelog.

But if you are already paranoid and if it works, then don't upgrade. If you are that paranoid about bricking, maybe you shouldn't do it.

Remove your battery if on A/C. That should help with DPC Latency. MS Battery drivers are notoriously bad for latency. MS ACPI Battery drivers have sucked since 2006, and every notebook I've had in the past it was the culprit for latency issues. The downside of disabling it is you don't have the power icon in the taskbar anymore. But if you use the Clevo Hotkey software or just use a dock with a shortcut to power, not too big of a deal.

Sager and Clevo BIOS are not the same and is recommended you do not switch back and forth between them. Pman is wrong.

Sager puts in requests to have some things in the BIOS changed. And Sager also get the latest changes to BIOS before the other brands too. So if you want the latest BIOS from Clevo, good chance Sager has it. PREMA referred to Sager as Clevo's beta testers.

It might be this one: M746TU

But it's best to ask your reseller, otherwise you risk bricking your laptop.
