I knew why I wanted to update my BIOS, so check there, and I knew I would easily understand and carry out specific instructions. A BIOS update shouldn't mean so much if it was only meant for people who knew the basic commands for DOS already. I've updated the BIOS in other computers before but I never had to use DIR, CD and other DOS commands to update. Everything usually just ran off the bat (hm...no pun intended) after I booted to the disc/USB drive. I think it is just Clevo BIOS files that aren't well packaged for people who aren't familiar with DOS. But now that I know, it is more fun updating. Using the commands make me feel like I am controlling the matrix.

Hi guys, i recently updated to windows 8.1 and got the secure boot watermark. I tried to remove it in the bios and press optimize default or something like that where it said to load default settings and then when it restarted, laptop cannot find the hdd. Its now showing the pce-e61 error, saying it does not see the hard drive but when i open the bios settings i still see it the in the boot options.

I need help, is reformatting the only solution?

    Hi guys.
    I have a question regarding a Baycom 2700T notebook.
I recently got a new harddisk for this (old) notebook: Festplatte Solid State Disk (SSD) -MLC- 128GB PATA für Baycom 2700T - ipc-computer.de and I am unable to start from this disk.... i.e. the windows recovery cd finds the disk + I can browse the files e.g. under C:\Windows etc...
But when I start the notebook it won't start from that SSD disk.... therefore I thought it has something to do w/ the bios. I tried to play w/ the BIOS (boot priority etc) settings but nothing helped so far.

Do you think by upgrading the bios to a newer version the SSD will be recognized (on boot)? My BIOS version:
    2482-00 R1.03
    SystemSoft Ver 1.17.01 from 10/22/97 - Bios Version 1.00.03
    Baycom 2700T
(BiosAgentPlus says: SystemSoft MobilePro BIOS Version 1.01, Chipset SiS 630 rev 49, SMC 869 rev 0 at port 03F0, Manufacturer: KAPOK)

Do you think upgrading the BIOS would help to solve my problem? Which BIOS should I use/download/install? Can you give me the exact link?
Should I update it via Floppy?

    Thank you very much

    Hi,

New update to my mirror !
    Index of /clevo-mirror

They are new BIOSes for a lot of recent models : check for files with « New_FW » in their names.

    Hi,

Hoping you guys can help me with a problem.......

I have a Clevo Notebook which will not save date and time, replaced battery for CMOS and still the same, I was advised that to flash / update bios might help.

The Notebook model is a C480 but the product code is C4800 .... looking at the mirror for the bios there is a download for the 4800........ the start up screen gives me the following info

    Phoenix Trusted Core
    C4800 BIOS Revision: 1.00.D7-VBIOS T1
    KBC/EC Firmware Revision 1.00.D2

So had a look at the files available for the C4800 and I cant tell which MB I have..... I have tried both from a bootable USB but get an error "cant find bios.wph"

This is where im at so any pointers would be great, happy to provide additional info if needed

    Thanks

    Josh

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I have solved the issue..... The battery I replaced had the positive and negative reversed !!

I found a thread on this forum where they had the same problem, with the service manual you have on your downloads I was able work this out :) made the changes and all is working as it should.

Thanks again for your help and contribution to this forum as it did help.

Although this is not exactly the right place, I would like to ask Josh67 a question. I tried to send you a PM, Josh, but you aren't accepting any PM's. I have a D901C and I too am trying to replace my CMOS battery, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to disassemble the case to get to it. I'm sure it is simple, but for some reason I am just not seeing it. Could you tell me step by step how to disassemble the case to get to the CMOS Battery? Thanks. I apologize for going off topic, but I don't know any other way to try to contact you.

    Hey Guys,

I have a big problem with updating my ec firmware from my clevo P170SM.

    Stock EC Firmware is 1.00.D2

Tried to updating to higher firmware, it always works for one reboot, the correct firmware version displays in bios, but as soon as I detach the AC, the bios version downgrades fully automatically back to 1.00.D2. how is this possible ?

I tried to flash E04 E06 and newer EC Firmware --- the firmware works until the ac is disconnected.

The flash itself in native dos is error free and succesfully all the time. I dont understand this. Maybe its an hardware error ? Is there an flash protection jumper of the ec firmware?

the bios update itself worked good, even after an ac disconnect. the correct version is displayed.

I'm having an awful hard time understanding what is the latest bios and EC for p157sm. Could someone help me out please? Currently running EC 1.00.04 and Bios 1.00.07

I downloaded the BIOS from here, directory ohne_XMG_logo http://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_P503_und_P703/BIOS/XMG_P503/ as this is where i got the laptop from and they directed me to this link. Keep in mind the laptop is not XMG branded and was bought as a barebone with no branding whatsoever (software or hardware). Are these latest bios/ec available or are there newer ones ?

LE: From what I can tell, looking in the mirror on the first page P15xSM_B09.zip is the latest bios zip file (same b09 as the one in the mysn link) and different EC versions. On the first page I see a P15xSM_E06.zip and in mysn I can see only E04. What do I do next? :)

If the XMG 503 is the same as the P157SM, then yes, you can use that BIOS. As long as your laptop is not a Sager branded one.

Mine is not branded in any way, nor xmg, nor anything else. My main issue is that I cannot identify which exactly are the files, latest ones, for both bios or ec. Plus I still have to decide what is the exact flashing procedures. On mysn I get different instructions that on this thread here.

That URL points to a 404 for me..

I'm also not exactly sure on the flashing process. I made a bootable USB stick and put in the updated EC and BIOS files that myx posted, but the files names don't seem to correspond with the flashing instructions in this thread (there's no step1.bat or step2.bat, just ecflash.bat, flashme, bat, and FLASH.bat, along with other stuff). Needless to say I'm not going to try anything just yet until I'm 100% on the correct procedure, but any help would be appreciated.

If you got it from MYsn it's XMG. So it is branded.

Only if you get it straight from Clevo it would be unbranded.

I'm telling you it's not branded. They sell also barebones, that's how I got mine. no hdd, no ram. XMG doesn't have the option for no hdd, no ram.

But yea, the one that seems to be latest leads to a 404 file not found.

On the mysn website I get the following instruction for flashing EC/Bios. This can be achieved only if you disable UEFI booting in bios, or at least hasn't worked any other way for me. I didn't go through with the flashing process, just tested the bootable stick.

    1. Plug in AC adaptor.
    2. Enter CMOS setup to disable "Intel Anti-Theft Technology" if the item is available.
    3. Run Meset.exe under pure DOS environment, system will restart automatically.
    4. Run flashme.bat under pure DOS, system will shut down automatically.
    5. Plug off AC adapter for 5 seconds then plug in AC adapter.
    6. Power on system, the system will restart automatically.
    7. Enter CMOS setup to check BIOS version and load system default, save changes and reboot.
    8. If the original BIOS settings are different from system default, please enter CMOS setup to change BIOS settings before system loads Windows.

LE: After sending an email to mysn they said even though my system is not XMG branded I can safely use the XMG bios/ec as there are no differences between the p157sm and xmg p503.
These files are available on their ftp:

    www.mysn.de - /driver/XMG/XMG_P503_und_P703/BIOS/XMG_P503/

To be flashed with the instructions listed above. The version numbers seem to correspond to those in the mirror on the first page (where the files are unavailable).

They did not mention anything about the flash order. And those instructions listed above are strictly for bios. In the EC archive there are just 3 files, a bat, an exe and the ec file. What now? :)

In the mirror in the first link the instructions are as follow : 3. Please refer to text files readme_1st.txt, readme.txt and readme_EC.txt to update firmware.

I'd love to put my hands on those readme files.

Does anyone know why the EC firmware for Clevo P157SM was updated twice this week? First release (same data as BIOS) was 11Nov and the update was 15Nov for the EC (1.3.01 subname TR). Any risk of bricking the computer with the original EC firmware? The EC on the P157SM seams to be some special component without a recovery procedure. The 1.3.01 BIOS is listed as Windows 8.1 compatible. These 2 new firmware are not listed on Clevo mirror but available from XMG manufacturer. http://www.mysn.de/secure/userarea/...03QQBIOSQQXMG_P503QQXMG-P503_EC_1.03.01TR.zip

    Hi all !

I just wanted to let you know that last week, I have improved my mirror : now there are more informations displayed with each file, and I have added photograph of the computers.
The updating of my mirror is now fully automatic : if you think files have been added, let me know and I can update it quickly :)

Hey guys, i've not done a bios update before, i am pretty worried about doing this lol. Basically i bought a laptop from pcspecialist.com, as long as i have had it, it's been getting too hot on a lot of games and it only gets worse. On PCspecialist the laptop was called Vortex III. It isn't on there anymore as it was removed in place of Vortex IV now. I spoke to pcspec through email three times now and every time they just ask the same questions, i explain and say i want a bios update. Then they just stop replying to me and ignore the emails. On DxDiag, my system manufacturer is listed as CLEVO. and my BIOS part says BIOS: BIOS Date: 04/23/12 14:00:30 Ver: 04.06.05, I'm just confused as to what BIOS to download from here, my system model is a P150EM, reading the part about sager is what is confusing me and i don't know what BIOS i should be grabbing. My GPU is a Radeon HD 7970M and the fan is always locked to 35% until the temperature reaches 95c, that is why i want to get the BIOS update to unlock the fan control. Sorry that this message is really long winded, just getting confused as to whether i am getting sager, clevo or whatever. Thanks guys.

    Hello all.

I have a Clevo P170EM notebook (from a Spanish reseller called Mountain), and I have upgraded both EC and BIOS to the last offered in the original post ( 1.02.12 EC & 1.02.17 BIOS , respectively), as from Mountain they have denied the BIOS update process to consider it too "risky" for the end user.

The process went all OK, but it came from a branded logo of a German company I guess (XMG) during both the POST process and while charging Windows 8.1 (instead of the Windows 8 logo). Is there any way to get rid of it? I have disabled the "Quick boot" option so the XMG logo only appears while charging Windows, but I would like to substitute it for the original Windows 8 logo.

As the original post stated it was an original Clevo BIOS, I did not expect that it came with a reseller branded logo in it...

EDIT: I have tried with the 1.02.14 BIOS and it is not an original Clevo one either, it is from Style Note reseller with the branded logo in it...
EDIT2: The 1.00.12 BIOS is from Style Note reseller as well..

No. StyleNote is not a reseller, all stock Clevo BIOS come up with the StyleNote branded logo, that's actually the default one.
Resellers afterwards change the StyleNote logo to their own logo.

Oh thanks for the input, I didin't know it :)

EDIT: Oh, sorry to bother you. But I also have a W130EW Clevo-based notebook from Mountain as well, with 1.00.XX BIOS & EC, and I would really to have a 1.02.XX one in order to add UEFI support to install Windows 8.1 Pro x64 on it. I see there is no W130EW support in your original post, or in the "Clevo BIOS Thread (old models)" one. Do you know where could I get that BIOS update?

Thanks a lot in advance again.

EDIT2: I have found this site:

    http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/W130EW/

But I don't know if it is trustable enough

Well I updated to latest bios/ec on P157SM (with the files taken from mysn.de support page). The most noticeable difference is the logo, change from style note to XMG by schenker technologies, which is nice. Style Note was boring as fvck.

The process was also very smooth. Made a bootable MSDOS stick with rufus, 2 directories on it (EC and BIOS).
Disabled Intel Antitheft , turned off uefi booting and first flashed the EC. Rebooted, unplugged for about 5 seconds, turned on. Then with the BIOS, i first flashed MESET.exe (updates the Management Engine) and it automatically turned off the laptop. Unplugged for 5 more seconds, turned on and than ran the flash.bat from the BIOS directory which flashed the BIOS.

Went back to bios, turned on uefi, installed the secure boot keys and all in all it took about 5 minutes.

This part is new territory for me: what is the secure boot keys? I bet this is something to do with Windows 8/8.1 boot process? (I never had Win 8 before)

Did you also reset "all" (not that many) settings to default at the end?
Is there any difference to the fan-profiles? (mines are turning on and off when in desktop mode using internal GPU which is pretty darn annoying)
Are you running Windows 8 or 8.1?

I saw the Windows Update patch for disabling desktop background with error using Google.

Is there a new setting for enabling Secure Boot in BIOS/UEFI now?
Do you have to install a driver from Clevo or something? Or is all in the new BIOS?
Or just enable it in Windows 8.1 like in this link:
"Secure Boot isn't configured correctly": troubleshooting

Hey there, I have a Clevo W150ER (according to both the bottom of the laptop and the BIOS)
Currently on BIOS version 1.00.03, with EC Firmware Revision 1.00.02.
Can anyone advise me on which BIOS/EC to update to in order to get the newest? I noticed that the OP says the new est ones are compatible with some old EC etc...
    Any help?
    Thanks

Wow mate, cannot wait for your modded BIOS for the P370SM. I'm getting my XMG P723 next week and will be looking to mod the BIOS to unlock the full potential of the notebook. xD
