I downloaded EC13 and and BIOS114 for my p150hm 460m, however trying to update EC, my laptop shutdown? Everything works but I'm curious how to proceed, it did load something for 5-10sec and went on fans full mode.
I checked it didn't update EC. I download the stuff from external site are there any working bios updates on this site which link works?

yeah, I was yesterday tired from uni that I didn't really pay much attention. It actually did update EC, so today I proceeded with bios, everything went smooth. It probaby does make sense that my laptop shut down after the update since there's a command /shutdown in the end.

    Hello,

    I want to update a W550EU.

I just ask me if I can update from version 1.00.01 to the lastest 1.03.02 directly? is it safer to install another version before?

I have found the files here : W540EU/W550EU

    Thanks.

    let me check.

From Clevo's instructions I think you can, just remember to update EC first, otherwise you brick your laptop.

After the EC Update I have this message : "ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID"

    I will retry tomorrow.

    Good night.

    Many thanks Blacky!

No problem to update EC to 1.02.07 (for W55xEU) :)

Now the BIOS: I have these messages : "PDR region does not exist" "GBE region does not exist", is it a problem?

1.02.15 (for W55xEU) version seems to flash but no change in BIOS menu, so I have tried 1.02.06 (for W550EU) and it seems to be ok. (even if I have the same "PDR GBE" message).

Should I now update EC in 1.03.xx or try a lastest 1.02.xx BIOS before?

It give me the same message ""ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID"

I have tried to update BIOS 1.02.11 but doesn't want to install.

edit : the same problem with 1.02.13, the process seems to be done, but it's still 1.02.06 after reboot.

I have the W860CU and I noticed it has a bios version that integrates the laptop battery through the start up process and as with all laptops the battery fails in about a year and when the battery goes out the W860CU wont start it takes several 3 - 6 attempts to get the machine to start, I live in the US and was just going get a new battery but they want over $200.00 and I can't even find a new battery in the US, looking for an alternate version bios version any ideas ?

    Dear all,

I have read a big part of this discussion threat and I would like to ask if anyone could link the oldest Clevo M761SU BIOS available.

    Ideally I need the:

    BIOS Revision: 1.00.04
    KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.10

I just need the BIOS as I did not flash the EC.

    Many thanks,

    John

    Hi Blacky & Prema,

Been following your thread for quite a while now Blacky and had been intending to try one of Prema's mods for my P370EM as I found the BIOS fairly limited in functionality, but I never quite mustered up the courage to actually go ahead with it.

Now I feel I do not have a choice but to try now as I suspect my BIOS has been maliciously infected with a virus of sorts.

But a question comes to mind which I am hoping you or Prema will be able to answer, and this is :-
... If a virus is loaded and active in memory on boot-up and is clever enough to check on and replace itself in BIOS after a flash, how does one remove it ?

The BIOS is "Virus protected" by certain lockdown bits. The only region it could write malicious values to is the NVRAM, then again even Aptios own software fails to write there because Clevo "forgot" a module... I think you are fine.

Mind that all tweaks for P370EM models are "under the hood", there is an automatic performance gain, but no additional switches unlocked in BIOS directly but for the Intel XTU Software. :)

Well.... make a bootable CD/DVD and flash the BIOS again from there. BEfore you do this, remove all media, HDD, cards, USB from the computer.
I can't think of any other way.

Wanted to know if NVRAM can be flushed before and after the flash

Thanks for reassuring me Prema ;)
... You made me go away and re-examine all the stepsI had been taking.

I did not realise setting up an auditing policy could cause me so much grief - Thanks Microsoft

I feel such a plonker, the one thing I had started repetitively doing as it had revealed intrusions was -> I had set up an Audit to shutdown the system if unable to log security events and this resulted in barring all standard (non-admin) users from the system - that was my persistent Virus,, phew.

At least I had the decency to come back here and explain though it does make me look bad.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys, still unsure about my systems security but I will hopefully be back soon to grab a mod and make a donation.

    Keepup the good work (Y)

So, just updated to the latest and greatest BIOS 1.03.33 (something like that) & EC (whatever an EC is). I'm just curious what kind of things have been fixed or upgraded in the new BIOS? There's no new options in setup so it must all be hidden tweaks. The previous BIOS was the one that came loaded on the system. 1.00.03 I do believe. What are the changes? Does anyone actually know or do Clevo keep that info top secret?

EC is the hardware control firmware for the keyboard.

With regards to changelogs I think you need to contact your reseller, as they make their own tweaks more regularly than Clevo HQ.

Blacky - 1st of all thanks for your effort and dedication to write all those info's that help lots of people.
2nd - i found something that u may add to your original post (if there is somewhere and i miss it i apologize)
so, i have a Clevo P157SM and tried to update the EC 1st following the steps described by you and when i typed “update.bat” or Once you are in the folder with your EC/KBC files, type “update.bat” or “step1.bat” or "updateEC.bat" (tho i had the BIOS/EC in different folders as u suggested to be if they came so from the manufacturer) so i had to type just "update.bat" (but also tried the others too, thinking that may be something i didn't got right) - anyway the thing is that any of them worked and always say "bad command" or something like that. Then being frustrated i looked and read the .txt file provided with the bios and it seems that at least for this model things are different. Why? bcs files like "update.bat" arn't there. I suppose that they were replaced and instead will have to run "ECFlash.bat" for the firmware (EC) and same with BIOS..even more to add here: 1st Intel anti theft technology must be 1st disabled and after that you can proceed to updating the BIOS. To update BIOS must run 1st "Meset.exe" from pure dos..then the laptop will restart automatically and after that run "flashme.bat" to finally update BIOS. ..and done!
Sorry if i wrote something unclear or anything else..i'm not a BIOS pro, but i wanted to say all this in the hope that may help some1 that will meet this thing as me. So to resume all: all that you wrote is true and it works excepting those files that u need to run in order to update, like "update.bat" and so on because they are not here or their name was changed (i don't know since i have no real expertise regarding this) and (of course all that i wrote applies only for the model specified by me, and on the latest BIOS/EC available for it...i don't know how the rest are)
Once again thank you Blacky, Prema and all others for the great community support.
    Wish you all the best!

    Thank you.

Yes, the update.bat was used a few years ago. I haven't updated the post on that part, because each BIOS release comes with a different .bat to flash to BIOS.
I will see what I can do to make that part more clear.

I also am facing some weird issues like airplane mode led always on, restart makes GPU indicator always on, and GPU clock stuck in 324/400 Mhz in GTX 780m and stuff (ater laptop restart only, shutdown makes it normal) , can it be a bios issue? I think I shd install new ones :(

cleaver_73, i downloaded BIOS for my P157SM from here -> P150SM/P151SM1/P157SM/P170SM/P177SM Series and that's the only place where it can be found. Alternatively, you can also download it from XMG mySN.de | SCHENKER XMG | Schenker Technologies ..they named the Clevo P157SM -> XMG P503. Though it's strange what u wrote ""says the ECFlash other FlashMe are not compatible with the version of the windows 8""" -> ..how can it say that they are incompatible with that version of windows since you have to make the update from pure DOS :?

I flashed my BIOS with the instructions that mysn gave Me, I was a Qualified PC Engineer before I got ill, so I have flashed EC/BIOS on lots of machines with No problems until I flashed My P370EM.

To cut the story I got the E-mail from mysn.de that My device is out of warranty on the 29/11/13, which I understand a bad BIOS flash voids warranty

I RMA'd to mysn.de, they received the laptop on the 02/12/13, they lost the laptop as 2 RMA's was created for it, on the 06/12/13 I received this E-mail

Thank you very much for your email. We´ve located your laptop. Your RMA was created two times. You can find the right RMA-Number in the subject. We are very sorry but our repair times are now round about 4 weeks, please be patient.

Yes I understand they are busy for Christmas, but really is changing a motherboard that time consuming

So now I need to wait until January

However they did send Me a XMG T-shirt, Sun glasses and beer mats as an apology
The XMG t-shirt is so Cool

thx a lot, i downloaded this P15xSM_33_31_Stock.rar from ur site, now if i install this, will it void the warranty? what are the risk factors? also can u suggest how can u get rid of this "airplane mode" LED always freaking on syndrome? is it a bios thingy?

It's Clevos stock BIOS, they are the manufacturer of all of these Notebooks, so it won't void warranty. I don't know about airplane mode LED, works for me...

You may have to update to the latest airplane mode and Control Center Software:

They don't need to replace the motherboard, just the a small chip on the motherboard. In fact they don't need to replace that either, all they need is to unsolder the chip, place it a proper flashing machine, re-flash with proper bios and please it back it. I know some small repair shops that can do this for 20 GBP in a few hours. Usually you bring the laptop in the morning and take it back in the afternoon.

It's available in both flavors > Mod & Stock (official).

    Clevos Changelog:

    - Solve “sometimes system hangs during POST” issue.
    - Solve “AMD 8970 VGA card causes Blue Death Screen problem” issue.

If the EC is bricked then it's dead. The EC is now hosted directly in the 133PIN EC controller for which we only have incomplete documentation...

Updated initial post with some of Prema's files...
Clevo should hire you to take care of their BIOS updates and stuff :))

Don't forget to rep Prema and you know, check his page and give something back to him if you can.

Edit: May I also suggest you turn down the volume of the music on your website...

Thanks for your answer. So this is just a BIOS update as far as i can see..no EC or so. Now i have one more question: I already updated BIOS & EC to v 1.03.01 so i only have to update the BIOS now to v. 1.03.03. Also, beeing a BIOS newbie i must ask this: I see that u have only one folder and again as far as i can understand in that folder are both the BIOS & EC update..I can only update BIOS from there (since i already have EC 1.03.01) or when i will run "update.bat" will both be installed? also that "xx.bat" i suppose it's a personal touch, right? :)

I will answer for him... if Prema doesn't mind.
Yes, you only need to update the BIOS, but since Prema wrote a single bat file for both EC and BIOS, you have no choice but to update them both.
    Souldn't be a problem really.
Yes, the xx.bat is his personal touch. :D

You need to update to the latest win 8.1 driver (or re-install them):
