do you have 1.05.08 bios for G-sync Model Clevo P870DM-G ? or this bios only available for NON G-sync models?
-
I need to look.
Sorry, no luck. Everything that's on palkeo's link is also on Clevo, nothing extra or more recent. -
I received Bios and EC from Eurocom for my p770dm aka batman 2.0.
Before flashing Bios should I update intel ME firmware? -
No. Intel ME shouldn't affect you.
I don;t know how the P770DM bios updates are, most motherboards update their ME when you update the BIOS/EC. -
I have a P170HM and booting up takes extra 10sec or so because before starting to load windows my laptop checks cd drive for 10 seconds. If i physically take the cd drive out then the booting up is very fast. I have checked bios to remove cd drive from the bootup list but cant remove it (i have moved cd drive as last boot up option but it still checks my cd) I hoped that i can remove power cord from the cd drive itself(it does not get much use anyways) but it does not have a cord, it slides straight into a socket. I dont want to remove the cd drive itself because then all the dust can get into my laptop. Any ideas how to bypass this problem?

Only time I have such issues is when there is a CD inside the CD drive. If the drive is empty then something is going on, possibly the drive itself has a problem. -
no CD in the drive. I was wondering if I update my bios then maybe i can disable cd drive from bios. Otherwise i might just need to pull the socket off from the cd drive

That is not as good an idea because you will be carrying a lot of extra weight that is useless. A better idea if you don't need the drive anymore is to go out and buy a DVD drive caddy. It is basically a case that has a shape of a DVD drive like the one you have, and it has a hole in the middle that can optionally fit a 2.5" HDD or SSD. You can choose to leave it without a drive and that way, you won't be carrying all the weight of a DVD drive around with you
-
Haha. i just did cut a small piece of plastic from a plastic bag and did put it on the cd drive socket, at least didnt need to break it. Works great now, dont need the damn thing anyways. Laptop weight is 4kg anyways, so this 100gr for cd drive would not make a difference.

@palkeo ,
The P870DM*-G service manual zips appear to be broken? Perhaps they're meant to be placeholders, seeing that the P7xxDMx(-G) series ESMs seem to be unavailable as well? -
Hi
I've got a 1080 sli P870DM3-G, but i am not pleased with the current EC because the fan management is kinda weird . Is there any update? any BIOS update too?
Cheers -
Prema, Can you please repost the link for this flash. I am wanting to get rid of the Stylenote Logo myself and go back to the original Sager Bios.
-
Prema, Can you please repost the file for download, thnx

Hi guys, I have a Clevo p870dm-g from PC Specialist UK, and I realized from what I was reading on the forum that the bios revision and ec/bk must be the same (corect me if i'm wrong) but mine is bios revision 1.05.07 TPCS and EC/BK 1.05.03 (i hope it's correct) , do I have to go EC 1.05.07 aswel ?

Hi guys, been a while since I've been here. I was thinking I'd make a separate topic, but thought maybe I should just ask in this thread? ...
Anyone know if we'll see a bios update for the Clevo P750DM-G to support Kaby Lake CPUs? I have an i3-6100 in mine now, but am considering upgrading to the i7-7700K when it comes out (and when I can get a good deal at MicroCenter). Or how soon would we find out? I'm aware that some desktop board makers are releasing bios updates, even though the KBL desktop CPUs aren't expected until the beginning of 2017.
I'd like to wait for Coffee Lake / Cannonlake to upgrade, but I'm beginning to feel the chances of getting one of those to be compatible with LGA1151 AND Z170 (even via bios update) is slim to none.
Also I might want to be doing things with the laptop sooner rather than later, that would strongly benefit from more threads. I'd love to have a couple extra cores / threads (over the sky/kabylake 4/8) though ... wish Intel would release like an i7-7720K at 4.2/4.5GHz base/boost clock, 6/12 or 8/16 cores/threads, without an iGPU. (My laptop can't use the iGPU anyway.)
For the GPU, for now I'm sticking with the GTX 970M. (The 10 series seems to be a significant upgrade over the 900, but from what I hear, they're wider and require a power connector. Hopefully the 11 or 20 or whatever the next one is called would work.) -
In your case it would be wise to upgrade the cpu to a 7700k (I dont see why it would not be just a plug and play operation with a bios upgrade of course), but for a 10% diference in performance between the 6700k and the 7700k, for me does not worth the price difference.
-
Well, i think that's the question : will clevo update their bios for KL ?
-
If clevo does not do it I hope prema does.
-
would be a damn shame if we would have to resort to @Prema for this. making kaby lake compatible is a simple microcode update away via bios, so clevo should step up and make sure ALL skylake models receive such an update. if push comes to shove, start a petition and let your resellers know what we want! its definitely not too much to ask for...

To be fair I would expect that Clevo will do s**t about it, it wouldn't be the first time.
-
yep, thats also what im afraid of... still, im hoping for a good fat outcry from the community to counteract that

On the P670RP model, there doesn't seem to be any pcie_aspm power related settings available. Is that something that might be added or is it something that prema usually offers? It's very helpful to have it as a bios option and helps with power saving if you boot linux. Bios with unlocked customization options/features allow you to control it:

So regarding my question, anyone?
-
That is fine, it only has to be compatible. Bioses are updated more often, so their version numbers tend to run ahead of their ec counterparts.runix18 likes this.

Thx mate that eases my mind.

I got the latest version for the P650RG (Sager NP8658-S), should I post it here, or is it against the rules?
-
You can post. Forums are meant for sharing ideas and helping people.

I got the latest BIOS version for the Sager NP8658-S here, it's version 1.05.16R LS1. Only things I noticed are that there is a different Sager logo, and there is now an option for VT-d support. I also got told from customer support that it includes a microcode update. It's possible there are more behind the scenes changes.
Below are the instructions I got for flashing it.
Hi xxx, the current version of the system BIOS file is attached,
Please rename the attached file to 8658bv16ls1.7z.
Unzip the 8658bv16ls1.7z to the root directory of a FAT32 USB flash drive.
Run the wmeset on the USB drive in windows.
Computer will Restart.
When the screen turns black, keep tapping F7.
Select enter setup on the boot menu.
In the BIOS setup, pull down the Exit menu.
Press enter on “Launch EFI Shell from filesystem device”.
Type flashme at the command prompt.
Computer will power off when the process is finished.
Remove the AC adapter for 10 seconds.
Insert the AC power and turn on the computer.
Upon restarting, keep tapping F7.
Enter the BIOS setup.
Launch EFI shell from filesystem device.
Type eol at the command prompt.
The entire BIOS update process is completed.
Turn off the computer. Remove the USB flash drive.
Note. Sager Computer does not take the responsibility if the computer does not work after you updated the system BIOS & firmware by yourself. -
@DarkenMoon Thank you!

anybody got the latest bios link for P870DM2(-G)/P870DM3(-G)?
-
Hi, first of all thanks for the topic. The service manual link is broken (P65xRP6). Would anyone have this manual?
Thank -
I'm owner of Clevo W65_67SB with BIOS version 1.05.02RDN1 I'd like to update the BIOS (yes, I'm aware of consequences) because I can't figure out which file is the latest.
Does any one know which is the latest
for BIOS -
Hi guys,
I just updated my firmwares but it seems I've gotten myself in a bit of a pickle. I did not know that I needed to suspend BitLocker before doing the update, and needless to say I am having some trouble locating my recovery key. The BitLocker uses TPM, not a code...
The only thing I can think of is to downgrade back to the original firmware versions, hoping that BitLocker will magically work again but I guess this is not even guaranteed to work. Furthermore I did not take a copy of the previous firmwares, and I can't seem to find the exact versions in the mirrors from this thread. To make matters worse, downgrading itself seems to be heavily advised against.
The files in itself are not extremely crucial, but reinstalling the whole thing is never a fun thing to do of course. I would lose some work related stuff, but nothing I can't overcome.
What would you guys recommend me to do at this stage?
The versions I had installed were:
BIOS: 1.05.10
EC/KBC: 1.05.04 -
i_pk_pjers_i Even the ppl who never frown eventually break down
I know this may not help now but in the future, I would suggest that you use BitLocker with a password instead of a TPM key. With TPM, if your laptop is powered off and someone steals it, they turn it on and they get all your files - not very secure. With a password instead, if your laptop is powered off and someone steals it, they aren't getting into Windows and aren't getting your data unless they manage to bruteforce your password which is extremely unlikely and would take a very long time. -
Bitlocker
BIOS password and bit lockers write both to the TPM.
Even the hard disk password is written to the TPM.
Only bitlocker without TPM does not write to the TPM chip.
VeraCrypt is also a good program.
But with all encryption programs it is the same.
If an error occurs during operation, then all data is lost.
I've had it before that the boot partition was broken.
Bitlocker, of course, needs the 64-bit recovery key for a BIOS update.
This is a serious hardware change. -
Here's my BIOS dump for Sager NP9870-G. Same instructions as @DarkenMoon . This is not a Clevo BIOS. Download http://www.mediafire.com/file/k6r7s5t2z71vlym/9870BV08LS2.7z

Phoenix is it worth updating from my current to this bios?
Bios Version: 1.05.03 LS2
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.05.04 -
I'd say it be worth it. I recently updated the same Clevo model that you have exept mine was v1 with the GTX 980.
It gave me better stability for my unit, fixed the advanced features that were suppose to be there and built in OC.
I'd say don't go off of the P870DM because your signature says you have the CLEVO P870DM3-G / SAGER NP9873-S
Use this link instead: https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P870DM23G/ -

Thanks. That is what I was wondering was which version had the best stability. Did you upgrade to 1.05.07 and which EC version are you using? -
I'm currently using the [20160608 v1.05.08R LS2] BIOS. Image: http://imgur.com/zX31nN3
This is for my Sager NP9870S /Clevo P870DM.
I'd say use the latest one. But just my own personal opinion. I could only tell you from personal experience of how mine is. Afterwords, I custom flashed the latest Intel ME compatible for my system. Silky smooth from here. I noticed the difference when playing games with G-Sync on. Games were more prone to actually running G-Sync properly.lctalley0109 likes this. -
Hey @Blacky can you update your post with all of the Sager BIOS's contributed? It be really helpful to not only me but to everyone else.
-
Guys !
I got a Clevo P671HS-G
My computer hangs/freeze at the Style note start up screen. . . every second time a reboot . . ., but after next reboot again it start smooth up again! . . WTF.
got bios 1.03. well i have on zip files the 1.05 bios as i guess is the latest... BUT the progress to flash the firmwire and EC is a messy process ! dont want to brick the machine as i´m far from a service center.
Maybe just need to reinstall the W10 ? -
There are 1.06 BIOS's for the newer models now that add in Kaby Lake support
-
I will look into it. It takes me about 2 hours to do a proper first page update... and I don't really have access to the Sager BIOS versions except for what was posted here.
-
Did anyone flash Clevo bios on their Sager laptop and does it successfully boot after ?
-
Hi , i have updated my P775DM3-G to 1.06.01 ( from https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P7xxDM23G/ ) and i lost GSYNC and 75hz ( only 60hz ).
