So i figured out how to do it.. first turn off your laptop (not sure if this is that important - lol) n then while holding the Fn key press the power button.. u can plug in something into the usb powered port to check.. it'll work from then on.. to turn it off again do the same thing..

    hope that helps :D

I'm not really sure if that's the way to describe it but what settings do you have in Realtek control panel?

This has probably been asked before but its so hard to find on the forum.

When you direct to driver sweeper, do you mean the one from Phyxion.net or Guru3D? And by registry cleaner i guess you mean ccleaner? =)

I want to upgrade the nvidia and the realtek drivers, i feel that both of them are not at their top max performance right now =/

    EDIT:

Not sure whats going on with the sound, all is pretty flat here, no bass no power. There are no woofer settings in the realtek application either. Wish it would work out of the box but no. Any resolution to this yet? Do we know why its in some cases that it works out of the box and some (or many) that it doesnt?

    @subwoofer:

doesnt have anything to do with the realtek application, u gotta install THX TruStudio Pro, thats what activates ur subwoofer and brings out the "real" sound in ur machine :) without that program ur boxes will be worlds away from their true potential.

oh lol! i didnt know that. Thanks for the heads up jaybee83, i'll try it now and hope for the best ;) Cheers!

    EDIT:

This is a bit odd, i though it was freeware? But i cant find it anywhere except spyware sites. Since i dont have a Creative product i cant download the software. Could anyone please be helpful and direct me into the light of this issue =) ?

    EDIT2:

Never mind that, i found something THX on clevos own site. Probably not the most updated but hope it will work ;)

    EDIT3:

Gotta love the edit function. Well i installed the one from clevos site, one from gigabyte and both say that no recognizable audio device have been found. Whats wrong here? Have i gotten some other setup than you guys?

    im using 1.03.01

i remember that theres a shortcut in order to manually switch on/off the subwoofer. what was it again? Fn+.....? hm, gotta take a look in the P150HM owner´s lounge i think :)
that way u could definitely tell if it was working or not!

edit: ha! got it, its Fn+5 :) so if u dont hear any difference whatsoever when using this hotkey function then ull definitely know that ur subwoofer isnt working :p

lol crap, sorry for the misinformation: the Fn+5 is for the P170HM model :)

ok back to searching, theres definitely a shortcut for the P150HM as well....dammit!

alright then, lets do this differently: open up THX TruStudioPro and switch it off by using the power-style button in the upper left corner of the program window. then test the subwoofer with this video and compare that to an additional run with the TruStudioPro software switched on.

    result in my case:
THX switched off = tinny thin sound
THX switched on = comparably rich bass / vibrations

Thats from the P170EM manual =)

Strangly though i cant still install any TruStudio software on my, i even got a sticker saying its a THX TruStudio Pro system. Im downloading drivers from sager now, hopefully that will do something, but im not to hopeful about it =/

    EDIT:

Well the Sager drivers did it! Damn im surprised =) Had to activate trough creative and all that and then it kicked in. Though i see a small difference in the sound the subwoofer doesnt seem to work. Nothing much happens when i press fn+5 =/

I'm having issues with THX again. I've unistalled it and installed it again (v1.03 taken directly form the Clevo site). No dice. THX app starts but it is not working because I can't hear any difference whatsoever. Any suggestions?

Are these the appropriate drivers for the 9150's USB 3.0 controller? Sager specified version 1.0.3.214 on their website...intel's look to be 1.0.5.235.

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21129

I'm just experiencing some displaylink failures and I was recommended to confirm up to date drivers for my USB 3.0 controller since when displaylink fails, all my USB devices fail as well.

I reverted the driver back to 1.03 on my P180 and it works. HOWEVER, when I have THX turned on I hear reverberation/static noise on the lower frequencies. It doesn't happen if I disable THX.

Anyway, what is supposed to be so great about THX anyway? At least when I'm hearing the sound through my laptop speakers, the difference is minimal. Am I missing something here?

what version are u referring to exactly? im only aware of 1.03 and 1.04...?

u should keep an eye on benchmark3d.com,they regularly provide modded version of the newest amd.drivers for the 7970m ;)

well for one ur subwoofer wont work without thx, thus no bass whatsoever. aside from that it comes in handy when u wanna finetune ur sorround effects :)

is that static noise permanent when thx is switched on? even when theres not supposed to be any sound? if thats the case then maybe smth is wrong with ur sub?

oh yeah thats the 1.04 one :) just too lazy to include the last two digits since they dont seem to be important anyways :p personally theres no real difference between the two if u ask me so its basically up to you :) just make sure that u got the original clevo version installed and registered first otherwise the thx app wont recognize ur soundsystem!

    Clevo's version - 1.03.01
    My version - 1.04.03
    Floridan79's version - 1.04.11

If you notice there are two 1.04.xx versions there, which one is yours?

    I have a P170HM.

I have never, ever, been able to upgrade the graphic drivers without going through roughly 2-4 hours of uninstalling, reinstalling and uninstalling them again until they finally install successfully.

Could some write a small guide or something, on how to successfully update the graphics drivers?

I always have to uninstall the drivers, uninstall the graphic card from the device manager, run driver cleaner and registry cleaners, then install the drivers from the CD that came with the laptop, then update the drivers, then remove the drives, then install them again on and on again until they for some magical reason finally get installed (I seriously don't know how they get installed when they finally do). Any suggestions on how to solve this?

I have also tried just installing the drivers without installing the old ones that came with the CD (this can't be done for some reason) and installing the newest drivers without uninstalling the previous version.
I have formated the laptop numerous times and the issues still persist after that.

P.S. I have this issue with all versions of the drivers.

    EDIT:

... I have no idea what I just did, but I managed to install the driver for the first time without having to go through the uninstall-install-uninstall-install process.
Nonetheless, if someone that have experienced the same issues as I mentioned above and somehow managed to fix this, I would really appreciate if I could get some help with this issue, as there are a lot more updates coming out in the future.
I installed the 12.7 beta, if anyone is curious.

Nope, the static is present only when bass notes are played.

Overall, sound is one of the very few things I dislike in my P180. For this kind of machine and price I was expecting much better.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. So far these 12.6 drivers are running ok. I'm also seeing a 50-80point improvement in 3Dmark11.
Fingers crossed for now. I would steer clear of Betas/mods for Clevos as I have had nothing but trouble with them.

REALTEK High Definition Audio 2.69 & 2.70 incompatibility

I was having issues with the sound of my Clevo P180HM. After unplugging the headphones I could not revert the sound back to the speakers. The only way to do that was to reboot Windows. After having tried a lot of stuff I decided to revert the drivers to R2.62 (the one on Clevo's site). The problem was immediately fixed.

I think I'll just stay with the original drivers. It's not like new drivers are going to improve the sound.

Realtek HD Audio 2.68 build 6602 is the last version that works perfectly for me.After that I lose my subwoofer with newer builds.

Just did a clean Windows 7 x64 installation and installed 6.0.1.6602.

I haven't put THX in yet.

With the Realtek Audio Manager set to 5.1 and only the front and sub checked the brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound of the speaker test should be the same for right, left and subwoofer.

This is with or without THX installed.

Has anyone been able to install Catalyst 12.6 or 12.7 BETA on a P170HM with the 6970M 2gb? I keep getting the failed to detect hardware error when trying to install.

It has been over 6 months since I last installed new drivers on my laptop so my knowledge is a bit rusty. Some advice would be much appreciated.

First I uninstalled my current driver using the ATI installer. I rebooted and entered Windows safe mode with networking. After trying to install 12.7 and 12.6 I downloaded the latest embedded driver from amd.com, which is version 8.96 of April 12, 2012 ( http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/embedded/Pages/embedded_windows_all.aspx). But that also gave me the detection error! I can recall that last year I successfully used these embedded versions on my P170HM with 6970M 2gb. Then I went to my manufacturers website for an old and supposedly compatible version, but that is now also giving me the detection error! Then I rebooted my system and Windows 7 automatically started using 8.93 of December 5, 2011. Which for now I will use. Still I would like to be able to use a newer version.

What am I missing here? And which Catalyst version actually works with my graphics card?

hm....u should use phyxion driver sweeper first before installing the new amd driver. also, if it still doesnt work, try installing everything in the catalyst package EXCEPT for the actual gpu driver (untick the respective box) and then go into device manager - have disk and manually install the driver by pointing to the respective amd driver folder (choose the appropriate .inf file).

    cheers!

On my P150HM with a 6970m i had a similar issue. When i tried updating the 11.? catalyst to 12.? (i don´t remember the last digits :)) earlier this year i got the "detection error". I didn´t try any further until last month when i succesfully installed 12.6 beta and 12.6 some days later. Apart from recommendations i did not uninstall old drivers or used any "cleaning" tool. The installation did just fine out of a regular Windows (7 x64) session.
I´m not sure what "embedded drivers" you are using but maybe you should first try to get to a working basic system by installing the stock drivers that came with your system. Also consider using some "cleaning" tools as described earlier in this thread.

Did you already try this setup file:
    http://www2.ati.com/DriverS/12-6_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe ?

    Good Luck! :)

Sorry you should never have to use driver sweeper, you will do more damage than good. Use ccleaner to ubinstaal the driver and then use the registry scan to clean out your unneeded registry entries. If you still having issues download atiman ati driver uninstalle, this is deep cleaner for ati drivers.

Thank you for the responses guys! I'll give it another go in the weekend!

Edit: uninstalling the driver using Windows, and after that reinstalling the driver manually did the trick (like Jaybee83 said). Only thing I was doubtful about was picking the right .inf file. In the end I went for C7141571.inf (in the folder AMD\AMD_Catalyst_12.7_Beta_win7_32-64\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF) and it seems to work! Much higher framerate in BF3 now. Awesome!
