    System specs: mySN | XMG P701 | (Clevo P170HM) | Core i7-2820QM | nVidia GeForce GTX 580m 2GB GDDR5 |
    16GB DDR3 1333MHz | Intel Centrino Advanced N 6230 | 2 x 500GB Seagate Momentos XT RAID 0

I have a P170HM. I didnt order a TV Tuner, but it still has a DVB T connection on the left side. Even though it doesnt show up in device manager.

I also have some kind of IR receiver on the front left side.
Dont know what it is or what its for .

I already asked my reseller but didnt get an answer yet

Windows is supposed to detect the IR Driver and it should be on the optional updates.

Does anyone know how to set the "tapping zone" (e.g. bottom left, top left, bottom right, etc) with the new synaptics driver (15.3.13.0)? the UI have changed, and I can't seem to find the configuration option for the tapping zone.

Or, could anybody give me the link for the previous driver? heck, the version number would do, I'd just google it myself.

Personally I like the Clevo OEM driver from their site the best, it's been the least erratic for me so far and provided the most compatible scrolling.

Though I see some like the newer builds so they get posted here too.

Intel chipset drivers see many updates given to vendors and licensees all the time, you'll see updates that don't show up on Intel's support page all the time show up elsewhere.

When Intel makes an updated chipset package (which supports all of their current line of products) they don't say which drivers were actually updated within that package, they do not update all drivers contained to the version number of the package, only the particular device entries that were changed at the time of the release
(You'll even have different driver revs for components of the same series too, flip through chipset components in device manager you'll see.)
I just put whatever package is the newest at the time up here for good measure.

On the PROset wireless drivers I see they're now actually listing them as unified between the 6300/6230, for a while there was unrest between which driver was for what and people having issues trying to use the driver deemed for 6300 on 6230's etc, since it's now stated that they use the same officially I'll go ahead and post them under the same link.

If you want to see what I mean by that look at the fact theres a separate 6230 driver on Intel's support page.

The only Intel drivers I need are chipset and management engine, correct? RST is only for RAID setups?

Some SSD manufacturers (f.e. OCZ) strongly advise to use the RST driver even in non Raid setups.

No idea if this applies, but we just received my wife's Dell laptop (which is not even RAID capable) and it came pre-installed - running the Intel RST drivers.

RST provides a more advanced & robust AHCI driver than the very basic one included in the chipset package, even on my non-SSD setup I noticed performance improvement.

Also for those who don't like having the included management app always in the notification area you can uncheck "Show the notification area icon" from preferences.

On an educational note, Intel Matrix Storage was replaced by Intel Rapid Storage.

Patrck remember me and my 6200N - well it was a broken card so no matter how much we tried we were doomed lol

PS for those wanting to know how the wires should be connected for Intel Wlan cards pls see attached (for P170). This is valid for the 6200 and 6230 so unsure about the 6300

It´s the same for the 6300, the only diference is that the 6300 got an extra wire (red cap) wich is already there for you to connect, all conections and wires got numbers: 1 / 2 / 3, just follow the numbers and you´ll be ok.

I'm trying to figure out the Audio drivers for my P170HM. Sound works fine but I've heard I can improve the quality with the right drivers.
Device Manager just reads 'AMD High Definition Audio Device' and 'High Definition Audio Device'. The OP lists the Realtek HD Audio Driver and the Clevo website lists the THX Audio Driver. Which of these do I want?
    Thanks

The Realtek HD audio driver is for the soundcard itself, while the THX Audio driver is for post-processing of the sound using THX ProStudio, i.e. adding various effects to the sound produced by the soundcard, CMMIW. Both should come pre-installed on your laptop, (you just need to activate the THX audio driver before you could use it - look for it under start menu), but for the Realtek HD Audio Driver, the one that comes with your unit is an older version from what the OP posted, it should still work fine though. The AMD High Definition Audio Device is governed by the catalyst mobility software, but it's mainly useless if you're not using the HDMI port.

There are people who reported an increased quality in sound output after they activate the THX ProStudio, but generally, this varies for every people. Just do the step above and try it for yourself.

Clevo releases the new P180 drivers, in those you can find a updated version of Hot Key - its now 3.3040, it works perfect in both P150 and P170.

    Official Link:
    ftp://usftp.clevo.com.tw/P18xHM/OTHERS/Hotkey.zip

I don´t know if there´s anything new there, if there is it would probably be THX AP and maybe Webcam

Hey guys! I just got a new Sager NP 8130! It's an awesome laptop, love it so far. The thing is a beast. (ordered directly from Sager though, new to this custom laptop business, from looking around I probably should've bought from Xotic or the like, but anyways that's off topic.)

I was wondering if I will need to update any of the drivers right away, or use this "driver and utilities" disc that came with my computer?

I'm not real savvy with the whole updating drivers process to be honest so thanks in advance for the help!

the disk is nice and gets everything to work, but if you want the latest drivers and BIOS updates etc you need to get them from this and the Bios thread. it is advisable to be on the latest drivers...
